Ed Bassmaster
That's right. Another one of these YouTube retards, hearts ed Bassmaster, sir.
Chris Distefano
I'm a retard. How you doing?
Giannis Papas
How you doing?
Chris Distefano
How you doing? I'm a retard. Yes.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
I'm kidding. I just want to say that.
Giannis Papas
Yeah. You're a funny guy.
Chris Distefano
Thank you.
Giannis Papas
You're a funny, funny guy. I've been following you.
Ed Bassmaster
Loves you.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Chris Distefano
Thank you.
Giannis Papas
For a long time, I love the characters. I do characters myself. And it's very nice when you can hide behind a character and just say a lot of wild things.
Chris Distefano
Absolutely. Yeah.
Giannis Papas
And you go out in the world.
Chris Distefano
And you do it.
Ed Bassmaster
But what Ed. What I like about Ed Bass at Bassmaster is he said before, that's his real name. Yeah. Changed your name and became a trans woman. Ed went on as Ed.
Giannis Papas
I did. I started living as her for a long time.
Ed Bassmaster
Ed is Ed.
Giannis Papas
Yeah. When you're doing the characters, are you thinking as them as well?
Chris Distefano
Absolutely. Yeah, Absolutely.
Giannis Papas
You do full. That's why they so believe. Well, you commit, dude.
Ed Bassmaster
And I got to be honest, you look fantastic. You're a 53 year old kid and look at how. I mean you look. Literally 25 years old.
Chris Distefano
I know. Yeah, thanks.
Giannis Papas
It's you know who, right?
Chris Distefano
52.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah. I'm sorry about that.
Giannis Papas
Your matters.
Ed Bassmaster
I didn't mean that.
Giannis Papas
I wouldn't.
Chris Distefano
After 50 every year matters for sure.
Ed Bassmaster
You look really now. How's your cholesterol, blood pressure? How we doing?
Chris Distefano
Very good. On top of it. I. I was medicated like eight years ago by my doctor and then I just said, you know this. I'm just gonna take control of my life. And I did. And ever since then everything's normal.
Ed Bassmaster
Dude. Wait, so you on pills though?
Chris Distefano
I was. Not anymore. I stopped. Oh yeah? Yeah. I started just. I cut out processed meat and all this. That causes high cholesterol and went back. I've been. I go back for blood work once a year and I'm good. I'm a good healthy 50, 52 year old guy.
Giannis Papas
You gotta. There comes to a certain point where you just start developing a relationship with your dad. Doctors.
Ed Bassmaster
Yes.
Giannis Papas
It's just a check in. You got it. You got, you get, you get to about 40 or 50, there just comes a point where you got to do regular check ins to make sure you don't die.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
Right now we could die.
Chris Distefano
Absolutely.
Giannis Papas
Yeah. Middle aged kids with three middle aged guys right here.
Ed Bassmaster
I'm a middle aged kid. I'm going to be 41. But I am middle aged.
Giannis Papas
Yeah. We are three middle aged white guys. Now the thing that me and Ed could do is we could become not middle aged guys and we can skirt by. You're always going to just be a middle aged guy.
Ed Bassmaster
What do you mean?
Giannis Papas
You need a trans character.
Ed Bassmaster
Oh, that's right. Yes.
Chris Distefano
Yes.
Giannis Papas
You need a minority character. You need to be able to transform out.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah. Now, because ed, because you're 52 year old. 52 year old, honey. With a body. What was the highest your cholesterol was?
Chris Distefano
I don't, I don't remember the numbers. My doctor told me, you know, it was high. He read me the numbers. I don't know the numbers.
Ed Bassmaster
Now you a Jewish kid?
Chris Distefano
I'm Italian, Puerto Rican and Russian Joe.
Ed Bassmaster
Wow.
Chris Distefano
My mom.
Ed Bassmaster
It's Bassmaster.
Chris Distefano
The archmaster is Italian actually. Yeah, I don't know. Yep. Yeah, that's.
Giannis Papas
No, it's just how you pronounce it. Bassmaster.
Chris Distefano
No, it's Rodriguez is my birth name. So half Puerto Rican, half Italian, half part Russian Joe.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah.
Chris Distefano
And my mom was Italian. Russian Jew. My father was Puerto Rican.
Ed Bassmaster
Are they, are they with us still?
Chris Distefano
No longer with my mom. No longer my dad. Don't know. He's. He took off.
Ed Bassmaster
He left Bob Kensington, Fentanyl or.
Chris Distefano
Probably. Yeah, probably.
Ed Bassmaster
Or if it happens to a lot.
Giannis Papas
Of Florida and these. Listen, that's what happened. Dad's not in the picture. Sometimes you got to create dads to talk to. That's maybe where the characters.
Chris Distefano
That's where the character started. I had to fill that void. So. Yeah, the first one was always testy.
Ed Bassmaster
Dude, what I like about you. What I like about you too is, is every video that I watch you, I. I laugh like hard. Because sometimes, you know, like, especially like with the Internet, what it is sometimes, like as comics, as us coming from, like the stand up background, you're like, okay, I know what this one's doing. This is hack shit. People like it. But would you. I'm like, oh, no, dude, this guy's like fudgeing. When a couple of the videos we watched before was like, oh, this is like legitimately great, like writing. This is like what SNL was like in the 90s, right?
Chris Distefano
Your stuff, you just take the character to the streets. And more psych than just, you know, the cookie cutter pranks that you always say.
Ed Bassmaster
Well, when you do it in the streets too. When the one that we showed me from that office when. From like 14 years ago.
Giannis Papas
Yeah, you've been doing it for a long time.
Ed Bassmaster
That was hilarious with the one when, you know, you're like on an actual job interview and they have no idea. Yeah, yeah.
Giannis Papas
What's. What's that guy's name? That dude?
Chris Distefano
Chip Diamond.
Ed Bassmaster
Chip Diamond. Sick Mullet. Yeah.
Giannis Papas
And the Cosby sweater.
Chris Distefano
Yeah, the knockoff Cosby sweater.
Ed Bassmaster
That's awesome.
Giannis Papas
He's the one that really took off at first, Right. Like, was Chip.
Chris Distefano
The look at it video was way before Chip Diamond. So just look at it. I don't know if you've seen that. It's. Oh, would you look at that?
Giannis Papas
Oh, that guy.
Chris Distefano
Yeah, yeah, he didn't see it, so I got it.
Giannis Papas
No, yeah, he just caught so many of them.
Ed Bassmaster
Like, he's just like.
Chris Distefano
You just look at it was like way, way, way viral. Like everybody.
Giannis Papas
Well, Chip diamond was the one where I caught. I caught you.
Chris Distefano
Yeah, that was a little bit later on.
Giannis Papas
And then you had the Southern guy, like the Bumbles Bar and yeah, the guy. You can't even understand what he's saying. And so he'll talk to people and they'll be like, what?
Chris Distefano
How do you do it again here? When New York City might take out Montage of podcast, you just got to throw in real words every once in a while.
Ed Bassmaster
Do you? But like, so when you're doing that with the real people, is there like a, like a feeling of like, anxiety before it, or do you feel like kind of just calm the whole.
Chris Distefano
It's anxiety. So like, anytime the camera starts rolling and even before and we're driving around trying to find somebody to engage with, it's. It's like diarrhea, cramps.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, yeah.
Chris Distefano
Not wanting to get out of the car and face the.
