“We can’t control our kids’ every move, but we can pray that God will work in their hearts for their protection. Prayer is that comfort as we put our confidence in who God is and what He can do.” As we learn about God and His attributes, we find a peace and confidence that can’t be found anywhere else. Listen in as we dive into 2 Corinthians 3 with our North Carolina State Coordinator, Jayme Kirk, and are reminded of the power of the simple gospel. The Moms in Prayer Podcast is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. To find practical and spiritual advice to help you grow into the parent you want to be visit ChristianParenting.orgABOUT OUR GUESTThe first time I heard about Moms in Prayer was at Missions Day at my church. My local area coordinator had a table set up there. She wonderfully shared how we could gather as moms to pray for our children and schools, releasing the stress and anxious thoughts that burden us. So, I started a group right away with one other mom! God was faithful to bring others to pray with us for the schools in our area. And, it’s such a God thing that, in the following years, I was able to host that same Moms in Prayer table at my church, continuing to share the vision that all schools be covered in prayer! My favorite Scripture verse and one I cling to, is Ephesians 3:20, “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us…”I have been married to John since 2009 and we have two teenage boys, Cooper and Cade. We enjoy activities together in the “great outdoors” from the mountains to the coast!SCRIPTURESBut the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23 NLTNever let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Proverbs 3:3 NLTAnd I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. Ezekiel 36:26 NLTAnd this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15 ESV“The day is coming,” says the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. This covenant will not be like the one I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand and brought them out of the land of Egypt. They broke that covenant, though I loved them as a husband loves his wife,” says the Lord. “But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel after those days,” says the Lord. “I will put my instructions deep within them, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. Jeremiah 31:31-33 NLTAnd this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began. John 17:3-5 NLTSatan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. 2 Corinthians 4:4 NLTLINKSBOOKSNew to Moms in Prayer? “One of the most important things that moms can teach their children is that they have access to God’s forgiveness. Because they will always return. They will always remember that grace opened a door for them.” As we continue in our 2 Corinthians series, we are joined today by our Director of Central America, Diana de Fouler. She walks us through chapter two and reminds us of the great grace and forgiveness that has been extended to us by God and how we need to teach that to our kids. As we live lives full of love and grace, our children will find a safe place in us and learn how to go to God in all things. The Moms in Prayer Podcast is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. Today kicks off our newest series through the book of 2 Corinthians. Division Coordinator, Deborah Bryant, opens us up with chapter one, reminding us of our who our great God is—full of mercy and comfort. No matter the struggles we face, God is faithful to walk with us. “He meets us in our suffering with His tender presence and strengthening power. And He doesn’t stop there. Around that time, I read a book about Moms in Prayer International, and it deeply resonated with me. Just days later, I saw a friend while shopping and to my surprise, she had read the same book! Right then and there we decided to start a Moms in Prayer group together.Through Moms in Prayer, I began—and continue—to learn how to surrender my fears and worries, letting God replace them with His peace and comfort. Now years later, meeting weekly with my Moms in Prayer group remains one of the most meaningful and powerful things I do as a mom.My husband and I live in Des Moines, Iowa. We’re blessed with a daughter, and a son and daughter-in-law, who also live nearby.SCRIPTURESNot only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. “The enemy of our souls wants us to believe that we know what is best, so we don’t seek out what God has said is actually best.” Elizabeth Urbanowicz, CEO of Foundation Worldview, helps guide us as Christian parents to teach our children truth from the Word of God. The world and the opinion of man can be very loud. We can feel pressure to raise “perfect children”, but the best thing we can do is to raise our kids in a way that honors and glorifies God. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education and Spanish, an M.S.Ed in Literacy Education, and an M.A. in Christian Apologetics from Biola University. Elizabeth began her professional career as an elementary teacher in a Christian school. Several years into her teaching experience, she realized that despite being raised in Christian homes, attending a Christian school, and being active in church, her students thought more like the culture than like Christ. She created curricular materials that would equip her students to think critically, helping them discover that Christianity is the worldview that lines up with reality. Elizabeth now works full-time on developing comparative worldview and apologetics resources for children. Her goal is to prepare the next generation to be lifelong critical thinkers and, most importantly, lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ.SCRIPTURESTrust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. “I am so thankful for my daughter’s prodigal years. As I learned about MIP, I knew God was drawing me to prayer. I have benefited in so many ways, including learning the character of God and how to pray; having sincere, available prayer support, and experiencing hope and blessing while raising a prodigal teenager. Proverbs 3:5-6 is so true…”trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” Now this daughter, Jaclyn, prays in a MIP group for her children and serves the ministry in her area and on our state team.My husband Fred and I have been married for 41 years. We have three adult children with spouses and nine grandchildren. We raised our family in Wenatchee, Washington and now live near them all in Meridian, Idaho. I heard God’s Spirit call me in March 2023 to serve the women of Idaho as State Coordinator for MIP. It is a huge blessing to support, train, develop leadership across this state as we pray and fast for the salvation of students. In addition to prayer ministry, I mentor young women of all ages and enjoy a variety of crafting projects.Jaclyn St. JohnI live in Meridian, Idaho with my husband, Cody and our children, Chloe (10) and Jaxon (7), plus two dogs and a cat!
