Now that this gold kid and are exciting story. Gold in the Conestoga, the Red basin country of the old Southwest, was a great natural saucer. It had a few trees, a great deal of pagebrush, but not many inhabitants. But it was here in this basin that Josh Dunbar homesteaded when he came west. And it was here, as our story opens, that the Cisco Kid and his constant companion The Roly Poly Poncho were riding.

Quite a country, Cisco. Eh, Poncho?

[Poncho]

It is quite a country.

Well, we will stop at Senor Josh Dunbar for some water. Ah, there is his place right ahead of us.

Hello, Senor Dunbar. Living in Scottish?

[Poncho]

I'm not sure, Chico, but I think around 25 years.

[Cisco Kid]

25 years, eh? Oh, it's a long time just to sit and look at this sage, bro.

[Poncho]

I suspect Senor Dunbar has been doing more than just sitting and looking at the sagebrush.

Well, finally I persuaded my brother Will to come out here from the east. See, he's coming by Conestoga wagon.

But Will ain't any too good at following direction. Leastways he never used to be. I ain't had eyes on him for most 30 years.

[Cisco Kid]

That's a long time. He a big boy now.

[Josh Dunbar]

I don't know whether I'll know him or not.

[Poncho]

I don't know either.

[Josh Dunbar]

But according to my record reckoning, we should have been here yesterday afternoon. I wonder, Cisco, if you and Poncho would ride east to the big rise and see if you can see anything of a Conestoga.

[Poncho]

We'll be glad to do that.

[Cisco Kid]

Say, of Josh, I wouldn't be so

[Josh Dunbar]

concerned it weren't for them two bank robbers riding all over the basin.

[Cisco Kid]

Bank robbers?

[Poncho]

This is the first we have heard of them, senor.

[Josh Dunbar]

Yeah. The sheriff and a big posse called here early this morning. Seems that late yesterday afternoon two robbers walked into the bank in town, shot the cashier dead and got away with several thousand dollars in gold. They're still here in the Basin Police boys. Sheriff Haney thinks so.

[Poncho]

Sheriff Haney?

[Cisco Kid]

Yeah.

[Poncho]

Oh, of course this is his county now.

[Cisco Kid]

He is quite a sheriff, that one.

[Poncho]

His method is to arrest everybody he sees on general principles.

[Cisco Kid]

Well, we hope to bring you good

We hope to say he comes to a brother in a kind of sober.

[Poncho]

Wait a minute, Muddy.

Ain't any sense riding around the basin like this.

We gotta hole up somewhere and do it quick. Yeah, but where? No point holing up where there's no water. Neil, maybe we better hide this gold somewhere and ride the north trail out of here.

[Neil Aiken]

Ah, by now the sheriff got every trail out of the basin covered up. Hey, what's that coming there to be east?

[Cisco Kid]

Hey, it's a big wagon.

[Narrator]

Yeah.

[Neil Aiken]

Maybe it's a trick, Neil. Maybe the sheriff's got some men in that wagon.

[Neil Aiken]

Ah, don't be crazy. The sheriff would never think of nothing like that in a million years. Where'd I put the glasses on that wagon?

[Cisco Kid]

Who is it? Anybody you know, Neil?

[Neil Aiken]

No, it's some old armory. Driving them horses. I got an idea of what it is.

[Cisco Kid]

Come on, get up. Get up. When we get there, you take a

[Poncho]

look at the back of that wagon. See if anybody's in there.

[Cisco Kid]

All right. Howdy, old timer.

[Josh Dunbar]

Howdy.

[Cisco Kid]

Hey, any boys can tell me if I'm on the right field? Is George Dunbar's, please? I reckon so. Got business with Josh Dunbar? I'm his brother. I haven't seen him for a good many years, but I'm much farther. Is it? Oh, a few more miles. Hey, Flop. He's all the way out here from Kansas. Nobody else seemed to liken me. Hey, what are you snooping around my wagon for? You came along. Yes, I did. It's just the setup we want, Muddy. Hey, you. You put a wing that gun, Richard.

Sure, after I make sure you won't do no more talking.

Get this body into the wagon, cover it up, and then we'll get the saddles off our horses to turn the horses loose.

seeing his brother for years. Well, they tell me I look older than I am. Maybe I can pass off as Josh Dunbar's brother.

We have not yet got to the right sponcho. Let us not be impatient.

Though I do not think the wagon would kick up all that dust. I'd rather believe a number of riders are making that dust. Oh, there's the wagon, Chico. Just coming over the rise.