Ed Bassmaster
But that motivates you? Like, you want to go towards that?
Chris Distefano
No, it doesn't motivate me, man. I'm just like, it's, it's very, gives you high anxiety and it's like, it's like, it's way harder than going on stage in front of three, 400 people.
Giannis Papas
Yeah. Because they know what they're coming.
Ed Bassmaster
They know I know.
Giannis Papas
You know, I, I, I only did it once. I only did. Because I'm, I can't do it.
Ed Bassmaster
I can't do it either. That's why it's a crazy skill he has because I couldn't do it either.
Giannis Papas
I did it one time when we did the Maurice of video. The, the rap video.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
And I was just, I felt ridiculous walking around the streets.
Chris Distefano
That's the thing. It's so embarrassing. But you have to. That's like the hardest hurdle to overcome is just. Yeah, yeah. I'm embarrassed anytime I'm in that character. It's embarrassing to walk around in the hood in Philly like a cowboy. Yeah, yeah.
Giannis Papas
And you see, you got, you got the hood character testing with the lazy.
Chris Distefano
Eye on the strength from Philly and shit.
Giannis Papas
Yeah, yeah, that's the guy.
Ed Bassmaster
I saw the interview. That's I love in the interview.
Chris Distefano
Yeah. But the problem was they wanted me to work eight hours a day and I had time to stick around.
Giannis Papas
He's like. But I don't fall asleep. I work pretty hard. Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Well, that's what I liked about it too, is the dialog within the characters is. Well, you're not. I mean, I know there's riffing involved, but you're writing that a little bit, at least before some of the, I mean, well, you're going in with an idea.
Chris Distefano
With the idea of you're doing a job interview and bringing a 40 ounce and that's it. And then everything else is just improv. Yeah.
Giannis Papas
How does it, how do you set it up? Like, how do you.
Chris Distefano
So that particular one with the job interview was a pet store local To Philly. And the owner hit me up and just asked me to prank one of his employees. So I said, well, let's do a fake interview with my character, who's fresh out of prison and his parole officer, which was played by another YouTube guy, Jack Vale, and set up their hiring manager. And we went. He had seven stores or something like that. So we went to the one where he wasn't set up cameras and had it set up where he was coming in to interview me. And he was led to believe that, like, for, like, I don't know, with the state and the parole and, like, they had to interview this guy. It's part of, you know, it's part of the program, the work release program. So there was no question, like, why his probation officers, they just knew he was a hood.
Giannis Papas
Right, right, right. Yeah. And do you ever. Do you ever have times when you do it and it doesn't work?
Chris Distefano
Sure, yeah. Yeah.
Giannis Papas
I mean, do you get recognized now? Because that's. I know that's the problem. Borat had a lot, too. Or like, I'm sure even the jokers at some point. It's like, everyone knows who you are when you try to.
Chris Distefano
Oh, yeah, yeah. Every time we're shooting, we get stopped, but it usually doesn't ruin the moment that we're trying to achieve. So. But, you know, sometimes we put it in the videos. Yeah, yeah.
Giannis Papas
Who's the biggest dudes, like, who've. Because Chip Diamond, I know, has done some, like, collaboration stuff. Like, you know, and you've done like, some mainstream videos with Chip Diamond.
Chris Distefano
Right.
Giannis Papas
Like you did. I mean, sports thing.
Chris Distefano
I did a choke. John Jones choked me out.
Giannis Papas
Yeah, that's right.
Ed Bassmaster
No, really, I don't know how that's. That's like the most impressive.
Chris Distefano
No, I've heard of that.
Ed Bassmaster
Sprayed him, dude.
Giannis Papas
Because the thing is, Chip diamond is like a little. He's a. He's a dismissive dude.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
Like, he's. He's kind of, like, arrogant. But it's funny because he's like a loser kind of.
Chris Distefano
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
But in doing that prank, some people must get pissed.
Chris Distefano
Well, that's the thing. That's why I designed that costume to look like the guy that everybody else would go to and pay no mind to. And then he turns it around and just walks around like this. Yeah. Just looks at people and unhappy with everything.
Ed Bassmaster
Amazing.
Chris Distefano
And I figured looking like this will be hard to get beat up versus doing it as myself to. It's more confrontational. It's like, this is real.
Ed Bassmaster
Even that character like adding like the. Like the sweater and the jeans and everything's funny in the glasses, but adding the mullet is like the cherry on top that a lot of people would just not do that.
Chris Distefano
Right.
Ed Bassmaster
But it's that. Because I didn't realize because I don't really do characters. I've tried and all of mine suck, but I'm like, oh, it takes, like, such detail. Like, even when you do Maurice, it's like there's so many little details that you think are a little thing, but they turn out to be a big thing that people, like, subconsciously notice.
Giannis Papas
One time.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
You know, when we were doing shows at Caroline's, Jesse was there and I forgot to shave a little bit. So I held the show up because I was like, you know, at that point I was, like, so committed to thinking like her and transforming that I was like, I had, like, a little stubble, so somebody had to run, go get a razor, and I shaved it down. But, like, if I do it now, which I still do once in a while, I don't give a fuck anymore. I've gone out in a five o' clock shadow.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah.
Chris Distefano
I have a training. I don't know if you've seen Taqwa. I have. Yeah. And I always have full beard. And that's. I would. I started by, you know, pulling up to drive throughs with my head turn, and when they open the window, ask, you know, can I help you? I would turn around in full beard. And yeah, in public, it's, you know, it's. It's one thing to do it the way you're doing it. Try pulling up to a drive thru in that costume.
Giannis Papas
Yeah, yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Do you. Do you have, like, a schedule where you say, I want to get these videos out this week, like, or you just. When I'm inspired, I do it when.
Chris Distefano
I want to do it.
Ed Bassmaster
So there'll be sometimes weeks where you're like, I'm not doing anything. I'm creatively just backing off.
Chris Distefano
It's. It's been held over my head for. Since day one. The more I create, the more money I make, and I'm just not really into it.
Ed Bassmaster
Interesting.
Chris Distefano
I have to do it when I want to do it.
Ed Bassmaster
Well, that's probably why you're doing so.
Chris Distefano
Well, because that's why I'm not doing so well.
Ed Bassmaster
Oh, really?
Chris Distefano
Yeah. If I was more aggressive with it, I'd be making way more money.
Ed Bassmaster
But you make enough to live a good life in South Jersey.
Chris Distefano
Yeah, I do all right. But, you know, there's just so many opportunities that I don't do and the regular continuity, and it's just, I can't have that over my head. Like a guy that helps manage my Facebook, for example, he's hit me up every single day for like last two weeks. Ed, I need that video. I need that video. It's going to go viral. And I'm like, I'll get it when I feel.
Ed Bassmaster
When I get it. Do you have kids? Wife, family?
Chris Distefano
Four kids.
Ed Bassmaster
So that's what I'm saying. So wife, Wife and kids. We all, we were all just talking about this. We all have kids here. And so like, we were saying that like, well, you know, maybe we're not, you know, selling out arenas or whatever, but like, our kids love us and we're like, we get to, we get so much opportunity with our children. So it's like that imaginary Facebook gun that the guy's holding your head, it's like that's all their problem. That's right. My thing is like, we're working today, but I got to spend like the whole morning with my daughter. So it's like, what, what's the problem here?
Chris Distefano
None.
