This is a paid message from GoFundMe. Meet Juan Naula. When his son was hospitalized for a viral infection, Juan started a GoFundMe to pay for medical expenses. It was 5k to pay the bill for my son and I need only 22 hours.
B
It was amazing.
C
People really trust on GoFundMe.
A
How did Juan raise $5,000 in less than a day? He posted a short video on GoFundMe telling his story in 30 seconds. 30 seconds.
C
Be specific, be quick and tell.
A
What are you going to be using the funds for? I was nervous to do it because it doesn't feel okay to ask money. But you shouldn't be nervous. Sometimes you just have to do it
C
and see the results.

We were able to save my son's life thanks to gofundme that we still have my son with us. Before we jump into today's episode, I want to share something close to my heart. Our In Totality Patreon community, the Village. If you ever listen to the podcast and you thought, wow, I really wish there was more. This is exactly why I created this space. You'll receive early access to every episode, so while others are hearing it for the first time, you'll already be watching it and soaking it in. But it's not just that. You'll also get access to the In Totality docuseries, which is like vlog, which shows what I do when I'm not on the podcast. And that's not it. You'll also be the first to know about merch drops, events and opportunities to connect in real life. One of my favorite parts is our Bible study and book clubs where we're walking through scripture together and encouraging one another in the faith. On Patreon, we are building a community that truly desires a relationship with the Lord, pursues truth and supports one another, and I would love for you to be a part of that. So if you want more, come join the village. Patreon. The link is in the description and I can't wait to see you there. Instead of seeing and speaking, see and seek because you're a Christian, I have to consider him in all the things that I do. Like at the end of the day, influencers is a job title now, but for the Christian, it's like we cannot prioritize being an influencer before we're A disciple. This body isn't mine because I have come into a righteous relationship with the Lord. This body now houses the Holy Spirit. And so this body, what I do with this body matters in totality. Those are the most important. Yes is the yes that nobody knows that you have to say yes to. It's those yeses that matter. I consider all the other stuff dung. I mean, doo doo. Like, I consider it all crap in comparison to Christ, but what an answered prayer.
D
Holy Spirit, have your way.
C
Bet.
A
Jordan, you counting down? It's. You don't have to do all that.
B
In 5, 4, 3, 2.
A
What's up, you guys? Welcome back to another episode of In Totality. I'm laughing because Jordan is. Jordan needs. She needs one of those cameras that are just attached. Like, you need a streaming. You need to stream.
B
I would be a good streamer. It would be kind of boring.
A
No, it wouldn't.
C
It would be good.
B
It would.
A
It would be good, Jordan.
C
Entertaining.
B
It's not every second that I'm doing something else. So it's like, what if somebody.
A
But you are, though? Because. Okay, so on the smile. On today's segment and episode of. What did Jordan say the other day? We are at. Or this is two weeks ago. Because this is Jonah's graduation, and this is what I'm saying. I know Jordan said these things out loud. So if she had a camera on her, it would make things very. Like, she would be very entertaining. She's on the way to Jonah's school. Jonah graduated from elementary, and so Jay and I. Well, Jay drove separate. I drove separate. We all meet at the school, and we're waiting in. In the car, waiting for them to open the doors to let us in. Jordan comes and she says, y' all want to know what I did? And we're like, what did you do? And she was like, did you text us or did you.
B
I text y'.
C
All.
B
I text y' all and told y' all the process that just happened. So I didn't ask y'. All. I was just letting y' all know, like, what I just did. Like, I was riding past a subdivision that said Fort Worth.
A
Foxworth.
B
Foxworth. And in my head, I'm driving past
A
mostly the whole thing. What did you say?
B
You want me to tell the story of what I told you?
A
No, Tell the story.
B
So I'm driving, and I see a subdivision, and it says Foxworth. And I'm in the car by myself. So I'm just driving, and I'm looking. I'm like, oh. And we out In Cobb County. So I'm like, hmm, that's interesting. They got. They got a subdivision dedicated to.
D
Dedicated.
A
It's de. It's a subdivision in. It's a subdivision in Cobb County. We not gonna tell y' all specifically where we live, but there's a sub. Jordan believed that there was a subdivision in Cobb county dedicated to Foxworth Bentley. She thought Fonzworth Bentley was Foxworth Bentley. She saw foxworth and decided it was Fonzworth.
B
Yeah.
A
And that there was a subdivision dedicated to that man.
B
Yeah. I didn't decide that it was Fonzworth. I couldn't think of what it was, so I was like, oh, then maybe it is Foxworth. Because it's like, that's not a common name.
A
It would be one thing. It would be one thing if it said, like, foxworthy Bentley. Like, you know what I mean? But you just saw fox. That's all you saw in your brain. You heard, like, you. In your mind, you said, foxworth, and your brain said, hmm, that sounds familiar.
B
Yeah.
A
Foxworth Bentley. Fonzworth Bentley. And this is the thing with Jordan. She is a context clue. Like, she hears one thing and doesn't think it all the way through. She just immediately is like, whatever. The first thing that comes to her brain.
D
That's what would make the stream entertaining. If you. If the streamers could get the filter off of your brain and your intrusive thoughts.
A
That's because. Did you say it out loud? Like, in the car? Were you talking out loud?
B
This is all mental. Yeah. And then I googled it, and I said, wow, let me tell Megan and j. Who I thought this man was Boxworth.
A
The fact that you would think that Fonzworth Bentley would have a subdivision.
