That's the second error in the ball game for Raw. Raw got an error in that first inning on a catch coming from the outfit. Catching the ball coming from the outfit. Collins is on first place in the matter of joggers. Here's the pitch, and it's a ball wide. Butter Juggers for ball one. After juggers, we see Dean Butter juggers up with a man in first base. Coleman's getting his fine. Here's the pitch and the foul. Back into the screen and back at the plate. Far strike one. Making the count one and one to Billy Jerkins. Dickey throws another ball into play, getting it from umpire's poles in back of the putt. Throwing it out to Gomez on the mound. Gomez getting his sign out from Dickey. Dekey puts up the glove for the target. Here's the pitch and the ball is shipped very deep in the right field, Paul. Very deep in the right field stands. The ball curving off the end of the batter as Bill Jerkins heads just to point the bit. Too late on that outside. Ball all curved in the right field. Stands to strike two. Making the count one and two. Ball one in, strike two to count. There are two outs. Toss over to first base. A nice easy throw by Gomez. Over to Garrick. Out of the game of catch. But a Jug is waiting for the next pitch. He's standing up there at the plate, swinging a couple of times to get his timing down. Here's the pitch from Gomez. It's the ball on the inside. A curveball breaking into a right hand with it. Ball two, making the count two and two. Ball two and strike. To the count two. I'll use the pitch. The ball is hit on the ground over Gomez. But it goes out of Crossetti. Crossetti comes up with it, steps on second base, and Collins is up fourth at second base by Cross, setting a close the last half to six innings. We're out of the inning. No runs, no hips. One error. An error by Repo from the Yankees. And one man was left on the bases. Links will have six innings to play. In this second game of the 1938 World Series, with the straw standing at 3 to 2 in favor of the Cubs over the Yankees. This broadcast of the World Series game between the Chicago Cubs and the New York Yankees is coming to you from Wrigley Field, Chicago, because for special identification, this is the WB BML Theater, Wrigley Building, Chicago. Now again, ladies and gentlemen, Bat Money. Thank you, Jen Harrington ready to go to work. Zealand, Hartnet, the Battery. The boys are playing out in left field for a full hitter. Who's coming to bat. Joe DiMaggio, Dajo Kerrigan. Dickey. Coming up as the first three men to face Dean in this inning. Cubs 2, Yankees. Cubs 3, Yankees 2. As we start the first half of the second, whenever the ball refits, Dean has his sign from Harford. Starts into a slow, easy line. Left sidearm, curve ball high, ball one. Little high that time for ball one. Kind of a ball that keeps climbing all the time. Here's the next pitch. Outside fairfall, wide for ball two. Jeremy makes his sign down toward the pole pen. Next in the umpire Center. Call 3. Danny makes a sign for them to lay down first at the bullpen. The next sign is to get up. His first man is to stay down the next time. Get up, all three. The next one to strike on the outside corner. Three and one is a call man in front of DiMaggio. Dean winds it up. He's ready to pitch. Here it comes. There goes the ball. Fouled out toward left field. He went too soon for a slow ball. All three of them. Strike two. Larry French and Jack Russell all the way up to the Cubs. Hackneyel sends in to Dizzy Dang two to the header. Dean's out there on the mound. As he's staring, Dean starts his wind up. He's going to pitch it. Here it comes. There goes the ball towards third base and a half to hack, hack over to first base. He's out now. Goes off from hat, over to first place from Collins. That's one. Now Garrett comes to bat with a perfect half bat. He has walked once, singled once, two. Garry comes tonight. One man down. Nobody on the. There's the pitch. There's the ball for a high fly toward right field. Right here. Coming in, playing the weight on the dead rod. He's ready for it and gets it for right field. Next kind of A fan is 60. He had a perfect day at 5 yesterday. Today he stopped out of the shortstop and hit into a double play. He goes up to the mound to get his sign. Has his sign. He's ready to pitch it down. Two down, nobody on. There's the ball fouled up into the net. They're starting to take a cut at everything that Dizzy puts down there. That looks best. It's a seventh inning and the Cubs are ahead 3 to 2. Turned out to be a beautiful, bright sunshiny day along about the fourth inning. Still a few fleecy clouds up in the skies, but mostly it's clear. There goes the ball for a drive out towards center field. Way back deep. Marty's after it. He has it. This last half of the seven innings. We have Dean, Hack and Herman coming up the next race at 5, Getting all ready to go. Ian Hack and Herman coming up to face Gomez was allowed eight hits in three runs. Laying the life pack of the seven in the second inning. The Cubs got their first one in the first inning. Hack singled, Herman stuck up. Hack went over to second and on down to third when Doherty got a hit. And it was an error choice to Ralph on a ball that he missed when it was thrown in from right field. Darty hit a long side of Dimascio Fellows to start a few walls. Max first in the second of him. DiMascio spangled Gary go off and put DiMaggio on second. Dickie popped off the shortstop. Saw Kirk sent a long ball out the center field with two outs. Gordon hit a slow roller off toward third base. Taq and Jurgis both played a dive for it. They hit each other, the ball rolled between them. Gord threw a double, Dimaggio and Garrick scored and Gordon called up on second base. Then Gomez fired out the left. Gomez having his warm up throws. The Cubs got their second set of runs when they came to battle. The first man up in the third and Ehak getting a hit and Herman got a single. It was a sacrifice by Demerty that advanced both men to second and third. Marty, who had driven the run in the first inning, got