This country was built on a distinctly American work ethic. But today, work is in trouble. We've outsourced most of our manufacturing to other countries. And with that, we sent away good jobs and diminished our capability to make things. American Giant is a clothing company that's pushing back against this tide. They make a variety of high quality clothing and activewear like sweatshirts, jeans, dresses, jackets, and so much more. If you did, follow Spencer Dean as he unravels the second half of this mystery thriller by Stuart Sterling to see if you were right. Even if you didn't hear last night's episode, you can still obtain all the essential clues to the mystery by listening to tonight's exciting, exciting drama. We pick up the trail this evening at the famous Martin Sporting Club at Lake Placid. A blustering wind rages at the windows of the suite shared by the Manhunter and his partner, Dan Cassidy. Wow, listen to that wind. It's gonna be a tough night outside, Prince.
Spencer Dean
It sounds like it, Danny. You'll be even tougher inside.
Eunice Renfrew
See?
Danny Cassidy
Have you got a lead to this killer?
Spencer Dean
More than a lead, Danny. How was the patient when you left her?
Danny Cassidy
Eunice? Oh, she's all right. Those two bullets just picked her in the shoulders. Quick bunny, but nothing serious. She's sleeping. The doctor gave her a bromade.
Spencer Dean
You tell the nurse to be on the gun.
Danny Cassidy
Don't worry about that nurse. Say she's so scared that she'd go right through the window if anyone hollered boo.
Spencer Dean
Then she'd heard that the Eunice was shot by someone outside the window.
Danny Cassidy
Yeah, Eunice told her all about it. So naturally, the nurse is afraid someone will wing her by mistake. Far as I'M concerned everything connected with this case is a mistake.
Spencer Dean
Deadly mistakes.
Danny Cassidy
Yes, even the shooting of Eunice after Cartwright was killed. That was as cuckoo as the rest of it.
Spencer Dean
Not for sure about Danny. When the Eunice was shot, the case started to clear up a bit.
Danny Cassidy
I don't get it, Spence. These two couples come up to Lake placid to celebrate Ms. Eunice Renfrew's coming marriage to Bruce Tarkin. And two days before the wedding, he's bumped off.
Spencer Dean
Curiously inappropriate.
Danny Cassidy
Time, time and place. Both curious. Did you ever hear of anyone being murdered while he was driving a bobsled 70 miles an hour?
Spencer Dean
No, Donny. It was extreme extraordinary. Don't forget, there's an extraordinarily keen mind behind all these shootings.
Danny Cassidy
Yeah, but there were no footprints on either side of the bobsled chute. And the autopsy showed that Cartwright had only been dead a few minutes. He was alive at the time. That bobsled was a hundred yards above us.
Spencer Dean
Now, that proves that one of the.
Danny Cassidy
Three on the bobsled was the murderer.
Spencer Dean
Yes, there's no doubt of that.
Danny Cassidy
Hello. Of the three, Ms. Eunice, her sister Harriet and this guy Moyce. I think it's pretty obvious. Guesswork or head work, Denny.
Spencer Dean
Which is it now?
Danny Cassidy
Well, I don't see much chance for head work here. No, no. Harriet skipped out. Would she do that unless she was guilty?
Spencer Dean
What about a motive, Denny?
Danny Cassidy
Whoa. Maybe jealousy, Maybe money. Perhaps she didn't want anyone to influence her sister Eunice's share of the Renfrew estate.
Spencer Dean
That's pretty far fetched. Funny. Furthermore, if Harriet had any reason to kill Cartwright, why would she want to shoot her own sister?
Danny Cassidy
Well. Oh, I can't figure that out. Well, if it wasn't Harriet, it's a sense. It couldn't be Eunice. Whoever killed Cartwright shot Eunice afterward. Those.32 caliber bullets prove that.
Spencer Dean
You know, I've an idea that when a ballistic expert goes to work on those bullets, he'll discover something even more important than that.
