Hi, I'm Katie Duke, and I've been a nurse for over 20 years. Listen, I used to think that I was my most stylish in my 20s, but honestly, style and confidence only get better with age. And that is why I love figs. These scrubs are beautiful, comfortable, and they are built to last. They're not those boxy, scratchy uniforms that we all started out in. No, no, no. These fit perfectly. They feel amazing, and the quality is just. Wow. My favorite color, Burgundy. It's chic, it's timeless, and it's even the same color as my apartment because I'm kind of obsessed with it. And I love adding custom embroidery to make my scrubs as personal as my style. And since I work in telehealth, my embroidered figs even double as my ID badge. It's never too late to reinvent yourself or your scrubs. Narrator
The blue network presents the adventures of the sea hound with captain silver and jerry.
Tex
You see him, Ku Kai.
Kukai
Oh, thanks. There he is, two points off a stoppage.
Narrator
Now, quick. Remember where our story ended yesterday. Tex and Kukai in the ship's launch, the sprayhound roaring through the night off the coast of Chile, pursuing another small craft bearing Commodore Boom Boom, Master of the Nazi Sea Raider, the Flying Dutchman, and Iko, the Japanese wrestler. Where is Boom Boom making for? Where can the phantom ship be hidden on that harborless coast?
Tex
I see him. I see him now. Cool.
Katie Duke
Kai,
Tex
Which way he heading?
Kukai
Tank?
Tex
Oh, wait till I see. We're bouncing so much that the compass is feeling like a top.
Kukai
George, where he go?
Tex
Seems to be heading southwest.
Kukai
What is the southwest?
Tex
Nothing that I know of. Ain't nothing but open water as far as I can remember.
Kukai
Oh, maybe he meet a phantom ship somewhere at sea.
Tex
Well, if we sight her, we'll put our tail between our legs and run. I don't mind ducking a machine gun, but shells are something else again.
Kukai
Oh, no, no.
Tex
A spray hound. Too small to hit. He might just be lucky, though. Hmm, maybe.
Kukai
Oh, look, a Tex.
Tex
Yeah, he changed course again. Yeah, yeah, I see him. Unlimber that radio. See if Captain Silver's got to the Sea Hound yet.
Kukai
All right, T.
Narrator
But Captain Silver and Jerry have not returned to the Sea Hounds. They are, however, on their way. Our scene now is Ikika harbor, and speeding toward the Sea Hound is a trim Cruiser Captain Silver and Jerry with Alcockney are standing on the bow all
Captain Silver
ready to leap aboard.
Narrator
The moment they come alongside their ship. There's Captain Silver talking.
Captain Silver
Where was Boom Boom's craft when he fired on you, Alfred?
Tex
Right about here, sir. We were going forward to get your launch when suddenlike they turned the light on us and the bullets began to sing past our ears.
Captain Silver
Lucky thing none of you were hit.
Tex
We dropped to the deck like we were three stones, sir. Then the skinny one, Tex. Aye, he run after the mainmast and he turned one of your lights. And we saw Eco aboard. And the bloke what fired the two short sets.
Greenlight Advertiser
You.
Captain Silver
Ah, yes. Boom Boom.
Tex
Nice air.
Captain Silver
Well, this looks like his finish. There are two Chilean gunboats and a Coast Guard cutter somewhere offshore. They're just standing by on our wavelength for word from us. And they'll make for whatever position Tex gives us. I just hope Boom Boom's heading out to sea to make contact with his ship.
Jerry
She must be out at sea, Captain Silver. The Phantom. I mean, you said yourself there aren't many anchorages along this coast.
Captain Silver
Well, we'll see, Jerry. We'll have to wait and see. All right, now, get ready to go aboard. I'll tell the pilot just to pull alongside. Bustamente circle. Barco, senor. All right, Jerry.
Jerry
Yes, sir.
Captain Silver
All right, now.
Tex
You out.
Captain Silver
Russia, senor. Get forward right away. Jerry, enough anchor. Take Al with you.
Jerry
All, sir.
Kukai
Gracious, senor, buenas no.
Captain Silver
All right, get forward now. Jerry, musle up that anchor.
Jerry
All, sir. Come on out.
Tex
All right,
Captain Silver
Jerry.
Jerry
Aye, aye, sir.
Captain Silver
Close that forward hatch too. There's a freeze blowing and she may be rough outside.
Jerry
I I sir. An away, sir.
Captain Silver
Good, good. Come out now, Jerry.
Jerry
Sir.
Captain Silver
Ah, here we go.
Jerry
Al's closing the forward hatch. Captain Silver. He'll be aft in a minute.
Captain Silver
All right. Go down to the radio room and guys our walkie talkie. Terry. We'll try to contact Tex right here on deck.
Greenlight Advertiser
Yes, sir.
Kukai
Oh, Lummy.
Tex
She's a beauty, Captain Silver. Not off, she ain't.
Captain Silver
Ah, thanks, Al.
Tex
Like to see her with a canvas thread and drawing. Bet she's a stunning sight.
Captain Silver
Yes. Yes, she is. What's your job on shipboard alone?
Tex
I'm a greaser, what you call an oiler.
Captain Silver
Oh, yeah? Yes. Tennessee. A long time.
Tex
20 year man and boy.
Captain Silver
Ah, that's a long spell. Used to ship out to the Orient, eh?
Tex
I knows all the Far east port, Captain. Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Batavia.
Captain Silver
Yes, yes, I I've been out there myself.
Kukai
Yeah?
Captain Silver
Oh, yeah.
Tex
I say, you ain't the same Captain Silver. I've heard strange stories apart, are you?
Captain Silver
What story?
Tex
Mixing with the pirates off Borneo and recovering the Righteous Chewing.
Captain Silver
Same man, Al.
Tex
Oh, Blondie. No wonder you could tangle with a bloke like Eco and not come off second best. Who's that?
Captain Silver
The boy, Jerry. I sent him below to get a radio set. You get it, Jerry?
Jerry
Yes, here it is, Captain Silver. I've turned it on.
Captain Silver
Well, keep listening. See if you hear Tax.
Jerry
Yes, sir.
Captain Silver
Feel that breeze. We're going to find some choppy water when we get beyond the point there. I wonder which way Boom Boom went when he lit out.
Jerry
Where could he go, Captain Silver?
Captain Silver
Ah, that's just it, Jerry. I don't know. There's scarcely a place between here and Anapagusta. He could put in with a ship as big as his. Oh, well, we'll find out more when Tex gives us his course.
Tex
That launch is a stunning little craft, too, Captain.
Captain Silver
Hmm? The Sprayhound. Oh, yes. Yes, she is, Al. She's fast, too. Lot of power. He'll keep Boom Boom in sight. That's one thing we needn't worry about. I just hope Tech stays out of the way of that machine gun.

