of the sea hound.
Captain Silver
With captain silver and jerry.
Tex
Jerry K. After him.
Captain Silver
It's Boomu. He's shooting at me.
Narrator
Remember the exciting moment when our story ended yesterday? Captain Silver's wrestling match with Eco the Jap came to an abrupt conclusion when the Captain caught him attempting to apply a secret death hole that would have broken the Captain's neck. Losing his temper for once at the Jap's trickery, Captain Silver sent him sprawling to the mat with a right hook. At that moment, however, Boom Boom, hidden in the ringside crowd and apparently angered by the failure of his plan, started shooting at the Master of the Sea.
Tex
Going up. Come on, you.
Jerry
Which way did he go, Ted?
Tex
Oh, Dog gone?
Senor Waldman
I don't know.
Tex
Turn that way.
Captain Silver
But I don't see him.
Jerry
Hey, there he is. He's in that doorway down there. Come on.
Tex
There he goes. Watch out for that gun, Yeran.
Senor Waldman
See?
Jerry
He won't shoot here on the street.
Narrator
Where'd he go?
Jerry
He turned down here. Down this alley. Come on. But we better take it easy.
Tex
No, no, Yellow.
Captain Silver
Hold on.
Senor Waldman
Huh?
Tex
I think we stop right here. I don't like the look of this place.
Jerry
Why not?
Tex
Even if he wanted to use that gun, this is just the place to do it.
Jerry
Oh, yeah. But we can't let him get away, Tek.
Tex
Ah, we'll watch right here for a minute and see what happens.
Jerry
All right?
Captain Silver
Yeah.
Tex
Looks like a dead end to me. Either he's going to ground down in here, or he'll have to come out and get over there in the shelter of this wall. Make a fine target for him with a street light shining in the back of you.
Captain Silver
Come on.
Tex
Come on. Come on over here with me.
Narrator
Okay.
Tex
You can watch down there. We can peek around the edge of the building there.
Captain Silver
See?
Jerry
Gee, Tex, how do you suppose Boom Boom got here in Ikique?
Tex
Search me, son.
Captain Silver
I don't know.
Tex
Sea's a big highway, though. Take you almost anywhere as you want to go.
Jerry
But if he's here, the phantom ship, the Flying Dutchman can't be very far away.
Tex
I don't know about that. This coast here in the northern part of Chile don't offer very many places to hide a ship as big as his'.
Senor Waldman
N. You see anything?
Jerry
No, not a thing. What's the matter?
Tex
Show's over. What show? With the wrestlers. Crowds coming out.
Captain Silver
Yeah, see?
Tex
You see him down the street there? Oh, I guess Captain Silver's little performance stopped the show, all right.
Senor Waldman
I wonder why Captain Silver Took a punch at him.
Tex
He probably started to wrestle dirty. That's why Captain won't put up with anything like that.
Jerry
Yeah, but that was truck of some
Tex
in my eye, didn't he? Well, now, listen, you better start back there and get the Captain. I'll stay on guard right here and watch for Boom Boom. Bring the Captain here and tell him what happened.
Jerry
Okay, Tex. I'll be back in a minute. Captain Silver.
Captain Silver
Gary, where is he? Which way did he go?
Jerry
This way, Captain Silver. He turned down a kind of a blind alley and Tex didn't think we should follow him. Tex is watching it now.
Captain Silver
Well, come along.
Jerry
Hey, where's Senor Waldman?
Captain Silver
I don't know. Got lost in the crowd, I guess.
Jerry
What happened after we left?
Captain Silver
They stopped the show.
Jerry
Did you knock it go out?
Captain Silver
For a minute or two. Then that barker got him up on his feet and hustled him out. We'll see him again. We're going to get text and start moving.
Jerry
Yeah, we ought to find Boom Boom. Why did you take a punch at ego, Captain Silver?
Captain Silver
Because of something he did, Jerry.
Senor Waldman
What?
Captain Silver
Remember that fellow Tex found floating in the water?
Narrator
Huh?
Jerry
Oh, you mean that fellow Berg, the one you said was tipping off Boom Boom about the ships leaving ikike?
Captain Silver
Yes, that's the one. I didn't tell you in, Tex, but Berg died of a broken neck. Huh? A very queer kind of a break, too. The only possible way it can be made is with a secret death hole that snaps a man's neck.
Jerry
Jiminy Crickets. Eco knows it.
Captain Silver
Yes, and he tried to put it on me back there in the ring. That's why I knocked him down.
Jerry
Holy smokes, Jerry.
Captain Silver
Who told you about that hole? That Eco knew it.
Jerry
The same fellow that told me everything else I know about Eco. That little cockney elf. He saw what Eco was trying to do. He wanted to stop you. He was going to jump up in the ring.
Captain Silver
Well, fortunately, I know that secret death hole, too, Jerry. A Hindu yogi taught it to my father, and my father taught it to me. When I realized what that fellow was trying to do, I lost my temper. I'd warned him. He tried one or two other dirty tricks.
Jerry
Now, there's Tex. Did he come out, Tex?