Danny Cassidy
Oh, you mean about that gun? That's all clear enough. Moyes had an automatic. He kept it in his suitcase. He said it was there.
Spencer Dean
Yes, all very simple. When Sheriff Hook searched his room, the gun was missing. It hasn't been located since. There's no proof the bullets came from that gun.
Danny Cassidy
Merely a supposition.
Spencer Dean
Oh, yes, Daniel. Clear enough.
Danny Cassidy
Well, maybe Harriet pinched a gun from Moyce's suitcase.
Spencer Dean
Maybe.
Danny Cassidy
Maybe he even loaned it to her.
Spencer Dean
Maybe. Or maybe too many maybes, all pointing to Moyes.
Danny Cassidy
Well, he sure had A motive. He used to play around with Eunice. And then she gave him the air and became engaged to Cartwright.
Spencer Dean
Well, that's conceivable. He might have been sorry about that.
Danny Cassidy
And they quarreled, too. He told us about that. But there's something that cuts Moish right out of the picture as the killer.
Spencer Dean
What's that?
Danny Cassidy
Oh, their positions on that bobsled. Yes.
Spencer Dean
Let's see. The murdered man steering, Ben Yunus, his fiance, Ben, Harriet, her sister and Lars. Jean Morris is pregnant.
Danny Cassidy
Right. Now, will you tell me how Moyes could have reached around and shot that guy Cartwright with those two girls in between? One of the girls had certainly seen him do it. Yes, I've heard the shot.
Spencer Dean
Possibly.
Danny Cassidy
Oh, well, that's easy. He used a silencer on his automatic.
Spencer Dean
Yes, and there's something peculiar about that.
Danny Cassidy
Don't say there is no how to cast you out. Well, simply this, Spence. If Moyce shot Cartwright, then someone else plugged Eunice. It must have, because one of the sheriff's boys was with Moyes at the telephone when Eunice was shot. As I thought of that. And also, Eunice says she saw the person that shot her. She admits it was a woman, but naturally she doesn't want to incriminate her sister. So she says she couldn't identify her.
Spencer Dean
Yet she saw the gun clearly.
Danny Cassidy
Sure. And she says it was an automatic with a silencer. Yes.
Spencer Dean
That's the odd part of it.
Danny Cassidy
Down on the floor. Don't that somebody took a shot at us. Wait, I'll put the light on. That's better.
Spencer Dean
Yeah, somebody was trying to put our lights out. All right, come on.
Danny Cassidy
I'm right with you, boy. You better have your gun ready. What was that break you heard?
Spencer Dean
Someone tried to put Cassidy and me.
Danny Cassidy
Out of the picture. Deputy Dick, there's somebody over there by the groove. That's right. There's somebody moving in the shadows of those trees. Come on, Spence, let's go get him.
Spencer Dean
Dead air, but out in the open. Bright moonlight.
Danny Cassidy
What of it?
Spencer Dean
Whoever tried to put us out of the way will be in the shadows.
Danny Cassidy
That's right. He might try to putt us. Hey, we can't let him get away with that.
Spencer Dean
I don't think the killer will get away so easily.
Danny Cassidy
Look. Look. There he goes over there. He's got around the corner of that shed. I'll go around this side and you take the other.
Spencer Dean
Careful now. Don't expose yourself.
Danny Cassidy
Danny, you better give up. We've got your corner.
Spencer Dean
You can't get away.
Sheriff
Talk to a gun.
Danny Cassidy
Can Your feet set? He didn't stick close to the shed at all. Look, there he is. After him, Danny. I'll try to wing him. You missed him.
Spencer Dean
He's in this growth somewhere.
Danny Cassidy
Well, let's go and act him.
Spencer Dean
Don't shoot again unless you have to.
Danny Cassidy
Well, I'm not going to let him get away again. Hey there, you. Stop. Stop. We can see you now.
Sheriff
Better drop it.
Danny Cassidy
See me?