Jerry

Kukai
Hello, Captain Silver. You calling us?
Tex
Hard to hear. Very well.
Kukai
Come in, please.
Jerry
Hello, Kukai. Hello, Kukai. It's Jerry. Hello, Kukai.
Kukai
Hello. No, no word.
Tex
Too much noise out here.
Kukai
Can't hear here.
Captain Silver
Jerry, you take the wheel. I'll go below and switch on the big transmitter. Keep listening now so you can set a cord just as soon you as. As text tells us which way he's headed. Here.

Kukai

Tex

Captain Silver

Tex

Captain Silver
Hello, Tex. Where are you?
Tex
Well, Boom Boom's been dodging all over the place trying to shake us. But near as I can figure, we're about 25 miles southwest and. And heading in a general southwesterly direction.
Captain Silver
No sign of the phantom ship?
Narrator
No, sir.
Tex
We're keeping our eyes peeled. Where are you?
Captain Silver
We're just leaving the harbor. How's the weather out there?
Tex
Oh, it's windy and rough.
Captain Silver
Yes, yes, I thought so. There's a stiff breeze blowing in here.
Tex
Did Tim did ask. Is he all right?
Captain Silver
Oh, yes. Heck, yes. He's here on board the Sea Hound with us right now.
Tex
Ah, fine. How about that there critter that Waldman? Did they get him?
Captain Silver
Senor Cuesta promised to have him under lock and key before we get back to Iquique.
Tex
Good, good. Did he tell you how they fired on us?
Captain Silver
Oh, yes, yes.
Tex
They got a machine gun mounted in the bow, Captain. I don't think it fires astern, but I ain't taking no chances. We're staying about a mile behind him. Bars about for a bush, that.
Captain Silver
What's the matter, Tech? Texas Tex, what's wrong?
Tex
Hold on a minute, Captain.
Narrator
Tex.
Captain Silver
Tex, what's the matter? Tex?

heard Texas conversation with Captain Silver? There's still more excitement coming, so don't forget to tune in Monday for the further adventures of the Sea Hounds. Until Monday, then, captain silver says sailing. The Adventures of the Sea Hound are written by Frank Dom. The director is Cyril Armbrister. The program comes to you from New York. There is one thing that we are learning from living a wartime existence, and that is the importance of eating the right kind of foods. We appreciate the necessity of keeping the home front as strong and as healthy as the fighting front of making food fight for freedom. The shortage of certain foods created by military demands and implementations. Increased civilian purchasing power makes it essential that particular care should be given to the selection and planning of meals. Government nutrition experts have drawn up a chart showing the Basic seven, the seven groups of foods which should be eaten every day if good health is to be maintained. By eating some food from each of these groups daily, we can get all the food values needed for good health. If you're not sure your family is getting these basic seven foods in their family diet, write today to Basic 7, Washington, D.C. and ask for a free copy of the National Wartime Nutrition Guide. The Basic seven is our answer to wartime food shortages. This is the Blue Network.

Podcast: Harold's Old Time Radio
Episode Date: March 2, 2026
Summary by Harold’s Old Time Radio
This episode of Adventures of the Sea Hound continues the suspenseful tale of Captain Silver, Jerry, Tex, and their crew as they pursue the notorious Commodore “Boom Boom,” master of the Nazi sea raider, the Flying Dutchman, along the perilous coast of Chile. As radio communication becomes crucial and danger looms, the crew must outwit their enemy while coordinating with nearby Chilean naval forces. The tension mounts as the whereabouts of the phantom ship remain unknown, leading to a cliffhanger ending.
On the danger of pursuit:
“I don’t mind ducking a machine gun, but shells are something else again.”
– Tex (02:36)
On legendary Captain Silver:
“No wonder you could tangle with a bloke like Eco and not come off second best.”
– Tex (06:43)
A marvel of technology:
“Bloomin’ miracle, ain’t it, to think he can hear you and you can hear him.”
– Tex (09:04)
Sign of trouble:
“Hold on a minute, Captain…”
– Tex (12:38)
The episode is classic old-time radio adventure: brisk dialogue, nautical jargon, and a palpable sense of urgency. The camaraderie among the crew is offset by the looming threat of Boom Boom. The constant interplay of courage, wit, and technical challenges (especially over the radio) keeps listeners on edge and invested in the Sea Hound’s mission.
“After Capt. Boom Boom” is a suspense-driven installment that masterfully blends wartime intrigue, daring chases, and the marvels (and limitations) of 1940s technology. The episode’s cliffhanger ending and dynamic character banter set the stage for more high seas drama in the adventures to come.
Tune in next week for the Sea Hound’s latest exploits!
