Narrator
A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty hio. Silver the Lone Ranger.
Tonto
Sam.
Narrator
Most of the trouble with the Indians in the early days of the western United States was caused by renegade whites exploiting the red men. Uprisings and massacres followed, and it was not until the Masked Rider of the Plains started his great fight for justice that peace was restored to the frontier. It was he, more than any other man, who brought about better understanding between the two races and finally made possible the winning of the West. Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear. From out of the pass come the thundering hoof bits of the great horse Silver. The Lone Ranger rides again.
Silver (Horse)
Come on, Silver. We're heading for sun, moon, rock puddles waiting for us A little Silver. Hooray.
Narrator
The late afternoon sunlight scraped the tops of the funeral mountain and sent long shadows across the prairie as the Lone Ranger rode toward the west. The Lone Ranger's eyes were narrowed behind his mask as he searched the country ahead.
The Lone Ranger
Taddo's here someplace, Silver. We're following his trail. There's Sentinel Rock up ahead just beyond that arroyo we're coming to. I can cross the swinging Bridge and then swilt. What's that? That's Taddo's danger whistle.
Silver (Horse)
Off the trail, Silver. Into the arroyo.
The Lone Ranger
Thump.
Silver (Horse)
Silver. Steady, boy. What is it? Timo?
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Sabi, you come quick.
Craven
Trees here.
Tonto
You want super safe, Tanto Plenty worried, Kimo Sabi.
The Lone Ranger
I heard your danger whistle, Tanto.
Tonto
What is it?
The Lone Ranger
The trail looked clear up ahead.
Tonto
Me show you here.
The Lone Ranger
An arrow?
Tonto
That's right.
The Lone Ranger
Where did you find this?
Tonto
Me right. Scalp Come to bridge. Start. Cross arrow hit bridge.
The Lone Ranger
So right in front of you. Where did the arrow come from, Tano?
Tonto
Up there from long way off. From the top of Sentinel Rock, huh?
The Lone Ranger
It's getting dark. Kimosabe. I think you and I should go up there and find out about this.
Tonto
It's a long way.
The Lone Ranger
There's no path up to the top of Sentinel Rock except from the south. Take us quite a while to circle around to it, but we'll try.
Tonto
Who you think shoot arrow?
The Lone Ranger
Look at the feathers. And the way the head is set on the shaft.
Tonto
Taro, huh?
The Lone Ranger
And these colors. It's a Pawnee arrow.
Tonto
Maybe so.
The Lone Ranger
Come on. We can head south along this arroyo. It's too deep for anyone on top of Sentinel Rock to notice us.
Tonto
Good thing aeronaut hit usa.
The Lone Ranger
I swerved off the trail as soon as I heard your whistle. Tano.
Tonto
Silver and I were. What matter?
The Lone Ranger
Look, Kimosabe. It didn't miss by much. There's another arrow stuck right into Silver's saddle. If we hadn't pulled off the trail just when we did, one of us wouldn't be alive.
Tonto
And that Pawnee arrow, too.
The Lone Ranger
Kimasabe, Silver and I. Well, we both owe you our lives.
Tonto
Better we plan who shoot arrow and then counterfex him.
The Lone Ranger
No, Taro. We'll handle this my way.
Silver (Horse)
Follow me.
Craven
Get him up.
Silver (Horse)
Sc Come on, Silver. We're climbing Sentinel Rock.
The Lone Ranger
We're almost at the top of the trail. T Can you see anything up there?
Tonto
Plenty dark.
The Lone Ranger
Not a sound. Not a light.
Tonto
What that?
The Lone Ranger
I don't hear it now.
Tonto
It sound like big rock.
The Lone Ranger
Whatever it was, it's gone. Be careful, Tato. As trail gets narrower the higher we climb.
Tonto
Kimasabe. What is it, Tonto? Feels strange. Maybe that sound. Thunder God from sky.