Sheriff
I should hope to thunder you good.
Danny Cassidy
Is that you shooting at me, Sheriff? What are you doing in that drone? What was I doing? Ducking bullets and trying to locate you? Yeah, well, somebody took a shot at us back there in the clubhouse. We taped him out here. Someone took a shot at you? I didn't hear anything. Except the shooting a minute ago when you missed me. The killer used a silence, but the same one that killed Cartwright. I tell it. Sure. Say, you know, it's a good thing you spoke up just then. I might have plugged you. You nearly did, Mr. Cassidy. Well, there's no chance of finding anyone in here.
Spencer Dean
Yes, I think you're right.
Danny Cassidy
Great. I almost forgot why I was looking for you. All this shooting going on.
Spencer Dean
What's on your mind, Sherrit? Did you find Harriet?
Danny Cassidy
No, we date found Harriet. But we did find this. A letter? It's more than a letter. It's. Well, here, you. You better read it, Mr. Dean. I tell aid it was meant for you.
Spencer Dean
Hey, Danny, flash your light over here, will you?
Danny Cassidy
Right.
Spencer Dean
Addressed to the manhunter from the Mountain Sporting Club, Lake Placid. Where'd you find it, Sheriff?
Danny Cassidy
Well, now, that's what speaks me. One of the boys just brought it in from the back porch of the clubhouse. It was lying right onto the doormatter.
Spencer Dean
If it had been there long, the wind would have blown it away.
Danny Cassidy
Well, there was a good reason why it couldn't blow away the. These bullets was used to weigh down the envelope, bullets and all. Caliber.32. Well, I.
Spencer Dean
You read it, Sheriff.
Danny Cassidy
Ma'am. Yeah, I figured it was important enough and I was right. But you. You better read it yourself. It's in a woman's handwriting.
Spencer Dean
Yes, from Harriet. Mr. Dean, I can't stand it any longer. This is the only way out. Don't look for the murderer anymore. I did it. I shot him with Gene's automatic. I guess the rush of wind on the bobsled smothered the sound. You see, Bruce and Gene quarreled and Bruce meant to get even. I couldn't let him do that. I care too much for Jean. Besides, Bruce only wanted to marry Eunice for her money, anyway. So don't search anymore. And don't look for me. I'm going away. Nobody will see me for a long time. At least until spring. And please tell Jean I'm not afraid. Honestly, I'm not. Tell him, too, that I loved him more than anything in this world. Signed, Harriet Renfield.
Danny Cassidy
So it was Harry. I told you. Spence, wait.
Spencer Dean
Shut up. 25 minutes only.
Danny Cassidy
2, 3.
Spencer Dean
It may have been there Lord knows how long before you found it.
Danny Cassidy
And what of it? She's confessed. That ends the case, don't it? All we got to do is to catch her.
Spencer Dean
Oh, case hasn't ended. It's just beginning. No time for explanations.
Danny Cassidy
Now.
Spencer Dean
Listen, the lake's pretty free from snow now, isn't it?
Danny Cassidy
Hardly any snow on it all.
Spencer Dean
Yes, and get your men down there fast.
Danny Cassidy
Well, what in thunder are you driving at? I get it, Spence. That business about not seeing her until spring.
Spencer Dean
Right, Danny. She meant until the ice on the lake melted.
Danny Cassidy
You mean. You mean she's going exactly. Drowned herself. Good Lord. Hey, boys, test every foot of that lake and work fast. If she's on the lake, we'll get her alive. Sheridan not dead.
Spencer Dean
Come on, Danny, let's get back to clubhouse.
Danny Cassidy
Say thanks. What did you mean about the case not being ended?
Spencer Dean
Shove your brains around a bit, Danny, will you? How about this letter?
Danny Cassidy
Well, how about it?
Spencer Dean
Doesn't it strike you as rather fortunate that while she can to killing Cartwright, she didn't say anything about having shot Eunice?