a double out to right center and drove in those two runs. Then Reynolds walked, Hartnett popped off to center field and column struck up. So the country ahead by a score of three to two as they're playing the last out of the seventh. It Sidney Dean coming to Bass, facing Monte Gomez. Dean comes up and taps the face and gets all set to go. Last half of the seventh greater than the bottom of Fitz. Dean's waiting for it right past his nose in close for ball run fastball. Deane got a hit his last time up. This is what he thought, swinging that bat off the shoulder. Hardy Cabot changed his mind. And took a flash open to the outside corner. It was a screwball, beautifully fixed in a trochleap right hand. Even caught the outside corner for one and one. Disney. Dean's watching. Action's down in the dirt. Picked up and torn back, certainly by Dickey. Ball two. Strike one is a call. Means the first battle fat in the city, which is the last half of the seventh. Here's a pitch. Seems to have seen it for singles. First makes teen having the sweater jacket put on now. Stanley Hack coming to battle the bat on first base. The infield drawn up, watching for the sacrifice. Red Ralph is playing shallow. He's up on the grass inside of the third base circle. A pitcher starts to warm up for the Yankees. In fact, two pitchers start to warm up. First ball fits down is a high ball. Hack let it go by. Oh, Hack let it go by. Came up with it and was all poised to make. We're looking for the sacrifice lotion. Hatley warming up. Next ball. Fifth field is called a strike. Foul one and strike one. And as pitching fastball as Hank gets ready to try to punt. He's trying to sacrifice Dean. Down a second. The Cubs are leading by a score of 3 to 2. Which one? And one of the hitters, Stan Hack at the back trying to punt. The ball went foul, came back and hit the umpire on the foot. Miss. Ball one and strike two. One and two. Hack tried to punt like he did in the Pittsburgh series. Attempting to drive the ball into the ground for a high pounder which would give both fell a chance to be safe. Hanley and Murphy warming up for the Yankees. Watch for the pitch to Hack. Takes the ball called for the strike on the inside corner and he yells him out to the system. But the umpire says it's a strike right in there. Called. And Hack got a slow change of pace while it pooled in that time. It's called out on strike. It's a strikeout. Number four, I believe for Lucy Gomez. Right, John. Thank you. Billy Herman comes to bat. He's had one hit this afternoon. Yesterday he batted 250. And on first is seen Benny Herman at bat. First ball fits. He tries to hit it off turn right field. But it's a fast ball. And he hits his foul up into the upper deck behind the first space. When Herman steps forward in the batsman's box, he's trying to hit behind the runner. Did you needle at that ball in right field by just tapping at it? Seems like they're needed first. Miller tries to hit one on the right field. And he falls another one back into the sand way down on the right field stand. Gomez is working very rapidly. The boys are in there taking their cuts on both ball counts. Steele is working very rapidly, too, watching for the pitch. The Cubs leading three to two. A man on first. Next ball fist is right past Benny Horn's nose. Ball one. Strike two. One man down ahead of it on first base. And if the Cubs can get a rally started here, that can cause a lot of trouble. The imp is Mr. Gomez is pitching himself a flock of baseball. Billy takes another high ball right past his nose. Ball two. Ball two. Strike two. And Dizzy Dean's over on first base. He wants to go, but they're holding in there with the hope that Bill might be able to get a hold of him. They're playing him for a full hitter. Out toward left. Benny Herman's, the boy at bat, hits the ball. Fouled off to the left of the plate. The foul ball, strike two is still a call. Ball two. Strike two. Dickey goes over, retrieves the ball and starts around the air due to thus 4:45 going. Humidity gets it. The pitcher, Billy Herman, steps up into the Batman's box. Taps the barrel of the bat down against the plate. Man on first is Dizzy D with the two and two count of the hitting. There's one man down. Watch for the pitch. He swings too late at the fastball, goes out of swinging. That's strikeout number five for Gomez. He struck out two in the first inning. He struck out one in the third. And now he has struck out two in the seventh and available Zebrady coming to back. He's on a hip fend on a sacrifice and flying out the center. Dizzy Dean is checked off at first base. Palmell's ready to make the throw and he misses him. And Dizzy's making him go all the way to second. Now he's running back and he's finally put now on the throw from Gomez to Gordon. Dean is caught off first. Dean caught off first as he goes up from Gomez to Gordon. The side is returned. No runs, one hit, no errors and no one left on base. That ends the seventh inning. We start playing Gol in the first half of the eight inning when it comes to leading by a score of 3 to 2 in a very tight ball game.

Now Kirk Parkland Gomez, the first sea man to come and face Dizzy Dean. Dean out of the mound except the rals and sack gets ready to take that ball and have a few warm up throws with Jabby Hartzer. Score is 3 to 2 in favor of the cups. We told you how the Cubs made their scores and how the Yankees got there too. You can see how the ball game has gone since those early innings. The Yankees are still a dangerous club and the cup. That's the only which they wound up. The first are in. They got three hits and two rounds in the third and one hit in the second, fourth, fifth and seventh and the first time up that a hip and BO man really bore down. They still had Hatley and Morphy rolling up at the end. They gave sadly that a star circle. Gordon get on. They can relieve bomax if he'd be 1 6. Called on to sell for Dean. Winds it up, hands overhead to carry it to a 300 yard right. He hits one off toward right field. The ball takes a hop out there and it's