And now the Adventures of Charlie Lund. In Arizona at the Lazy Y Ranch, its owner, Gold Pan Jeffers, is staging an indoor fiesta celebrating the narrow escape from hanging at the hands of El Lobo the bandit and the safe return of the cattle money. By Charlie Lund. The big ranch barn packed with cowhands and Ojiwa Indians fairly rocks on a stage at one end of the barn, accompanied by the Lazy Y All Mal six gun fire Little Charlie sings song after song.
Charlie Lung
I don't want a youth in her or she too fat for me she too fat for me she too fat for me. I don't want her. You can have her. She's too daddy for me. She too fat she too fat, she's too fat for me.
Narrator / Hal Gibney
Meanwhile, over the border at El Diablo and The rowdy cantina, Mr. Fitzmaurice and Meadows, heads pillowed in their arms on a tabletop, pretend sleep, straining their ears to catch each word spoken by the Black Guard Del Lobo to his companion seated at the table beside him. And despite the fact that he has lost the stolen gold to the Lazy Y riders, El Lobo seems in fine spirit.
El Lobo / Samuel
That link is good one, eh? Wash the dust on my throat.
Charlie Lung
Now what we do in Lobo?
El Lobo / Samuel
Now what we do? Look out of the window. You see the sun has not yet set. That means we have plenty of time to rest, Dimilo. Then we ride again to the Lazy Boy Range show.
Charlie Lung
But why we go back to the ranks to dice on you?
El Lobo / Samuel
Because it is the last thing Jeffrey would expect. Now he get back to Gordon, ride to his ranch. He think he is safe.
Charlie Lung
He had many riders there at the ranch and they will all fight good.
El Lobo / Samuel
They will not fight us, Pedro.
Charlie Lung
Why not, senor?
El Lobo / Samuel
Because they are not going to see us. That is why at midnight tonight when they are all asleep, we slip up to their aunt's house. This time I have one friend that Cannot fail. When tomorrow comes, old fan Jeff and all his friends will be no more.
Charlie Lung
Nathaniel, what are you going to do to him?
El Lobo / Samuel
Never mind, never mind. I have one big idea. Go on. You finish your drink. First we go to the barn, give the horses rub down, and then we sleep until midnight. Oh, bueno. I finish cleaning. Hello. All right, now come loose. Now we go to the barn. How did you. You work like old woman. We give my black beauty Lorraine extra corn to eat. Eight. Eight. Them brighters are gone, Mr. Hitch. Morris. Oh. Oh, mercy.
Gold Pan Jeffers / Baron Tubsca
Thank heaven for that.
El Lobo / Samuel
You know, lying face down on this table in the middle of this Mexican
Narrator / Hal Gibney
food is not too inspiring.
El Lobo / Samuel
Oh, I've got tamales all over me. This hot sauce is literally running out of my ears. Oh, blimey.
Gold Pan Jeffers / Baron Tubsca
Now what, sir?
El Lobo / Samuel
We didn't learn very much, did we, sir? You'd think that.
Gold Pan Jeffers / Baron Tubsca
Hey, Arthur Mo, will you let me
El Lobo / Samuel
wipe them beans off your chin?
Gold Pan Jeffers / Baron Tubsca
I'll take the footmarks.
El Lobo / Samuel
That's all right. Someone who'll color your coat too, I might say, sir. And all we found out was that
Gold Pan Jeffers / Baron Tubsca
them bandits is going to strike at midnight tonight, sir.
Narrator / Hal Gibney
Oh, how right, fellows.
El Lobo / Samuel
But at least this time we were warned, weren't we? Them bandits don't start out until midnight. We got plenty of time to warn everybody at the lazy wire, we said,
Gold Pan Jeffers / Baron Tubsca
I suppose, that we should start out now though, anyway.
El Lobo / Samuel
Yes, we, we should. We certainly have hours to prepare a warm reception for those vile lusters.
Narrator / Hal Gibney
I, I, I better watch myself or
El Lobo / Samuel
someday you'll hear me laughing. But confidentially, this is.