C
The subdivision is what I have questions about. I'm like, subdivision of what?
A
Like a house. Like a house subdivision.
D
Like a neighborhood.
A
Nicole says, oh, okay. Yes.
B
I mean, I wouldn't think that he had one either, but I'm like, it's right here, so I can't see it.
D
I'm looking right at it.
B
I'm looking right.
A
This is the entertain. Like, Jordan genuinely entertains us throughout the day.
D
She says the darndest thing.
C
Innocence. It's the innocence.
A
It's not. I mean, it is, but Jordyn is. She's a special person.
B
Yeah. I'm impulsive or intrusive, that's for sure.
D
With confidence.
B
I was.
A
The confidence. She said something when we were on our way to Seattle. I can't remember. Maybe I'll save it for the next segment of what did Jordan say Anyway? Jordan is very funny. I think she should start a twitch. I think it would be great. I would be happy to do it. I would be happy to support that.
B
I'll just post on my story.
D
Let us know in the comments what y' all think.
B
Twitch is just too much, like. Cause it's like when I have my down moments, it just comes. So it's like people are gonna be watching.
A
Like when I'm down, you're just waiting down moments. What do you mean?
B
Like when I'm just quiet like. Or like I don't have everything that come out of my mouth isn't funny.
A
I mean, It's. It's like 90% and it happens in
B
conversation or stuff has to be going on. I'm just not like a sitting joke.
E
Right?
A
I think it would be. I think it would be interesting if we did a household one. Like if there were.
B
Oh, yeah, just hot cams. You know what I'm saying? Hot cams is crazy.
A
Yeah, I think that would be good. Maybe.
B
Yeah. Something that only Patreon, maybe not. I don't know.
A
We would probably get in some trouble.
B
But yeah, I mean, it would only be for Patreon for sure. I'll do a twitch for Patreon.
A
You would?
B
I'll go live with them, but all day. Not every day, but I can do a special occasion in the summer.
A
Do the streamers stream all, like 24
B
hours or do they have 24 hour streams? Like, that's what people try to, you know, get on. Like whether they take it to the store and stuff like that. But you got to have like the setup because who's walking around like this?
A
I can see you doing that, though.
B
My arm be hurting. I really be like, how do people vlog their whole life after the first store? And like how we tried to. We should post that of us going to Target. All we did was make.
A
I know, but I'm saying we literally recorded ourselves walking in and got in the store and decided that only took
B
20 minutes to get out the car, set the phone up, get back in the car, find the parking spot, get out the car, get the phone, put the phone on the window, get the buggy, then get the phone. Can we get to what I need?
A
Yeah. I actually came here for something and people who do all that, like, they. They film themselves, set the tripod up
D
to pull into the parking spot, get
B
out, get in the car to drive past.
A
And I. And maybe it's a pride thing in me. Like maybe That' the a pro. Like, no, seriously, cuz, like, I'm. You're not about to catch me doing all that. You know what I'm saying? You know how crazy that looks to, like, get out of your car, set a tripod up, get back in your car, get in the parking spot.
B
Crazy. It's making a 20 minute quick trip an hour.
A
Yeah.
B
All of that. Okay. Cuz once you get out the car, you set the phone up, get in the car, drive. And then some people do different angles of them driving to the same parking stuff.
C
Yes.
A
At this point, it's a music video
D
to give you benefit of different takes. Yes, yes.
B
It's like, so did you come for rice or not? Because that's what I saw you check out. And I'm just like. You did, like, in there to record what you made for dinner. Like, spend the day in the.
C
Yeah.
A
Okay. Let me ask.
D
To give you benefit of the doubt, though, for it not just being pride, I think it's also that y' all have had access to somebody doing all these things. Cause you've seen, y' all will watch me set up a tripod and do some things with no burger.
A
You ain't never done all that.
B
Yes. It's one thing to have somebody record it for you, but you look a fool doing it yourself.
A
That's what I'm saying. The pride of doing it myself, I could not imagine.
B
It's like, jay, just stand outside and record us. Park and record us walk into the store. I'm not getting in and out my car.
A
Well, I don't know, because if I saw somebody doing that, there's a part of me that's like. It's a little goofy, but then there's a part of me that's like, yeah, bravo, bravo.
B
Couldn't be me.
A
Wouldn't be. Wouldn't be me.
C
Yeah.
A
Wouldn't be me. Okay, now, I do have a question. How do y' all feel about people who do that when it comes to, like, praying?
C
Yeah.
B
I don't think it's genuine.
D
You went straight.
C
No, I'm. Listen, for my birthday last year, my cousin called me and she prayed, right? And I had this moment where I was like. I was like. Cause then it went into, like, worship and genuinely, like, tears started flowing. Like it was a thing. And I had this moment where I was like, it would be cool to actually capture this.
A
Yeah.
C
And immediately I was like. I was like.
B
And it's.
A
And again, because we've had. Jay. It's one thing where you're Genuinely, genuinely. Just naturally capturing things.
C
But now I'm leaving this, the state that I'm in.
A
It take. I don't know, maybe. And maybe I'm. I'm cool to be corrected. And I'm not trying to be, like, judgmental or anything like that or like, condemning people for doing that, but it's like, it just didn't feel good. It's like some sort of compartmentalization to take yourself out of the spirit in a way to let me make sure the angle is right and do you know what I mean? I just feel like. I feel like
B
it's intimacy for a reason.