thrown back into the infield in a hurry and find him out of it. On first place tycook got the hit to put the tying roll on. That was shoot at the Yankees here that is hit number four I've seen and the first hit they've had since the fourth innings and it's a second hit but they've had since the second inning. He started to take six on Dizzy. Now that first pitch we'll see what happens. The man of batting shortage nice corner likes to hit that first pitch. There's a lift guard first. The pitch. Gordon take the ball. It was just away from daddy but he picks it up and holds the letter on first. Ball one too low right down on the dirt. Ball is three to two in favor of the cut. Yankees have off tying that on first. He's a fat man. Take a toe soaker. Gordon's a Bat his boy's driven into up nine runs this year. There's a stretch by Dean, the pitch that goes the ball short, throwing back, gets it 70 seconds off the first 51st and out of second for the fourth. Up the ball a little bit, went to his knees, met up and fields were harder. 100 meter, quick quartering throw over the first pace and the court in his two pass. He's safe on a fielder's choice and he represents the tying run. And sail cactus tells him that's four second race. Comes back over to him. Let's see who backs for Gomace. Somebody coming up the back for Gomez. Gomez is out of the game. Gomez put seven and easy, allowed 11 hits. He walked one, he struck outside and three guns came in and he was pitching. Miss second ball, no man. Holt is getting Momo. Hulk is coming up as a feed spotter for Burma. Coming up as a feed spotter in the eighth inning for Ho. Man, that's the Gomez. An element on first base being ready to fix bottom. A hug being pitches and hugs. Take the person outside. No bar, foul one, no strikes. One down on the tying run on first base. Dan Handing will be warming up for the anchor. There's a stretch by Dean, the look towards first. The ball is fixed into the slot for the outside corner of the knee. Change of pace, a very, very slow ball. Jack Roper is keeping warm for the catch. Dean stretches a look start first. That's Gordon leading over there. The ball is hit. Hard right field for small bounders over to second, waits for the falsehound. Herman left the ball with a back screen on it. A kicker bounce and Hammond got the ball. And over the second race elite Pogo and on first base with a beater's choice. Parker's on first base with a beater'S choice. Anthony Halpert. A rundown second base from Coleman over two jokers. That puts two down. A man on first and base. Fisetti to man. Ft's been hitting the ball awfully hard this afternoon, but he's been flying out the left field. Larry French and Jack Russell keeping long with the dust. Over to first base, the Weller. Safe. Wellers safe in first base. Up home. Another picked off of the first place. He's saved this time. The title eye loss. Allen's tried to put the final in place that time. Happy and Murphy keeping warm for the Yankees. Watch for this pitch down here. Deed has his side in the pitch. Swank. Dean's got the pitch again with a man of it on first base. Holbees plenty fast. It comes to the head by A score of 3 to 2A playing the first half of the eight. There's the stretch by Dean. The lift start first. He pitches high ball for a fit call at that time in case hump went down. But he didn't. Ball one on, spike off. Dean swings toward the rubber. Leans over the goodies spine. Now he toes the rubber. Dean's ready to put this ball in. There's the sweat to the look guard first. He steps back off the bag, off the pitching rubber. The looks card first. Hopeless making a fancy motion if he might go. Dean has his side now. A high stretch by Dean. The client's turn first. A quick throw to first place. The swords on the wrong side of the bag and the player comes in and he's safe off to the right of the bag instead of the inside left corner. Ball one, spike one. He calls the reds and back to the next two. Dean gets his sign to pick the next one. Down one or two to the hitter. Dean's up on the mound having the ball up. Now he's ready to toe the rubber. Dean swings with his chair from the rubber. There's a strap to look toward. First runner makes a jumping motion. There's the ball followed up into the upper part of the net. Ball one. Strike two. Two down three to two in favor of the Cubs and playing the first half of the end. So Dean receives the new ball from Hartnett. Dean's ready to swing into position and on first base is hogged. Dean has his sign. There's the stretch. They look toward first. 1 and 2 and the hitter boss holds down and kicked towards third base. He went for a snowball that time, went down towards third base and just missed the double team in the far handle. That'd be hard to yell something to Dean. The ball be fixed in Dean. Has he signed? Keep letting his arms flop along up his side. All one. Strike two then round. First is home. Dean has the sign. There's the scratch. The look towards first. There's the pitch. Of course there's black. The ball line all too sweiku. Have you tried to call a stripe in his wine? Umpire was right on top of the play. Umpire falls a good man. Not all good umpires that they wouldn't be in the World Series. In fact they're good umpires. And they wouldn't be umpiring in the American or National League with the top men in their bases or they wouldn't be up here. Ball two. Slight two. Two dollar men on first Team stretches, you don't start first. Here's the pitch. There's the ball fouled down the third baseline. Get in the dugout again. All tubes. Fact two. They're taking a cut at everything that Dean serves up there. Trying to get that tying right along. Bulk gets the pass dropped. Boy on his feet. Wait for that next body. Fixed that, Par. Dust's off at home plate. The sun has gone back of the cloud somewhere. We can't see the cloud. It's somewhere off to the west. We're facing directly toward the east. Right down the first baseline. There's the stretch by Dean. Here's the pitch that par said it's wide and low. Ball three spikes even a