The Lone Ranger
Don't let your imagination run away with your common sense, Tonto.
Tonto
We find plenty trouble.
The Lone Ranger
There's no trouble that we can't handle if we learn about it in time.
Tonto
Sentinel Rock not good.
The Lone Ranger
Why not?
Tonto
Tantal not tell you this afore in daylight. But now darkness come tantophyllic all round. Sentinel Rock. Haunted. Haunted, huh? Evil Spirit on rock. Indian know that? From old story. Medicine men of Indian tribe know that.
The Lone Ranger
Those arrows weren't shot from a ghost bow.
Tonto
Toto. Those are real arrows. Uh huh.
The Lone Ranger
When we get to the top, we'll learn the answer.
Tonto
Tano not Sabi. What noise was.
The Lone Ranger
We'll find the answer to that too. Kemo Sabi.
Tonto
I hear it. Thunder.
The Lone Ranger
Well, it's not thunder.
Tonto
It can't be. His eyes are out any loud. Toto. Toto.
Silver (Horse)
That's a rock.
Tonto
Huh?
The Lone Ranger
That's a rock rolling down the mountains.
Silver (Horse)
It's coming straight for us.
Craven
We get off trail pass.
Silver (Horse)
Come on.
Craven
There's no place to turn. Trail heaps narrow.
Silver (Horse)
Follow me. Come on, Silver. Where we go?
Craven
Keep us happy.
Silver (Horse)
There's a break in the cliff up ahead, Kato. You can see it against the sky. If we can make it before that rock, we can get out of the way.
Hila
Promise.
Silver (Horse)
It's going to be close. Rock is moving faster all the time. We get them up spy with their silver. We've got to beat that rock faster.
Bright Sky
It has ended. They are dead. They could not escape the rock I sent crashing down the mountain. They are dead. They can harm my husband or my tribe no more.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
So
Bright Sky
the arrows once more go back in the quiver. All day long we've been up here on Sentinel Rock. We have braved the spirit of the thunder God to help the tribe. Now we go.
Tonto
You are a good horse.
Bright Sky
You stood quiet and still all day. It is dark. The trail is long and steep. Caught
Tonto
now.
The Lone Ranger
Kimosabe.
Silver (Horse)
What is it? Get the horse. Climb.
Hila
The reins.
Silver (Horse)
You thought you'd finish this up, did you?
Tonto
You get away from rock pretty fast.
The Lone Ranger
Don't try to take the reins. We want to know what this is all about.
Tonto
Why did you shoot arrows at us?
The Lone Ranger
Why did you try to crush us by catapulting that rock down the mountain trail?
Bright Sky
You are not craven. I thought you were Scar. Craven? I thought this other was his partner. The one called Hila Fato.
Tonto
A woman. Pretty strange.
The Lone Ranger
A woman. You never expected to find anything like this on top of Sentinel Rock. Who are you?
Bright Sky
My name is Bright sky of the Kawa tribe of the Pawnee Nation. I am Indian.
The Lone Ranger
Who was here with you who tried to kill us.
Bright Sky
Look no further. I am one.
Tonto
You?
Bright Sky
I shot the arrows, yes. And I rolled the stone. But I did not mean them for you. I thought you were someone else.
The Lone Ranger
You top hit good.
Bright Sky
I went to school at the mission since I was very small.
The Lone Ranger
Just a moment. You mentioned two names, Scar, Craven and Hela. Are those the men you Were after.
Bright Sky
They mean to rob my tribe. I wanted to stop them.
The Lone Ranger
What made you think they were coming this way?
Bright Sky
Because I knew of it. From my husband?
Tonto
Yes.
Bright Sky
I argued with him. They plan to use him as a tool for their robbery.
Tonto
Plenty bad. Right.
The Lone Ranger
Sky, is your husband dishonest?
Bright Sky
No. No. My husband thinks he is doing the right thing. He thinks he is helping the tribe. He would not listen to me. He went off to meet them. So I tried.