A
Yes. I'm just like, if you wouldn't put cameras in.
C
Yeah.
A
As if a husband and a wife wouldn't put cameras in their bedroom while they're being intimate. I just don't think that a camera belongs in that intimate space with the Lord. And I'm not saying somebody happening just so happens to capture something that is genuine and authentic, but it's like, yeah,
C
but that was for my personal keepsake. It wasn't even supposed. It. It was just like, no, for sure.
A
And I get that. I have had times like that where I'm like, man, I wish. I wish Jay was here to record this right now. Or, you know, like, I wish I could capture that moment. I. I get that. And I don't. I don't think that's sinful to have that thought, to be like, man, I wish I can take this moment to remember it and all the things. But I think, like you said, it's like, there's premeditated thing where it's like, I.
B
And.
A
And then it. My question would be, what is the heart posture behind it? Like, is it to glorify yourself in the sense of, look at me praying, look at me doing this, look at me. Da, da, da, da, da. Or is it to, you know, glorify the Lord and. And. And maybe encourage people to pray or to worship?
B
Because that's definitely. I'm definitely not the person. But before, I don't think. I really don't care. But, like, I made the video when we prayed blameless. The dancers, however, that wasn't one of them moments, but it was definitely a moment to show, like, that even dancers, like, are just as involved with God's words.
A
Yeah, but that was a corporate thing. Yeah.
B
In a sense, I'm just covering my bases. In a sense that I'm not for it. But, like, yeah, you will go on my Instagram and see us praying as a group. I think that's different, but, like, to be in your prayer corner and set your phone up. Like, it's people that say they leave their phone in another room when they're, like, spending time with the Lord. So to sit your phone up and record and sleep, and then you stop it, and then you look and then you post it, and then you cut it, and then you put filters on it, and then cut it and put filters. You put music behind it.
C
It's like.
A
And again, if you. If you are in a. If you're in a position where it's like, I don't know, you might have cameras in your house, and maybe you just happen. The camera just happened to catch a moment where you're like, this moment meant something to me. This is like, I met the Lord in this moment. He showed me this in this moment, you know what I'm saying? Where it's like an impactful thing that you want to share, that's fine. But I think when it's like. I don't know, like you said, I think that's a great example. It's like it's intimacy for a reason. You know what I mean? Everything that happens with you and the Lord and every moment that happens with you and the Lord doesn't need to be shared all the time. And I'm gonna go further and say, not just visually, but even the things that we experience with the Lord that we communicate publicly, you know what I'm saying? I've had to learn that. I have always been disciplined in that.
B
Prophetic gifts.
A
Well, just like things that. Yeah, like, you know, you have this moment with the Lord, and He reveals things to you, and you immediately can't wait to jump online to tell everybody that you had this intimate moment with the Lord. And I did. Da, da, da, da. And it's like, where's the church? I can understand being excited about moments like that, and I've had those moments, but I don't think all your moments need to be shared. You know what I mean? Some stuff really is between you and
B
the Lord, you and the Lord.
A
And sometimes stuff that He. He allows you to experience also needs to be developed. And so it's like, yeah, maybe the Lord revealed some stuff to you in this moment, in this intimate time, in this precious moment that you had with the Lord. But that doesn't mean, like, maybe He. He revealed things to you, and he wants to develop you in some areas so that you g. Experience, so that you gain some wisdom, and then he might release you to share it. But I think that we also need to be very mindful of. Because, because I believe we know in scripture it's like we're going to take an account for everything we do, right? And so I think that there's a way in which we should move with caution when, when we are doing all this stuff publicly, do you know what I'm saying? And, and publicly talking about our relationship with the Lord, it's like we should be mindful and, and still have a heart posture and the hum the Lord. Lord, I. I want to post this. I want to share this. I want to share with everyone what you shared with me. How do you feel about that? Do you want me to share that? Or is this something that I just need to sit on and digest and, and you know, chew up a little bit more, you know what I'm saying? Like, I, I just don't think everything. And I know that's a temptation that I have for sure. It's like when I have a really impactful, intimate moment with the Lord, I can't wait to talk about it or share it. And I've just learned, and still learning that like everything that God reveals to you doesn't need to immediately be, you know what I'm saying? And it's like when you look. And when you look at like, I don't know, just reading in, in the Old Testament and just reading how like prophets would move, it was like. And the Lord sent them, you know what I'm saying? And the Lord sent them and the Lord told him to say, you know what I'm. They weren't just saying stuff that they not real prophets. They weren't just saying whatever they wanted to say. They were saying what the Lord told them to say. They were doing what the Lord told them to do, not just what they felt.
C
How did your mom say that?
B
I was just going to say that. Honey is a person that believes that for sure. Yeah.
C
She would say, like sometimes, you know, the Lord may in prayer, you know, reveal something to her. And it's not always go tell them. It's sometimes, you know, you gotta sit on it. There's a.
A
When I remember a few years ago, the Lord convicted me about something specifically regarding, like speaking too soon. And I think that for, for people who God has gifted, maybe like specific sensitivity or maybe even you, maybe you have a prophetic gift, you know what I mean? Or you like people who can just sense and see things. Right? The gifts come without repentance, right? So like, if the Lord gifted you that, then he gifted you that and so. But I've learned in Christ that. And I remember the Lord telling me like. Or I sensed. I felt like the Lord was saying, like, everything that I show you and everything that you see isn't licensed for you to speak. Like, they're like, you have to humble and submit yourself to the things that God is showing you. And speak when he tells you to speak, not when you feel like, speak. Like, just because you see it doesn't mean you say it. You know what I mean? It's like, instead of seeing and speaking, see and seek. Like, I'm going to see something and I'm going to seek the Lord about what I'm seeing, and then I'm going to humble myself and ask him, lord, what do you want me to do with what you've allowed me to see?
