Learn more@ncsonline.org and right through these doors is what you guys have been waiting for. This is the Elysium. That's it. Something wrong, Jake? No. It's a little, I don't know, underwhelming is all. Why do you say that? Well, it's just a white room with some chairs and, I mean, they look like the chair my dad watches football in. What were you expecting? I don't know, something more extravagant than this, maybe something more technical. I think it's cool. It reminds me of the Matrix or Ready, Player One? Yes. Great example, Emily. Thank you. All right. Now, Jen, you can sit in terminal two, Jake, in terminal three. And I can sit? Yeah, I don't want to mess anything up. Yes, Jen, please take a seat. I promise, nobody will mess anything up. Okay, where was I? Jake, Terminal 3, Adam in Terminal 4 and Emily, in Terminal 5. Why are two seats empty? Yeah. Is anyone else going to be in the other two terminals? Yeah, they should be here any second. So, we have two other students who will be joining you guys. One is part of the tech lab team and the other has experience with the Elysium. I thought it'd be nice if they came along and joined you guys. Almost like a guide. Perfect timing, you guys. Students, this is Miles and Quinn. Hey, guys. Nice to meet you all. Like I said, they're here to help you on the adventure. Why do we need help? I thought this was supposed to be easy. For starters, these simulations aren't difficult. They can be challenging emotionally, mentally, and, hey, sometimes even spiritually. But this new module you guys are doing, this is brand new. You're the first group to officially try it out. With that and your inexperience, we felt it would be best to make sure you're not on your own. All right, Miles, want to tell them how it works? Sure. As I was told my first time in the Elysium, we are ready to begin the connection process. This is where the team will connect you all to the Elysium, especially the Elysium core. This is what really makes it all work. It's what gives you that feeling of reality inside the program. Once you're ready. Quinn and myself will initiate the countdown and we'll be off. Okay. Any questions? I don't really understand what's happening. So basically, you're gonna see and feel everything inside, and you aren't gonna remember. It's not real. What? I had the same reaction, Emily. But trust me, it's gonna be fun. Miles, wanna do the honors? Elysium. Initiate startup seque. Oh, hey, one thing I forgot to tell you guys. You're not all together for this adventure. See if you can find your way back to each other. Wait. What? Wait. This can't be real. Where are we? I don't know. You're joking. Nope. Okay. Okay. Okay. I just need to gather myself for a second. This is a lot. You okay? Yes. Just doing some grounding. This is all pretty overwhelming. Totally cool. Just take your time. So why is it nighttime? I'm not sure. I guess that's just where this program started us off. What do we do? Do we even know what time it is? Nope. Oh, great. It's gonna be fine, I promise. We just need a walk around. I know. We'll bump into someone that will point us in the right direction. Are you sure? Absolutely. Let's walk this way. Quinn, do you have any idea of where we are? My first time in the Elysium, Miles said that's not the question we should be asking. The better question is when are we? Okay, so then when are we? I only know what you know. If it is like the last adventure, we are in biblical times. As far as where we are, somewhere in this village. Where this village is, I have no idea. So not only do we not know where we are, we also don't know when. Yep. How are we supposed to figure anything out? Have neither of you played a video game before? You kind of gotta think of it like that. We have to figure some things out on our own. And how do we do that? We have to look around, walk around, talk to some people, and maybe we'll figure it out that way. Where do we start? Why don't we just start walking through this little town and we'll figure it out from there? What about those people there? What about them? Hey, Are we supposed to talk to you? Emily, stop. That is not how this works. What do you mean? You don't just go shout that to people standing around. Then what do we do? I told you. We have to figure it out. But shouting at Randos is not the way it's going to get done. So what do we see? This looks like the center part of the village. Like a common area? Yeah, There's a well in the middle over there. Maybe we could talk to someone there. Um, excuse me, sir. What do you want? I'm very busy. Oh. How's your evening going, young lady? Stop wasting my time. I thought you said you've done this before. I have. Sure seems like it. So I asked the wrong person. Big deal. Hey, you see that guy standing over there? What guy? Right outside the house, to the left. What about him? He looks like he's crying. What should we do? Why are you both looking at me? Because you're supposed to be our guide. Yeah. Aren't you supposed to tell us what to do or something? I mean, kinda. So what do we do? Do you wanna go and talk to him? Yeah. Let's see what