Now, you stay where you are, Muddy. We'll be at Joshua's ranch in just

Wait in this little royal poncho next the party. Because Sheriff Haney likes to ride fast all the time. And when he gets off the main trail, he cannot ride so fast.

But she's called what sheriff. He do when the bandidos leave the main trail. He still keeps after them at full

[Poncho]

gallop on the trail.

[Cisco Kid]

Henry not catch that many bandidos then?

[Poncho]

Very seldom. Pancho.

[Cisco Kid]

Pancho. Hear the Pancho coming now. She's cool.

[Poncho]

He's very departing now, Pancho, we will ride back to the west. I am not satisfied with that hombre in the Conestoga. And I doubt very much if he is Senior Dunbar's brother. Come on over.

[Neil Aiken]

We're just coming into the yard now, Muddy. Better keep your rifle handy.

[Cisco Kid]

Not a good rifle to me when I can't see to shoot and cut

[Neil Aiken]

a hole in the side canvas. Better cut a hole in both. Here he comes out from the house.

[Cisco Kid]

Well, howdy, Josh. Howdy. You will? Why, sure. Can't you tell?

[Josh Dunbar]

Yep, I can tell. And you ain't Will Dunbar? I ain't seen my Brother for years. But there was a family resemblance in his face then. And he wouldn't have lost it all by this time.

[Sheriff Haney]

Hey, here comes that Cisco Kid.

[Cisco Kid]

Who said that? Who's in the wagon?

[Neil Aiken]

All right, I won't try to fool you no more. But if you try to give us away to Cisco, you're a dead man. My partner's inside that wagon with a rifle and I'll have you covered from inside your house.

[Josh Dunbar]

All right, what do you want me to do?

[Neil Aiken]

Get rid of Cisco and Poncho without arousing their suspicions.

[Cisco Kid]

Tell them your brother's in the house arrest.

[Sheriff Haney]

Tell them anything, only get rid of them.

[Poncho]

Josh asked them if they would ride to the east to look for his brother Will, who was coming overland by Conestoga wagon. Our friends found the wagon, but not until it had been taken over by escaping bank robbers Neil Aiken and Muddy Hackett. Cisco knew at once that something was wrong, but before he had time to investigate, Sheriff Haney arrived with a posse and forced Sisko and Poncho to put their horses to a gallop to avoid being arrested. Easily outwitting the posse, Cisco and Pancho rode back to the ranch, only to have the sheriff and posse show up again just as they were having a showdown with the bank robbers. And this time, the posse captured Cisco and Poncho.

[Cisco Kid]

Now, you might as well save your best, Cisco.

[Josh Dunbar]

I don't believe a word you say.

[Sheriff Haney]

And I don't intend to argue with you, Sheriff.

[Poncho]

I'm not trying to argue with you. I'm trying to explain some sense into

[Cisco Kid]

that thick head of yours. You got a head like a billiard ball.

[Sheriff Haney]

All right, now, that's enough of that.

[Poncho]

I tell you, you missed the chance of a lifetime when you did not

[Cisco Kid]

search that house and that wagon.

[Sheriff Haney]

Now look, Josh, all you got is do is keep your mouth shut and you won't get hurt. We're just going to stay here long enough to get ourselves a little rest and some provisions.

[Josh Dunbar]

[Cisco Kid]

Well, we just turned him loose.

[Neil Aiken]

[Josh Dunbar]

[Neil Aiken]

No. It's a nice place Josh Dunbar's got here, Neil. Plenty of good grub and nice soft bunks to sleep in. Them monks will get me nailed. I ain't slept in a bed like that for so long, I forgot what it's like.

[Neil Aiken]

What do you think we stay over here tonight and get ourselves a good feed? Then we can hit them bunks early. It's a little Might like rain. I guess this thing will be under this roof tonight.

towards the town to see what they're doing, huh? Yeah, all right, Muddy.

[Poncho]

to ride back this way. We'll do a little dry go.

[Poncho]

I do not know. M probably. Although we have ridden away from them in the last few minutes.

Although with all his harem scarum notions. There is something of the bulldog about that Sheriff Haney.

[Poncho]

about Senor Josh Dunbar troubles with those bandidos.

[Poncho]

We'll have plenty of trouble with them

Now right to the north. Well, I reckon that's the last we'll see of that Disco kid in Hill.

[Neil Aiken]

[Sheriff Haney]

We scared him off back at the ride.

I like to be sure of that. But I ain't sure, buddy. When we get back to the ranch, we better pack up and get out.
