Emily
Hello? Is anybody there? Where am I?
Jesus
Tell me the last thing you remember.
Emily
I wasn't feeling well, and that's all I can remember.
Jesus
You don't remember anything else?
Emily
No.
Jesus
Emily, you passed out.
Emily
I just don't understand why this is happening. Why now? Why me?
Jesus
You really want to know?
Emily
Yes.
Jesus
You asked for something more. Something beyond the noise. Something real.
Emily
And that's why I'm here.
Jesus
That's why I'm here.
Emily
I don't even know who you are.
Jesus
Sure you do.
Emily
I don't.
Jesus
You can say it.
Emily
Say what?
Jesus
My name.
Emily
I don't. Jesus.
Jesus
It took you long enough.
Dr. Miller
Emily was already critical when she came in. We had to act fast, and I made a call. One that, honestly, I couldn't fully explain at the time. If we had gone the more standard route, we wouldn't have ever seen it. During the procedure, we discovered an aneurysm. The aneurysm is in a difficult location. We'll need to perform a bypass. We're going to take a vein from Emily's arm and use it to reroute blood flow in her brain.
Jesus
Trust that every part of you, even the parts that feel broken or chaotic, will. Will come together to form a masterpiece. And remember, I promised I'd be there every step of the way.
Emily
I'll try my best to trust that promise. If you can see the whole painting, then I guess I should trust you.
Jesus
That's all I ask. Hold on to that trust. In time, the beauty of your story will reveal itself. Until then, lean on me, and together we'll navigate. Every brushstroke, every moment of uncertainty until the full picture shines through.
Emily
Okay, so can you tell me what's going on up there?
Jesus
Sure.
Quinn
I had this friend growing up. Her name was Hannah. When we were 16, she got sick. Whole time, I prayed, truly believing that God would heal her. She died three months later. I stopped praying after that. And then one night, I opened my Bible for the first time in months. I didn't even know what I was looking for. But I landed on Isaiah 43. 2. When you pass through the waters, I will be with You. And when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned. It doesn't say if you pass through the waters. It says when. Because pain is inevitable. Suffering is inevitable. We live in a broken world. But that verse, it's a promise. It's God saying, you won't go through this alone. I will be with you. I will carry you through. Even now, I don't think Emily's alone. I think God's with her.
Emily
But you still don't know what it's like to be powerless.
Jesus
Then let me show you.
Emily
Oh, my gosh. That's.
Jesus
Yes. Tell me what you see.
Emily
I see you on the middle cross. There's a crowd of people watching you, yelling at you. And you. You're just there, taking it. This happened to you?
Jesus
It did.
Dr. Miller
Why?
Jesus
Because I chose it.
Emily
Why? Why would you do that?
Jesus
Because I saw you. I saw you in your worst moments, Emily. I saw you in the nights you thought no one cared. I saw you when you were a child, crying into your pillow, believing you were invisible. I saw you. I took it. I took all of it. Every hurt, every sin, every weight you've ever carried. And I let it die with me.
Quinn
Why me?
Jesus
Because. Because I love you. Okay?
Emily
Yeah. Just thinking.
Jesus
About what?
Emily
Everything. The things you showed me. My mom. Quinn.
Jesus
Quinn? What about Quinn?
Emily
I was so caught up with what my mom was saying that I didn't even focus on who she was saying it to. And while I was sitting here, it just kinda clicked. I've never had consistent friends before, and, I mean, I just met her. So why is she here? I don't mean that like I'm mad or anything. I'm just surprised. I don't really know her. And she was sitting with my mom, waiting for me. Is she still there?
Jesus
She is.
Emily
Wow. I. I don't know what to say to that.
Jesus
Good friends are like that, Emily. Someone like Quinn, she wants to be by your side. I think she saw something change in you and knew.
Emily
Knew what?
Jesus
She knew you needed a friend to guide you.
Emily
Really?
Jesus
Yeah.
Emily
In a weird way, I feel like I've always been waiting for something. I just didn't know what. I guess I always felt like I was searching for something bigger. Like maybe if I just held on long enough, something would change. I just didn't know what I was looking for. Then I found you. I used to think the whole God thing was just rules. Like a checklist. Do this, don't do that, be a good person. Or else. But you're not like that at all, are you?
Jesus
No. I never asked for perfect people. Just willing hearts.
Emily
I guess that explains your choice in friends.
Quinn
Yeah.
Jesus
They were something. Alright.
Emily
What were they like? Were they what you'd expect?
Jesus
Well, that depends.
Narrator
On?
Jesus
Do you expect them to have been incredibly stubborn, competitive, Frequently confused? Let's just say patience was key. I didn't choose them because they were perfect, because they weren't. I chose them because they were willing to learn. Because they got up when they fell. And they let their failures teach them not to find them.