The Lone Ranger
So you meant to stop them and you didn't care how. Is that it?
Bright Sky
Yes. Yes, that is it. But instead of coming this way, Craven and Hela must have gone by another trail. They're going to meet my husband. And it's too late to stop them.
Bear Paw
Gila.
Craven
Where we meet in this engine ain't far now, Craven. The town's right yonder.
Hila
What town?
Craven
Smokey Ridge.
Hila
Smokey Ridge? We didn't come easy.
Craven
Trail land.
Hila
Why didn't we come by way of sitting the rocks?
Craven
You got any liking for getting dry ghost, Craven?
Hila
Yeah.
Craven
This ancient brave we're meeting has got a wife who ain't so dumb, Craven.
Tonto
You savvy?
Hila
Hey, kiddig. She was right on top of setting the luck, Wheaton.
Craven
Yeah, I figured so. She was plump, desperate to save her tribe.
Hila
Sure a good thing they all ain't that smart.
Craven
She's used to con games, I reckon. Heard a plenty about them.
Hila
Yeah, she must be there yet with a bow and arrow and nothing to shoot at.
Silver (Horse)
Yeah.
Hila
Get all that counterfeit money he list.
Craven
Got two saddlebags full of it. Craven. You got the rest?
Hila
Yep, sure have.
Craven
We meet this redskin in the Eagle Pass cafe. Craven.
Hila
G. Don't forget you let me head to the talks heavy. I'm a lot smoother than you are.
Bear Paw
This year. We're looking for a Pawnee engine that goes by the name of Bear paw. You around any place.
Tonto
You the gents he's waiting for?
Bear Paw
Yep.
Tonto
Up them stairs, gents. Room 3.
Bear Paw
Much of BL let's handle these in. Reckon that Aubrey suspects craven?
Tonto
Nah, he surveyed us kind of thorough.
Bear Paw
Keep your hand away from your host. Are you going plum? Luko? He's still looking up after us. Sure he is. We're strangers in town, ain't we? What do you expect him to do? Trust any fellow that holds in here. Just don't hear say so.
Tonto
It's all right now. He turned away.
Bear Paw
Sure told you not to worry. Room number three, he said. Here it is. Yep.
Tonto
I hope this engine ain't been talking
Bear Paw
to no judge since we last seen him.
The Lone Ranger
Shut up.
Bear Paw
Howdy Howdy, Bear Paw.
Tonto
Greetings. Will you enter?
Bear Paw
You still feel like it did the last time we powered with you, Bear Paw.
Tonto
Bear Paw does not change mine.
Bear Paw
There ain't no sense selling your tribe's land to the government when we can offer you more for it.
Tonto
That right.
Bear Paw
And you needn't worry about us making sure the government gets the land the way you wanted them to. We just want to make certain we're in a good spot to get the first crack at a certain section of the land we want in that territory. There ain't nothing wrong in that.
Tonto
Is he, you honest men?
Bear Paw
Sure we are. Sure. Now, we got the money right here in these saddlebags here.
Tonto
I got the rest here.
Bear Paw
All you gotta do, Bear Paw, is to sign this here paper. It's a deed giving us the land.
Tonto
You give Pawnee tribe time to leave.
Hila
Sure. All the time in the world.
Bear Paw
You sign, I sign. And Healer here will act as witness. Satisfactory end.
Tonto
Yes. Here's the cash. You better count it first. Bear Paul. This paper money.
Bear Paw
Yes, that's regular government money.
Tonto
Oh, take a good look at it.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
That's real money.
Bear Paw
Just to prove it to you and kill him.
Tonto
Yeah.
Bear Paw
Take this here folding money and bring that gent we saw downstairs up to take a look at it, huh?
Craven
All right. Hey, mister. Mister, Come up here a minute, will you, Bear?
Bear Paw
Pa. We'll just stand here and watch.
