Narrator
With his faithful Indian companion, Tonto, the masked rider of the planes led the fight for law and order in the early western United States. The stories of his strength and courage, his daring and resourcefulness have come down to us through the generations. And nowhere in the pages of history can one find a greater champion of justice. Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear. From out of the past come the thundering hoof beats of the great horse Silver. The Lone Ranger rides again on Silver.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
A danger on the trail ahead. Oh, Silver. Hi.
Narrator
Lenny towered well over 6ft in height and his 240 pounds of weight were perfectly distributed. The dark haired giant seemed perfectly content with his job as top cowhand on the Gentry ranch a few miles south of town. His only other interest was Barbara, Cal Gentry's motherless daughter. Lenny's locket had always been a mystery to Barbara and questions about it Seemed to embarrass him. Why should a huge man like Lenny wear a tiny gold locket suspended on a slender chain around his bull like neck? Barbara had never ceased to be curious, and today was no exception as she and Lennie rode her father's buckboard down the main street of Twin Forks.
Barbara Gentry
Why do you wear it, Lenny? Is it something your mother gave you a long time ago?
Lenny
No, ma'. Am.
Barbara Gentry
Then maybe your girl gave it to you. Have you ever had a girl, Annie?
Lenny
No, ma'.
Tonto
Am.
Barbara Gentry
You must have gotten it someplace.
Lenny
Yes.
Barbara Gentry
You know, I'm not the only one who wonders about you wearing that locket. I've heard the boys in the bunkhouse talking about it.
Lenny
Have you?
Barbara Gentry
They think that maybe that's the secret of why you're so strong. That you're just like Samson. If you ever lost the locket, you'd lose your strength. Is that right?
Lenny
No, ma', am, it ain't.
Barbara Gentry
Oh, Lenny, why don't you answer me?
Lenny
Well, I am Answering you, Ms. Barbara.
Barbara Gentry
No, you're not. You're just. Oh, here we are by the dry goods store. Stop.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Now?
Lenny
Sure. Oh. Oh, you couldn't.
Barbara Gentry
Now, wait for me, Lenny. I'll only be a little.
Lenny
Just a minute. Let me help you down.
Barbara Gentry
Thank you, Lenny, I. Oh.
Lenny
What's the matter?
Barbara Gentry
There's Ed Winters coming up the street. He'll try to stop me. He always does.
Lenny
Don't you Worry about him, Ms. Barbara.
Barbara Gentry
He'll do nothing of the kind. Situations like this must be handled diplomatically.
Lenny
What's that?
Barbara Gentry
You wouldn't understand. I detest Ed Winters. But you know as well as I do that his father owns the bank and dad owes the bank money.
Lenny
That ain't no reason for him to get smart with you. If he. Even so much as I can take
Barbara Gentry
care of Ed Winters. You just wait for me.
Lenny
Yes, you.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Well, if it isn't Barbara Gentry.
Barbara Gentry
Good afternoon, Ed.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Well, you're looking prettier than ever.
Barbara Gentry
Thank you for the compliment.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Say, how about you and me.
Barbara Gentry
I'm sorry, Ed. I'm in a hurry.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Oh, wait a minute.
Barbara Gentry
Is that the way you talk to all of your friends? By grabbing their arms? Let go.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Kind of snippy today, ain't you?
Barbara Gentry
Oddly enough, you're right, Ed. I'm going in here and buy some silk for a new dress. And I intend to spend the whole afternoon snipping it. Good afternoon.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Well, Ed, looks like the Gentry girl kind of put you in your place. Why, that little. I'll go in there.
Lenny
And do what? Oh, hel.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Lenny.
Lenny
Hello. Did you say you were gonna do something Winners?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
What business is it of yours, you big axe?
Lenny
I make it my business.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Yeah, I know you tag around after that Gentry girl, but I'm not as scared of you. I do what I please.
Lenny
Sure you do. Long as you don't bother Ms. Barbara.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
I suppose I gotta ask you before I speak to her.
Lenny
No, you ain't.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
And keep out of my way. I don't care how big you are. I can whip you any day in the week.
Lenny
Maybe. Would you like to try it?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
I wouldn't dirty my hands.