letter to the start with the fence. Now. Rosie can start to top it up. Fans are yelling for Dizzy to hold him. Runner on first ready to go with the pitch. Dizzy stretches, steps off the line as he finds out that the hitter has stepped out of the boxing spots. Five three swag. Two, two, nine on the rundown. First can go with the pitch. Dean is pitching the soccer. Dean stretches. Dean's ready to run it. Well. Here it comes. There goes the ball off the left field. It's there. Setting pitches us out to Crassetti. I was taking a tour of the self work. We've got the hit to start this eighth innings for it and second Crossetti as a matter of fact. All three. Strike two. Two man down. And hold one. First base. Dean rid of the pistols. Bore it out of crusade. Dean swings out of the mound. Comes the rubber one on first. Can go with the pitch. And a three and two with two down. There he goes. Here's the pitch. That goes the ball for a hole. And the scorers had changed with battle. It's the gauges. Four at the top three. Two runs coming in after hitbox of the five. After pitching a field. A lot of hit boys but aiming for that all afternoon. A trying hard to pull that ball. And he's been holding back. And three times Falsetti has tried out to Reynolds. Once he held back and hit it in the corner. Reynolds got it there. The next two times he drove him clear back to the wall. A well hit ball from a home ladder and the Yankees were gone out ahead by a smaller 43. Next ball fixed. Feet was 50 to roar. Ralph cut that ball first straight from the ball. And the next heat was spinning. Make sure the next ball be fixed. Next one plunked in close for by the ball. Ball two. Strike one. Two nine and two rankings the Yankees and ahead four to three. Yankees are all jumping up and down over there on the bench and they're patting for Sonny on the head and hitting him on the back. Well, Sonny finally got the first home run on the World Series. It was a ball for a high foul. So at first no sense going for them way back in there. Gentleman caught the ball with the Anthony's cap that time. Ball two, spike two, corner three and eight of the orbits for the eight minutes hit the pitch. Umpire says you're out. Spike three, walk into a lift out of slide nine and he's tall out of strikes. The office followed the outf ball overturned. Count target against the new ball. The coach on third base can represent something in the F4 feels more sensitive. There were two ones, two hits, no arrows. And they want accumulation today. That is Jersey is about five hits and four runs. And in the point of nothing I mentioned 70 without having three runs. Now we have a new pitcher coming in and I think it's Murphy. Murphy who has been depended upon to be the great man for the Yankees and the pincers. And the pitcher is the man who's coming in a pitch. I believe Murphy will probably him in the pitch. First time coming to bottom is Emery. Emery, Marty. And runners the first three cuddies to face ones in the eight innings. The Cubs need one run to try and two to go out and get ahead. Cubs up one run in the first. They got two runs in the third. The Jackson got two runs in the second and they've got two runs in the eighth. And a home run outside Kelly with a lot of Murphy coming in a pitch. Murphy coming into pitch in the eight minutes. Murphy's a great big right hander. Nice. Intervening by a score of 4 to 3. The Cubs about hit them 2 to 1. But they have been able to get those runs in the pitch. A very very well hit ball by Clausetti who's been aiming at that left field beach all afternoon. And this is the one who's sitting hitting a high five. And he hit the line drive. He really got a hold of that pitch by Dean and scratched himself a line drive. That really went for a home left. It's the last half of the eight. Murphy's having his run of throws with Dickey. Man who's talking about his Gamma Ray lays out a sacrifice and he's flat out to the margin. Scott starting to save play ball. But Murphy still keeps throwing the ball down to Dickey. Dickey finally gets ready to throw a factor in. The umpire ducks off the home plate. The throw Straight to second. Murphy comes down to talk to Dickey about the sign. First time coming about is Frankie Del Marie. All right. The Yankees asserted their power. And the Vanderbark got the only home run of the World Series so far. And that made the Yankees 4 and the Cubs 3. The Cubs have got to get a run to tie and two to go to hit. It's a seesaw battle. The Cubs were ahead in the first inning. The Yankees were ahead of the second. The Cubs turned around and got ahead again on the third. The Yankees went ahead of the eighth. And Frankie never. He just took the ball. It just missed his nose too close as he ready to put the Dominique. Frank's watching for it. There goes the ball for a high fly over towards third base. It's a five off into the sand. And he's had walking for a steady bolt going forth, but not a chance if he gets to it. A long time for a northeast wind to carry back into the sand. Four to three in favor of the ashes last time of the eighth and up a pass. His fractionality ready for the ball to be pitched. But he was watching for it. He's had one hit this afternoon that was off a goal knife. You drifted the breast of the ball. One ball for a strike. Two ball one. Strike. Two. Ball. Let him strike him together. All cut for the ball. He kicks in, strike. Is watching for it. Playing strike for a full hitter. Drawback that means center field and light field wide open. But it's too long. Ball was down below the knees. Mitch just started to throw the ball short face to the unclass income starting son. That was a ball. Ball two. Strike two. Kennedy waiting for another one. Bat on the shoulder, slung at it. First strike went for the curveball. That time the last three men to come up had gone down swinging. That's strikeout number one for Murphy. The first time he faced, he struck that. He played that squat left. And here comes Marty the bat. He's driven in all three of the Cub's runs. Joe Marty coming to bat. One