Markandangel.com is where it's published. Www.markandangel.com so she wrote an interesting piece. I thought three essential things to start doing for your self confidence. Nothing knocks out your self confidence like failing. Really. She points that out. However, we never fail in one big glop. She didn't write that. I'm interpreting her writing. We fail because of tiny, tiny little failures along the way. Because we haven't had good habits and made good decisions. But they're tiny. Boop boop boop boop boop. Not boom. We don't fail. Boom. We marked our failure with a pathway that led us there. Okay, for example, she gives a business example. Failure is gradual. All your little daily failures, those that you don't learn and grow from, come together and cause you to fail big think in terms of running a business. So here's the example. I think it'll clarify any concerns. You keep failing to check the books regularly. I'll do it tomorrow. Don't. Yeah, don't really need to do it. You keep failing to make the calls you know you should make to maintain your business and to keep good rapport with customers and, I don't know, people who provide things for your business. You keep failing to listen carefully and respond smartly to the customers. You keep failing to innovate, update your stuff the way it's presented, the concepts, whatever. You keep failing to do the little things that need to be done. Then one day you wake up and your business has failed and you go, oh, I just had bad luck or somebody did me in. No Incremental tiny failures. As people age, it's normal to ask what more they could be doing to take care of their health. It's important to be proactive, especially when it comes to your brain health. Don't wait for something to feel off before taking action. Make your next checkup count. So she says, keep reminding yourself that almost all of the results in your life, positive and negative, are the result of small decisions made over time. The little things you do every day matter to your relationships, to your hobbies, to your work, to your parenting, to your spousing. It's all the little decisions every day that either add up to something wonderful or add up to failure. And one of the points she makes consistently, maybe that's coming up, is you have to get up and do it again and again. If at first you don't succeed, keep doing it again. But changing something, if it's not succeeding, examine it. What am I doing? What am I thinking? How could I improve this? It's not just doing it again the same way. Like I've been working on learning leatherworking, as you saw in the Dr. Laura boutique, to raise money for the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. And I was working on a big project and I had looked at YouTube and I had looked at the instructions and I thought I remembered it all in order and the thing just didn't work. And I'm looking at it and it's dye and it's leather and it's, you know, wasteful. And you have to have the attitude, though, that you don't if it, yeah, you can toss it. You have to have that attitude finally. But I went through again, looking at the instructions on how to do this from videos, and I realized I had cut one point short. That one tiny decision to not wait the hour made the difference in failure. So I didn't lose my confidence in working with leather. I realized have to follow this precisely. Every tiny decision ends up in either a big positive result or a big negative kaboom. Next thing she says is, stop thinking about the goal. Set a goal and not frothing about it every day. What does that mean? It means you shift your daily focus away from the big goals and redirect your focus toward the little daily habits that support the goals. You're not sure what that means. She gives examples. Let me read them to you. If you're a competitive athlete, your goal is to win everything. But the habit is the time you dedicate each day to training your body and mind, tiny little things you do each day so that your mind and your body can work together to make you a superior athlete. But every day you don't get up and go, I want to win that. That's not how you win that. She gives an example, another if you're a university student and your goal is to get that degree, your habit every day is to study and learn something. Okay, if you're a parent, your goal is to be a great role model. I want to be the best mommy or daddy. But your habit is the time and energy you commit to setting a good example every day, every minute. Last but not least, if you're a human being and your goal is I want to do something meaningful, your habits are small, positive steps forward every day that add up. If you were trying to lose weight and stopped thinking about 20 pounds, and instead every day put your focus on eating healthy and getting active, would you lose weight probably better than every day, gotta lose 20 pounds, gotta lose 20 pounds. No, it's the small little incremental behaviors which take the weight off and make you healthier. It's the small behaviors. It's not focusing totally on the goal of how many. Okay, Third and last, she says, leverage small victories to build your self confidence. Building and maintaining your self confidence, she writes, is arguably the most significant hidden benefit of consistently practicing a daily habit, of trying again and again to make progress. And the solution in most cases is you have to rebuild your self confidence and trust with small promises that you follow. Small steps, the daily habits, small victories. Again, this process takes time, but it happens if you stick to it. And it's undoubtedly one of the most life changing things you can do for yourself. So have big goals, big ideas. I want to do this, that and the other thing. You know. You know, I wrote 12 New York Times bestsellers and I never thought I'm going to write another bestseller. I didn't say this is going to be 325 pages. I didn't say this is going to be done by Tuesday. I never put the end point in my mind. Every day I got up and I wrote, generally speaking, about three to four hours a day. And I used to enjoy it. And the minute my butt or my brain got tired, that's it. I didn't say, oh, but I have to get this done. No, it's the small increments that add up to your success and your self confidence. Okay, we don't have a subject matter for the day.