B
Right.
A
You know what I'm saying? Instead of being so quick to just say things, you know what I mean? Or do things like, oh, I had this moment with the Lord. Let me just post it. But it's like, did you. Did you pause and consider? Right. Scripture says, consider him in all of your ways. So it's like, even when we're trying to be creative as influencers and podcasters and this or whatever, it's like, are we really considering the Lord before we do what feels like a normal thing of just social media? Like, oh, I'm just gonna post this. It's no big deal. But it's like, no, because you're a Christian, everything you do is a big deal. Because you're a Christian, everything you do has to be considered through Him. Like, we. I have to consider him in all the things that I do. So how I post, how I talk, the conversations that I have, the decisions that I make, all of that needs to be filtered through prayer and filtered through seeking the Lord first. You know what I'm saying? Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all his righteousness, and everything will be added. Seeky first, though. Yeah, you have to seek him and get his wisdom. Because if not, you just. You're just moving on your own. Whatever.
C
I feel like that's something that I still, like, struggle with. Where I'm like, what is. Where's the line with posting? Because, like, I already don't really post as. As, you know, as it is. But it's like, I don't know. It's like the people that are following me are, like, so random. It's like people from high school. Like, it's like all people that I actually know. So I just. I don't know, I just kind of post my, like my intrusive thoughts. You know what I mean? Like, it's all very random.
A
And I mean, okay, can we just talk about something for a second? We live in a world where you can get almost anything instantly. A car to your door in minutes, groceries delivered in an hour. But your paycheck that you have to wait on. Money already worked for, already earned. And somehow the deal we just all accepted is that we have to wait days or weeks to actually have it. That has always felt a little off to me. Earn it is a financial technology company, not a bank, and they've been fixing that for over a decade. The concept is simple. What's up you guys? This episode is sponsored by Better Help. Listen, can we talk about summer for a second? Because I think there are people who absolutely thrive this time of year and then there are some who are white knuckling until September. And both of those experiences are valid. For me. Summer has always required some level of intentionality. The structure I rely on loosens up, things get busier in a different way. Travel picks up up, kids are out of school, and adventure seems to be the focus. And if I'm not paying attention, I can get to the end of August feeling like I didn't rest at all. The thing I keep coming back to is that it takes knowing yourself well enough to know what you actually need and feeling confident enough to make space for those needs. That's honestly some of the most valuable work therapy can do, not just for hard moments, but for learning how to build a life that actually feels light and doable. BetterHelp is the world's largest online therapy platform. Over 30,000 licensed therapists, more than 6 million people served, and a 4.9 out of 5 ratings across 1.7 million client reviews. You fill out a short questionnaire. They'll match you with a therapist, and if it's not the right fit, you can switch. It's built around making it easy to actually show up for yourself. Like, I'm not saying you gotta not be able to have fun and you know what I'm saying or whatever, but I'm saying, is there a heart posture that's like, I'm a witness first? Yeah, Like, I'm just. I'm just not going to post whatever I want to post and okay, I'll flow into the direction of Jordan. I. I know that there have been times where I have just impulsively posted whatever I felt like posting. You know what I mean? Whether it was out of being ornery or whether it's out of being petty or being, you know, or whatever. Like, I've just, I felt something I posted. And we have to start looking at every decision that we make, all the act, all of our actions and being like, okay, but was that pleasing to the Lord? Believe it or not, there are some believers in the Christian faith who spend years thinking that they're broken or failing God because they're struggling with unwanted, distressing thoughts. But this isn't a spiritual failure. These thoughts could be due to a common but overlooked condition. Ocd. I'm talking about thoughts that interrupt worship. Like, am I praying right? Will God forgive me if I make a mistake in my prayer? I need to start over. I need to do it perfectly this time. Or maybe a blasphemous image that pops into your head that makes you feel like you sin just for thinking it. Unwanted thoughts like these can be a sign of a type of religious ocd, also known as scrupulosity. Ocd. It's a form of OCD that can turn your faith into a source of constant guilt, doubt, and fear. But because the condition is still widely misunderstood, a lot of people don't even know that it can show up in this way or even that it can center around their faith. But OCD isn't just about being neat or organized like most stereotypes suggest. OCD latches on to what you care about most, causing a cycle of distressing, intrusive thoughts and behaviors done to get rid of the anxiety they create, like praying until it feels just right or trying to solve or figure out your thoughts. But any relief of these type of behaviors is short lived. So the cycle begins again. Many people silently struggle with religious ocd, thinking it's some sort of personal failure or lack of faith, where that may not be the case. It's a common type of OCD and highly treatable with the right kind of specialized therapy. And that's where no CD comes in. No CD is the world's leading OCD treatment provider. All of these licensed therapists are trained in ERP or exposure and response prevention therapy, the most effective treatment for ocd. No CD therapists deeply understand ocd, so they know that these thoughts don't mean anything about you. In live virtual sessions, they'll help you break free from OCD's grip while honoring your faith so you can get back to focusing on what matters the most. No CD is covered by insurance for over 155 million Americans, and they provide support between sessions. So you're never going at this alone. Yeah, like, I know you might have not, you know, whatever. Maybe you didn't think it was that big of a deal, but like, was it pleasing to him, you know what I'm saying? And there was the whole debacle the other day on threads and all this stuff and lots of opinions and people and criticisms and stuff like that. Not regarding me, but regarding somebody else. But it's like, are we pausing even when it comes to people who are attacking you, are we pausing to say, lord, how do you want me to respond? Or are we saying, oh, bet you come for me, I' ma come for you, you know what I'm saying? I just think that we need to be mindful and cautious about how we are walking this thing out and know that every action is going to be accounted for. And I just, I just think, I don't know, I, I, I feel sensitive to this. I, because social media is such a big deal and it's such a, you know what I'm saying? It's people's livelihood. Like, at the end of the day, influencers is a job title now. You know what I mean? Like, that's a, that's a whole thing. And so, but for the Christian, it's like we cannot prioritize being an influencer before we're a disciple. You know what I mean? I can't prioritize being an influencer before I prioritize being a follower of Christ. And so everything that I do, it has to come from the foundation of first, I'm a Christian. And so how I move in social media, how I move in my job, how I move in my creativity, creativeness and all the things I do that with him in mind, what is pleasing to him?