man down, nobody on running the pitch to Joe High Ball 1. Ball Too High and wide. It's an outside center of an overhand curve. It's ball to three in favor of the Yankees. Ready for the ball to pitch. And he's watching for it over half inch. This is been a big relief hand for the edges for the past couple years. See how the left he goes? Barney's watching for it. That goes the ball from a high fly toward right field way out there. But it's Back into the sand. Grasshooter started for it, made a nice run, but the ball was called by at least 60ft after his glasses down and went for it. Let's hug that ball though. And you keep going for it. You never can tell what the wind will do. Ball two. Start one. Marty at fat, watching for another one. Let's see how it comes in. Marty takes one close to his back for ball three. That's three and one and the next two must be good. The next two have to be in there for Marty. It's four to three in favor of the Yankees on a home run in the eighth inning with a man aboard and home run hit back for 30. Marty took a stop in the outside corner, makes a 3 and 2. He puts the burden of truth on the venture. Jojo's watching for notching. Nardi's up there. Watch for the pitch. Three and two, one down it goes. There you have it. He hit the arrow for Nardi. A double and two. Shoulders. Run is over on first base. Nine runners on. The Cubs must bring it in here. First battle is a short third. Strike one on. Strike. It is the ball. Runners one man on and out on first base. And strike one of the hitter. The next pitch will change something. Four to three in favor of the Yankees. The last holiday comes at that. There goes the ball to the five down. Strike. Second base having a short stop. Short stop. Master breaking another play on the ball. Manage it through. Another play from Gordon, second base from city at short security cover at first and decided to retard with no runs, one hip, no autos and no one left on base. All right. This morning the Ice, the broadcast of the World Series dance between the Chicago cup and the New York Yankees is coming to you from weekly field Chicago. Calls for states with notifications. into the first half of the ninth hitting the score reading 4 to 3 in favor of the New York Yankees over the Chicago Cups and the first man to come up is going to be Tommy Hendricks. The right fielder Tommy Hendricks is ready to step in the Maddox box however Gabby Harkuth who are scheduled to come up tonight after Carl Reynolds had to go over the dugout and put on all that clutching paraphernalia so he's finally come out there now and he's standing just in the back of the plate. Now down the mountains finishes long watching the first man who's stepping the batters box is Tommy Hendricks the right fielder as the wind up by Debian. Here's the pitch and Henrich hits a mine drive smash out the right field for a single taken out there by Dev Leach one into second place to Billy Herman and he fell first Henriett singles the right field Henry Chand first base that brings DiMaggio up in the book Joe DiMaggio coming up. DiMaggio sets him about his backs Thus far today he's had one hit, a base hit to left field a single and on that single he was one of the two runners to score for the New York Yankees in the second inning. All he does is scratch the look toward first base and here's the pitch finder they Dean the ball is hit for a long Runway out deep in the left field it's going, going, going, going over the fence and over the wall for a home run. Over the left field One of the first question Jesse Dean. Jesse's out there now talking with all of his end failures and they're sending Jack Russell I believe into the ball game Jack Russell is going to come in to believe Jesse Dean. Dean is being taken out of the ball game now it's going to be Larry French. French is the pitcher coming in French at least is leaving the dugout and coming in to pitch as far as we know Andy is calling on Larry French to relieve Busy Dean Here with the score 6 2, 3 in favor of the New York Yankees score of 6 to 3 in favor of the Yankees on a single and a home run here in this first half of the 9th inning single was by Hendrich at the right field of module hitting a left field home run right off the left field wall out toward that yellow brick building just beyond the left Field flag pole in the wall. Went all the way over the wall on the fly and down the yard in front of that building over there, which at the present time are approached several spectators on top of the building and also in the windows. I think you're seven and all off team in the ball game. And six runs off. Deep straw being six to three. Wrench has now gone into fifth. She's in there warming up. Probably a few warm up pitches into Gabby Hartnett. He should be plenty warmed up. He's been warming up off and on since that first inning. And down there in the bullpen with Jack Russell as a relief roller. And the two of them have been warning up for a long time. And now the first man to come up is going to be Garrick facing Larry French. Two rounds across, nobody on the vice with nobody out. The first half of the ninth inning in the score six to three in favor of the New York Yankees over the Cubs. Garrigan about his punk. Larry Branch is ready to go the lineup. And here's the pitch on a slow curve. A little bit wide for ball one. Ball one to Lou Gehrig. Yankees won yesterday's game three, two, one. They're winning this one six to three today in the first half of the night. There's the lineup, here's the pitch. And a slow curve again. Breaks over the outside corner. This time waist high for a fellow strike. Making the count one in one. Follow one and strike one to Lou Gary, the first baseman of the New York Yankees. Gary up, nobody on the bases. Nobody up. First half of the night with two runs across. Here's the pitch. A Hall inside and high, very fast. One ball. Doing strike on the count. Already does the wind up by Larry Points. The pitch. A swing and a miss by Garrick to strike two. Making it go through and through. We begin that