Ed Bassmaster
You know, like, we just did a full episode. That was great. Right before you came in. That was great. And then we. And then there's no ads on it. So we realized, like, our ad company just didn't book it. So we did like an episode that's free and we're like, whatever. We had fun. We had in the moment. It sucks that we're not going to make the money that we thought we're going to make, but, like, we're just going to go home.
Chris Distefano
Don't worry. This one, this one's gonna. Yeah, this one's gonna do.
Ed Bassmaster
I hope. Jesus.
Chris Distefano
I hope too. Damn. God.
Ed Bassmaster
What the hell?
Giannis Papas
Wow.
Ed Bassmaster
Four kids, 52 years old. Four kids. Puerto Rican, Jew.
Chris Distefano
Yep.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
That's nice, dude.
Chris Distefano
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
Italian. Puerto Rican.
Ed Bassmaster
And characters for your kids, do you.
Chris Distefano
Like, they, they've grown up seeing it their whole life. Yeah. And now my 16 year old kid just broke through with Instagram, like getting millions of views of doing similar. Oh, really puts them all at wig on. And totally inspired by me, obviously. But he's his own. He's his own animal and he's like breaking out and it's really not so much to do with me. At first I helped, you know, bring him a few hundred or a few thousand followers, but then he just started one day he did a video, did like 8 million views or something. And it's funny. And everybody was Sharing it. So.
Ed Bassmaster
And he's on Instagram as Ed Troutmaster Cameron.
Chris Distefano
Bassmaster Cameron. Shout out. There you go. Trout sniffer. I've been called Ass Blast.
Giannis Papas
How old is 16?
Chris Distefano
Yeah, 16. And then I have a 22 year old son who actually was just in Detroit with me. We came home last night. I had a couple shows out there and he'll go on the road with me sometimes.
Ed Bassmaster
I don't think I've ever met a guy 52 years old who looks as young as Ed Bassmaster. Yeah, he just looks young. Yeah, like we told you. Is that your oldest child?
Chris Distefano
22, 29.
Ed Bassmaster
Would you ever think he has a 29 year old child?
Giannis Papas
No, no.
Ed Bassmaster
Wild dude.
Giannis Papas
You can hang out with your kids and they look like brothers.
Chris Distefano
Yep. Yeah, yep.
Ed Bassmaster
All with the same woman.
Chris Distefano
Yes. No, no, no, no. I'm sorry.
Ed Bassmaster
No.
Chris Distefano
You want my 29 year. My 29 year old. Exactly. That's the four I know about. Anyways.
Ed Bassmaster
My 29 year old was with a different woman than the other.
Chris Distefano
Yeah, yeah. All right.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, most of them.
Chris Distefano
Three boys with my wife.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, yeah, dude. And then one. And then your oldest is a girl.
Chris Distefano
Yep.
Ed Bassmaster
Right.
Chris Distefano
And she's like 10 minutes from my house, so it's tight. Tight family. And we. We're good. We're good to go.
Giannis Papas
That's good. Now, is Philly like the biggest you draw the most in Philly, or do you think the different characters draw differently in different areas? Because I ran into that situation where I'd go to some places and.
Chris Distefano
What do you mean? As far as the live shows or.
Giannis Papas
As far as live shows?
Chris Distefano
Live shows? No, I haven't. I've only done like a few in Philly.
Giannis Papas
They.
Chris Distefano
They drew more than, you know, most areas. But I've been to other areas more times than I have in Philly.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Chris Distefano
And you know, the draw is it seems about average. It seems pretty widespread. Like I went to Canada recently and did like 10 shows there. It was pretty widespread. I didn't realize I had, you know, what I'm show.
Ed Bassmaster
Is it like you characters, are you doing stand up?
Chris Distefano
So at first, speaking of hiding behind the characters, that's what I was doing for a while, was just coming out in character because I was comfortable with it, doing costume changes, having videos play in between. And the audience, they, they seem to love that, you know, watching my YouTube stuff in between. But recently in like the last, I'd say 30 to 40 shows, it's just been myself developing stand up, basically emulating the same stories I did in costume. But out of costume, channeling the characters, telling stories. Everybody that's been at even all these shows, they know who I am, so they want to hear about. But I also am doing my show now as if I'm in a fresh audience that has no idea who I am.
Ed Bassmaster
Have you ever walked into on tour yet? Just a nice fat bomb. Ever walked into Just a nice fat. Just of course, from the audience.
Chris Distefano
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Zero sweat dripping down your back.
Chris Distefano
Kentucky was one. It was just like. The audience was like.
Ed Bassmaster
Just.
Chris Distefano
All right. They didn't feel me. Do they not? There's plenty. Of course. Yeah.
Giannis Papas
They want the characters when you could do yourself.
Chris Distefano
No, no. That's crazy. Is every single show that I've done, not one person asked, well, where was this guy? Because like I said, I bring them out and I channel them and. And it's it.
Giannis Papas
That makes it easier too, when you just way easier do them as you. Yeah, you don't have to.
Chris Distefano
So.
Ed Bassmaster
Well, and I also think too, like, you know, you. You've been on YouTube for so long, it's like they watch you on YouTube and then when the live experience, maybe they want something like a little different. Like YouTube gets in the buy ticket, but then they want. They see the real you. That's probably very interesting.
Chris Distefano
Yeah. And I've had a lot of feedback of people that were glad to see the real me and hear me come out and, you know, talk shit, you know. So, yeah, it's been working. Yeah.
Giannis Papas
Did you always do that or did you do the first one by accident? Like he threw it up and it went viral?
Chris Distefano
No, I always want to do that since I was like seven years old. Yeah. Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Really?
Chris Distefano
Yep.
Ed Bassmaster
Be on YouTube since you were actually.
Chris Distefano
No. Be on SNL? No.
Ed Bassmaster
Oh, really?
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
We ever get an audition or anything?
Chris Distefano
No.
Ed Bassmaster
You're like the perfect SNL guy.
Chris Distefano
Yeah. I. No. Never had the opportunity. And I actually, believe it or not, started stand up in philly in about 99, 1999. And I did, you know, pretty decent. I actually did really well the first. First time I ever went up at an open mic and I. Then I ended up featuring in a couple shows, but I never pursued it. I started having kids and I just wasn't able to go to New York and audition or do shows. And Philly wasn't really, you know, nobody was getting discovered out of Philly.
Ed Bassmaster
Now they are.
Chris Distefano
Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Shit's changed now. Shane Gillis. I feel like the. Are you garbage guys the Phillies we were just talking about before? The Philly Delphi Philadelphia Comedy Scene is like, like probably right. One of the hottest right outside New York.
Chris Distefano
You know, Philadelphians have great sense of humor. That's.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Chris Distefano
You know, they're just funny people, funny characters, you know, and. Yeah, pick up on that.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Remember 2 Ray? Yeah.
Chris Distefano
I did a show with 2 Ray in 1999.
Ed Bassmaster
One of the best comedians ever to watch live.
Chris Distefano
He hosted a show that I did on south street in Philly. Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Oh, yeah, Yeah.
Chris Distefano
I bombed on that one.
Ed Bassmaster
By the way, the black crowds in Philly, what I always loved and appreciate about them is they are just honest as honest could be.
Chris Distefano
If.
Ed Bassmaster
If it was funny, they laughed, it was not funny. They would just look at you and wouldn't even give you a sympathy laugh.
Chris Distefano
Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
And I appreciated that.