Tonto
Agreeable. Therefore not doubt your word.
Bear Paw
Sure, but you mentioned. Shouldn't get too trusting. All folks aren't as honest as we are. Watch it.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Did you want me, stranger?
Tonto
Yeah. You run this shebang?
Bartender/Saloon Owner
I run it, mister.
Tonto
What can I do for you? We'd like a couple of drinks. We ain't got hard money. This is all right, isn't it?
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Holding money, huh?
Tonto
Get a look at it.
Bear Paw
See, he's holding it up to the lady.
Tonto
It's his government money, all right.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
I've seen plenty of it around. Good money. I'll have your drinks set up.
Tonto
Keno. Mr. Bear Paul, did you see that?
Bear Paw
We were both watching. There's money as good as gold. Bear Pa knew that, but I just wanted to remind him it don't pay to take things for granted.
Tonto
Ever.
Bear Paw
Here's the money for your trap, Bearpaw. And here's the pen. Got ink right on it. How you sign here, Bear Paw.
Tonto
Signed paper.
Bear Paw
That's right. Now I sign. Now he lays the witness.
Tonto
There. That settles the whole deal.
Hila
Well, you've done your tribal service, Mayor.
Bear Paw
Pa, in spite of what your wife tried to say. I'm only Sorry. We got a fair moose we gotta make.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
You Genshin. Trying to cheat this engine, huh? That money's a mighty good copy. But it ain't a real thing. Therefore, grab that paper.
Hila
Either you got.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
No, you don't.
Narrator
You shoot Bear Paw. Come on.
Hila
We get arrested. Follow me. Stand right where you are. Everybody stand. City. You'll catch land. We're making tracks and there ain't nobody gonna stop us.
Silver (Horse)
Get up.
Bear Paw
Get up, baby.
The Lone Ranger
Get up.
Tonto
Get up.
Hila
That's where she lives.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
It worked for getting away.
Hila
It's all over with the shouting.
Narrator
The curtain falls on the first act of our Lone Ranger story. Before the next exciting scenes. Please permit us to pause for just a few moments.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Sam.
Narrator
Now to continue our story. The Lone Ranger and Tonto rode through the night with bright sky. The fawny Indian woman. They expected to find the town of Smoky Ridge still sleeping as they approached in the early dawn. But instead they saw a group of horses tied in front of the cafe.
Silver (Horse)
Look. Kino sabe. Something's happened.
Bright Sky
They have been riding a long time. Look how tired they are.
Silver (Horse)
I hope there's been no trouble with Bearpaw. We're going to the cafe and find out as soon as it's checked.
Tonto
That's right. Stand right still, all three of you.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Come on, J.
The Lone Ranger
We came peacefully. What does this mean?
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Mister? We don't take no chances. A couple of ornery skunks come in here late last evening. They cheated a poor engine and they pulled their guns. Now we aim to make sure you ain't one of the same rotten pack.
The Lone Ranger
You're wearing a bandage.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
I got creased when I tried to step in and stop the little game.
The Lone Ranger
Did you get them?
Bartender/Saloon Owner
I went after them. We lost the trail. Now, mister, please.
Bright Sky
Is Bear Paw hurt?
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Quiet. I just noticed something, mister. You're wearing a mask.
Hila
What we do?
Bright Sky
Key.
Tonto
Ms. Hubby.
The Lone Ranger
Steady.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Never mind your whispering, mister. It's getting light plenty fast. I don't sadly who the woman might be but we don't cotton to outlaws. Maybe we ought to string you two up in place of them two that got away.
The Lone Ranger
So did Craven and Hema.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
We don't know their names, but it appears like you do.
The Lone Ranger
We're looking for them just as you are.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
That's funny, that is. You almost sound like it was a lawman. First time I ever seen a lawman wear a mask.
The Lone Ranger
Just a moment before there's a shooting. Listen to this woman. We came here to help Bear Paw.
