listening to my morning monologue brought to you by Golden Crest Metals, helping everyday investors protect what they've worked so hard to build by adding gold and silver to retirement portfolios. Learn more@goldencrestmetals.com Protect Remember, you can hear my radio program daily on Sirius XM Triumph and connect with me 24 7@drlaura.com Cute article. It's not cute, it's kind of profound. And it's a place I've mentioned before Christmas goodmen project.com and it's called Mantras I live by that changed how I see life. What is a mantra? A phrase you repeat to yourself. It's not magic, it's practice. And it will shape how you think. Act in the direction of your becoming. So let me just handle a few of these that I think are wonderful. So the first mantra he gave was from Nathaniel Brandon. The first step toward change is awareness. The second step is acceptance, he writes. You can't change what you don't see. Most people try to fix their lives by doing more more habits, more goals, more noise. But transformation starts with awareness of the patterns you keep repeating, the excuses you keep recycling, and the stories you keep telling yourself. So change doesn't begin with action. It begins with honesty. When you become aware, stop running on autopilot and start making choices that actually serve you. That's when change will occur. Second one he offers is have big dreams. You'll grow into them. That one was interesting. What exactly does he mean? Norman Vincent Peale. Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars. Hmm. Most people wait until they feel ready. I'm not ready to change. I've had people say that. Yeah, I'm not ready. I know I should leave and I should do, but I'm not ready yet. I don't know how they think they're going to get ready. You're never going to truly feel ready. Readiness comes every after you start, not before you grow into being ready. Think back when you tried anything. New job, whatever. Your first real risk, you weren't ready. But you figured it out along the way. That's how growth works. So have big dreams. Stretch. Even if you fall short at first or always, you will land further ahead than if you had played it safe. So don't wait until you feel totally prepared. It ain't going to happen. Number three. If you want to achieve greatness, stop asking for permission. What does that mean? The quote, the mantra. Napoleon Hill. Do not wait. The time will never be just right. Start where you stand. When you're a kid, you want to do something, you have to raise your hand. Ask for permission. Permission is kind of a trap. The more you seek it, the more power you give away. You want to be great. It doesn't come from waiting. It comes from making decisions. Enough of needing everybody's approval. Take action. Number four. Picasso. Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working. Inspiration does exist, but it has to find you working. That means as you're working, inspiration will germinate. Now there's a precursor. We love the idea of talent. It often makes people look like their success is effortless. But talent without effort is wasted potential. So anything that's been a masterpiece, a painting, a book, a business or a song, lots of unseen work. Drafts, rewrites, mistakes, do overs. Creativity demands sweat. Discipline is the fuel that turns ideas into something real. Lazy artists don't make masterpieces. They make excuses. Keep showing up, keep working hard, and you will ultimately leave something behind that is worth remembering. Benjamin Franklin. This topic is, as you know more, you grow more. Benjamin Franklin said, an investment in knowledge pays the best interest. And I would say a huge proportion of the people of the United States of America, much less the entire world, don't have much knowledge, but a lot of opinions, a lot of opinions without knowledge. Very dangerous. You know why? Because I think what's happened that's hurt so many families and people with different political ideologies is it becomes their identity. I am because I foster this ideology. And that's why it's hard to get into discussions with that sort of person, because it becomes a personal attack, not a political discussion in their minds anyway. An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. Benjamin Franklin said, knowledge is fuel for growth. Every book you read, every conversation you have, every mistake you reflect on, That's growth. It isn't about waking up one morning and being transformed. It's about accumulating insights. And each new thing you learn gives you a sharper perspective and the ability to make smarter moves. The truth is, the fastest way to stay stuck is stop learning. The more you know, the further you can grow. Number six Forget the mistake. Remember the lesson. Henry Ford. You can say some good things and bad things about Sir Henry Ford. Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently. I love that I've been commenting about that as I'm learning to work with leather to making all sorts of leather products. First time I messed up and leather is not cheap unless you're buying junk. But you know whether it's cheap or not, you hate to mess up a whole piece of leather. And the first time I did that I just looked at it and went oh my God, I forgot blankety blank and blankety blankety blank. I stood there for a while looking at it and I thought, yeah, but now I know how to do it right. So it's a small price, small price to pay for me knowing how to do it right. So failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently. I love it. Life doesn't have to be so complicated. Walmart helps you simplify. I want to continue talking about the mantras. I got six of them done. I have four more to go. Hermann Hess said some of us think holding on makes us strong. But sometimes it is letting go of a relationship, a routine, an identity, an opinion. We cling because it's familiar and we think it's keeping us safe. Letting go often isn't about giving up. It's about clearing up space. When you release the noise, the unnecessary and the expectations, what matters most will remain. So sometimes it's really good to let go. Number eight unknown person. It's not about having time, it's about making time for what matters. Success doesn't necessarily come from grinding longer hours, burning yourself out. Instead, focus strategy. Working smarter means prioritizing what actually moves the needle. Sometimes you have to take a lot off your plate in order to make anything work. Time is finite, energy limited. So the smarter you work, the more of both you keep for the things that actually matter minus your self indulgent guilt. How can guilt be self indulgent? Think about it, it is. Number nine, be your own sunshine. Dalai Lama said happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions. I like when they all support what I've been saying don't wait for the world to brighten your day, be the light that lifts it. I like that line. Don't wait for the world to brighten your day. Be the light. Be the light that illuminates it. Relying on external validation, Relying on it. Praise, attention, approval basically puts your happiness in someone else's hands. It's really nice to get validation, but when you learn to generate your own, Then you've got power. Last but not least, be the flame, not the moth. Ralph Waldo Emerson do not go where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. I like that imagery. The flame doesn't chase anything, it just burns. It radiates warmth, energy, direction. The moth goes from one light to the next, dependent on the light. Being the flame means cultivating your own fire, which means values, your work, the sense of self. It's about living with intention instead of just reacting. Don't chase the light, be the light, be the flame, not the moth. If you want to read this article in great depth, goodmen project.com 10 mantras really good. Well written of smart people out there.