slow curve. Ball going away. Go left hand hitter. And he swung and missed it for Spike. Two making a cut. Two and two to Lou Gehri. Ball to inspect to the cut. Scratch getting a sign from Gabby, starts his line up. Here's the pitch, another slow curve. This time it's too low for ball three. Making the count three and two. Ball three and Spike. Two to Gary. Nobody out in the first half of the ninth and two runs across. Here's the pitch and the swinging it up. He strikes him up. Gary goes down. Swing. Larry Crank strikes him up. The first strikeout for French. Yankees putting this game at least assuming a little bit on ice here in the first half of the night with two extra runs. They were already leading four to three. Now they're leading six to three. There's a lineup by Dean. Here's the pitch, it comes by Dean. Here's the pitch, it comes up by Dean. Here's the pitch, it comes in through Bill Dickey on the inside around his knees for a goal bowl. One ball on the cut says he getting a sign. There's the line up here, rather French getting a sign. He puts the ball in and it's a foul. Back into the screen and back of the place for strike one. Making the count one and one to go. Vicky all wide and swipe on the count. The score 6 to 3 in favor of the Yankees over the Cubs. Well, they're standing up there getting a sign. Here's the pitch. And it's a ball low on the outside for ball two. Making the count two and one. Steps off the pitching rubber for a moment. Goes back toward the Boston back, but does not use it. Drops the ball up, stands up there throwing the rubber. Now getting his side from Gabby back in the plate. Harry's all said there's a lineup on the pitch. The ball is hit down, the rip of Collins. Collins steals the ball, beats him over the bag. And Dickey is out to Collins unassisted for the second out of the inning. That's two away. And it brings Celtric up to the date pickle toes. George Celtrick, the left fielder is coming up ups in the batters backs with a score 6 to 3 in favor of the Yankee ball. Feathers the cut from the second game of the 1938 World Series. Abby crouching down and back and forth, giving the sign to Laurie French. Now he gets his sign, starts his wind up. And here's the pitch of Fasten on the inside. Almost hits him in the shoulder. He ducks away from it and goes for ball one. Ball on the gut. Call truck the batter. Two out, nobody on. And two runs across in the first half of the line. Three south. Kirk steps out of the batter's box. Now he's backing again, taps his foul on the plate. Ari French walks up on the pitching rubber. He's making a little bit more time between pitches underneath his predecessor. Here's the pitch and it's a four low on the inside for ball two. Ball two to count. There are two outs already. There's the lineup and here's the next one. Hawkhurst gets a strike, a fastball over the inside corner of the fight, waist high. But strike one making the count few. End of 1, 2 and 1. The cut all Right. There's a lineup by Larry French to pitch a ball on the inside. The ball three. Making the count three and one. All three of them. Strike. On the count, there are two outs. Salt Perk is the batter. There are two runs across. Franch getting his sign. I just crossed on the back of the plate. Already. There's a lineup. Here's the pitch. A fast one on the inside, almost taking the head. It goes for ball four. And they go down to first base on a walk. Harry Francis now struck out one man and walked one man. Paul Buck seemed to pull a little muscle on his side. He's holding his side a little bit as he walks down to first base. And he tried to get out of the way of that fast wall which was coming in his head as it came in. There was not an intention of being. Well, it was just one of his wild throws. All four. He's down in first place after walking down there very slowly. Still stretching, trying to get that kick out of his left side. I believe they're calling for the trainer to come out and possibly a man to run for him. Doc Eric stretching and flexing his muscle. First back. The first. Best Christian. He's all right now. That's one man on two up, two runs across. South Kirk was hit by a pitch. Ball. He wasn't. Ball four. Scorn as a hit by a fixed ball and effectually use the pitch. It comes into Gordon and he swings and misses for the strike. Strike one. The boy didn't look up here as if he'd been hit by a fist ball. The official Sparrow has thus scored it. Anyway, here's the pitch now again. And it's a strike on the outside corner to Gordon for strike two. Last ball pitched in their way. Tack back to the gun to Gordon. The man on first base. Two down and two runs across that man in the car. Pitch. Ball. There was a sweatshirt up to a first base. Larry French. Here's the next pitch to go out and go out and spin through. Strikes out for Larry French in the inning. French pitching one inning, striking out two men. Getting one man with the first ball and putting him on first base. The result of the first half of the ninth inning. Two runs, two hits. There were no errors and one man was left out on the bases. And I told you that as far as the Yankees are concerned, as well as 5o, 6 rings, 7 hits, 2. Two errors and two men up on the bases. We're going into the last half of the ninth innings. The squash landing at six to three in favor of the New York Yankees and it's the club's last chance, the National League after his last chance in this second game of the World Series to come up now officially. Now officially he was what Salford was what as we originally gave you, he wrenched his back in twisting away from an inside class ball as I told you and left the wife. I know when it was coming in right at his head. So it's now officially given us a walk and not hit by a fixed ball. So we're going into the last half of the eighth inning and Anthony and the batter coming up those galley pots at 3:33 hitter in yesterday's game. The fellow who's been up twice in this game today or three times in this game today and try out each time he put the ball hard and back to the