Hi, Dr. Laura. I have a question about my husband said after an argument last week and I don't know if it's profound or problematic. So Mike, we're empty nesters for a few years now and I was complaining about not feeling needed in the relationship with him and I was upset about it and he said that it's not that I'm needed. He needs me in the relationship in the sense that he independently can cook his own food or clean up after himself or do his own laundry. He said, but I wanted. But I want to be in the relationship with you and that. That's a bigger deal because he's choosing to want to be with me and.
Dr. Laura
Oh my God, you just got the biggest compliment on the earth.
Caller Christine
Okay, okay.
Dr. Laura
God, you should be throwing a party instead of calling me. This man wants you and he doesn't know. Be quiet. He wants you. He doesn't. Emotionally, I mean, he doesn't. He doesn't need you like your kids did before you became an empty nester. He doesn't need you like that. He's a grown man. He can take care of himself. He doesn't need you to be his mommy. He needs you to be his woman. And he wants you. You got yourself quite a guy. I hope you're gonna be quite a gal.
Caller Christine
Yes, I will. Absolutely. I need to.
Dr. Laura

is the kneading part. Having to still do, like, kids, like, you know.
Dr. Laura
Hi, honey. When you talk about your neediness, you're talking about your boobs. And I don't mean in sex. I'm talking about when you have kids, you're constantly giving them milk. You're needed for their survival. At first, they can't even walk, talk, or roll over, and then they still need you because they're growing and learning and trying to be independent, but they're not ready. And then the kids leave, and your breasts are yearning to give milk to something that's not what your husband's for. He's your man, not your baby.
Caller Christine
I got it. Well, I'm going to go home and I'm going to. I'm going to let him remember why he wants to be with me. For sure.
Dr. Laura
You. Good for you, woman. Good for you. I'm proud of you. That was so the right thing to say.
Caller Christine
Thank you so much.