Lenny
Seems like you need to listen, Withers.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Not from you, you dirty.
Barbara Gentry
Hey. Hey.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
They're gonna take a horse. Say, Ed Withers ain't doing so bad as that. Lenny's just playing with him. Yeah. Wait as well try to stop a long horn steel.
Barbara Gentry
That did it. That did it.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
That late winter's out cold and Lenny's hair ain't even musk.
Barbara Gentry
What in the world? Lenny?
Lenny
Yes, sir.
Barbara Gentry
And Ed Winters. Why? Why?
Cal Gentry
Oh, he ain't hurt, miss.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
He'll be all right.
Barbara Gentry
What happened?
Cal Gentry
Well, Ed just made the mistake of using his chin to stop Lenny's fist.
Barbara Gentry
I told you to wait in the buckboard.
Lenny
This was a job that needed doing. Ms. Barbara and I.
Barbara Gentry
Come on, we're going home at once.
Lenny
Yes, get up there.
Narrator
That Ms. Barbara sure is, Lenny. Trained, ain't she?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Yeah, and it's a mighty good job.
Narrator
A few moments after the fist fight on the main street of Twin Forks, an Indian rode a paint into a small grove of cottonwood trees a short distance from town.
Cal Gentry
Fighting main street of town.
Tonto
That so? Who was fighting?
Cal Gentry
Ed Winters, son of banker, and Lenny from Gentry Ranch.
Tonto
Lenny and Ed Winters, huh? I don't need to ask what the result was. Winters has had a good beating coming to him for a long time. What caused it?
Cal Gentry
Winters talked to Gentry girl and Lenny not like it.
Tonto
I don't blame him.
Cal Gentry
Big crowd watch fight. When it over, they leave. Then Tanta sees something on ground, pick it up.
Tonto
What was it?
Cal Gentry
It gold. Lenny always wear it round neck.
Tonto
You mean Lenny's locket. He must have lost it during the fight.
Cal Gentry
Him gone when me find it. So me bring it here.
Tonto
Let me see it.
Cal Gentry
Tado.
Tonto
This is Lenny's locket. I've seen it around his neck dozens of times. This is the first time I've ever examined it.
Cal Gentry
That block of big medicine make him strong?
Tonto
No, Todo, I don't think this has anything to do with Lenny's physical strength. Although some people like to believe that story.
Cal Gentry
Oh, why him keep it?
Tonto
Probably for some sentimental reason.
Cal Gentry
You open it?
Tonto
Yes, I. Well, I've known Lenny for several years. I never thought.
Cal Gentry
Oh, we not keep it.
Tonto
Oh, no, of course not. We wait till after sundown, then ride out to the Gentry ranch and return it to Len.
Narrator
And just as Tonto had brought the news of the fight on the main street of Twin Forks, another man who had witnessed it was riding in the opposite direction to tell the same story. He spurred his mustang along the rocky trail which led through Blackstone Canyon. Finally, he reined up before a small cabin that was well hidden in dense underbrush.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Oh, you close,
Narrator
Pete
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Blank. Where you been? In town. Did you look over that bank layout like I told you to? No, boss, I couldn't. I didn't have time. You didn't have time? I suppose you had more important things to do. No, not that. There was a fight right across the street from the bank and I stopped to watch it. Oh, you stopped to watch a fight. What kind of a gang have I got here anyway? If I want anything done right, I better do it myself. But, boss, you know I can't show myself in the daylight. I'm gonna spot this broken nose of mine in a minute. So I send you to look over a bank job and what happens. Wait. Let me tell you about this fight I saw. I don't care anything about it. Yes, you do. One of the armors in this scrap was tall, real tall, over six feet, and big chest on him like a bull. He's got black, curly hair and blue eyes that kinda squint. I tell you, I.
Cal Gentry
What?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Yeah, boss, that sounds. Shut up. Are you sure, Link? I saw him, didn't I? With mourn eyes. Oh, that big critter's still alive, huh? Right here in Twin Forks. Yeah, he's punching cows on a ranch near you.
Tonto
Yeah?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Where?
Cal Gentry
Top hand for a gent, you know pretty well. Cal Gentry.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Gentry.
Tonto
Can you imagine that?