Tonto
Yeah.
The Lone Ranger
Who is he? We'll know. We're on his side, Mr.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
I wouldn't count on seeing Bear Paw again.
Bright Sky
He. He is not hurt.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Well, I'll be dog gone, lady. You're an Indian?
Bright Sky
I am Bright sky of the Kalwa tribe of the Pawnee Indian Nation.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
The Kawa tribe. That's Bear Paws trap.
Bright Sky
Is he hurt?
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Now, just a second. Before I answer that, I still want to know who these hombres are and what business.
Bright Sky
The best man is the Lone Ranger.
The Lone Ranger
Mister, we're wasting time. Where is Bearpaw? Is he all right? We want to see him. And for your information, this lady is Bearpaw's wife.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
She's wife? Leave your horses here. Come inside. I'll take you to him right this minute. He's in this room here.
Bright Sky
Bear Paw. It is I. It is Bear Paw.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Did not see him.
Bright Sky
In his hope.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
He caught one of them bullets them two ombre's let fly. I didn't know how to tell you.
The Lone Ranger
Let's take a look at him. Is he badly hurt?
Bright Sky
Oh, don't.
Bear Paw
It's all right.
The Lone Ranger
Donald knows more about healing people than most doctors.
Tonto
Mister?
The Lone Ranger
Yes?
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Come out in the hall for a minute. I'd like to tell you something kind of private like.
The Lone Ranger
Very well.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Mister, I gotta tell your bust. I don't exactly sadly what Bear Paw done. But he sure ain't going to be popular around his tribe's wigwams.
The Lone Ranger
Bear Paw is honest. I'm sure of it.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Of course, as honest as the day is long. He's just not a match for them slick crooks. He's been unconscious since the shooting scrape.
The Lone Ranger
He signed some paper. That's what Bright sky seemed to think would happen.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Yep, he signed it.
The Lone Ranger
Did you get it?
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Nary a chance, mister. Them two skunks were slid out of here like they had wings. If we only knew where they was heading, we could maybe make it hot for them.
The Lone Ranger
How is it?
Tonto
Him be all right? It not take long.
The Lone Ranger
Good.
Tonto
Bright sky, she stay inside with husband.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Did Bear Paul do any talking Engine
Tonto
him still plenty sick.
The Lone Ranger
You learn about gunman, the trail thins out. Unless we have some idea of their scheme, we can't get them.
Tonto
Hello.
The Lone Ranger
There's only one thing to do.
Tonto
And what that?
The Lone Ranger
Wait until Bear Paw is well enough to talk.
Tonto
That's not good.
The Lone Ranger
I know. I'll ride it on the trailer ways and see if I can find out which way Craven and Hila went. But I'm afraid Bear Paws our only chance.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
We come to the same spot as this masked man.
The Lone Ranger
This is where you lost the trail?
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Yep. Now I figure you know a Heap sight more about searching out a trail than any of us gents.
The Lone Ranger
You head back for town, huh? It may take me an hour or two. I'm almost positive I won't find any sign of them. But I might just as well make certain.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Keno, mister. Adios and good luck. I'll see you later.
The Lone Ranger
Adios.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
I see you got back, mister. Find anything?
The Lone Ranger
Not a sign. That trail's washed out for good.
Craven
Yeah.
The Lone Ranger
If we're going to catch those outlaws, it won't be by trailing them. How is Bear Paul?
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Just the same.
The Lone Ranger
Thought I was caring for him.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Yeah, that engine sure is a wonder when it comes to doctoring folks.
The Lone Ranger
It's too bad you haven't got a telegraph station here so we could send out a description of Craven and Hila. That might help.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
I've been telling every traveler that went through. Word will spread around, mister.
The Lone Ranger
Let's hope it spreads fast enough to get those men before they accomplish their purpose. Whatever it is they.