beauties close to the Marshall. That's way out there almost to the center field ball. All I bet is right to step on the bottom flex. Jake Powell is playing out in left field in place of Selkirk Powell and left field Salford has been taken out of the game and Powell had been started in left field. Got him in your lineup in place of self. Er. Gabby Harmon up there on the pike. Ball has been thrown around the infield. Murphy has warmed up. He's now ready to pitch the Gabby Ayrun's needed to tie up all the Cubs and for a win 6 return back to the Yankees. Gabby swings the bat a couple of times. Murphy's ready. There's the line. Open the pitch. A strike at the inside corner Waist high strike on the gut to Gabby Hardnet. The last half of the line. Setting of the second game of the World Series. There's the wind up and here's the next one. Hardness swings and misses for sweat. Two back to the count to Gabby. Kathy getting a sign. Spark is wind up very slowly. Here's the next pitch to G. Behind that Gabby. That's a ball wide ball one. Making the count one and two all one. Inspect to the gun.

At Gold. He gets his sign, lines up. Here's the piston ball to sit on the right field. It's a fly ball and easy out to Tony Henderson. Whitefield for the first half in the last half of the line finish twice. Gabby Harman has thrown out a five fly ball to white field and twice to set a piece Andrews. Andrews and Happy are both warming up down there in the oil sands of the New York Angers in case they're needed. Johnny Murphy on everybody's doing a pretty good job for the anglers out there on the mount. He gets his sign and threatening to pitch now to Collins. And Collins sitting left handed against him sends a ground her down on the ground. The second placeman, Gordon. Gordon over to Gehrig. Gordon fumbled momentarily but recovered in time to pick up the ball and get it over to first place by the second half. That's two away in the last half of the line. Finning is the final getting up at all. Solichert Paul jagged stepping in the batter's box. Jaggie steps in there, claps, he's got on the plate, looks out of Murphy. Got the bill of Jaggers to keep the Cubs in the ball game by getting a nice hit here if they expect to stay in the second game. However, the Yankees put in the game on ice in the first half of the last minute and they lead six to three. Here's the pitch and Jaggers got the fast one a little bit low on the outside for ball away. Ball on the gut juggers takes the bat a couple of times to getting it signed. Then he reaches over and pitches the ball in. It's a high foul and back and to tighten him off to the right going into the right field section of the stands. Way back in the boxes. All went in track on the count, one of on the count. Maggie's leading six to three. The second game of the 1948 World Series. Here's the pitch. A ball high and on the outside for ball two. Maggots got two and one the bell turkeys ball two and strike one. The cup guys hands up there, swings his fat once or twice. John D' Amorphy is ready. Here's the line up in the fifth and it's a ball inside of five of all three making the count three and one all three and strike on the count out of the 44,000. Some odd fans are ready to leave the ballpark and starting up. But as we've said so many times before, the ball game is over to that last man is out. Three and one the count. Here's the pitch and it's five for eight. Ball four and Cherries is down to first place on the left. Jergis didn't think he had all boys aggravated. Marlon Garden decided to get ready for the next pitch but it was 12:4 and Turkey goes to first base and some of the fans had the hollow swim and it was time to get on first base. That's there. Somebody had a few stands and set up his touchdown from first. And there he is. Heather Herman is coming into Sally. Umpire closing back at the Bay of a Finch Potter who is coming up here in the last half of the ramp inning. Paulie Fisher, Barry French heavy Phil Cavaretta. Cavaretta coming up. I believe out at 500. Yes, thank you. Now by the way, something about as long as down on first place. Two down the last half of the line finish wherever he is running. How does he sletch? Here's the first takes out a count right into the ball. Hand on the outside for ball one up down there for the Andy, Ben Hadley and Harvey Andrews. Here's a pitch, a swipe from the inside corner of fast goal. I'll be firing it right down the groove over the inside corner for a second. Ball one and check on the top. One and one down on first place in Bill Davies and Phil Gabble out of the body. Here's a pitch. He starts to swing the first time he gets the ball hole in the offshore catch of ball two making the count two and one. Ball two and strike one. The last half of the ninth inning is two down and a man on first. Here's a pitch, the ball is hit on the ground. It's down and out to off the Gordon Gordon 12 for a base hit. I believe it'll be a single out the right field. Gordon went over covering a lot of territory and it goes at the hit it back and he tries to the hip. Lay at the right field and give a thousand to cut fans out here before two runners around the base. Red is down on second. Basic Caval is down on fifth. Batter coming up in there with standing hand who's got two hits. The Four Ships batting.500 for the day today after batting.750 in yesterday's mission that's covered in the batter's bucks left his time from world again. And here's the first pitch to happen at the ball low on the inside. The ball went ball on the gut. Standing half, two running combinations. The score of 6 to 3. As a striker looks toward second base by Johnny Murphy. Here's the pitch. Danny hacked up the striker came in at the knees and over the heart of the plate of fastball. They're going to go down 20 nil. Ball one. End strike on the Spiderman clock with two runners on the base. Shrug is left. Cavalier single to left half to two. We're down in the last half a night. Here's the pitch. The ball is hit for a punch down to Falsetti. He takes a line drive right at the