Tex
No, no, no. Ain't been nothing happening down there. Ain't heard a sound or seen a thing.
Captain Silver
Hello, Captain. You all right? Yes, yes, I'm all right. Texas. Hmm. Not a very pleasant looking place. Good thing you stayed out of there.
Tex
Well, I figured he could be waiting for us down there with that gun cock what do we do, Captain?
Captain Silver
I think we'd better get the police after Boom Boom. Kikique is not a very big place, and if we move quickly, they may be able to pick him up. But we've got to move fast. If he gets back in the water, it'll be like looking for a needle in a haystack again. Who's that?
Jerry
Looks like Senor Waldman.
Captain Silver
Oh. Oh, Captain Silver.
Senor Waldman
My friends, I. I lost you. What happened?
Captain Silver
Jerry and Tex here tried to catch the man who fired those shots at me, Senor Waldman. But I'm afraid he got away.
Senor Waldman
Who was he?
Captain Silver
The man we discussed at that meeting the other day. Commodore Van Boomhaven, eh? The captain of that Nazi raider, the phantom ships. The one called Boom Boom in person.
Senor Waldman
But what is he doing here in Iquique?
Captain Silver
We'll see if we can't catch him and find out.
Senor Waldman
Where is he? Where did he go?
Captain Silver
Vanished down this alley here. We won't take any chances with him. I want to get to Senor Cuesta as quickly as possible. Something else has come up, too.
Senor Waldman
Or let me get a taxi cab. I will take you to Senor Cuesta's hotel.
Captain Silver
Oh, that'll be fine, Senor Walman. In the meantime, I want to get to a telephone.
Senor Waldman
Well, there will be one in that shop across the street. Jerry.
Jerry
Yes, Senor Waldman.
Senor Waldman
There will be a taxicab down there at the corner. You go down and get one while I take Captain Silver to the telephone. Yes, sir. Now, you come over here, Captain Silver, across the street. The telephone is that sharp? Yes. See, there's a sign outside.
Tex
I'll wait here, Captain Silver, just in case Boom Boom does come out.
Captain Silver
No, no. Come across the street. Tex, watch outside the shop. You can see down this alley from over there. Then if you do sight him, you can call me.
Tex
Okay, sir.
Senor Waldman
Are you ready, Captain Silver?
Captain Silver
Yes, yes. Let's go.
Senor Waldman
Now, you are positive the man who fired the shots was this fabulous character, this Boom Boom?
Captain Silver
Oh, I'd know him anywhere, Senor Waldman. He was Boom Boom.
Senor Waldman
All right, tell me what. What happened in the ring, Captain Silver? Why did you suddenly hit the wrestler?
Captain Silver
He knows too many dirty tricks for his own good, so tried to put a very dangerous hold on me that I recognized. Might have broken my neck.
Senor Waldman
You don't say.
Captain Silver
But I understood what he was trying to do. That's why I knocked him down. Then Boom Boom fired at me. I was standing there alone in the center of the ring and probably made a good target.
Senor Waldman
Oh, they have a telephone Here. There it is, in the back. Go in, Captain Silver.
Captain Silver
You wait here, Tex.
Tex
I will, Captain.
Senor Waldman
Can I help you, Captain Silver? Make your call, I mean.
Captain Silver
No, I know Senor Cuesta's number. El telephoneo, senor.
Narrator
Si, senor.
Captain Silver
Yeah, here we are.
Narrator
Captain Silver prepares to call Senor Cuesta, his Chilean friend. All unaware that Senor Waldman hovering solicitously at his side, his hand in glove with Boom Boom. In all his schemes, Waldman listens sharply as Captain Silver talks to Senor Cuesta.
Captain Silver
Hello, Senor Cuesta? Captain Silver, Are you at the hotel? Oh, fine, fine. I'll be right over and listen. In the meantime, get in touch with the police. Boom Boom's in town? Yes, Boom Boom himself. No, no, I didn't expect to see him here either. I thought he was a couple of hundred miles out at sea. Oh, and better notify your naval authorities too. Admiral Savannah, if Boom Boom's here, that phantom craft may be somewhere in the vicinity. Though I can't imagine where he'd hide her along this coast. Oh, yes, yes, and one other thing. While you're talking to the police, have them check up on the whereabouts of a fellow who calls himself Wong the Ferocious. Yeah? Yes, he's been running a kind of wrestling show here on that street just around the corner from the Imperial Hotel. Hmm. What? Well, because you may want him arrested too. I'll tell you about that when I see you. I'm coming right over here. Goodbye, Senor Cuesta. Now, we'll get over at the hotel.
Senor Waldman
Oh, yes, Captain Silva. The boy is outside with a taxicab.
Captain Silver
Well, we really should walk. We're not very far. But I'm very anxious to talk to Senor Cuesta.
Senor Waldman
Oh, you are going to see Senor Cuesta now?
Captain Silver
Yes, at once.
Jerry
Here's a taxi cab, Captain Silva.
Captain Silver
Oh, thanks, Jerry. Go ahead. You and Tex get in. No sign of Boom Boom Texas?