Cal Gentry
He working for Gentry and I.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Shut up, Pete. You blab too much.
Cal Gentry
Well, what do you think of it, Boss?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Couldn't be better. You've heard of killing two birds with one stone, ain't you?
Tonto
Nah.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Are you meeting Gentry tonight? Sure. How do you know he'll show up? He'll be there. Oh, by the way, did you find whether that banker's kid. What's his name? Ed Winters. And he ain't no kid. Never mind that. Is he still sweet on the Gentry girl? Sure. That's what the fight was about. The big fellow almost killed him. He packs a Stiff punch.
Tonto
Good.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
If everything works out tonight, it'll be one of the last punches he'll ever throw.
Narrator
And at this same time, Lenny was entering the living room of the Gentry ranch house. As usual, the big man's steps were slow and deliberate, even though he anticipated his emotions employer's angry outburst.
Cal Gentry
Lenny, what's this I hear about you in a fight this afternoon?
Lenny
I guess you heard right, Cal.
Cal Gentry
Well, I don't like it. Barbara tells me you almost broke Ed Winter's neck.
Lenny
I guess I did hit him a bit too hard.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Why?
Lenny
Well, the critters started to shine up to Ms. Barbara.
Cal Gentry
And I suppose you didn't approve.
Lenny
Nope.
Cal Gentry
Lenny, Ed Winters happens to be the son of the man who owns the bank. The bank that holds a mortgage for $10,000 on this ranch. The bank that only three days ago took a second mortgage for 5,000. And you beat Ed Winters into a pulp.
Lenny
You ain't figuring on paying off those mortgages with Barbara, are you, Cal?
Cal Gentry
No, of course not, but. Oh, what's the use? You wouldn't understand.
Lenny
Things are breaking kind of tough for you, ain't they, Cal?
Cal Gentry
Worse than that, Lenny. Did you ever hear of a man named Bet Cummings?
Lenny
Pat Cummings. An outlaw, wasn't he?
Cal Gentry
I think so. An outlaw? Killed two or three sheriffs some years ago. He's a small, misshapen man with a broken nose.
Lenny
Nope. I don't think I know any Bat Cummings that looks like that.
Cal Gentry
Well, if you really want to do something for Barbara and me, too, save your strength to manhandle Ed Buzzard if you ever see him.
Lenny
Is he causing you any trouble, Cal?
Cal Gentry
Plenty. But there's nothing you can do. That'll be all, Lenny. I've got some work to do.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Sure.
Lenny
I. I just want to ask you one thing.
Cal Gentry
Yes, Lenny, what is it?
Lenny
In that scrap up in Twin Forks, I lost my locket. Can I go back tonight and look for it?
Cal Gentry
If it weren't so serious, it'd be funny. I'm worried about losing a ranch and you're worried about a lost locket.
Lenny
Yes, Lenny.
Cal Gentry
You can go back and look for it after the evening chores are done.
Lenny
Thanks, cow. Thanks a lot.
Narrator
In the soft half light of a rising moon, Lenny walked slowly toward the corral where his horse was.
Tonto
Lenny, what did. Come here.
Lenny
Mash man and an engine. Who are you?
Tonto
I thought you'd remember me, Lenny. We met before.
Lenny
The Lone Ranger. Dado.
Tonto
That's right.
Lenny
What are you doing here?
Tonto
Tado found your locket this afternoon after the fight and we brought it back to you.
Lenny
Here, my locket. Oh, thanks. Thanks.
Tonto
I knew how much your prize.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
All right. Your chance for each. All of you.
Tonto
Somebody behind us tottle.
Lenny
They've got us covered, right?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
You've been big lout. I don't know who your friends are.
Lenny
I know who you are.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Shut up. I'll plug the first one of you that makes a move.
Narrator
The curtain falls on the first act of our Lone Ranger story. Before the next exciting scene. Please permit us to pause for just a few moments.

Lenny
It.
Narrator
Now to continue our story. In the deep shadows close to the corral on Cal Gentry's ranch, the Lone Ranger, Tonto and Lenny are faced with the menacing guns of three outlaws.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Now turn around slow. All three of you. Put your hands over your shoulders.
Tonto
I do what they say.