Gold Pan Jeffers / Baron Tubsca
Once I feel we'll really outweigh that cheap thug El Lobo.
Narrator / Hal Gibney
I do.
Charlie Lung
So, Elobo, if we do not leave until midnight, I would like very much
El Lobo / Samuel
to go and see my girl Conchita before we go away. No, no, Harry quizzes to rebound now. We are going to take shortcut to Lazy Y.
Gold Pan Jeffers / Baron Tubsca
But Samuel, you say in the cantina
Charlie Lung
we do not leave until midnight.
El Lobo / Samuel
That is what I say in cantina for. Hurry now, Matano.
Charlie Lung
Why do you change your mind?
El Lobo / Samuel
I do not change my mind, Pedro. I say that for those two from the Lazy Y who listen to us from the next table. Pretend to be sleepy. Fool.
Gold Pan Jeffers / Baron Tubsca
You mean they are spy, Pedro.
Charlie Lung
They are spy.
El Lobo / Samuel
So I make one plan for them and one plan for us. A treat, Pedro. I like to play a game of cat and mouse when I am catching. Nice. You waited for me, huh? Wait onto your horse. Find out how do you love him. Oh. Oh, my.

Charlie Lung
This time we play all that next to both and careful. Run. Run like the wind.
El Lobo / Samuel
Wow.
Narrator / Hal Gibney
El Lobo and Gomez gallop for the badlands. While Meadows and Fitz Morris, unaware of the trickery, ride at an easy lope along the regular trail. The two bandits head straight for Rattlesnake Canyon shortcut to the Lazy wide. Soon they are slowed down to a walk as their powerful horses climb the narrow trail leading thousands of feet to the top of the canyon. As their horses strain to reach the timberline far above, a pair of keen black eyes peer down through the dense pines. A lone Indian brave of the Ojiwa tribe sights the sombre guard figure on the great black mare and recognizes El Lobo the bandit. Quickly, the Indian darts back into the pines. After a moment of deep forest silence, a war drum telegraphs the message of approaching danger. The tom tom beats are dismissed by El Lobo as only the drums of some tribal rice in a nearby Indian village. And he and Pedro continue their tram. Back at the Lazy Y, Chief Big Horse and his braves mounted on their tough little ponies are about to bid farewell to Gold Pan Jefferson, Professor Beerstone, Cyclone Charlie and Gold Pan stand on the broad ranch house veranda preparing to wave goodbye to the red men.
El Lobo / Samuel
Chief Big Horse make thank you white men for great kindness to my trade.
Charlie Lung
Well, Chief, glad you had a good time. Come swiggle me. You done us a mighty big favor. Yes, Sree. If it hadn't been few Injuns and char here. It all been hung to that trident El Robo guy. Ain't that right, Professor?
El Lobo / Samuel
Yeah. We shall never forget how you and your Ojiwa braves saved us. We are all very grateful, Chief. Yes, sir. God.
Charlie Lung
For a while there, you know, I was sure my neck was going to be stretched like a rubber band.
El Lobo / Samuel
We glad to help. Ojiwa and lazy Y rider are as brother always hold hold next to herself.
Charlie Lung
Listen.
El Lobo / Samuel
I hear drum of my lookout guard.
Charlie Lung
All quiet.
El Lobo / Samuel
Me Mike listen.
Charlie Lung
Say, Chief, what's that? Tom. Tom German mean.
El Lobo / Samuel
It mean white brother. My lookout. Brave who stand high on mountain above Rattlesnake Canyon see two rider climb up trail. He say one of them bandit El
Charlie Lung
lobo Elobo dead rush. So ease ahead and this way is he.
El Lobo / Samuel
This time bandit no escape. Me and my brave ride back down trail to border. Circle back in behind them. You make the track from front. We not minute to waste.
Charlie Lung
Say, that's a dandy idea. Dandy. Dandy, Dandy.
El Lobo / Samuel
Soon they be at summit of Onion. We ride Washi Soho ride.
Charlie Lung

El Lobo / Samuel

Charlie Lung

El Lobo / Samuel

Charlie Lung
This time we want to get that monk as sure enough. Hold on, Mr.