Emily
Did they ever doubt you?
Jesus
A lot. Thomas wouldn't believe I was alive again until he touched my scars. Peter. He denied me three times. They all got scared. They questioned everything. But when they fell, even when they ran, they always found their way back.
Emily
Did you have a favorite?
Jesus
That's not really a fair question.
Emily
Oh, come on. You can tell me.
Jesus
I loved them all. Each was so different and unique. John. John stayed when I was on the cross. And Peter. He had a fire in him. He failed big, but he loved big too.
Emily
Do you miss them?
Jesus
Miss them? I never left them.
Emily
I kind of like knowing that they were kind of a mess.
Jesus
No. Why is that?
Emily
I don't know. Makes me feel like maybe I fit in.
Jesus
You always did.
Emily
You think so?
Jesus
I know so.
Emily
So can you tell me more about what's going on up there with me?
Jesus
Sure.
Dr. Miller
I know the last few hours have been overwhelming, so let me start with the most important thing. Emily is stable. She had a complication, but we caught it and she's doing well.
Mrs. Harper
What exactly happened?
Dr. Miller
A clot had formed which caused swelling in her brain. That swelling put pressure on her optic nerves, which is why her pupils were unresponsive.
Quinn
How did you fix it?
Dr. Miller
We gave her a blood thinner to break up the clot. Once the blockage was cleared, the swelling stopped. Her pupils are reacting again, which is a very good sign.
Mrs. Harper
So she's okay now?
Dr. Miller
Well, she's. She's doing okay. This just means we're going to be watching her even closer.
Mrs. Harper
What happens next?
Dr. Miller
This next phase is careful recovery. We'll be running frequent scans to make sure there's no new clotting and that the vein we grafted continues to function properly.
Quinn
So this isn't over?
Dr. Miller
No, but we're past one of the biggest hurdles. The fact that we caught the clot early and treated it successfully is in our favor. I know this is a lot, but I want you to hear me when I say this. Emily is still here, still fighting.
Mrs. Harper
I just. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. How do I help her?
Dr. Miller
Talk to her. Tell her about your day, about anything familiar. It might seem small, but we know it makes a difference. And I'm sure you haven't stopped, but I'd keep praying if I were you. I have no medical explanation, but I think it's helping.
Quinn
We can do that.
Dr. Miller
Good. While Emily rests, I need you both to take care of yourselves, too. I know that's easier said than done, but she's going to need you strong when she wakes up.
Mrs. Harper
And when she does wake up, what should we expect?
Dr. Miller
It's possible she won't open her eyes right away, but we'll be watching for any small responses. Movement in her fingers, changes in her breathing when she hears a familiar voice. Her body has been through a trauma. Waking up is a process. And some patients need more time than others.
Mrs. Harper
Thank you, Dr. Miller. For everything.
Dr. Miller
It's what we're here for. And we're in this together. I'll be back soon to check on her again. If you need anything, just call for the nurse.
Quinn
So, Mrs. Harper, I really think we should do what Dr. Miller said and take care of ourselves as well. I have an idea.
Mrs. Harper
What's that, Quinn?
Quinn
What if tonight you go get some sleep at home, and I'll stay with Emily tonight, and you can come back sometime before lunch tomorrow. I'm sure it would be nice to sleep in your own bed, right?
Mrs. Harper
I can't ask you to do that.
Quinn
You're not. I'm offering as a friend to both you and Emily.
Mrs. Harper
I really don't want to leave her, though.
Quinn
I'd like to do this. You can give me your number and I can even text your updates if anything happens. Like Dr. Miller said, we need to be strong for when she wakes up. I'll be here. And I'll talk to her all night. She won't be alone. I promise.
Mrs. Harper
You promise you'll call me if anything happens?
Quinn
I promise.
Mrs. Harper
Okay, then.
Jesus
240 million calls are made to 911 every year. 600,000 calls each day. 50,000 calls to 911 report kidnappings. Not every voice is found.
Emily
91 1, what is your emergency?
Quinn
Please, you have to help me, okay?
Emily
I want to help you. What is the address of your emergency?