D
Not to the algorithm.
A
Not to the algorithm. Not to the algorithm.
B
And that's the thing. If you're gonna choose that to be your profession and be a Christian, I think that's fine. But you also have to be aware of what you are actually doing, because it's not. You can be an influencer and you make Christianity fit into that. It's like, no, there might be some stuff that you actually can't post. So when you weigh the pros and the cons, it's not, oh, well, this is bringing me money, so I'm gonna have to give a little. When it comes to my faith, it's like, nah. Like, once you become a Christian, that is the stamp. So it don't matter. Your color, your career, your past, your future, your ambition, none of that. But I definitely think in the social media age, yeah, it's okay to be both. And because social media is a societal thing and Christianity isn't a societal thing, it's like, because this is my job, I'm gonna have to bend a little. But kind of like the Lord get it and it'. That's not how that work. You should pick another career then, because it just don't go that well.
A
Because if it's going to compromise your relationship with the Lord, then it ain't worth it.
B
Just because it's trending, it's not worth it.
D
Trends can't be the moral compass.
A
Correct.
C
This actually just. I just came across this type of scenario with someone that I follow who does fitness content. And I've always just been very drawn to her content. There's just something about her. But I didn't know that she was Christian until recently. And she posted something one day and it was like, from, from me even seeing it, it was like, I was like, taken aback.
A
Yeah.
C
But I still was like, okay. Like, I still took the information, but it was like, strange. And then the next day she posted and was like. She was like saying thank you to her close people. And she was like, I got. I strayed away from what the Lord actually called me to do. I had no idea that even Christian. And she was like, you know, she was just like, yeah, you know, I, I haven't been, you know, being modest and like, she, you know, naming, you know, all of the spiritual disciplines that she's been just like, ignoring. And I was just like, I couldn't. I didn't. I literally had no idea that she was even a Christian creator.
B
Yeah.
C
You know, and like, yeah, like, ever since that post, like, now, like, she posted, like, worshiping in church and like, getting back to, like, what it is that she's saying, like the Lord appointed her to do. I've been following her for at least, like, eight months. I had no idea.
A
Yeah.
C
You know what I mean?
A
So. And I don't think. I don't think that because you are whatever your career is, whether it's a influence, whatever. I'm not saying that you have to, like, be walk around with, like, this pin on your chest like, I am a Christian and like, it has to be this, this. But it's like, also, but the fruit of the spirit should be evident. Right? So it's like, what? Okay, so maybe I'm a workout person. Maybe I'm a fitness influencer. That's cool. That doesn't mean that I have to be seductive in the way that I approach that my content. It doesn't mean that I have to wear super. You know what I mean? Like, at least I think there's a way that you can still do and be creative, but still honoring to the Lord. And if you are having a hard time finding that balance, then it might be something that you need to sacrifice until you're mature enough to hear from the Lord to get the balance. Do you understand what I'm saying? It's like, I. I'm not saying that every single post or every single time you post something, it needs to be Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. Yeah, you know what I mean? Even though I don't think there's anything wrong with every post saying, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. But I'm saying if you have a true intimate relationship with the Lord and you've allowed him into your heart, the fruit will be evident. You wouldn't want to do certain things that make it seem like, are you a Christian or are you not? You would want to do things that make it very clear I'm a Christian
B
or at any point, even if you do, because I feel like we have times like this all the time, which is why close friends and just having personal friends, so you don't feel like you always have to go to social media for stuff. But that's why that's important, because it's like some people, it's gone.
A
She said, you remember when you said, shut up that part.
C
No, but in this case, this creator, she actually was, like, tearing someone else down. Like, she posted another person, like another, you know, fitness creator and was like. And. And posted her face and everything. And it was. That's why it was just like, but
A
that was like, but that's good. If the Lord convicted her and she's changing that, like, and that. And sometimes even, even that is fruit. That the Lord has done something in your heart when you even have the humility, especially publicly. Yeah. To be like, I've been wrong. I shouldn't have been doing this.
B
Totally.
A
I've. I've. I'm changing. Like, the Lord is changing me and convicting me. And so my content is about to look different.
B
Right.