El Lobo / Samuel

Charlie Lung
I'll come here very quick this time. He bound it and all get away. Hee hee.
El Lobo / Samuel
Are you against the horses? Get on him. We ain't got a minute to waste. Is your horse, Charlie.
Charlie Lung
Thank you very much.
El Lobo / Samuel
Right with you, Charlie.
Charlie Lung
There we go.
El Lobo / Samuel
Easy now, gents.
Charlie Lung
Looks like we're all ready to ride. Now, all of you, check your six guns and rifles. That bandit rat ain't gonna give up easy.
El Lobo / Samuel
Hold on.
Charlie Lung
Stand me still. I'll think him more better. We mighty hurry soon done when he said.
El Lobo / Samuel
Yeah, you ain't a kidding. Let's get riding. We ought to meet up with him there just the same time as them engines closing on from the rear.
Charlie Lung
Come on.
El Lobo / Samuel
That's right. J. Come on. Come on.
Narrator / Hal Gibney
The lazy Y riders sweep from the ranch house at a full gallop, eyes lifted to the high walls of Rattlesnake Canyon. And their fresh horses maintain a reckless speed until they hit the draw that leads to the mountaintop. As the trail narrows, they are forced to proceed single file at a slow walk over the boulders and loose shale. Jeffers at the head of the column holds up his hands and signals for a halt.
Charlie Lung
Easy there, fellas. Easy there. Easy there. Put up them horses.
El Lobo / Samuel
Yeah, for Mr. Goping. Whoa there, Sham. I guess this is as far as we go.
Charlie Lung
Stop it.
El Lobo / Samuel
Well, what's your next move, Old Bang?
Charlie Lung
Get all our horses hitting that cave over there. Then they ain't gonna get hit with some bullet stuff.
Gold Pan Jeffers / Baron Tubsca
Brand.
Charlie Lung
Jimmy.
El Lobo / Samuel
Jimmy o'. Keefe.
Charlie Lung
Move all them critters in there, will you?
El Lobo / Samuel
All right, sir. I'm moving quick. I need now gold Pan. Are we going the rest of the way on foot?
Charlie Lung
No, no, sir. No, sir. Williams is going to get behind these big rocks scattered over the trail. Draw our six guns.
El Lobo / Samuel
Well?
Charlie Lung
No good. Next side.
El Lobo / Samuel
Windy.
Charlie Lung
Go on. He's come down that narrow pass.
El Lobo / Samuel
He'll have a bead on him.
Charlie Lung
Yes, sir. He'll reach for the sky.
El Lobo / Samuel
Or else say Godzilla with them engine coming up behind him had nothing but misery. Well, Kelly, gents, better plan. I got to let you rock it. That dry Wilson bandit is going through mighty soon. Now get your boulders off. Now. Come on, John. Come on. Get your gun.
Narrator / Hal Gibney
Carefully, the lazy y riders take cover behind the boulders that dot the narrow trail. Meanwhile, on the rear trail leading to the summit, Chief Big Horse and his braves sit motionless upon their well trained ponies, the slowly sinking sun highlighting their bronze skins and war bonnets. Grimly they wait the message of the Tom tom from the hidden lookout. The message that will tell them El Lobo has reached the small plateau that parallels the drop into Rattlesnake Canyon. Suddenly the Ojiwa drum speaks and it speaks of death. At its sound, the two bandit horsemen, without knowing why, stiffen slightly in their saddle. The lazy y riders crouch behind their rocks. Check six guns and rifles. The Indians draw cruel tipped arrows from beaded quivers. It is but a matter of moments before El Lobo and Gormez will face double ambush.
Charlie Lung
Listen,
Narrator / Hal Gibney
In a moment we'll return to the adventures of Charlie Leung. Here is the most important reminder. The American Red Cross Dartmouth its annual campaign for funds next month in March. Be sure to make your plans now to be extra generous. Because the job the Red Cross must do is even so much bigger than before. Just think, it's going to take $75 million to do the work that is absolutely necessary. Yes, there's the high cost of living. And the dollar isn't worth all it used to be.