Danny Cassidy
Holy mother.
Spencer Dean
That she doesn't want us to search anymore. Don't look for the murderer anymore. Don't search anymore.
Danny Cassidy
Oh, trying to take the blame on herself, you think?
Spencer Dean
Trying to wipe Danny. The whole thing cries out fake. Don't you notice anything else about it?
Danny Cassidy
Oh, about Jean. She felt all broken up when she wrote that, I guess, huh?
Spencer Dean
Yes, broken up, but not broken down. She kept on Dania. Takes nerve to kill yourself in order to conceal.
Danny Cassidy
Well, maybe she suspects who did kill Cartwright. Well, what makes you think?
Spencer Dean
Common sense, Danny. His confession is false.
Danny Cassidy
But if she didn't shoot Bruce, why does she want to kill herself? I see it. The COVID The real killer.
Spencer Dean
Exactly.
Danny Cassidy
Harriet Renfield knows who killed Cartwright and would rather kick in herself than let anybody know.
Spencer Dean
Right. Where's Moyford?
Danny Cassidy
He's upstairs in his room. He's got one of the deputies with him.
Spencer Dean
All right now, Danny, be back to work fast. Come on upstairs, Danny.
Danny Cassidy
Right. Wait a second. That isn't Moyce's room. Shut up. But this belongs to one of the girls.
Spencer Dean
I know this is Harriet's room. Come on, now, let's have a look around. What in the world do you expect.
Danny Cassidy
To find in her room?
Spencer Dean
A muff, possibly.
Danny Cassidy
A muff. Well, I don't see.
Spencer Dean
I know you don't.
Danny Cassidy
You will, though.
Spencer Dean
Look through that wastebasket, Danny.
Danny Cassidy
Nothing in here.
Spencer Dean
Nothing in the closet either, then.
Danny Cassidy
Say, here's some pieces of cloth. That's them.
Spencer Dean
Raised satin. Now, I wonder.
Danny Cassidy
They're all torn up. That's funny. There are no gray dresses here.
Spencer Dean
No, I don't think these bits of satin came from a dress.
Danny Cassidy
Well, anyway, these scraps of silk can't give us a lead to the murderer.
Spencer Dean
That's a. I should say they can. In fact, they've done just that.
Danny Cassidy
For Pete's sake, Spence Cartwright wasn't strangled to death with a piece of silk cloth. And Eunice wasn't shot in the shoulder by a bolt of silk. How do you figure these bits of satin have anything to do with it?
Spencer Dean
Let's show them to Mo, see if he can make anything out of them. Come on. We'd like to see Morris a minute.
Danny Cassidy
Oh, come on in, Mr. Dean. Hello, Mr. Cassidy.
Spencer Dean
I wonder if we could talk to Morris a moment, Deputy, then.
Danny Cassidy
Sure, go right ahead.
Spencer Dean
I wonder if you'd wait outside.
Danny Cassidy
Why, sure, sure. Well, I told you gentlemen I wouldn't talk anymore, and I won't either.
Spencer Dean
We know that. We thought you might like to see this.
Danny Cassidy
What about?
Spencer Dean
Ever seen before?
Danny Cassidy
Never. What's the idea? Old to have been.
Spencer Dean
Not at all. We merely wondered whether you knew anything about it.
Danny Cassidy
Where'd you get it? In Harriet's room. Harriet's room? Why don't you ask her about it?
Spencer Dean
I haven't found her yet.
Danny Cassidy
I suppose just because she didn't turn up when you wanted to ask her some more of your silly questions, that you think she killed Cartwright?
Spencer Dean
That's not the only reason.
Danny Cassidy
No. What do you mean you found something? Yes. What is it?
Spencer Dean
A letter.
Danny Cassidy
Letter? What are you driving at?
Spencer Dean
Any rate, it yourself from Haggard.
Danny Cassidy
Don't search anything in this world.
Narrator
Good Lord.