Cal Gentry
Maybe we jump them out.
Tonto
Until I give the word.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Hurry it up and cut out that talk. Don't try anything sudden or we'll blaze away. Look, boss, one of them is matched. Well, so he is. I reckon the big fella ain't improved his company none.
Lenny
Why, you dirty little.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Here we are.
Tonto
Well, what do you want?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
That's my business. Drop your guns out of your holsters. Slow like.
Tonto
Come and get them.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
All right, Lank. Go on. Nothing doing, boss.
Cal Gentry
I'm not getting near him.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Well, never mind. Just watch him. You two boys stand guard. Like it back? I won't be long. Shoot. If they make a sudden move.
Lenny
We will.
Cal Gentry
Better not try it.
Lenny
Mangy sidewinders. They've been blackmailing poor Cal Gentry.
Tonto
They have? For what?
Lenny
Oh, it's something he did a long time ago. He didn't even know he was making a mistake.
Tonto
Those cooks seem to know you.
Lenny
They do. Dreaded.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Ain't nothing needs talking about. You three keep still. Hey, Lank, the boss is coming back again.
Tonto
Good.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Didn't take him long. Hey, boss, you get what you went after? I always get what I go after. Now, we get the horses and take these three long with us. I'll get them. You then. Your horses.
Tonto
They don't need going after. They'll come if we call.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Well, then call them.
Tonto
Yes.
Cal Gentry
Silver Hump Scout.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Them's prime horses. Maybe we can use them.
Cal Gentry
Here's our horses.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Are we ready to get going now, boss?
Tonto
Yeah. Not yet.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Now, Totto, hide them. Silver, look out. Watch that white one. He's slinging hoofs like a wood chopper. I'll stop him.
Tonto
Oh, you don't.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Stand back, boys.
Barbara Gentry
Get out of it.
Lenny
Make a break.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Take Lenny.
Cal Gentry
Oh, shoot.
Tonto
Tunnel. He's got Lenny.
Andrew Rines (Podcast Host)
Hi.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Taylor.
Lenny
Get the bag.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Oh, shoot.
Tonto
They're using Lenny as a shield.
Cal Gentry
Ah, me see him, honey.
Tonto
What's the matter, Daddy? Silver, we're not riding yet.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Hold it, Tunnel.
Barbara Gentry
What was the gunfire? Who masked? An outlaw.
Tonto
The outlaws just left Lenny. He went with them.
Barbara Gentry
No, no, I don't believe.
Tonto
Not from choice. Are you Ms. Gentry?
Barbara Gentry
Yes, I. But.
Tonto
Come on. Where's your father?
Barbara Gentry
He was in the living room working.
Tonto
Take me to him. Where were you?
Barbara Gentry
In the bedroom. Who were you?
Tonto
I'll have time for that later.
Barbara Gentry
I. I don't understand.
Tonto
Where's the living room? Please hurry.
Barbara Gentry
Straight ahead. Dad must have heard the shooting.
Bluff (Host/Advertiser)
Which door?
Barbara Gentry
That one, dad.
Tonto
Well, they knocked him out. Here, I'll help you.
Cal Gentry
I'm all right. Coming to now.
Barbara Gentry
Here, sit here. Dad. But who did this to you?
Cal Gentry
Never mind. Barbara Maskman. Who are you?
Barbara Gentry
I don't know who he is, dad, but I think he's trying to help us.
Tonto
Lenny.
Cal Gentry
Where's he?
Tonto
The outlaws forced him to ride with him.
Cal Gentry
Yes. I'm kind of confused.
Barbara Gentry
I'll ride into Twin Forks and get a doctor.
Cal Gentry
Oh, no, child. I don't need a doctor. But I would like to have something hot to drink. Could you fix it for me?
Barbara Gentry
Of course, dad. Right away. It'll only take a minute.
Cal Gentry
Excuse me. Maybe that wrap on the head affected my eyesight. Seems like I can see an Indian standing over there.
Tonto
It is an Indian. Mr. Gentry, my friend Toto.
Cal Gentry
I don't know your names, either of you.
Tonto
Names aren't important.
Cal Gentry
How do you happen to be here in my house?