El Lobo / Samuel
That's true.
Narrator / Hal Gibney
But friends, human needs have not shrunk. Human needs have grown greater.
El Lobo / Samuel
Human.
Narrator / Hal Gibney
The things the Red Cross does for humanity. Makes a list much too long to tell you about now. So I won't go into that. I'll just say that the Red Cross reaches into every town in America. You are the Red Cross serving humanity with your contributions. So be more generous than ever. Remember, Charlie Leung says to help because
Charlie Lung
of duty, quite fine.
El Lobo / Samuel
But to give from Heart is more sublime.
Narrator / Hal Gibney
And now back to the adventures of Charlie Lung El Lobo, most feared bandit north and south of the border. And his henchman, Pedro Gomez reached the small mesa that stands high on the rim of Rattlesnake Canyon. Little do they suspect that before them, guns in hand, await the Lazy Y riders. And behind them, Chief Big Horse and his brave slowly close in. The bandits sit on their powerful horses for a brief rest before their descent upon the Lazy Wife for a sneak attack on Gulp and jeopardy.
El Lobo / Samuel
Steady, my black beauty. I wish you to rest the before we go down the trail.
Gold Pan Jeffers / Baron Tubsca
Those fool are going to be very
El Lobo / Samuel
surprised this time no see, this time I have planned. Pedro, I. I tell you when we get near range. When I am through, nobody at the Lazy Y will be alive to tell this story. Gold Pan je is going to learn. Nobody can enthink eloquence you arrest, huh? Good. Now we start down the narrow trail. Come, my beauty. Easy now. Come. You ride close to me, Pedro. Trail is narrow, covered in rock. Careful, my black one. We have plenty of time down. Where you going?
Charlie Lung
This shortcut trail is very rough.
El Lobo / Samuel
Very rough, but very quick, Eh, eh. You keep your eye open, we be all right. What is the money, Larry? We are safe. All of a sudden you act like nervous old woman. Daddy. My great one, tell me how they do fear. Soon we shall see the Lazy Y below. Then we start something, eh?
Charlie Lung
Reach the skywire.
El Lobo / Samuel
Hold on. Set it. Gonna pull your gun play through.
Charlie Lung
Come, son. You know keep your hands away from your guns. All right.
El Lobo / Samuel
Again.
Charlie Lung
We've backed every rock down here. Can I charge you gun, senor?
El Lobo / Samuel
Alarm, but no. They will be dead before they can get our gun from the holster. I'll talk to them and start for time. Let me handle this thing, Senori. Spirit. We can still ride back. We are not dead until shot.
Charlie Lung
Listen, you try that. Hello, boat. There's a surprise waiting for you. Trail behind you. Full of old gy engines.
El Lobo / Samuel
Caramba. The Cosido Jiwa. No. Quiet. This I do not believe. If I was sure Indians were there. We drop our guns and come down to you. But I think you found me lie. I would rather die with my gun speaking death to you. Hello.
Charlie Lung
You cheap pinhorn. If that's the way you feel about it, why don't you ride back up the rim up there, take a look. See them Indians. I ain't for spilling a lot of blood. We aim to take your lives. And I'm telling you, you can't escape anyhow. You better get some moving there. Check up on him. If he ain't back in five minutes, we coming up where you're shooting.
El Lobo / Samuel
You do not have to worry, seor. If those Kidojiwa Indian are on the back trail, we come down and without gun Come rain. Come. Come quickly. We shall now find out the truth.
Charlie Lung
Why you stop here animation? Are you not going on your back trail to look for the Indian?
El Lobo / Samuel
No, you fool. Get off your horse. I know the Indians are there. Do you think Gold Pan is fool enough to let us get out from under his guns?
Charlie Lung
If they are not, then alone we are really trapped. There is no escape from these men, Mason. There is not even trail down from south side and on the west. I know 20 the great Gul that dropped down thousands of feet. What can we do?
El Lobo / Samuel
Stand. Sure. Listen to me. We only have five minutes. Then those lazy wild rider will come up and get us as soon as their guns speak. Those Ojiwa Indians in a cartoon. But we still have one chance in million to escape. Escape?