Giannis Papas
Yeah. Well, black crowds in general do that.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
They did the old expression black crowds and dogs can smell fear. So it seems like a tinge. It means like a black crowd smells fear.
Chris Distefano
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
You're scared.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah. You got to go up there.
Giannis Papas
They know if you're scared.
Chris Distefano
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
I think confidence is like. I don't even like, they respect it more even if your material is not good, as long as you come out there and fucking not scared.
Ed Bassmaster
Now do you remember? Are you old enough to remember? Or maybe your parents tell you stories about Mayor Frank Rizzo.
Chris Distefano
Sure.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah. Yeah. Because we have an obsession with Frank Rizzo. We call each other crumb bombs. I'll take both of you physically. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Giannis Papas
We did a full episode, it's one of our, like, classic episodes on Frank Rizzo because he was a pretty wild character.
Ed Bassmaster
So how, how is any in Philly right now?
Chris Distefano
I mean, everybody, everybody in Philly loves Frank Rizzo. You know, I'm. I'm non political, totally just off the top. I don't care about politics. I don't get involved with. I don't know who the vice president is. I don't care.
Giannis Papas
It's the best way to be, and.
Ed Bassmaster
It really is the best way to be.
Chris Distefano
So, you know, I was probably 8 or 9 years old when he was there and, you know, he was just always looked up to, regarded like, you know, like, kind of like Joey Merlino is now these days, you know?
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah. Who's Joey Molino?
Chris Distefano
Joey Merlino, the mob guy from Philly. Skinny, Skinny Joey.
Ed Bassmaster
No.
Chris Distefano
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
Is he doing content too?
Chris Distefano
He's. Yeah, he's pretty funny.
Giannis Papas
Mob guys are doing content.
Chris Distefano
Pretty funny.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
Like, yo, welcome to my podcast.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
Hey.
Chris Distefano
Oh, you gotta check out Joe Molino. He's funny one. He. They did like A Father's Day shout out. And he was like, yeah, Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there and to all you scumbag rats behind bars.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Chris Distefano
He's just like, yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
He's like, that's Colin. Quinn's got a good bit where he's like, you know, these Mafia podcast guys, they're like, you know, everyone's doing, like, content now, doing podcasts, you know, kind of talking about their crimes. They're like, you know, Joe, we remember about to kill that guy behind the park. Whatever, go. And then the Sal will be like, but, Joey, before we get to that, a word from Sherry's Berries.
Giannis Papas
Yeah, All I know from all the clips of the podcast guys, there was this guy, Dechico, some guy Dechico, who all the mobster guys were scared of. He was a. Some guy in New York. Can you look him up? DeCicco something. DeCicco.
Ed Bassmaster
Did she.
Giannis Papas
Yeah, every podcast I'm going like, you guys think I was bad? They were going like, you think we were bad? This guy, he was a sick fuck. Yeah, this guy was a sick. He's turned my stomach. I wouldn't have him watch my kids. I'd let these other killers watch my kids, but I wouldn't let this.
Ed Bassmaster
Not the chico. It was Murder Machine.
Chris Distefano
It was Anthony demeo.
Giannis Papas
Anthony Demeo. I'm sorry, Anthony.
Ed Bassmaster
Is he.
Giannis Papas
Yeah, they all talk about.
Chris Distefano
Yeah, I've seen an interview, and it's.
Giannis Papas
Funny just to watch guys who are stone cold murderers.
Ed Bassmaster
Right.
Giannis Papas
Morally judge this other guy.
Ed Bassmaster
Oh, the. The demeo gang. The Brooklyn. I think that was Bensonhurst. Like Bath Avenue Boys or something like that.
Giannis Papas
I don't know.
Ed Bassmaster
Brooklyn. Brooklyn guys. Canarsi. Oh, that's crazy, because Canarsi you think of as, like, not even having Italians.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Wow.
Giannis Papas
But supposedly this guy was, like, a twisted guy. He was, like, very twisted. So it's funny about it.
Chris Distefano
You mean.
Giannis Papas
Well, the funny thing about their content meetings, too, like. Yeah, we talk about today. Yesterday. We talked about the rape and murder. That family we did down at Bath Avenue. Yeah, yeah, we talked about.
Ed Bassmaster
Talked about the extortion case. We talked about how we beat up the federal office.
Giannis Papas
We talked about how we paid off the comps. We talked about how we extorted all those fucking bar owners. Yeah, we talked about when we hit bats. Yeah, we did that episode. You want to talk about.
Ed Bassmaster
How about for today, we'll talk about how. How the chicken palm at Louise's kind of sucks now.
Giannis Papas
We could do that one because. Did we do the Obama's a Muslim episode yet? No, we did.
Ed Bassmaster
No, we did the Michelle Obama's a man thing.
Giannis Papas
We did the Michelle Obama's. We did. We can't believe they elected a black Muslim. We did that episode.
Ed Bassmaster
We did episode.
Giannis Papas
I think the only thing left to talk about is fucking Demayo.
Chris Distefano
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
I think we should do a 20 part series on Demeo because he was a sick fuck.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
And then after that we talk about fucking cold cuts and Selima bread and the deli that I love in Philly. I mean, those guys are going to run out of content at some point. I know they're going to have to go out and do more mob just so they can support their podcast.
Ed Bassmaster
I respect that. You know though, like, that this freaking hamster wheel, like, because I feel like it's starting to happen now amongst all. All of us is like this content machine, this hamster wheel. You realize like this it's not going to end well. Like you kind of realize, like, dude, I got to do this creatively. That every single show that we grew up loving, like now kids grow up loving the best master YouTube channel. That's like their content. We grew up watching whatever. Seinfeld. But even Seinfeld took breaks. Like everybody took breaks. Where now it's like we've kind of don't even realize, like every week has to be something. Every day I see something like, there's no way that's going to. There's no way you're going to win that.
Giannis Papas
Well, it's better that way too because I think you have, you, you gain longevity when you don't do too much because you've been doing it for as long as I was doing my. Yeah, my characters were 15 years ago or whatever. Years were same. Right. 14, 15 years ago. So you sometimes take breaks and you just let videos marinate. Right.
Ed Bassmaster
Well, that's crazy. So you actually started to get popular. That's interesting. So you.
Giannis Papas
For a long time.
Ed Bassmaster
No, but I'm saying. But you start to get popular later in life. Life. Mid-30s.
Chris Distefano
It's it, bro. It's like, like right now it's, it's. It's more. It's. I don't know, I keep having like.
Ed Bassmaster
These waves kind of thing.
Chris Distefano
Yeah. And. And I sit back and chill and I just continue to put content up. And mostly now I just film with my phone, you know.
Ed Bassmaster
Right.
Chris Distefano
POV. And, and those will go wild. Eight, 20 million views, whatever. And it's sort of like the popularity is growing kind of now. I guess.
Ed Bassmaster
So actually, you're thinking now at this point in your life is maybe the biggest you've.
Chris Distefano
I feel like. Yeah, yeah. I feel like now is like the most recognizable. I'm getting hit up by the do certain, you know, gigs, like actual now.
Ed Bassmaster
Like legitimate, like a list. Celebrities are like, oh, Ed, this is.
Chris Distefano
My first big podcast.
Ed Bassmaster
Is it really?
Chris Distefano
I mean, I did Trevor Wallace.
Giannis Papas
Yeah, it's a big one.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, sure.
