So I signed myself up. I'm a bit shy, so if I had not prepaid, I would have backed out. I arrived early and was very nervous, so I hid in the ladies room until the event started. Everyone at this event was 45 to 60. The 12 participating females each sat at a small table with two chairs. The 12 males moved to the next table every five minutes when a bell rang. The events often involve food and drinks to help everyone relax, mingle and have a good time. However, for people who prefer virtual events, some speed dating events are hosted online. I don't know. Anytime you remove from face to face. Yeah. Speed dating events are often geared toward a specific group of people based on age, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, profession, income or interests. God, when you subdivide it all, you're going to miss out on some people who could be interesting, but they are another category. I guess you decide what's most important. I would just do it. Sense of safety in knowing that the event is governed by rules. And the organizers will ask anyone who behaves inappropriately to get the hell out. The event is conducted in a public place, so there are other people around. Your contact details are private unless you choose to share them. Meeting people face to face reduces the risk of being catfished with somebody saying they're one thing when they're another. You know, I'm 25 and they're 82. You know, that sort of thing. Here are some of the disadvantages of speed dating. It can feel rushed, and it's hard in a certain amount of time to determine whether you have common interest or gauge compatibility. Well, that's true. This is just a surface experience which opens a door. Doesn't guarantee that if you walk through that door, your life is blessed. Okay. It can put too much emphasis on the first impression. Well, if you're looking for gorgeous or terminally handsome. Yeah. Because very few people are totally gorgeous and unbelievably handsome, that's actually rare. So most of us are normal people. So you know if somebody has a pleasant demeanor. So I don't consider that a disadvantage if your attitude is in the right place. It can be hard for people with social anxiety. I don't care. So go to a therapist, deal with your social anxiety and then sign up. Okay, that's not a disadvantage. It may not necessarily help you meet the right person. Duh. It's just a tweak.