Charlie Lung
But how? I lobo.
El Lobo / Samuel
We are going to make our horses jump the gorge in the canyon.
Charlie Lung
Jump the canyon? But Samuel, no horse can jump that hard. We will fall to death. No, no, Samuel.
El Lobo / Samuel
Gibbling on, woman. You are going to be killed anyway. Better we try to jump from Devil's Springboard by gorge narrow.
Charlie Lung
But we'll be afraid.
El Lobo / Samuel
Maybe this stop your fear.
Charlie Lung
You point your gun at me alone. Hey.
El Lobo / Samuel
And I pull the trigger if you do not abett him. No. Underneath we strip the saddle off both horses.
Charlie Lung
You see?
El Lobo / Samuel
I do.
Gold Pan Jeffers / Baron Tubsca
I take off this time.
El Lobo / Samuel
Hurry.
Charlie Lung
Hurry with your cinches.
El Lobo / Samuel
Leave nothing on but the bridles. Every ounce of this jump would come. Uncle don't have a two minute
Charlie Lung
there at his channel.
El Lobo / Samuel
Now hurry, hurry. You quickly mount your horse.
Charlie Lung
Say, say how old man? Well, I tell you, Samuel, these horses will never clear the go.
El Lobo / Samuel
You will never know if you not proud.
Charlie Lung
But Samuel, your great mare is so strong. Maybe she can make this jump.
El Lobo / Samuel
You stupid. One horse you ride is second only to her. I steal your chiquit and horse you ride Mitch Americano overs. Boy. She's the fastest one in Arizona. The Jew touch no one. You can trust that beast.
Charlie Lung
Can I try to make you jump?
El Lobo / Samuel
Can you? Now we start slow, low, easy.
Charlie Lung
Come, come. My dad.
El Lobo / Samuel
Stay with me, people. When I try to turn back, I'll blow your head off. Now, Miguel. Fast, fast. Hook.
Charlie Lung
Hook.
El Lobo / Samuel
I got one this time as a jump for lion.
Charlie Lung
Now, Pedro, use your spur. Now, my black beardy. Pedro, my black beauty. We have made the jump. Pedro, quickly. Your Horse is sleeping. We're in the house. He's safe now. Can you. But we are not.
El Lobo / Samuel
Look over the gorge. Lazy White Rider enter the mace. Come. We must ride for our lie. Now we head into the trees and down to Baron Satka's new hiding place, the lost mine. Cedi, Lauren, look.
Charlie Lung
They hear from the Manchester. They're going to shoot.
El Lobo / Samuel
And they ride.
Charlie Lung
Up high. Fellow trees. Run, my black beauty. Run like the wind.
Narrator / Hal Gibney
El Lobo and Gomez, riding like mad men, dodge the gunfire of the Lazy Y riders and disappear into the dense pine trees. Gold Pan Jeffers and the ranch hands are quickly joined by the Ogwa bridge. Who cannot believe the two bandits could have made the tremendous leap over the gorge. This is indeed a bitter pill for them to swallow. Realizing pursuit now would be hopeless. The disappointed riders turn from the mesa and ride away. Meanwhile, the two bandits ride recklessly down through the pines and head into the badlands. Just as the great Arizona sun sets red on the far mountain peaks, they pull their sweating horses to a stop before an old abandoned mine. This is the lost mine, new headquarters of Belen Tudska, the mysterious foreigner who so desires the ownership of the Lazy Y Ranch. Quickly, El Lobo and Gomez make their way into a dark shaft that drives straight into the hillside. They knock on a door and are admitted to a small, well lit, well appointed room where sits Baron Tubsca. El Lobo rapidly tells of his disastrous adventures during the past few hours. The Baron, his evil face flushed, rises from his chair.
Gold Pan Jeffers / Baron Tubsca
This is ridiculous. So, you blundering idiot, we are still no nearer to the ownership of the Lazy White Ranch than we were a month ago.
El Lobo / Samuel
Senrod, you cannot always win.