Danny Cassidy
Well, what about it? It's incredible. You don't think we take the letter, do you? You would have your handwrites all right.
Spencer Dean
Well, I guess this makes further questioning of you unnecessary. Moyes on the link.
Danny Cassidy
Wife pay. That means.
Spencer Dean
Yes, I think it does.
Danny Cassidy
You can't stand there and show me that Harriet's going to commit suicide.
Spencer Dean
We're doing everything we can to prevent it.
Danny Cassidy
But she's going to drown herself.
Spencer Dean
I think she'll try.
Danny Cassidy
Well, the sheriff has his men down in the lake. Now they'll stop. Let me look. Let me look.
Spencer Dean
Hold on a minute. You can't do anything they're not doing.
Danny Cassidy
She couldn't have keep them. Why, you know her too well. Well, but you see for yourself. That letter is a confession. All right.
Spencer Dean
The other side would be a confession, wouldn't it?
Danny Cassidy
You'll admit that that's your fault.
Spencer Dean
Mine?
Danny Cassidy
Yes, yours. They call you the Manhunter. Well, you're not. Well, no. You're not the man hunter. You're a woman hunter. Hounded her to her death.
Spencer Dean
No. You see, I didn't kill Bruce Cartwright. Whoever did that is responsible.
Danny Cassidy
All right, then I'll take the responsibility. You killed Cartwright. Yes, I did. Now find Harriet before it's too late. Find her, I tell you. I don't care what happens to me.
Spencer Dean
I can understand that. She feels just as she did.
Danny Cassidy
Heaven's sake, stop talking and do something. She'll kill herself by the time you get.
Spencer Dean
The sheriff's men are doing everything that can be done. If Harriet can be found, they'll find her. As for yourself.
Danny Cassidy
Oh, I don't care about myself. Send it in the chair if you want to. Only save her.
Spencer Dean
Yes, that's just the trouble. Trouble?
Danny Cassidy
Say, doesn't this confession clear up everything?
Spencer Dean
No, I wouldn't say that. There's too many people anxious to take the blame. First Harriet and now you. Moist, I tell you why I did it.
Danny Cassidy
I killed him, not Harry.
Spencer Dean
How did you do it?
Danny Cassidy
I shot him. With my gun. Yes. Go on. Well, that's all there is to it. I was coming down the run, gaining speed. I reached around the girls and shot him in the back. That's all? Yes.
Spencer Dean
That means several loopholes.
Danny Cassidy
That's all I've got to say.
Spencer Dean
Where's the gun now?
Danny Cassidy
Why, I threw it away. Where?
Spencer Dean
I threw it in the lake. Cut a hole in the ice in order to hide it all to the.
Danny Cassidy
Place where the ice sink. I broke it and threw the gun in. What about Eunice? Did you shoot her too?
Spencer Dean
Did you use a silencer on your automatic, Morris?
Danny Cassidy
Silencer? Who did?
Spencer Dean
Where'd you get it?
Danny Cassidy
War had it for some time. Send it these convenient friends.
Spencer Dean
Well, would you mind taking us to the place on the lake where you threw away the gun?
Danny Cassidy
Well, not sure. Not sure I can find it. Oh, well, all right.
Spencer Dean
Go downstairs and get our coach. You ready, Denny?
Danny Cassidy
Yeah, sure.
Spencer Dean
Meet you downstairs, Mike.
Danny Cassidy
All right. I'll be ready. Say, that's a cockeyed story.
Spencer Dean
Yes, I think so.
Danny Cassidy
Equally have shot units?
Spencer Dean
Obviously not. And I don't think he shot Cartwright.
Danny Cassidy
Just trying to take the blame to save the girl, huh? Yes.
Spencer Dean
Don't forget the bits of statin.
Danny Cassidy
Say, I can't understand you at all, Spence. Here you've got two people willing to confess to this crime and you go nuts over a piece of torn claw down there. That little clump of spoon.