Tonto
You come quick. Bear Paw. Him better him tell where Crooks go. You come quickly.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
I hit it with my own ears. Bear Paul was just talking about it. Them coyotes are aiming to cheat the whole Koala tribe. Them claws are good engines. Doggone fine engines. Craven and Healer handed Bear Paw a mess of fake money. Now they got his signature on a paper. They'll go east till they meet up with a government agent. They'll give him the paper signed by Bear Paw and he hands them the money for the call land. It's as slick a scheme as I ever heard. Reckon the mask man and the engine will be coming down soon. I roused you fellas out so you
The Lone Ranger
could to the horses keep us.
Hila
We go quick.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Mask man. Just a second. Well, how soon are we leaving to catch them, hombre?
The Lone Ranger
Right now. But only Tato and I are going have a party. There are only two of them. Besides, they've got a long head start on us. Your horses can never catch them and may bring silver for you. Good. Steady, boy. You men take care of Bear Paw.
Silver (Horse)
Adios.
Craven
Get him up, Scout.
Silver (Horse)
Come on, Silver.
Craven
Well, if that don't beat all. Jennings calls together a pos and what happens?
Bartender/Saloon Owner
We don't even get to go. Shut up, all of you. Just look at them horses. Cover the ground. The masked man was right. We couldn't keep up with him anyway.
Bear Paw
See that?
Hila
Give him the pay wagon yet, Healey?
Tonto
Huh?
Hila
I said to you, that dog on your hide. Look up ahead, not behind us. Worried over nothing.
Bear Paw
Nobody's on our trail.
Craven
I thought I saw a cloud of Dust back yonder.
Hila
It didn't.
Craven
I thought I did.
Hila
And it was antelope Wind swirling. We're clear of any chase, I tell you. Now peel your eyes on the trail ahead.
Craven
Something wrong?
Hila
You got good eyes. Use them.
Craven
I don't see nothing.
Hila
Squint over that way.
Bear Paw
That's a wagon, ain't it?
Silver (Horse)
Yeah.
Craven
Yeah. Craven, that's it. That's the government van. That's him.
Hila
I figured.
Bear Paw
So here's where we give him this paper and collect our money.
Craven
I'm still worried about the back trail, Craven.
Hila
All right, then. You keep watching the back trail. I'm going on ahead.
Craven
If there's any trouble, I'll let you know.
Hila
There won't be no trouble. I've gone after that light and get up there. Hey there, rain up. Hold on. I want to see you. You're the government man. I got something for you.
Craven
Keep your hands high, mister. Walk your horse.
Hila
Are you electrocious, Jeff? I don't believe they're carrying all that jazz.
Craven
Catchers, maybe. What makes you think I got cash
Bear Paw
and you to give them that ain't you? Well, I get something here in my saddle.
Craven
Keep your hands high.
Bear Paw
Easy with that shooting iron, mister. It's just a legal paper I want to get.
Craven
All right, but don't make a move towards your holster. My trigger fingers mighty jumpy.
Bear Paw
Here you are, Misty. This use of paper sent by Bear Paul, the Co Op tribe authorizing you to hand up money to me.
Craven
Let me see. Yeah, that's Bearpaw signature, all right. Yeah. Yep, it's all legal.
Bear Paw
Reckon you'll be glad to have that money over and your responsibility, huh?
Craven
Yes, I might as well put down my gun. I got the money right back here in this box.
Tonto
Here it is.
Craven
It's in big bills, Mr. Craven.
Bear Paw
Yeah, we don't mind that.
The Lone Ranger
Just hand it over.
Bear Paw
What was that whistle?
Craven
Say, it looks like something's going on up there. Who's this man heading towards us? Those two others coming after him? I don't like to look so.
Hila
You got your gun out and I'll use it.
Bear Paw
Give me the money, I'll take it myself.
Craven
They're coming after run for until I
Hila
get the rest of this cash.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
You come local, we got to make track.