Chris Distefano
Yeah. So those are really, you know, I've done some smaller, you know, you know, smaller ones. But yeah, these are like my first two real, actual podcasts.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
You've heard about Built B I L T? Yeah.
Giannis Papas
Because I know that you worked with them.
Ed Bassmaster
I work with them, I did a show for them and then I really learned a lot about their product. They this is the way to pay your rent.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Is Built. I know a lot of people in New York are doing it. I would assume a lot of other cities are doing it. When you pay your rent through bilt, you unlock two very powerful benefits. First, you earn one of the industry's most valuable points on rent. So every month you're paying your rent, you're getting points. With a company, like a credit card, you're getting points, which, you know, the Greek landlords don't offer that, so.
Giannis Papas
No, they don't. And so what you're basically saying is there's no reason not to do this.
Ed Bassmaster
Exactly. Because no matter where you live or who your landlord is, your rent now works for you. Second, you gain access to exclusive neighborhood benefits in your city water. Built neighborhood benefits. Things like extra points on dining out, complimentary post workout shakes, free mats or towels at your favorite fitness studios, and unique experiences that only Built members can access. So it's like, okay, because the thing is, oh well, rent. I'm throwing my money away, I'm paying somebody else's mortgage. All that stuff could be true. But now, at least with Built, if I'm going to pay rent because I need a place to live, I'm going to get some points and some benefits for me.
Giannis Papas
I like it.
Ed Bassmaster
That's nice. And I met the kid who owns a company. Kid screwed in. He's an Indian kid from Seattle.
Giannis Papas
Like it.
Ed Bassmaster
Screwed in.
Giannis Papas
Like it.
Ed Bassmaster
So if you're not earning points on rent, my question is, what are you waiting for?
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
So start paying rent through Built and take advantage of your neighborhood benefits by going to join built.comhistory hyenas. That's J O I N B I L T.comhistory hyenas. Make sure to use our URL so they know we sent you. Joinbuilt.comhistory hyenas to sign up for Built today.
Giannis Papas
Because you know me.
Chris Distefano
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
Like you. I like to be rock hard.
Ed Bassmaster
You like to be rock hard. The only difference is. Thank you. By the way, this podcast sponsored by BlueChew. The reason why Yanni and I are the same person. There's just one minor difference. We both absolutely love to open up our DMS and see your rock hard boners in our DMs. And we know which ones are Bluechew and which ones aren't. The only differences is Yanni likes that rock hard boner with some tits.
Giannis Papas
Yeah. Yes. Blue Chews for all genders.
Ed Bassmaster
It's just what it is.
Giannis Papas
As long as you got a tool, it'll tune up the tool for you.
Ed Bassmaster
It's what it is. Yanni likes a rock hard boner with tits. Or as I like to call it, a derosa.
Giannis Papas
The guys, look, you want to be rock hard. You know what Bluetooth does? They get you rock hard, they turn you into a tripod. Get that? You know, you want to be a three legged creature.
Ed Bassmaster
Get what?
Giannis Papas
A third pole cookie.
Ed Bassmaster
Your meat telescope. That's called the meat telescope.
Chris Distefano
Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Listen, you want to have. Here's the thing. You want to. Whether it doesn't matter if you're gay, straight, whatever you are, you want to have a nice rock hard piece.
Giannis Papas
And bluechew will give that.
Ed Bassmaster
Bluechew will give it to you. I take it. My boys take it. We are all bricked up. Okay. We walk into o' Neal's in Maspeth and we are knocking down every signed picture of whatever ranger. Great. Sign their picture and put it up in o'. Neill's.

Has there ever been a time, because I'm curious about this. Did. Did you ever get close to getting hit? Like when you. Of course. Like, what was the time?
Ed Bassmaster
Did you actually ever get hit?
Chris Distefano
No, no. The closest I ever got to getting hit was here in New York city probably about 10 years ago. I was just. I was doing the chip diamond bit and I was just standing in the middle of sidewalk and I saw this black dude coming up the street. And I just looked and it was like. And he just goes, son, you want to get punched in the mouth? I'm having a up day.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Chris Distefano
And I just went, I don't give a. And in. Escalate a little bit. And then I told him it was a prank, and he smacked the glasses out of my hand and walked away.
Giannis Papas
Yeah, they're not too. That community's not into the pranks.
Chris Distefano
No, they don't.
Ed Bassmaster
You don't want to prank. No, no. The black community, like. You ever seen the Billy on the Street? Well, I've. Billy on the street is such a fun, funny TV show. You ever seen the one with Nas?
Giannis Papas
Wait, is Billy?
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, it says name a white person for a dollar. Like, so funny. But then he did one with Nas and, like, Nas is like the special guest on. And Billy's doing all the things. And Nas, like, on camera on true tv is like, I ain't about any of this, bro. This is corny. Yeah. It ain't for me. And like, they put two Billy on the Streets credit. They put that out as the episode, which I respected that, but I was like, yeah, this is not. That's not. The community doesn't want that.
Giannis Papas
Yeah. You're never going to see the impractical jokers in Brownsville. No, they're not going to do that. Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Ye.
Giannis Papas
There's some YouTube kids who lean into it and they go in there and they get, like, hit.
Chris Distefano
Yeah. And then they then. Well, then they pay. They pay. You know, actors like. Or just approach. Absolutely. Hey, I give you 50 bucks. Act like you're stealing this bike. The seat's going to pop off, and.
Ed Bassmaster
You know, that's annoying.
Chris Distefano
Yeah, yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Because I like that. But. But we could smell the inauthenticity now. Like, your stuff goes well. Authentic.
Chris Distefano
No. And that. Well, yeah. And theirs did so well because the young generation believes they're gullible. They believe anything. They're new to it.
Ed Bassmaster
Interesting.
Chris Distefano
So that new generation, when all those fake pranksters came out. And that's why I don't consider myself a prankster, because I'm not just.
Giannis Papas
No, you do, like, a bit sketches.
Chris Distefano
Almost exactly. Yeah.
Giannis Papas
It's like. It's like. It's like Borat, kind of. You take the character.
Ed Bassmaster
What are you saying? Borat? Why are you giving it, like a French accent?
Giannis Papas
Is it Borat? Borat, Borat. I have made it a little Borat.
Ed Bassmaster
Because you know what it is, because he was in Long island all weekend, so he's trying to because he could feel like the Long Island. So he's trying to get a little bit more sophisticated. So he says, he's saying Borat, but I'm not a Long island scum. So he's going to say Borat.
Chris Distefano
Yeah, yeah.
Giannis Papas
Bora. It's like. Yeah. I'm talking about it like it's a wine. Have you ever thought about doing a movie?
Chris Distefano
Yeah, for sure.
Giannis Papas
Producing your own movie, Putting your money behind the movie.
Chris Distefano
Love to.
Giannis Papas
Yeah. Which characters would you put in there?
Chris Distefano
All of them. Yeah, I, I, I actually wrote a script, you know, probably about five years ago that has all my characters in it.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Chris Distefano
And it starts with my thug character, Testy.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Chris Distefano
Actually it starts with Chip diamond working on a car lot.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Chris Distefano
And then his boss tells him he's got to drive this convertible Cadillac pink Cad from Philly to Miami to deliver to Emilio. They just look at it, guy. And then it's just the travels along the way. The first stop is the gas station to gas up in Philly. And Testy's trying to hustle at the gas station. So Testy and Chip interact and it's pretty wild and it goes on and on.