Tex
Oh, not so far, Captain. Must be a way out of that place that we can't see from out here.
Captain Silver
Well, it's all right. I put the police on this trail. Go ahead and get in. Yes, sir. Come on, Senor Walman, wanna come along?
Senor Waldman
No, I. I think not. Now, Captain Silva, if you don't mind, I. I'm very sorry the evening was not more enjoyable.
Captain Silver
But it was enjoyable, Senor Waldman. I enjoyed every minute of it.
Senor Waldman
Oh, well, you want to see Senor Cuesta on confidential business, so I. I make my excuses.
Captain Silver
Well, you know what we plan to do.
Senor Waldman
Oh, yes, of course. And I hope nothing goes amiss, Captain Silva. Well, I would say buenos noches.
Captain Silver
Good night, Senor Waldman. You'll probably hear a great deal more about what happened tonight.
Senor Waldman
Yes, Captain Silver.
Captain Silver
But go.
Senor Waldman
Senor Crest is waiting for you.
Captain Silver
All right. Goodbye.
Tex
Bye, Senior.
Jerry
Goodbye, Senor Waldman.
Narrator
Waldman stands there for a moment as Captain Silver's taxi rolls away. Then slowly he turns and goes back into the shop, makes his own way to the telephone. In a moment we hear him say.
Captain Silver
Hello, Eric.
Senor Waldman
This is Senor. Say it. Find Pum Pum. Yes, tell him to come to my place at once. That's right. And locate Iko. Go to his hotel and bring him to my place. Tell him he cannot remain there now. The police will be looking for him in a few moments.
Narrator
Waldman, alias Senor Zed, plans to prevent the capture of Boom Boom Erico, the Japanese wrestler, by the police. Will his knowledge of all Captain Silver and the Chilean authorities mean to do frustrate the scheme they have for catching the phantom ship. There's more excitement coming, so you'd better tune in tomorrow for the further and adventures of the Sea Hound. Until tomorrow then, Captain Silver says.
Captain Silver
Oh, sailing.

Length: ~13 mins (non-content sections removed)
This classic radio episode of "The Adventures of the Sea Hound" transports listeners to the dramatic aftermath of a wrestling match in Iquique, Chile, as Captain Silver and his loyal crew find themselves embroiled in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse. The crew tracks the nefarious Boom Boom, a Nazi raider captain, and his accomplices across shadowy alleys, wrestling ring drama, and mysterious phone calls—all while uncovering treachery within their own ranks.
Chase and Tactical Pause: The group chases Boom Boom through alleys, but Tex insists they hold back, suspecting an ambush (01:50–02:32).
Speculation about Boom Boom’s Plans:
Link to Previous Crimes: Captain Silver reveals that Berg, a man recently found dead, was killed via the same secret wrestling hold Eco tried to use. This raises dire suspicions about Eco’s involvement and possible collusion with Boom Boom (04:06–04:29).
Backstory on Silver’s Knowledge: Silver learned the secret hold from his father, who had learned it from a Hindu yogi—key to why Silver recognized and survived Eco’s attack (04:52).
Avoiding Danger and Summoning Help: The group regroups with Senor Waldman and decides to alert the police and Chilean naval authorities, fearing Boom Boom may try to escape by sea (05:55–06:39).
Contacting Allies: Captain Silver uses a nearby telephone to contact Senor Cuesta, requesting both police and naval support, and warning about “Wong the Ferocious,” another suspicious character (08:38–09:47).
Senor Waldman's Secret: After the group departs for Cuesta’s hotel, a twist is revealed—Senor Waldman is in league with the enemy. He quickly telephones his conspirators, warning them about the police and plotting Captain Silver's undoing (11:23–12:05).
Cliffhanger: The episode ends ominously, with the narrator suggesting Waldman’s insider knowledge may thwart Captain Silver’s efforts to trap Boom Boom and his associates.
Tex on Pursuing Boom Boom (01:54):
“Even if he wanted to use that gun, this is just the place to do it.”
Captain Silver on Wrestling Ethics (03:03):
“He probably started to wrestle dirty. That's why Captain won't put up with anything like that.”
Jerry impressed by the danger (04:29):
“Jiminy Crickets. Eco knows it.”
Captain Silver referencing his unusual knowledge (04:52):
“A Hindu yogi taught it to my father, and my father taught it to me.”
Narrator revealing Waldman's duplicity (08:21):
“Senor Waldman hovering solicitously at his side, his hand in glove with Boom Boom.”
The episode combines suspense, pulp action, and wartime intrigue, typical of Golden Age radio serials. Rapid dialogue, dramatic narration, and larger-than-life characters evoke the feeling of a 1940s adventure comic strip. The danger is real, the stakes are high, and trust is precarious.
This installment of "Adventures of the Sea Hound" propels listeners into a web of danger and double-crosses, as Captain Silver tries to outwit criminals while shadowy figures work against him. With a cliffhanger ending, the episode leaves unresolved whether Silver and the authorities can apprehend Boom Boom or if the villains' inside knowledge will let them slip away—an enticing lead-in to the next adventure.
