Tennessee Ernie Ford
That's right, it's the Tennessee Ernie show with lovely Joan o' Brien, Clippy Stone and his Capitol Recording Band. And our guest star today, little 13 year old Molly B. All brought to you by prime, the new and easy self neutralizing home permanent. And now here's the star of our show with a hit of the day, Tennessee Ernie.
Joan O'Brien

Tennessee Ernie Ford
Thank you. Thank you very much and welcome to the Tennessee Ernie Show. And my thanks to Vicky Stone and all of you little hot rocks for playing so great tonight. Boys, you outdid yourselves. You folks met all the boys in the band proud of our rhythm guitar player, Billy Strange. He's a nice, tall, slim feller. I saw him the other day with a pair of bathing trunks on. He looked like a pair of pliers with a band aid wrapped around. We're proud of you, Bill. We certainly are. We've got them all shapes in this band. George Bruns, he looks like three of the rest of them. And Lily Liebert. We have a good time. We have someone else in our group, too. Lovely little Joan o' Brien. Joanie, it's getting so that you're not so little anymore, are you? You're pretty, too. You're welcome. How old are you, Joan? Seventeen. Well, that's all. Joanie, what are you laughing about? There's not anybody in here that remembers when you were 17. Anybody. Joanie, we want you to sing. And she's picked a beautiful song to sing for us tonight called let's Pretend.
Molly B
Pretend you're happy when you're blue.
Tennessee Ernie Ford
It.
Molly B
Isn'T very hard to do and you'll find happiness without an end. Whenever you pretend. Remember anyone can dream and nothing's bad as it may seem. See the little things you haven't got could be a lot if you pretend you will find a love you can share One you can call on your own. Just close your eyes. You'll be sad, you'll never be alone. And if you sing this melody. You'll be pretending Just like me. The world is mine, it can be your was my friend so why don't you preach?
Tennessee Ernie Ford
Thank you, Joanie. That was nice. I'm down in the audience. And I'm enjoying it, too. I don't know. They're a pretty good looking bunch of pea pickers. I wanted to talk to a few of them down here. We had some. We've got a sponsor, by the way, for this half hour show. This. We're lucky there. It's. Of course, it's mostly for the women folks. Also for the men folks. Makes the women folks look pretty. And the men folks, they can enjoy looking at them. Our sponsor is A Home permanent. I keep it up, we'll get this show on television. Boy, no. I stopped by this feller here and I just said it was a home. What's your Name, sir? Bowman. Mr. Bowman. I knew a lot of Bowmans in Tennessee. They had more Bowmans back there than a brush rabbit. You from back there anywhere? No. That's why. Where you from? Utah, originally. Whereabouts? Salt Lake. Oh. I deer hunt out a price every year. Yeah, I got The Price and Hunt with the. You know, the Briners, they live in. They got some kin folks in Salt Lake. But thanks a lot for being a good sport with the home permit. This man here, boy, if there was a rooster in here, he'd crow. Because this man's head looks like the sun's coming up, I'll tell you. But we do have a sponsor, and we're very. What are you laughing at? Look at them in here. It looks like a bunch of silver dollars laying around on the top of the table. And I want to find somebody here that's got a prom. I wonder if I can talk. You're in my way there, Marine. What's your age? Hi.
Joan O'Brien
Hi.
Tennessee Ernie Ford
Pendleton? Yeah. Let you out for a night, huh? Oh, yeah, A little while. Your eyes are all red. It's been a long time since you've been out. Here's a nice young lady. Can I get in here and talk to her? Go somewhere and sit down. Thank you. Hi. How are you?
Estelle Sigler

Tennessee Ernie Ford

Estelle Sigler
I plan to get another one.

Estelle Sigler

Tennessee Ernie Ford
You can give it yourself. How do you find prom? I mean, really.
Estelle Sigler
Well, it's so simple to give. I can give it to myself. That's one.
Tennessee Ernie Ford
That's why it's so popular in Tennessee. It's a sample to give.
Estelle Sigler
Well, Sue.
Tennessee Ernie Ford
No, I'm glad because your hair looks lovely and I know you enjoy your prom.
Estelle Sigler
I do it so. Saves so much time in giving it because you don't have to use any neutralizer and. Well, then I can give it to myself. I don't have to go around looking for someone to give it to me.
Tennessee Ernie Ford
Do go on.
Estelle Sigler
Yeah, okay. I sure will.
Tennessee Ernie Ford
Well, I want to thank you. I never did ask you. Your name.
Estelle Sigler
Estelle Sigler.
Tennessee Ernie Ford
Mrs. Ms. Or Mrs. Mrs. Sigler. You got any little signals? Yes, you have one little signal, Sigler?
Estelle Sigler