Giannis Papas
Can you bring up what's the first character? Cuz that one Always testy. Always testy.
Ed Bassmaster
You'd be great. First tires that show tires. Chains.
Chris Distefano
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Oh, dude, one of your characters tires would be awesome.
Chris Distefano
Yeah, I'll hit him up.
Giannis Papas
Right there.
Ed Bassmaster
Always test money for plasma. Always Testy.
Giannis Papas
Yeah. Wait, no.
Ed Bassmaster
What?
Giannis Papas
No, I'm talking about the first character that you said that went viral because I know Emilio.
Chris Distefano
Just look at it. Is the. Just look at it. Just look at it.
Giannis Papas
Yeah, that's the one. Because I know. Testing right there.
Chris Distefano
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
Dude, look at how Jesse Google.
Ed Bassmaster
Just look a toy.
Chris Distefano
Just look a toy.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah. Yeah.
Chris Distefano
Took a wrong turn, pal. Yeah, you're halfway there.
Giannis Papas
Just look a toy.
Chris Distefano
Yeah, that was good.
Giannis Papas
I know this guy.
Chris Distefano
Yeah, that's me.
Giannis Papas
Yeah, I know.
Chris Distefano
Nose. Oh, look at that. That's nice and shiny. Well, it's a 78. Yeah, it's looking good. Looks really good.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, it's got original paint. Such a good hairstyle, bro.
Chris Distefano
This thing before me must have put the thing away and it's Long Island.
Ed Bassmaster
New York garage, every day of its life.
Chris Distefano
Oh, go figure. Look at that. Oh, look at that.
Ed Bassmaster
For 700 bucks, it's real clean.
Chris Distefano
It can work on it. It's the things are not packed real. Right, right, right, right. Consideration, right. You know, I'll show that you'll still do it. Look at this, look at this, look at this. You know, when I see a car like this, first thing I do is I say, would you look at this?
Giannis Papas
You know what I mean?
Chris Distefano
Oh, would you look at this? Would you look at that?
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, there's a few more blemishes on the car.
Chris Distefano
Oh, my gosh. Just look at it.
Ed Bassmaster
The car is not perfect.
Chris Distefano
Just look at it. Just look at it.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Chris Distefano
Well, what the heck is that? That's John Slain. If I could commentate for a second. John Slain. This was totally random. And I'm friends with him to this day. Like, I was just texting him before.
Ed Bassmaster
The guy in the video.
Chris Distefano
I'm friends with him. Yeah, he was a random guy that I stumbled upon and got this viral video. And he's, you know, he's on the spectrum and he's just. He doesn't. You know, I'm one of his clo. I'm his closest friend. Yeah, put it that way. Yeah.
Giannis Papas
So you became friends after this?
Chris Distefano
Oh, yeah, yeah. So he heard about. Heard of it, bit, contacted me, we got in contact and, you know, I kind of look after him, you know, like, you know, he's. I mean, he looks after me too. He's. He's a good conversation.
Giannis Papas
And this ended up getting 44 million views.
Chris Distefano
Well, that's on YouTube. You know, it has over a billion views. That's crazy, because people were sending me this video with 300 million views on Facebook. That wasn't even my page.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, this was the first one.
Giannis Papas
This was the first.
Chris Distefano
This was the first original one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Wow.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, dude. This. And so. So the first original. So your f. But no, but you didn't.
Chris Distefano
Oh, but I already had. Yeah, I already had a million subscribers when I uploaded this, but nobody really knew who I was. Cuz in the beginning When I started YouTube, it was like only a handful of us and we took off.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Chris Distefano
And I had a million subscribers before I filmed this. But when I filmed this, just like.
Ed Bassmaster
I feel like all, like the Nelk Boys and all those guys, like, they kind of. You inspired them.
Chris Distefano
Absolutely. Yeah. I've done stuff with them. Hit me up like back in the, like maybe five, six years ago or more. And I did some stuff with them and.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Giannis Papas
My. A lot of it was just. We were early. I mean, when we did Maurice and panos. That was 15 years ago. More than that. More than that. There was no money in the game then. There was nothing.
Chris Distefano
No, there was nothing.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, see, that's the thing. What? But because now this gets 4 to 4 million views you uploaded today. I mean, you'll make so much money. But back then it wasn't monetized as well.
Chris Distefano
No, but I mean, do they.
Ed Bassmaster
Do they. Do they kind of retroactively, though? Yeah.
Giannis Papas
Good.
Chris Distefano
Yeah. I can go inactive for a few months and still, you know, collected a little check once a month. YouTube.
Ed Bassmaster
Good.
Chris Distefano
But I think that video probably made like 35k, 40k over the 14 years. Yeah.
Giannis Papas
Because the AdSense came later.
Chris Distefano
Yeah, yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Right. Where now, you know, I'm saying now, if you uploaded it today, over the course of the next 15 years, it would make much more money. Sure.
Giannis Papas
Huge. You'd be making. With 44 million views, you just 100 grand. He'd be making a hundred grand. Yeah, Huge. I mean, when we did more recent, it went viral. We. There was zero revenue. There was not. So we decided to do the live shows to make. To make the money. Because there was just. It was just a video that was popular online. There was no money. The whole Internet wasn't monetized.
Ed Bassmaster
I mean, look at the Internet now. The Ed Bassmaster, this great video. And then it's 11 year old's prank ends in felony charge. And that has 15. That's the best master.
Chris Distefano
Inspired by Ed Bassmaster.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah. EWU body cam. This is a real footage of an 11 year old getting a felony charge for a prank. For doing what Ed Bassma. Ed Bassmaster did a couple of years ago.
Chris Distefano
Thank you.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, yeah, yeah. This is, you know, it's just kind of. It just. Sometimes the Internet sucks. But which is awesome.
Giannis Papas
Which one do you think is the most popular character, would you say? Like the one people love the most?
Chris Distefano
So if I walk down the street.
Giannis Papas
Because I thought it was Chip Diamond.
Chris Distefano
Chip diamond, hands down, that sweater is just.
Ed Bassmaster
That's what I was gonna say. Chip Diamond's a guy.
Chris Distefano
I've seen people see it from. See me from a mile away, and it's like it shuts down. Like, we got to shut down so many times. We got to ask people to like.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah.
Chris Distefano
So we always have somebody with us to kind of like, smart. Hold on. He's filming. Wait till. Wait till he's done filming, you know?
Ed Bassmaster
Right.
Chris Distefano
It happens every single time. But.
Ed Bassmaster
But who's. Who's the most famous, would you say? Oh, number one. Sorry.
Chris Distefano
Yeah. As far as the character, but as far as the video, I think the. Just look at it video is the most popular video of mine of all time, hands down. Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
Right, right.
Chris Distefano
Wow.
Giannis Papas
And the last one was a year ago. But you still film?
Chris Distefano
No, no, no. I've put out something recently.
Giannis Papas
Yeah. And how many followers you got by.
Chris Distefano
This point on YouTube? Yeah. 2.8 million.
Giannis Papas
Damn.
Chris Distefano
Hell yeah, baby. My Facebook's like three and a half million, and damn. Couple other platforms.
Ed Bassmaster
Suck my ass. Yeah, tell everyone, dude. Yeah, suck your ass.
Chris Distefano
Suck it.