Gold Pan Jeffers / Baron Tubsca
You seem never to win. You think, Elobo? The only means of beating a man in Arizona is with a six gun.
El Lobo / Samuel
Let me tell you.
Gold Pan Jeffers / Baron Tubsca
From now on, I shall take complete charge of every move against Gold Pan Jephel.
El Lobo / Samuel
I need but one more time, senor. This time I swear I will kill Jeffers with my own bare hands.
Gold Pan Jeffers / Baron Tubsca
You hulking fool. Killing only jeopardy is not enough. Do you not realize how vitally important it is that I get access to the deposit hidden beneath the Lazy Y? With it, we can dictate to the world. This time we shall try brains versus brawn. Could you possibly comprehend that I have a plan that will possibly convince you. Convince you that brains are more important? We shall go into action tonight at midnight. This time, Jeffer and all his friends shall be destroyed.
Narrator / Hal Gibney
So Baron Supska takes command. This really spells danger to the Lazy Y. For the diabolical mind of the baron. Plus, El Lobo's brutal desire for vengeance can well mean the most powerful move against the Lazy Y Ranch ever formulated by its enemies. Be sure to listen next week when Charlie Lung and the Lazy Y rider face hooded horror.
El Lobo / Samuel

In this thrilling installment of "The Adventures of Charlie Lung," the Lazy Y Ranch is thrown into danger once again. The episode, "Leap for Life," centers on a daring plot by the infamous bandit El Lobo and his sidekick Pedro Gomez. As the Lazy Y celebrates a narrowly-averted disaster, El Lobo hatches a new scheme to seize the ranch’s hidden riches. The episode unfolds as a classic Western standoff, complete with deception, double-crosses, a dramatic canyon leap, and an ending that teases even greater threats to come.
"I don't want a youth in her or she too fat for me... She's too fat, she's too fat for me." (02:03, Charlie Lung)
"Because it is the last thing Jeffrey would expect. ... I have one friend that cannot fail. When tomorrow comes, old fan Jeff and all his friends will be no more."
—El Lobo (03:22)
"Let me wipe them beans off your chin?”
—El Lobo, mocking post-cantina mess (05:08)
El Lobo and Gomez take a secret shortcut through Rattlesnake Canyon, aiming to outflank the ranchers.
An Ojiwa Indian lookout spies El Lobo and sends a warning via war drums.
Big Horse and the Ojiwa braves pledge ongoing alliance and gratitude for past aid.
Quote of Brotherhood:
"Ojiwa and Lazy Y rider are as brother always hold hold next to herself."
—Chief Big Horse (11:02)
As the drums sound, Charlie coordinates a classic pincer move:
"Check your six guns and rifles. That bandit rat ain't gonna give up easy."
—Charlie Lung (12:40)
El Lobo realizes the trap; both front and rear escapes are blocked. In desperation, he hatches a wild plan—leap the gorge of Rattlesnake Canyon on horseback.
Pedro Gomez is terrified, but El Lobo threatens him at gunpoint:
"Gibbling on, woman. You are going to be killed anyway. Better we try to jump from Devil's Springboard by gorge narrow."
—El Lobo (22:38)
The dramatic moment: Both men strip their horses of saddles to lighten the load and charge at the gorge, successfully making the "leap for life."
Pursuers are left shocked and unable to follow:
"They cannot believe the two bandits could have made the tremendous leap over the gorge. This is indeed a bitter pill for them to swallow."
—Narrator (25:13)
El Lobo and Gomez flee to an abandoned mine, the new lair of Baron Tubsca.
Baron Tubsca berates the bandits and asserts his control, promising to use brains over brawn to destroy the Lazy Y.
Notable exchange:
"You seem never to win. ... From now on, I shall take complete charge of every move against Gold Pan Jephel."
—Baron Tubsca (26:41, 26:52)
"This time we shall try brains versus brawn. ... This time, Jeffer and all his friends shall be destroyed."
—Baron Tubsca (27:06–27:58)
"This really spells danger to the Lazy Y. ... Be sure to listen next week when Charlie Lung and the Lazy Y rider face hooded horror."
—Narrator (27:58)