Spencer Dean
When did you drop the gun? On the lake.
Danny Cassidy
Why, late last night. Did you come down here by yourself? Yes. No one saw me.
Spencer Dean
Very good reason. Why, Moyes, you weren't out of sight of a deputy for five minutes. Don't you think you've carried this thing far enough? All this attempt to show to the blame for Cartwright's killing.
Danny Cassidy
I tell you, I did it. Harriet was lying. She simply wanted to clear me.
Spencer Dean
Yes, and you wanted to clear her. You didn't kill Cartwright. I'm sure of it. But you think Harriet did?
Danny Cassidy
No. I tell you, no, she couldn't.
Spencer Dean
Well, it may ease your mind to learn that.
Danny Cassidy
Hey, look there in the cold. That's the sheriff. Come on. They found us.
Sheriff
She funny.
Danny Cassidy
They're chasing her. She's on thin ice. There.
Sheriff
Have you. You. Stop.
Eunice Renfrew
Stop.
Sheriff
The eyes are free.
Spencer Dean
Stop that.
Danny Cassidy
Careful.
Sheriff
Watch that ice in danger. The room for that thin spot. It's cracking. It's cracking.
Danny Cassidy
Stop. Stop.
Sheriff
It's not safe there.
Danny Cassidy
Liz.
Sheriff
Get her, man. Get her. Quick, before you go through. Don't go too close.
Danny Cassidy
Keep through. Look, Danny, those keys over here in the snow. Taking them here, boy. Don't go near us. 10 ice.
Sheriff
We'll get us.
Danny Cassidy
Hang on.
Sheriff
The ice, Harry. I'll get you.
Danny Cassidy
Don't let it save me. So bag.
Sheriff
Mr. Har.
Eunice Renfrew
You. You can't make it.
Sheriff
Hang on.
Danny Cassidy
Please promise us.
Eunice Renfrew
I can't hold on any longer.
Sheriff
Favor. Someone favor.
Danny Cassidy
Please give them to me. Are you going to crawl over that rotten ice with your foe keys? I'm going to save that girl.
Sheriff
Oh, I wish a fool should come under the eyes.
Danny Cassidy
Look out, Spence. Look out. That ice is going, I tell you how, boy.
Sheriff
With these many pearls carrying her in shore.
Danny Cassidy
Get her knacks. We'll have to chop the ice. Eunice, I thought you were in bed.
Sheriff
All right now, boys, hang on. We got you.
Danny Cassidy
She must have gone away from us. She's gone in the water. Can you make it, Eunice?
Eunice Renfrew
I'll make it. I can see her now. I've got her.
Danny Cassidy
Here. Rapid speed.
Eunice Renfrew
Oh, in here.
Danny Cassidy
Here. Make her he draw.
Spencer Dean
Drag them back slowly, men.
Danny Cassidy
That ice is still dangerous.
Spencer Dean
For Grenfell.
Danny Cassidy
How did you come out?
Eunice Renfrew
Oh, don't bother with me.
Danny Cassidy
Tari is unconscious.
Eunice Renfrew
Can you bring her back to life?
Danny Cassidy
Well, we've tried first aid.
Spencer Dean
Work her arms, Denny.
Danny Cassidy
Right. Juan is dead. I can do. She's dead. One, two.
Eunice Renfrew
Does she mean so much, too?
Danny Cassidy
Too? She means so much to me that if she's gone, June, I'll kill myself.
Spencer Dean
Heads up, Moy. There's been enough killing. There'll be no more. Just ran through. How did you get down here?
Eunice Renfrew
I heard the starving. Send the nurse out of the rooms.
Spencer Dean
Bleeding badly.
Danny Cassidy
Is she alive? Oh, don't bother me. She'll be all right in a. In a minute.
Spencer Dean
We better get you back to the house, you know.
Eunice Renfrew
Doesn't make much difference about me.
Danny Cassidy
She. She's coming too. Aaron. Harriet. Thank God.