Quinn
I. I don't know. I've been kidnapped.
Jesus

Quinn
Hey, Emily. It's me, Quinn. I don't know if you remember me or if you can even hear me right now, but I figured I'd just sit here with you for a while, keep you company. It's kind of weird that we've only known each other for, like, what, a day? Few hours, really. And now I'm here talking to you like we've been friends forever. But I don't mind. I guess I just. I don't want you to be alone. I wish I knew what to say. I wish I could tell you for sure that everything's gonna be okay, that you're gonna wake up soon and just feel like yourself again. But the truth is, I don't know. And I have no idea how any of this works. What I do know is that there are a lot of people out there who care about you. Your mom, for one. She hasn't left your side since this whole thing started. And me. I care, too. Even if we only just met, I care. I don't know if you believe in this kind of thing, but I'd like to pray for you, if that's okay. God, I don't really know what I'm doing here. I don't know why it's me sitting here, But I'm grateful that I am. I don't know if I'm asking for the right things. But Emily needs you. I've prayed for healing before. I've begged for it. I've screamed for it, and I've watched it not come. I've watched people I love slip away despite every whispered plea. So part of me wants to hold back, to protect myself. Do not ask for too much just in case I get let down again. That's not faith, is it? So here I am, asking fully, completely. You say you are near the brokenhearted, that you heal the weak. That you will never leave us nor forsake us. Emily is lying in this bed, broken. So I am asking, I am begging for you to bring her back. We want her back. Fully, whole, awake, breathing, on her own. Talking, laughing, living. I am asking you to restore her. To let her open her eyes and know that she is not alone. And if she is afraid, if she can hear me right now, if she can hear you she is scared. Please, please, please give her peace. Be like a shield for her. Let her feel that you're here. I don't know why you brought her into my life. I don't even know why. I feel like I've known her for forever, but I've only known her for a moment. But maybe that's how you work. Maybe you weave people together before they even realize it. Maybe you put me in her life for this moment. To be here when she needs someone to fight for her in prayer. And I am fighting for her. I'm standing in this space, in this room, in this moment in time, asking you to do something. But if this isn't the moment, you wake her up, if your plan is different than mine, help me trust you anyway, because I know you're still good even when I don't understand. But, God, if you're willing, if you're listening, please let her wake up. Not tomorrow, not later, but now. Let her eyes open, let her fingers move. Let something in her body shift that says she's still here, that she's coming back. Ollie.
Jesus
So, Emily, do you want to go back, I mean.
Emily
Yeah, I think so.
Jesus
You think so?
Emily
Well, of course I do. It's just. I'm afraid I won't see you again.
Jesus
Do you think I brought you all this way just to disappear?
Emily
I don't know. I don't want this to be the only time I ever get to talk to you like this, face to face.
Jesus
You don't have to see me to know I'm with you. You called me once and I came. I'll do it again.
Emily
But it won't be like this.
Jesus
No, it won't. But that's kind of the point, isn't it? Faith isn't about seeing. It's about trusting. You don't need to stand in this void to talk to me. You never did.
Emily
It's just easier here. You're right here. I can hear you, see you, feel you. What if I go back and it's all just silence?
Jesus
You won't always hear me the way you do now, but I'll still be speaking. I'll do it. Through people, through moments, through the quiet whispers in your heart. You just have to listen.
Emily
What if I don't? What if I get caught up in everything and forget how?
Jesus
Then choose to remember. Don't wait for faith to be easy. Be consistent with it.
Emily
I want to be. I do. But what if I mess up?
Jesus
You will. But that's okay. You'll get frustrated. You'll question Things. You'll have days where you don't feel me at all. And then you'll have days where you.
Emily
Forget to look great. That's really reassuring.
Jesus
It should be. Because even then, I'll still be with you. Even when you wander. Even when you struggle. I'm not fragile, Emily. Your doubt doesn't scare me, but your faith. It has to be more than just this moment. It has to be more than just an experience you look back on when things get hard. I don't want you to wake up and think of this as something distant. As some distant memory you try to hold on to until it fades.
Emily
Then how do I keep it?
Jesus
You fight for it. You choose it. Every single day.
Emily
What if I fail?
Jesus
Then you start again. That's the beauty of it all. That's the beauty of grace.
Emily
I don't want to say goodbye.
Jesus
Who said you have to? You won't see me like this. Not for a long time. But I will be. In every moment, in every struggle, in every joy. I'll walk with you, Emily. Even when you forget to reach for me. I'll be there. Even when you forget to reach for me. So, you ready?
Emily
Yeah, I'm ready.
Jesus
It'll be okay. I've got you.
Mrs. Harper
How's she been?
Quinn
Steady. I've just been here holding her hand. Emily?
Mrs. Harper
What? What happened?
Quinn
Her finger twitch.
Mrs. Harper
What?
Quinn
It moved again.
Mrs. Harper
Emily?
Quinn
Her eyes are opening.
Mrs. Harper
Emily, it's Mom. I love you so much, baby. Can you hear me?
Quinn
She's blinking. Hey, Am. It's Quinn. It looks like she's trying to say something.
Mrs. Harper
What is it, Emily?
Emily
You never left me.
Jesus
