Dr. Laura
Thanks for listening to my Call of the Day podcast. You can hear my live radio program Monday through Friday from 2 to 5pm Eastern Time on SiriusX XM Triumph 111. Mom and Jet, welcome to the program.
Shauna
Hello.
Jet
Hello. Thank you.
Shauna
Thank you.
Dr. Laura
Hello. Jett, how old are you?
Jet
I am 17 years old right now.
Dr. Laura
Okay. How can I help you? Jet? What's happening?
Jet
So I guess me and my mom are having a difference of opinions on a upcoming beach trip. So my older brother, who is 21 years old, is going to the beach with his girlfriend, who is also 21 to 22 years old, and he invited me and my girlfriend to go to the beach as well. And I believe that it would be appropriate for me and them to go to the beach. And my mom does not. And I guess to like, convince my mom, I said, why don't we bring my girlfriends little sister? So, you know, it's just a big group having fun at the beach.
Dr. Laura
Who are you going to be sleeping with?
Jet
I mean, there is. There's three beds there, so I would just be sleeping by myself. And Court, which is my girlfriend and her sister will be sleeping together. And then my brother and his girlfriend will be sleeping together.
Dr. Laura
I see. So your mother does not want you to be exposed to your brother sleeping with his girlfriend, Is that right?
Jet
Yeah.
Shauna
Yes, that's exactly right. I don't support the sleepovers.
Dr. Laura
Okay, well, since you're 17, Jet, your opinion doesn't count.
Jet
Yeah, true, true.
Shauna
Do you think I'm being unrealistic in how I'm.
Dr. Laura
No. Unrealistic, yes. Unreasonable? No.
Shauna
Okay, that's what I meant.
Dr. Laura
Unreasonable A time ago. Your older son's girlfriend's parents would not be thrilled with this.
Shauna
I agree.
Dr. Laura
And he wouldn't be so blatant to show that he's doing her and it's so unreasonable. Yeah, because kids have lost their way with respect to making sex special. Love special. It's sad, actually. It's not special. I agree. I mean, should they get married and he carries her over the threshold, what's the big deal? He's already been doing her for three years, you know, so. Yeah, but while you can still support a value system that means something to you. I don't think that girl's any little sister should be there either. That's just more gross to me. Visit 1-800-contacts.com today to save on your first order. 1-800-contacts. Jet doesn't see any of this because he's a male. And if males can get some nookie without paying the price of commitment, it's okay. They don't think that girls, women who are sexually active with somebody they're not married to is any big deal because they benefit from it and they lose nothing from it. So yeah, I'm with you. And I think it's very sad. I think it's very sad that Jet doesn't have a notion of women on a pedestal and that certain things are special because they're preserved for certain, certain circumstances. And you know, it's too bad So I support you in holding to a value system that actually helped women be more special to men.
Shauna
Thank you.
Dr. Laura
Too bad it's unrealistic because most girls are pigs these days. I mean, that girl wants her. Wants a sister to see this, you know? Wait, whoever.
Jet
Can I. Can I add some. May I add something?
Dr. Laura
Sure.
Jet
I mean, yeah, I can definitely see where you guys are coming from. I don't know, I guess maybe I'm misinterpreting it. I mean, as a group, we're all going in. In a less than 300 square foot house. It's a very small house. Like, very small, you know, I don't.
Dr. Laura
Care how big or small it is, sir. It's irrelevant. It's morally wrong. It's morally wrong.
Jet
To go as a group of, you know, buddies and friends.
Dr. Laura
For him to be sleeping with his girlfriend and for you and the little girl to be part of that, it's morally wrong.
Jet
Well, I don't. I don't think that's what his intentions are, to sleep with her while we're there. I think it was just.
Dr. Laura
Oh, you're out of your mind, dear. You know. Okay, great. Yeah. Okay.