Eunice Renfrew
Oh, go ahead. Torture me. I don't care.
Spencer Dean
We're not trying to torture you. I think you've done that for yourself.
Eunice Renfrew
Why do you ask me these questions, then?
Danny Cassidy
What do you want to know?
Spencer Dean
Why did you shoot your fiance?
Danny Cassidy
I hated him.
Eunice Renfrew
I always hated Bruce. I only accepted him out of spite after I lost him.
Spencer Dean
You tried hard to hold him.
Eunice Renfrew
So hard.
Danny Cassidy
So very hard.
Eunice Renfrew
Only yesterday, at the ski jump, I told him again I'd never love anybody else.
Danny Cassidy
Forgot.
Eunice Renfrew
Oh, it's all right. He must hope dry.
Danny Cassidy
Awfully dry.
Eunice Renfrew
I mean, that glass of water. Will he do.
Spencer Dean
Drinking?
Eunice Renfrew
He used you get the last thing up. Ever ask you to do them for me.
Spencer Dean
Denny. There's poison in the glass.
Eunice Renfrew
Yes, there is.
Danny Cassidy
Get a doctor, Danny.
Eunice Renfrew
You're a little late, Manhunter. The doctor won't help. You can't save me now. Poison in that glass Works in it. A few minutes. You'd better let me go on.
Spencer Dean
Well, perhaps it's better this way. After all.
Eunice Renfrew
It is. How did you know I did it first?
Spencer Dean
The muff. You see, your sister didn't have one. You did. Made a perfect hiding place for a gun.
Eunice Renfrew
Where did you find it?
Spencer Dean
I never did find it. But Harriet did. She suspected what she'd find too.
Eunice Renfrew
What was that?
Spencer Dean
The lining was burnt from the shot you fired. So Harriet tore up the lining, destroyed the burnt part, just without the pieces to save me? Yes, I think so.
Eunice Renfrew
But I thought if I shot myself, it would throw you off the cat.
Spencer Dean
It might have, but you overplayed your hand. You told us you saw the gun. That was an automatic with a silence on us.
Eunice Renfrew
Sounded all right to me.
Spencer Dean
Well, there must have been a silence or because we didn't hear any shots. But you were hit Twice.
Eunice Renfrew
That was me. Don't you think it was foolish?
Spencer Dean
You see, units of silencer can't be used on an automatic for more than one shot.
Eunice Renfrew
So you knew I was lying.
Spencer Dean
Yes. I knew that you hadn't used Jean's gun. I suspect you planted that in Harriet's room and used another.
Eunice Renfrew
She must have found it there.
Spencer Dean
Yes. Knowing that, you tried to put the blame on her. She was ready to kill herself. It.
Eunice Renfrew
Oh, I'm glad she didn't succeed.
Spencer Dean
So glad your plan nearly worked. Harriet helped you by running away and.
Danny Cassidy
By writing that confession.
Eunice Renfrew
I hadn't counted on that. But if it hadn't been for Jean.
Spencer Dean
Yes.
Eunice Renfrew
I couldn't see Jean taking the blame. Anything but that.
Danny Cassidy
You. Please.
Eunice Renfrew
I'm sorry. I'm more sorry than you'll ever know.
Danny Cassidy
About all of it. I believe you.
Eunice Renfrew
Tell Harry, won't you?
Danny Cassidy
Yes.
Eunice Renfrew
Mistakes. Goodbye to her. For me.
Danny Cassidy
I will. Eve.
Eunice Renfrew
I'm going now.
Danny Cassidy
You can't die like this.
Spencer Dean
All over my.
Danny Cassidy
She did? Yes.
Spencer Dean
I think you better go to a sl.
Danny Cassidy
Sister. You're right. How can you beat that? She wanted to kiss him goodbye.
Spencer Dean
He's a lucky man. It might have been a.32 caliber kiss. Instead. Danny.