Hila
Pull them off.
Craven
They're coming fast.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Here's the rest of the cash.
Hila
Use your guns. Wax us. I don't want to give up this cash.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
I keep shooting, but they don't stop.
Craven
That white horse is coming like the wind.
Silver (Horse)
Don't shoot dead, Paul. Don't shoot till I give the word out of.
Tonto
Wait.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Craven. Get your gun.
Craven
Start shooting.
Hila
Put in under the right. On top of us.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Where's my gun? I.
Silver (Horse)
No, no.
Bartender/Saloon Owner
Oh, my hand.
Silver (Horse)
Don't touch those guns.
Craven
We ain't moving, mister. I never see such shooting. He knocked the guns right out of our hands.
Silver (Horse)
Shut up.
The Lone Ranger
How's the government, man?
Craven
I'm all right, Mass man. Just got the wind knocked out of me.
Tonto
You know, Mass man?
Craven
Sure do. I've seen that horse before. You're the Lone Ranger, mister.
Bear Paw
A lone Ranger.
The Lone Ranger
T take that money.
Tonto
Me do it.
The Lone Ranger
Here's another paper, mister. This one tells a straight story. You think you can handle these two crooks list, sir?
Craven
I sure can. Turn around you coyotes, while I sling this rope around you. You're heading for the calaboos.
Tonto
Ton got all money, Kimasabi.
The Lone Ranger
Good. Then we'll go. Merpole is waiting for this.
Silver (Horse)
Come along tto get a monster, man.
Craven
IOS engine.
Silver (Horse)
Come on, Silver. Back to smoky rage.
Craven
Hey, them ropes are tied.

Host: Andrew Rhynes
Release Date: June 7, 2026
This episode features a digitally restored presentation of the classic 1941 "The Lone Ranger" radio drama, "Evil Spirits at Sentinel Rock." Blending restoration with reverence for vintage radio, the episode delivers a tale of deceit, courage, and justice on the American frontier, centered around land deals, counterfeit money, and the myth of haunted Sentinel Rock. The Lone Ranger and Tonto must untangle a plot threatening a Pawnee tribe and confront both supernatural rumors and very real bandits.
"If we hadn't pulled off the trail just when we did, one of us wouldn't be alive."
— The Lone Ranger [05:53]
"Sentinel Rock… Haunted, huh? Evil spirit on rock. Indian know that? From old story. Medicine men of Indian tribe know that."
— Tonto [07:07]
"Don't let your imagination run away with your common sense, Tonto."
— The Lone Ranger [06:55]
"I shot the arrows, yes. And I rolled the stone. But I did not mean them for you. I thought you were someone else."
— Bright Sky [09:56]
"There ain't no sense selling your tribe's land to the government when we can offer you more for it."
— Craven [12:52]
"He knocked the guns right out of our hands."
— Craven [26:36]
"Nobody gets away with anything when they meets up with a lone ranger. No, sir."

— The Lone Ranger [05:53]

The episode balances classic Western drama—high-stakes chases, gunfights, and tense confrontations—with moments of empathy, especially in portraying the Native American characters as victims but also resourceful and dignified actors in their fate. The dialogue carries the vintage, earnest language of mid-century radio but is given new life by the enhancement and loving curation of the podcast host.
The Lone Ranger remains the archetype of incorruptible justice, outsmarting villains with wit and bravery. Tonto's intuition and loyalty, and Bright Sky's bravery, contribute to the show’s forward-thinking sense of justice and teamwork.
"Evil Spirits at Sentinel Rock" is a quintessential Lone Ranger adventure: action-packed, morally straightforward, and evocative of both the mythic and the real challenges of the Old West. The restoration enhances its immersive potential, bringing new vigor to an old-time classic. Whether for nostalgia or pure storytelling, it's a compelling ride back into yesteryear, where—thanks to the Lone Ranger—justice always triumphs in the end.