Giannis Papas
So you got to be making good money there. Just from YouTube now, I mean.
Chris Distefano
No, no. I mean, it's 4 or 5K a month, you know, but it's. It's consistent. It's like, just. But, you know, you're doing merch, you're doing shows, you're doing.
Ed Bassmaster
Hell, yeah.
Chris Distefano
Other things, too.
Giannis Papas
If you wanted more, you'd make more money.
Chris Distefano
Absolutely. And that's getting.
Ed Bassmaster
But that's what he's saying. But he's creatively being who he is.
Chris Distefano
If I put a prank up once a week on YouTube, I could quit everything else. Yeah. I can't commit to that because it's a commitment and it's not. It's like. It's like being like telling an artist, you have to paint this painting. I don't. I just want to paint when I want to paint.
Ed Bassmaster
Were you. Were you like this always, or did you kind of grow into that, like, as you've went through the Internet career?
Chris Distefano
No, I mean, I've gone in and out working with different people. Like, for example, my YouTube channel was acquired by a production company in, like, 2009, I think Maker Studios out in LA, where they would fly me out, they would film and produce content for me, and it was like, you had to. And then it was like.
Ed Bassmaster
You didn't like the way that felt.
Chris Distefano
No, no. And it. And it cheapens your brand and it cheapens you, and. And it waters it down, and it's just, like, too much.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, we feel that way sometimes, to be honest, with podcasting, where you're like, every week you have to have an episode.
Chris Distefano
Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
You know, so sometimes you're like. That's why I think you're starting to see a lot of podcasters, like, only do one or stop them all together or do seasons. That's why, you know, that's why there was never an episode of a television show every weekend for the. All of time. Because they knew you would overexpose themselves.
Chris Distefano
Sure.
Ed Bassmaster
It was 22 episodes. I mean, think about that. The best hit shows of your life, every TV show, the most they ever did was 22 weeks. 22 weeks in a row. And then they would take another 22.
Chris Distefano
Weeks off Gilligan's island three seasons.
Giannis Papas
That's it.
Chris Distefano
That's it.
Giannis Papas
The Honeymooners.
Ed Bassmaster
Wow. That's a good. I never thought of that.
Chris Distefano
Crazy.
Ed Bassmaster
You think that it's got all this. No, three seasons.
Giannis Papas
Honeymooners was only three seasons, too.
Chris Distefano
One of the greatest comedy shows of all time.
Giannis Papas
And it was a bomb when it came out.
Chris Distefano
All in the family. How many?
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, dude, I know that.
Giannis Papas
The Honeymooners was a bomb when it came out.
Ed Bassmaster
So how'd they save it? What happened?
Giannis Papas
No, it got. When they re released, took off.
Ed Bassmaster
Oh, it got canceled, like, immediately. The honey.
Giannis Papas
Three seasons. It kind of bombed. It bombed. It wasn't popular. And then when they released it, like in the 70s or 80s and put.
Chris Distefano
It in, did you know that the Flintstones was based off of them?
Giannis Papas
I did know that. Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah. Those vitamins I take.
Giannis Papas
Have you been approached to do, like, cartoon character voices because.
Chris Distefano
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. As a matter of fact, I pranked in that character mumbles. There. I was in Venice beach about a year and a half ago, and we were. I was just walking around with a guitar, playing guitar and mumbling, you know, busking kind of character thing. And somebody told me to go mess with this guy. That was his house was on the boardwalk in Venice Beach. Real long hair, hippie dude. He's got a long, large crystal staff out there. I don't know if you've seen that video. But I approached him and started with him, and here he is a voice actor. And, like, his name's Greg Sipes. He does Michelangelo Ninja Turtle voice. And he's always for Beast Boy from Teen Titans.
Ed Bassmaster
Oh, wow.
Chris Distefano
So he was who. I pranked that.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah.
Chris Distefano
And he found out after who I was. He didn't know who I was. And he researched, and he was hitting me up. He's like, bro, we got to do something together. So long story short, we worked on a cartoon that never came to fruition, but we did a cartoon where they. Him and his sister and illustration team came up with my characters in cartoon form. I did some voiceover stuff, but then I don't know if they needed money to finish producing it or what. It just never, never, never happened. Wow. Yeah.
Giannis Papas
He's got a nice bag of money doing.
Chris Distefano
Yeah, yeah. He wanted me.
Giannis Papas
Teenage Ninjas.
Chris Distefano
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And Teen Titans is huge. Like. Yeah, he's Beast Boy.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah. You know, we got. You got daughters, Yanni? Yeah, Teen Titans. You know, the kids. And they're little, too. Yeah, I got. I got daughters, too, but I also have a stepson, so he would watch Teen Titans and I Think one of them. Yeah.
Chris Distefano
You know all that stuff. All that good.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Eddie Bassmasters, baby.
Giannis Papas
Cuz, let me just tell you something right now. Do you really think you have to spend big bucks or tons of time in the kitchen to make delicious food at home?
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, I do.
Giannis Papas
Well, you don't.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, you don't.
Giannis Papas
Because with every plate you get restaurant level deliciousness week after week, day after day with recipes like crispy buffalo ranch chicken and cheesy Mexican street corn hat.
Ed Bassmaster
I like that. The cheesy Mexican street corn hash that could stay in this country.
Giannis Papas
Yeah. So whatever. If you're on a date, you got a Mexican girl, you impress her because you got a Mexican coming over, you go, whoa. How do you know? She goes, how do you know how to make cheesy Mexican street cornhaj say? Because I love Mexican people.
Chris Distefano
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
You'll spend less on these flavor packed homemade meals than you would on your normal groceries or at a restaurant. So you got a little more money to buy for booze to get her drunk.
Ed Bassmaster
It's what it is. And then do you want, you really want to just cook the same things over and over again? No. You can up your dinner game in 30 minutes. Minutes or less with every plate's clear, easy to follow recipes. Cuz I'm telling you, the Mexican street corn ash, it's nice. I like to eat it out of people's butts.
Giannis Papas
Yeah. Thanks for sending it to us. It's delicious. Thanks to every plate. They're constantly rotating weekly recipes delivered right to your door. I like it. No friction. Delivered right to your door. You'll always have the best answer to what's for dinner, Mom.
Ed Bassmaster
Because here's the truth. Okay, here's the truth. This is why every plate is really saving. Saving us in many ways. Because if you liked the way the Mexican street corn hash was cooked at your favorite restaurant on the corner, the guy who cooked it's probably got thrown out. So now at least every plate, you can make it at home. Just what it is.
Giannis Papas
So what are you waiting for? Dig into these flavor packed meals your household will love. New customers can enjoy this special offer of only $1.99ameal. Wow. Go to go to everyplate.com podcast. Use the code HYENAS199 to get started. Applied as discount on the first box. Limited time only. Are you on tour now?
Chris Distefano
Yeah, I just was in Canada over the weekend. I'll be. I'm doing a show. One show in North Carolina this Saturday. I don't even know the Name of the club. So I can't push it. But it's. It's actually.
Giannis Papas
You are not good at promotion.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, but that. But. But that means you are an artist, you know, Like.
Chris Distefano
Yeah, I guess, because Tony, the guy that I'm doing the shows with now, Tony Deboss, who's a New York comic.
Ed Bassmaster
Oh, yeah. Tony D. Comedy.