Tennessee Ernie Ford
Is it in Tennessee or out here?
Estelle Sigler

That's wonderful. Thank you. Thank you very much. And prom is just like that. It's that easy, self neutralizing prom. And you can get the kind of prom that's just right for your type of hair. If it's stubborn and bulky or fluffy. Or you can get the kind of prom that goes with your hair. Prom, super prom, Very gentle. Or prom. What's the other one? Regular. Regular. That's it.
Joan O'Brien
Prom.
Tennessee Ernie Ford
Regular. You've been real nice. Thank you very much. Say, we've got a guest tonight. Now, I want you to see if you can. It so happens that our very famous guest is in the audience with us tonight. She's been recently on the Ed Sullivan show, the Jimmy Gleason show and all over America. She's on Capitol Records and she's in our audience tonight. Let's see who can find our guest. Turn. Look at your neighbor. Who can find her? Hurry up. Somebody be first. Right back here. Somebody find her. Well, my good friend here and the sailor boy. Hi, buddy. Hello, sir. Who is our guest? I don't know her name. You don't know her game, but she's so pretty. You figured this was a guest, is that it? Our guest tonight is lovely little Molly B. Stand up, Molly. Give her a hand, huh? Well, down, honey. Fine. Well, it had to be a man that found her. I can't give you a prom. We got anything for the men. Oh, do we? Yeah, she's right back there. And Molly is with us tonight. Molly, while I talk to the sailor boy here, you run up on the stage and get your number ready, will you? Fine. Get in here and talk with this boy for a minute. Excuse me, ma' am. Where you from? Tennessee Ernie Ford
Thank you, darling. Than oh, you're a sweetheart. You are. I wish I had a half a dozen like you running around the house. You're just. You're just as cute. What's next here? You're awful cute, Molly. This is the first time I've ever seen this. Oh, back into the. Oh yeah, the commercial. I don't mind doing these commercials for this show. It's pretty interesting. You know, somebody said, we got you a sponsor. Well, I was happy enough and I said, what is it? And they said, a permanent for women. And they started talking about self neutralizers. And I knew about as much about something like that as a hog of the saddle on. But I. I got the word and it, it sounds real good. Say, how many of you women folks, what do you ask yourself in the morning? Suppose you get up in the morning and go to the mirror and look at your hair. What do you say? It's just what I figured. You take old Ernie's word for something. Here boy, I've got the pea picking best. I'll tell you this thing called prom. A lot of you women worry, of course. This is the time of year when you're riding convertibles with the top down and you go to the beach and your hair flies everywhere and you get home and it looks like a hurrah's nest. And this is the thing you need, this prom. It's wonderful. P R O M. I say that because a soft and natural looking prom is going to make you look prettier. And I'm not just talking to hear my head roar. This prom is self neutralizing. Prom is going to save you a lot of trouble. You don't have to mess around with a separate neutralizer, dabbing it on and off and dropping it on the floor. And then when it's all over, you don't know whether it's right or not. Told you I knew something about. With prom, nature takes over the neutralizing. Thirty minutes after applying the mild acting prom lotion, you just rinse your hair out in clean water and your prom neutralizes itself naturally as your hair dries on the curlers. Now that's simple enough, isn't it? Saves you the work and all of the guesswork. And you get a better permanent than if you had used a separate neutralizer. Now you be one of Ernie's little fee picking prom gals and you get some prom. When I say prom, it's spelled P R O M. And you get some for old Ernie, will you? Here's one of today's most beautiful ballads written by the late Hank Williams. Your cheating heart.
Joan O'Brien
Your cheating heart will make you weep. You cry and cry and try to sleep. But sleep won't come the hope night through. Your cheating heart will tell on you. When tears come down like falling rain. You toss around and call my name. You walk the floor the way I do. You're cheating hard will tell on you. When tears come down like falling rain. You toss around and call my name. Walk the floor the way I do. Your cheating heart will tell on you.
Tennessee Ernie Ford
Thank you very much. Thank you. You're very nice to us and awful good to us. We're having A good time here today. I'd like to thank you for all the letters and all the cards. What do you want? Stretch it. Stretch what? Oh, we're going a little fast. Are we going a little fast? Well, I just wanted to say it to all the people all the way across the country. You boys can be replaced. We're having a great time here today. I got some wonderful mail and some letters from people all over the country. It makes us feel good. And they send in little snapshots of all the family and hogs and dogs and chickens all over the country. We get letters, you know, and they send in little funnies. Here's one here from Bill Taylor at 2399 Main street in Laramie, Wyoming. Said there was a cowboy and there was a young lady visiting from the city and they got engaged and she went back to the big city and she wrote him a letter about all the modern conveniences in a hotel. She said, why, I even have a room with running water. And he wrote back and said, you get rid of that Indian or the engagement's off. It'll take a minute. The back of the studio just got that one. Then. Bill, can I have a little mood music, please? I have a poem. I'm not in that kind of a mood, Bill. Something, you know, sort of. Well, about three bars of it. No. Now, slow it down just a little. Here's a little poem. A skunk is certainly a beautiful sight A two tone job in black and white. But please avoid at every cost the deadly fumes from his exhaust. Thank you for your cards and letters. That's funny. Well, now it's time to play our little prom medley game. This is a little game that we started. And I'll tell you something about it. Won't take but a few seconds. You write us a letter now and include in your letter four song titles. One beginning with a picture P, one beginning with an R, one with an O, and one with an M that spells prom. And if we choose your letter, you get a nice prize. That's all there is. To our little prom medley game, and we're to play it right now. And we thank Mrs. Lucy Crane of La Crosse, Wisconsin, for her winning letter and for her four songs. Here's the first one. The song beginning with a P, sung by lovely Joanie o' Brien. Put your arms around me.

Joan O'Brien
I'm afraid to hug you, I'm afraid you'd break. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, you beautiful doll.
Tennessee Ernie Ford
Our last song, the one beginning with the M, is a lovely ballad of today. Come up, Joanie o' Brien, and help me with the beautiful. Miss you.

Miss you since you went away, dear.
Joan O'Brien
Miss you more than I can say, dear.