A
I think that that's admirable. And I think that that's. That's beautiful when we see stuff like that, like, because the Lord. The Lord is so kind and sovereign and faithful that even when we make mistakes, he can still, like, he can still use that mistake and bring glory to his name and also show that he's changed us. You know what I mean? And I think that that's a beautiful thing. But I think I just. I guess just looking at social media objectively, I felt like just to pause and not warn, because it's not necessarily a warning, but just encourage people to be like, hey, think about who it is that you represent. When you say that I'm a Christian, you know what I mean? And whether you have publicly said it or not, depending on what your content is, whether you've publicly professed that you're a Christian or not, there should be fruit and evidence if you are. You know what I mean? And that shows up in a particular way. When you love him, when you really know that he loves you and you love him in return, then you have a life and a heart posture to do whatever it is that is pleasing to him. And that's the whole thing of being a living sacrifice. It's like, this body isn't mine. Do you know what I'm saying? I have now because I have come into a righteous relationship with the Lord. Right? This body now houses the Holy Spirit. And so this body, what I do with this body matters in totality. Like, everything that I do matters. It matters what I post, what I say, what I repost, what I like, what I watch. All of it matters.
C
Yeah.
A
And I. And it's like, like I feel like. And I. I probably will talk about this for a while, just in different ways, but, like, I truly do feel like the Lord is. Is intensely maturing everybody in this season. And it's like, whatever you claim that you believe, whatever you claim to believe, it's like, no bet. Like, like prove that. If you really believe it, live it. Do you know what I'm saying it's not just enough to say that we believe it, but the Lord is looking for us to live that out.
C
Yeah.
D
That.
A
That's the evidence of the faith. It's just living it out.
D
Yeah. It authenticates the faith for sure.
A
Yes. It's not. We can't just say all these things but not truly live it. I can't say, oh, I love the Lord. I'm totally surrendered. But then privately he's telling me to do specific things, and I'm just like, you know, but I'll make sure I post my scripture so it looks like I'm like, I've lived a surrendered life.
C
Yeah.
A
But it's the things that are done behind the scenes. It's the things that nobody sees those are the most important. Yes. Is the yes that nobody knows that you have to say yes to. It's those yeses that matter.
D
Social media is the outside of the cuz the life that you live is the inside of the cup.
A
Yeah. And we should look at social media as a tool. Like, I'm not just a tool to bring glory to the Lord. A tool to draw people to the Lord to get to know Him. You know, like, we should use that as a tool to glorify him and not just use it for selfish gain.
D
For sure. Testify about what he's done as far as just his work in your. In your life.
A
Yes. And I just think the way that we move in social media just needs to be. Be more mindful.
B
Yeah.
A
Of that. Do you know what I mean? Because, like, again, and we talked about it on this episode before, I truly believe, for our generation and going forward, we're gonna stand in front of the Lord and it's gonna be like, you
C
know,
A
you remember for sure this post that pose this, like, yikes. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. I just think it matters. It matters. It matters how we publicly represent the Lord, but I think how we publicly do it is also in it indicative to how we are privately.
D
Sure.
B
Yeah.
D
Footprint is actually a glimpse into your spiritual footprint.
A
Yeah.
D
It plays a part.
A
It plays a huge part.
D
Yeah.
A
It plays a huge role.
D
Yeah.
A
And again, if you are genuinely seeking the Lord genuinely. And you're genuinely abiding in his love. Genuinely. Right. And you delight in him and you delight in His Word. The fruit of that will be evident. You know what I mean? And there and again, it is no shame. No. No shade, no shame, no condemnation, because the Lord is kind, like I said, even in our mistakes. And I don't think it's bad. Like, I was thinking about that. I was thinking about that quote from Devil Wears Prada too. And and hopefully by now you've seen it. So if you haven't seen it, spoiler alert. It's actually not a spoiler alert. Because it's just something she says in the car. But it's really not a spoiler. But anyway, Miranda is in the car with Andy.
B
Oh.
A
And Andy has an opportunity to write a book about Miranda. Who is the head editor of Runway magazine.
B
Right.
A
And Andy has the opportunity to write a book about Miranda. And they want her to write, like, kind of like,
C
tell.
A
Like a tell all. Kind of like, you know, telling all of the bad parts about Miranda and all the other stuff. Right. Right. And so they're in the car, and Miranda knows about this book. And she's like, you know, you should write the book. And Andy's kind of shocked because she's like, how did you know? Like, how did you know I have to write you whatever. And Miranda's like, keep all the stuff in it. Keep all the bad stuff. Me not making it to all of my kids recitals. Me not me having three husbands. You know, like, she was just like. Basically put all the stuff in there. She was like. Because people need to see the sacrifice. And that made me think about the Christian walk.
D
Yeah.
A
And how we try to be so perfect in certain ways. And I. I know I'm guilty of this. Of trying to be really careful. Not caution, not cautious, but, like, careful. Like, yeah, I'm trying to be really careful. Because I don't want to make mistakes. And I don't. But it's like, no. People need to see even the mistakes. You know what I mean? Like, if if we didn't have God. I wouldn't know where we would be if we didn't have Psalms 51. Do you understand what I'm saying? Like, good Lord. It was David's sin that allowed us to have Psalms 51. And so the Lord will use it if he has a if he has a vessel or a heart. That is fully surrendered and submitted to him. Or have a heart that's after God's heart. Like, he'll use that, even the mistakes. He'.