ground and he is out. Max gets a line drive pass with Sausage. A shortcut and he is out for the third out and the ball game is over. The Yankees win the second game of the 1938 World Series. Pass for 6, 3. The last half of the night that he showed no runs, 10 hits, no errors and there was two men left on the race. That is for the time of the game was 1 hour and 53 minutes. The totals in the game, 6 wins, 7 hits, 2 hours. Washington 3 runs, 11 hits, no errors. There were two men left on the bases for the New York Yankees and there were seven men left on the basic line of cup. That's the total on the game, especially as they come to us on our speaking. John heard them speaking to you. And now here again with Pat. How do you do, ladies and gentlemen, all ready to go on tell you what happened to the ball game and speak about some of the ball players who seem to be the heroes. Teddy of course getting his home run which put them ahead and actually drove in what was the winning run, 42,108 people actually the front of the volume 203,000. $205,437. The official receipt, 15% for the commissioner. That is at 30,800 $813. 1335. That's what was managed for the commission. Well, as long as these things are coming over the last speaker, I might just as well go ahead and talk. Of course, today we must say again that the hero of the series this afternoon was again his boy Fawcetti, who played a beautiful game. He started two double plays that held the Yankees on a bad spot and fell Gomez out of that spot. And then we have Fawcetti, who hit a home run and actually drove in the Lenny run himself. He'd been aiming at that left field wall all afternoon. He Had a hard, well hit ball up into the stands after the 306 deep cut mark. The other man who showed the Yankee power for the first time this afternoon was DiMarzio. He got low hooked yesterday. He got a single in the second and then he came in and scored. And that day on which Gordon hit a slow ball and Jegerson had both charged and rolled between them and they hit each other and knocked each other down. That's how they got two of their runs. And at first DiMaggio got a home run of the man of old. On the ninth inning, Dizzy Dean went out there with an arm that hurt him like a toothache. And you've got to give him credit for being a great soldier going up against the power attack of the young. It took them eight minutes to finally really get to him. It happened in the eighth of a night and they really got him down the yard. He's won by a score of 6 to 3 in a ball game that was hard fought and well played all the way through. Sparkling infield play, some sparkling outfield goes. As funny as I told you. He tried very hard to get that ball out of that field. And three times Reynolds robbed him of hits by catches out of molestio corner. But that one run that he got and one terrific run up over the fence made him of course, the hero for the Yank. Oh, we mustn't forget that Crassetti played a bang up ball game himself. And on that last ball it was played and was hit down there just a moment ago. And Stan Hack FTTI came in fast as if to play an ordinary ground ball. But he got the ball in his glove just about three inches above the ground. And it was in the bedroom. He hung onto that ball, stumbled and hung on and would not let go. He did a fine piece of work one afternoon. Of course, if the Cubs had won, there would have been someone be sure to write or talk about Ralph being the goat on account of two errors. But the Cubs did not win, so that's all forgotten. And most of the play now will go to DiMaggio and Fosetti. Particularly Fawcetti, who drove in those wedding rocks being pitched to great game and you can see that when you stop and figure. But during the time here again or eight innings and two men, six, two in the ninth, he still had only allowed seven hits, but two of those were one one each of them out of all. He allowed two hits in the second, he allowed one hit in the fourth, and then he allowed two in the eighth. And finally they got two or a hit in the ninth, a couple of hits to save you on the home run. The Dean tried very hard. Lexi Gomez now has a record having won this ball game. The only man who ever won six straight loss on his days. There were two other men who had won six World Series games. But in among those six we find that there were two of them that went, or one of them at least had went for less. Two men won World Series games and of course the pitchers were thunder and hurt. They each have six to the record, but each one was charged with at least one defeat. Whereas Gomez has just exactly six straight wins and no loss. Great ball game all the way through. The Yankees and the Cubs are going to play their next game at the Yankee Stadium down in New York. That of course is the stadium that most people speak of as the tricks stadium in which the Yankees can take shots at certain parts of the field for those home runs. But there's nothing tricky about the home runs we got this afternoon. They were both well hit balls when they go down there. As far as Yankee Stadium being built as a trick stadium for home runs, the Cubs have exactly the same chance to hit the ball in those same spots. They haven't been aiming at them so long, but they still have that same chance. So when anybody tells you a ball field is built for a certain team, remember that the other team that goes into the play has exactly the same advantage and the same disadvantages that the home field. They may not be quite so accustomed to certain little things, but at the same time it doesn't make an awful lot of difference. Particularly when it's a series like this where you've got to win four out of seven. The series isn't over by a long shot. The two of the birds have golfed over the Cubs and two of the boys have gone down. This is a well played, a hard hitting game this afternoon with the kind of thrills you like to see in a World Series. We've had a great time broadcasting for you this afternoon. Johnny Harrington and myself. We just want to tell you now that this broadcast.
