Thank you for listening to my morning monologue brought to you by Golden Crest Metals, helping everyday investors protect what they've worked so hard, hard to build by adding gold and silver to retirement portfolios. Learn more@goldencrestmetals.com Protect Remember, you can hear my radio program daily on Sirius XM Triumph and connect with me 24 7@drlaura.com yesterday I opened the program with a tribute to Jeff Rich, my closest friend for over 30 years and the person responsible for me sitting right here talking to you because he navigated my career in radio and he helped so many people in the industry when they were willing to learn, be humble and willing to learn. And one very special person in both our lives was Ben Pratt. He was my engineer for years when I was on KFI AM640. More stimulating talk radio. There were two issues that Jeff and I dealt with with him. I don't think he'd mind me saying it. One was he kept dating these gorgeous bimbos. They were drop dead gorgeous young bimbos. And one day I finally just got in his face and said, you gotta find yourself an actual woman or you're never gonna be happy. Okay. I spoke at his wedding, married the most gorgeous woman. They've had kids, they've had a great life together. They are a beautiful couple. It's fabulous. Second one was, he was really talented and very smart and had a business sense. And being the engineer for the program, he was not going to be able to use those talents. So basically Jeff and I told him, quit or we're going to fire you. You need to move on. So he took our advice on both levels and he went into marketing radio programs and huge success. So we have a history. This morning he sent me a letter, which is the reason I'm mentioning all of this as you know if you listen to the program. Jeff, my dearest friend and he died last Thursday night at the theater which was his first love. He was so multi. He had so many abilities. Master and chess. He played concert piano. I mean I could go on but the real love was his theater. So the other day Ben sent me a text. Short text. Sorry to hear it. He was wonderful. Short. Life doesn't have to be so complicated. This is what he wrote this morning. Good morning. I wanted to reach out an apology for my text message yesterday. I was in the middle of my day. I should have written a more thoughtful note, but it was in the wrong headspace at the time with too much going on and lacking a clear head. From what I understand, the memorial service is private, though I would love to see you and my former team if circumstances do not permit this. I wanted to send a proper note in my absence and express my condolences for the tremendous loss you are experiencing right now. I'm not sure if I ever told you this, but working with you on a daily basis gave me pause as it relates to my initial dream when I left all that was familiar and moved to Los Angeles. Originally, I wanted to be on radio, but never contemplated the flip side of success should it happen. And I suspect that many don't. The constant attacks, hate mail, statements taken out of context intentionally, and the demons you awaken when you fight for what's right and good. I watched the consequences of your daily crusade to improve the lives of total strangers, and it made me rethink what kind of life I wanted. It also shed a light on the important role Jeff played every day. In your tribute yesterday, you perfectly described Jeff's kind but firm nature. His focus was always on what was the best for you, the show, and he made sure this was my focus, too. During my time. I sought his counsel on many occasions, and his perspective corrected my thinking and kept me on track. He did that for all of us. Having a partner like Jeff to help you navigate the daily challenges was an incredible blessing, and I'm very sorry that his sudden passing has brought this to an end. I am comforted in the knowledge that his last moments were in an environment he loved and with his beloved wife Connie by his side. Over the years, we kept in contact and was able to spend time with him at an event at his home in 2023. Seeing him relaxed and laughing, he had such a hearty laugh was truly enjoyable. The last time we spoke was on your shared birthday. Yeah, Jeff and I were 10 years apart, but both January 16th. Last time we spoke was on your shared birthday. And he picked up, as he always did, saying with enthusiasm, benjamin. His smile, laugh and this greeting will forever be etched in my memory. I will miss Jeff and forever be grateful to the part he played in my life. I hope all the years of wonderful memories will always. Okay. I hope all the years of wonderful memories will always bring comfort and peace as you mourn his loss. Best regards, Benjamin. That's a good man, Benjamin. A good man. Okay, my number, 1, 800, for whatever you need to talk about, we're not talking about mourning and grieving unless you need my help with that. So yeah, give me a call at 1-800-375-2872 for whatever you need. If you like this podcast, be sure to rate it on Apple Podcasts or your favorite place to listen to my podcast.