B
Yeah.
A
And so that's one angle of it as far as the mistakes. But even the sacrifice, it's like, let's not shy away from what it actually costs to follow Christ. It costs something. It costs you everything. And we should not shy away from what it costs. You know what I mean? I think there are. I Think that there are times, if the Lord leads you, where you can share that part on social media, where it's like, no, like, I had to put this down.
C
Yeah.
A
Because that's how serious I am about the Lord. No, I actually had to step away from my platform because I'm that serious about my. My relationship with him, where. Where if it cost me money and followers and subscribers and opportunities, I'm cool with that because he's my glory. But when social media is your glory, or when platforms are your glory, or when marriage is your glory, or kids are your glory, or friendship is your glory, or whatever it is, when that becomes your glory, then that becomes your focus. But when he's your glory, then. Then he's the focus. And whatever it is that he's requiring you to put down, you're happy to do it. Because he's my glory. He's what I want the most. So if I have to walk away from relationships and opportunities and finances and whatever, if he is requiring that of me and that's what he wants me to do because he's my glory, I'm happy to do that. Doesn't mean it's comfortable, doesn't mean it's easy. But because he's my glory, it's an easy yes. That yes may not be easy to walk out, but it's easy to respond to, because he's my glory. And that is cultivated over time of intimacy with Him. Do you know what I mean? That takes time.
D
Because that intimacy develops reverence. Yes, I revere you over anything else that can be offered in this world.
A
Yes.
D
I revere you over anything that can be seen as valuable in this world. Because you're greater.
B
Yeah.
D
My closeness and my intimacy with you is greater than all of those things.
A
Yeah. But if you don't have. And this is why my mom, she always prays. She always says, like, I always pray that people would have a true encounter with the Lord. Like that Isaiah 6 moment. Because when you do have those moments and you really see him for who he really like, he reveals himself to you, whether through scripture or prayer, or there's a supernatural encounter that you had. Like when you really see the Lord, you're like, oh, my goodness. Like, wow.
D
It's all.
B
Yeah, for sure.
A
It's literally awe. You're just like, wow.
B
Yeah.
A
And you love me. You want me. You want a relationship with me. You care for me. You, the one that I'm in so in awe of right now. You love me.
B
Yeah.
A
There's, like. When you have that type of moment. There's really nothing that he can ask you for that you just wouldn't do.
D
I think Peter said, depart from me. He tried to tell Jesus to get away from me. I'm a sinful man.
A
Yeah.
D
But he, you know, all he asked me to do is follow him. And he will gladly do that because again, I have seen you.
A
Yeah. And that's what I'm saying. You start to look at when. When Paul talks about. Like I consider all the other stuff.
D
Dung.
A
I mean, doo doo, garbage. Right. Like I consider it all crap in comparison to Christ.
D
Yeah.
A
Do you know what I'm saying? So it. And then if. If you really put things in the proper perspective, then you start to see things as. Not it not being so hard to let those things go. If you look at them as done or garbage or doo doo in comparison to him.
B
Yeah.
A
You know, it's like, oh, you don't want me to date right now. Bet. You know, I may not like. Like that all the time, every day in my. In my. Walk out out of that obedience. But compared to you.
D
And what can he ask you to let go of where he won't give you more of himself anyway?
A
Correct. Correct. Because Christ gave all of himself. So when you come to Christ, you're getting Him. That's what you should be wanting to get. Because that's what he gave you.
D
Doesn't just leave your hands empty.
E
Yeah.
A
You get him. And when you get him, you get all that you need. And if you truly believe that he withholds no good thing from you, then if that platform is good for you, he'll. He'll give it to you. If that relationship is good for you, he'll give it to you. That friendship is good for you, he'll. He'll give it to you.
D
And maybe it was good for you for a season. Maybe he knows things that you don't. So if he says not anymore, you have to trust him.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
Anyway, that was not what I was prepared to talk about at all.
D
What an answered prayer. Holy Spirit, have your way bad. Got to move it in here.
A
Yeah. I don't know why that was just so random, but I think that was good. Yeah, I think we should just. I guess the encouragement is two things. One, most importantly, is he your glory? You know what I mean? I think that that's something worth interrogating. I've been reading Psalms 3 and where David says, you are my glory and the lifter of my head, like, you are my glory. And that's something that I've just been praying, like, lord, I want a heart where it's like, you are my glory. And so if you are my glory and you are the thing that I. That I value more than anything, the. The one who I care about in love and honor and respect more than anything, and I have a heart that is in awe of you, then it's like, whatever you're requiring me to do, I say yes to that with joy, not with content. Because there are times where we say yes, but it's like, you know what I mean? Where you're like. Like, you say yes, but you mad about that. Yes. You know what I'm saying? And I think the Lord wants. He wants joyful and willing full obedience, where it's like, because he is your glory, you're just willing. You know what I mean? Now he truly has your heart and can use you as a willing vessel to do whatever it is that he wants to do through your life. Yeah. And that needs to be our thing. Like, we need to be like, no, he is my gorgeous.
D
Is that Psalms 3?
C
It's the M. It's like, she literally said it
D
intrusive.
A
You call it intrusive? I might say something else, but, you know. But, yeah, I think so. I think. And then after that, I think after thinking through and interrogating that, like, is God my glory? Like, is the Lord truly my glory?
B
Then.