Chris Distefano
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So I'm on a run with him right now, and he's hilarious, by the way. Like, he's great on the road. We're just like, We're a mess, dude. We're like a wrecking ball. But anyway, he's. He knows every single show, every dollar we're supposed to be making. Like, he's so on top of it. We're at these clubs, and after the show, when we're getting our checks, he's grilling the owner like, yeah, this ain't the. This. Nah, this isn't what I agreed to. And I'm, like, in the corner like, come on, Tony, let's go. I'm out in the car waiting for him, dude. Because I don't really, you know, I don't pay attention, bro. People have been ripping me off my whole career, and I don't really care.
Ed Bassmaster
Well, because look like. And look you have. Because some people will say, even me, I could be guilty of, like, well, I got to do this. I got a family, and they got to survive. And it's like, you're here with four kids. Your family's fine. Yeah, everything's fine. You're doing it. Everything. You know, sometimes, too. Somebody said to me, I forgot who said this. Or maybe I heard it. They said, you know, know, obviously, you know, we're in this career only going to live once. Like, do what you want to do. If you get really famous, you got really famous. But like, Sid, sometimes, like, when you have kids, like, and you get really famous, that puts a lot of pressure on your own children. Like, that may not be what's best for your kids, because then your kids may feel like, oh, I'm never going to live up to my famous mom or dad.
Giannis Papas
Well, it sounds like his son's doing pretty good. Got 8 million followers already.
Ed Bassmaster
There he is.
Chris Distefano
8 million views. But still.
Ed Bassmaster
Exactly so, son.
Giannis Papas
So good. But maybe he'll become the Steph Curry to your Del Curry.
Chris Distefano
Maybe. I mean, I don't ever push it or persuade them to do it. Like, if they want to do sports, do sports. None of my kids did sports. I wasn't into sports. Yeah. You know, but so, like, you go.
Ed Bassmaster
On the road and you're not like, I gotta film every second for content at behind the Scenes. You're not doing that.
Chris Distefano
No, it's, it's. And you know, getting back to Tony, who I love. Tony's like my guy. He's so hustling and he's doing a lot of like, when we're going into these cities, he's work, doing videos at these places, you know, and, and he's making, he's making out really well doing it. And he's telling me every day, he's like, ed, listen, you just go on your live and tell him and, and I'm like, tony, you know, I just, I can't work like that.
Ed Bassmaster
I can't listen, Tony, you human cannoli. Why don't you just shut up?
Giannis Papas
Do you know Tony?
Ed Bassmaster
I do know Tony. Do you know Tony?
Giannis Papas
I don't know.
Ed Bassmaster
I don't know Tony D. He's good. He's funny.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah. You've seen him before. He was. You saw. You said hello to him at the stand a couple of weeks ago then.
Giannis Papas
I know him.
Ed Bassmaster
It's just what it is. Yanni's got Yanni's Sundowns. Yes. All early on. Said all.
Chris Distefano
Yeah. Tony looks kind of Italian, kind of Mexican.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah. What is the boss.
Chris Distefano
What's Palestinian?
Giannis Papas
Whoa.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah.
Chris Distefano
He doesn't want anybody to know, but look at that.
Ed Bassmaster
And you support that? No, I'm kidding. That's good.
Chris Distefano
But he's a Christian Palestinian, so he's not t. He, you know, he's not politic. He's just like me. We're like two. Two peas in a pot.
Giannis Papas
He's the best.
Ed Bassmaster
I'm done. Honestly, I. I'm done with the politics too. As long as you did the right thing. This.
Chris Distefano
Well, like 10 years ago, I. I decided and ever since then I've just been happy, dude. I'm happy every single day. And.
Ed Bassmaster
Well, you know what's good too about your career is like, you have your fans. So like there's. You have your, your fans that like really mess with you. You're not like, you're not like a. You're not like institutionally famous. So it's like there's really nothing to take from you. Your fans support you and love you and that. There's a freedom to that.
Chris Distefano
Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
You know, because it's like you go the other route where it's like now you really got to be careful because if not, the New York Times will write an article about you because you, you know, you're on a television show and they. They have their money, and that's like. I don't know if that's the best.
Giannis Papas
Have they had any controversy, anything?
Chris Distefano
No, I mean, they haven't found out anything yet, but they will. They might.
Giannis Papas
On this podcast, have you got any hate for any of the characters or.
Chris Distefano
No, there's two characters. One is the. The Tequila character, Taquila Johnson and the black girl. Yeah, yeah. Latino. Latina. Latina, yeah. And, you know, just from, like, I've had. Had dudes hit me up like, yo, I was a fan. You hate you. I hope you die.
Ed Bassmaster
Oh, yeah.
Chris Distefano
And then I do a character. His name's Timmy, and I play special needs. I. I impersonate a special needs guy. I don't make fun. I represent the community by going out dressed like one and like one. And I show up to construction sites and it's called I work. And like, every live show that I do, people are constantly yelling out, I work. I work. Because people love this retarded character that I play. And I show up to construction sites and just start with the dudes, like.
Ed Bassmaster
Hey, give me hammer, give me hammer. I work.
Chris Distefano
And the dudes are, like, freaking out. Like, no, no, no, no, no. You got to. To go. I'll start climbing ladders and. Yeah, yeah, filming this. You know, I had a guy that was up in a. Up in a. Up in a lift. Cherry picker. And I was, you know, this character go, hey, come down. And he. And he brought the thing down. I said, open up. Give me a ride. And he brought me up.
Ed Bassmaster
Wow.
Chris Distefano
And people had. I have a guy that's, like, been stalking me, threatening to kill me when he sees me for making fun of retarded people. I'm like, bro. My brother was. And he loves the eyewear character. So.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah, that's. Yeah, it comes from a real place.
Chris Distefano
I'm representing the community, if anything, like, yeah, yeah, yes.
Giannis Papas
That comes with the territory. Do comedy. Absolutely. Everyone's always going to be upset.
Chris Distefano
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
There's always going to be somebody upset.
Chris Distefano
If the world learned to just lighten up a little bit and laugh at everything and be able to make fun of each other. Yeah. You know, it's like, if you do an Indian voice, you're racist. No, I'm just impersonating. Somebody's not making fun of them or racist at all.
Ed Bassmaster
And it's like, I'm not doing Indian, I'm doing Pakistani.
Chris Distefano
That's right, buddy.
Ed Bassmaster
That's why.
Giannis Papas
And even if you are making fun of them, it's like, yeah, you're making fun.
Ed Bassmaster
We're like, yeah, okay. And I'm not exactly.
Giannis Papas
Yeah.
Ed Bassmaster
Not Indiana.
Giannis Papas
There's worse things out there than making fun.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah. And it is one of those things too, because when they say, like, don't make fun of voices, what they really mean is don't make fun of non white voices because you can make fun of white people.
Giannis Papas
Do Italian.
Ed Bassmaster
You could do the Italian or the Irish all day. But if one. The minute you do anything outside of that, that's a problem. Well, that's why my Indian voice, I only go with Pakistani because I say, I'm not Indian. I'm Pakistani. And I have nuke. I have nuclear weapon.
Chris Distefano
You are moose.
Ed Bassmaster
Yeah.
Giannis Papas
So, Ed Bassmaster, thanks for coming by.

Giannis Papas
That's because we. It's.
Ed Bassmaster
It's now we've never had one where nobody makes the list.
Giannis Papas
We're in danger right now.