happens. Excuse me, sir. Are you alright? Yes, I'm. I'll be okay. What can I do for you all? We saw you from back there. We wanted to make sure you were okay. I look that bad, huh? No, I think we could just tell something was wrong. Yes, you could say that. It's my wife. She is pregnant. Congratulations. That's great news. It would be great news, except I'm not the father. Northwest Christian School Online provides online Christian education for any students ranging from kindergarten to 10th grade. Like, I can feel that I'm standing, I'm walking. Like I'm actually doing it. What's so funny? Nothing. I was the same way during my first experience in the Elysium. This is nuts. Wanna know the best part? What? Your body is actually sitting down. What do you mean? In the program, you're standing, you're walking around, but in the actual Elysium, you're sitting. What? Remember the chair your dad watches football in? Dude, you did say that. I know I said that, I just. I don't believe it. It all seems so real. What is real? How do you define real? If you're talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then real is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain. Okay, Dr. Freud. It's not. It's from the Matrix. Again with that movie? It's nothing. Forget it. So where are we? I have no idea. It's almost too dark to see anything. The moon barely gives enough light to see. Yeah, but when you look up, it's beautiful. I have no idea where we are, when we are, or what time it is. I think we need to start moving so we can figure out where we're supposed to go and what we're supposed to do. Wait, you said when we are. Does that mean we are in a different era or something? It's possible. How many of these adventures have you done? This is my 10th. Have they all been different whens? Different whens? You know what I mean. No, actually. But knowing the tech lab director, he likes to throw first timers into something way in the past. How far into the past? Like ancient? Like knights and kings ancient? Or Christopher Columbus ancient? Like Old Testament, New Testament ancient? Oh, come on. No way we are that far back. Your first time in the Elysium, when were you, like 30 A.D. or something? Whoa. Yeah. So again, let's get walking. Do you guys hear that? Hear what? Sounds like goats or something. Hey, look out that way. There's a big flock of them on the little hill. Should we go over there? Why not? Adam, do you see anything to the right over there? No, nothing. There's gotta be something around here, right? People just don't leave herds of sheep alone, do they? I wouldn't think so. Besides, who comes near my flock? Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hey. It's. It's okay. You travel in the dead of night? What business do you have here? We mean you no harm. We're travelers from. From far away. We didn't intend to disturb you or your flock. Far away? You're in the middle of the night with no caravan or horses. Only thieves and wolves wander in such darkness. Which are you? I promise, we are neither. We're lost, I suppose. Far from home. We didn't mean to intrude. Really? Where is this Home of yours? What land do you come from? And why do you wander so far? It's hard to explain, but we've traveled a long way. We're not sure how much farther we need to go or if we're even headed in the right direction. Our land is distant, across plains and seas some you may have never heard of. We were on a journey of sorts when we found ourselves here. Distant lands, lost paths, all in the same night. You must take me for a man of faith to believe such nonsense. Call it faith or something beyond us, but maybe we were meant to be here with you tonight. Faith? Yes. This land knows much of faith. You were brought here, but by what? Perhaps the stars guided you. We don't know how to explain it. We were just drawn here for strangers like you to appear in the hills of Bethlehem. There is more at work than wandering. Come closer. There is no malice in these eyes, only curiosity. I sense the Divine is stirring. These are strange times, friend. Our people are waiting for a sign. The prophets speak of great things to come, and yet we who watch the flocks are left with questions. Do you think it mere chance that you find yourself here in these fields? I don't think it's chance. I think we're exactly where we're supposed to be, even if we don't fully understand why. We've traveled through chaos, noise, cities that never sleep, and yet here, it's so quiet. Almost like the world is waiting on something. Yeah. You are not the only one who feels it. I too have felt the weight of the night. It is as if the air itself is thick with anticipation, like heaven is preparing to speak. Young travelers, I do apologize for my temper and alerted caution. If the stars have brought you, perhaps there is more here than any of us know. Please. Your names? I. Miles. Jake. Adam. Very interesting names. It is wonderful to meet you. I am Azariah. Thank you for joining us for Eyewitness. Stay tuned for more thrilling chapters from Northwest Christian School. To learn more about NCS, visit ncsaz.org.