A
Then interrogate, kind of how you've been living that out through social media, through relationships, through your job, through your children, through whatever. Like. Like, has he been my. My main focus? Has he been my. My anchor? Has he been my. You know what I mean? Like, is he my glory? And if he is my glory, then I consider him in everything that I do. When I post, when I text, when I watch stuff. You know, I've been convicted of watching stuff. And the Lord be like, now, Megan H. You. You know.
C
Yeah.
A
Does that bring glory to me? You know, just like, shows that might show inappropriate stuff. It's like, yeah, is that something that you need to be watching? You know what I mean? And I. I don't know. I guess just being sensitive to the time, and it's like. I don't know. I feel like the Lord is like, yeah, we ain't. It's time to.
C
Yeah. Everything isn't for us.
B
Yeah.
C
Christians, you know, it's like, we don't need to be a part of every conversation and indulge in every pop culture moment. It's like, in the world, not of the world.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
D
And having that Mindset is guarding your heart. Your eyes, your ears. Those are pathways to your heart.
C
Yeah, yeah.
D
And that stuff that goes into your heart will come out.
B
Yeah, yeah. When I was at his house, Abby, she was watching TV or whatever, and it was. It's a show on Netflix, but. And I watched it too, and it's not bad or anything, but it's just.
C
Yeah, it's like. It's.
B
It's like a Pretty Little Liars Vampire diaries type show. Ms. Lena came by and she was just like. She was just like, guard your gates. Guard your gates. I think she heard. She heard one little thing. She was like, guard your gates. Guard your gate. So we was like, I know, but I think one thing, like, when it comes to being a Christian, the way that the Lord is just gracious and kind, I think the more you are intimate with him and the more you do know him, it's. That's where it makes sense. Oh, I don't have to be perfect not to give you grace to do whatever you want, but just as you move in life, I think the Lord will just always be at the forefront of your mind. So it's like, no, we're not supposed. Like, there are some things that are just not for us, but we have to be presented with so that we can know. Oh, yeah, it's not like eliminating, oh, you can't watch TV at all. But when you are watching tv, are you mindful of anything or are you just gonna eliminate it so that you don't have to put yourself in a controlled and disciplined state to be like, let me cut this off. Because it's not of the Lord. But I think that's what.
A
Because that right there can lead to what I did wanna talk about later today, but just remind me of that, because I think. Think, and everybody that's watching you can just be on the lookout for an episode where we talk about, like, guarding yourself and. And arming yourself. I think that's really important. Yeah, guard your gates and be armored up. We'll talk about that on another episode. We love you guys. We'll see you next week. Main Guests: Jordan, Nicole, and other panelists
This episode of "In Totality with Megan Ashley" explores what it means to make God your ultimate glory—placing Him at the center of every aspect of life, especially in the age of social media. Through vibrant discussion, vulnerability, and authenticity, Megan and her guests examine issues of obedience, the seductive pull of online influence, the tension between public faith and private devotion, and how Christians can faithfully represent Christ in every sphere, seen and unseen. The conversation challenges listeners to interrogate their motives, embrace hidden obedience, and guard their spiritual lives in both digital and daily routines.

Sacrifice is inherent to discipleship:
"It costs you everything. And we should not shy away from what it actually costs to follow Christ." (44:39, Megan)
Sharing both successes and mistakes online can encourage others, but authenticity must not replace holiness.
God as your glory: When God is your focus and greatest desire, everything else pales—career, relationships, platforms become “dung” in comparison.
“When social media is your glory… that becomes your focus. But when he's your glory, then he's the focus… Whatever it is that he's requiring you to put down, you're happy to do it, because he's my glory.” (45:06, Megan)
Megan Ashley [20:31]:
"Instead of seeing and speaking, see and seek… Going to see something and seek the Lord about what I'm seeing, and then I'm going to humble myself and ask him, Lord, what do you want me to do with what you've allowed me to see?"
Megan Ashley [32:57]:
"We cannot prioritize being an influencer before we're a disciple… Everything that I do, it has to come from the foundation of first, I'm a Christian."
Megan Ashley [40:17]:
"It's the things that are done behind the scenes… the most important yes is the yes that nobody knows that you have to say yes to. It's those yeses that matter."
Megan Ashley [44:39]:
"It costs you everything. And we should not shy away from what it actually costs to follow Christ."
Megan Ashley [45:06]:
“But when social media is your glory, or… anything else is your glory, then that becomes your focus. But when he's your glory, then he's the focus.”
“As if a husband and a wife wouldn’t put cameras in their bedroom while they’re being intimate. I just don’t think that a camera belongs in that intimate space with the Lord.” (13:40, Megan)
Before sharing spiritual moments online, pause and seek God’s counsel—what’s your real intention?
Be mindful of what you allow in—what you watch, listen to, and engage with, because these shape your soul and witness.
“Guard your gates. Your eyes, your ears—those are pathways to your heart. And that stuff that goes into your heart will come out.” (53:32, Panelist)
Is Jesus truly your main prize, or have other pursuits or platforms subtly overtaken Him?
“Is he my glory? If he is, then I consider him in everything I do… When I post, when I text, when I watch stuff.” (52:08, Megan)
Megan concludes by urging listeners to daily examine who (or what) is their true glory, to be cautious in all they do (online and off), and to let God be their anchor in public and private. With laughter, wisdom, and a call to holiness, this episode serves as both a challenge and encouragement to anyone wanting to live an authentic, surrendered Christian life—in totality.