Tonto
Well, we rode out here this evening to see Lenny. Toto found his locket. We were returning it.
Cal Gentry
Oh, yes. He told me about losing it.
Tonto
You were robbed, weren't you?
Cal Gentry
In a way, yes. Blackmail's a better word.
Tonto
Tony and I are going to trail those men. Anything you can tell me about them will help.
Cal Gentry
Well, if you're trailing them, I'm going with you.
Tonto
You'd better wait till you feel better. Oh, tell me, Mr. Gentry, how could they blackmail you?
Cal Gentry
It's something I've never told anybody.
Tonto
Has it anything to do with Lenny?
Cal Gentry
Lenny? Of course not. Well, guess as long as you've dealt yourself in the game, I might as well show you my hand.
Tonto
What is it?
Cal Gentry
Well, I'll tell it quick before Barbara gets back.
Tonto
Is she part of it?
Cal Gentry
She's everything to me and to the story. It happened almost 16 years ago this winter. I just built this place. Then my wife died. I was just batching along here all alone, not caring much about anything. Then one night, right in the middle of a rainstorm, there came a knock at the door. Who is it? Why don't you talk plain enough to understand?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
What do you want? You kill Gentry?
Cal Gentry
Yeah.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
I need your help, and I need it bad.
Cal Gentry
What for?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
You know there's a war between the nesters and the cattlemen over on the other side of the canyon.
Cal Gentry
I've heard about it.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
They burned down my house over there, killed my wife. Now they're after me.
Cal Gentry
You want a hole up here, is that it?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
No. I'm going south. I can beat them across the border. But I can't take this with me.
Cal Gentry
What do you mean?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Here, you hold it.
Narrator
Her?
Cal Gentry
You mean it's a baby?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Yeah.
Cal Gentry
You can't leave a baby here. I don't know anything about babies.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
I've got to leave her someplace. Them cattlemen are on the proud. They're after us Nesters. I don't blame them.
Cal Gentry
I don't want any Nestor's child cluttered up my house. Here, take her back.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Can't do it. There's four of us riding south and we gotta travel light.
Cal Gentry
Oh, wait, wait. At least tell me your name.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
It's Cummins. Bad Cummins. But you don't need to hang that handle on that kid. So long. Get up there.
Barbara Gentry
Come on, boy. Get up.
Cal Gentry
A baby? Me with a baby? Now, what in the.
Lenny
No, no, no, no.
Cal Gentry
Wait a minute, young man.
Narrator
Don't yell at me.
Cal Gentry
I don't like this any more than you do. And by gee, Hossefhet, I'm gonna give you to someone else just as doggone soon as I can.
Tonto
But I didn't get rid of her.
Cal Gentry
I couldn't. Little jigger started making eyes at me right the next day. Then she'd grab hold of my finger and hang on real tight. Kinda grabbed onto my heart too, I guess. And inside of a month, I was raising her. Even picked out a name for the tyke Barbara might have known you'd figured out. Hey, it's Barbara. It's something I've never told her. She thinks I'm a real pa. That my wife was her mother.
Tonto
You've never told because of bad Cummings?
Cal Gentry
Do you blame me? I've heard of the critter several times, and it was always bad. When he left here, he went on the prod for good. Killed a couple of sheriffs.
Tonto
Tell me, how did this man look like the one who left the baby with you?
Cal Gentry
Cummings? He's small, kind of twisted like. And he's got a broken nose.
Tonto
Yes, I saw him tonight.
Cal Gentry
This is the third time I've seen him in the last two months. He showed up here after all these years and threatened to tell Barbara he was a real pa. I couldn't let her in for news like that, so. So I paid off.
Tonto
How much?
Cal Gentry
5,000 each time. I mortgaged my place to get the cash. Tonight I was supposed to meet him down by the canyon trail at midnight, but he showed up here early and hit me over the head. Well, now you know everything, stranger.
Tonto
Just one thing more. What does Lenny have to do with all this?
Cal Gentry
Lenny? Why, nothing at all. Just a cowpoke that drifted in here a few years ago. Worked for me ever since. Thinks a lot of Barbara. Tries to protect her all the time.
Tonto
Yes, I know he does.
Barbara Gentry
Here's some hot tea, dad. See if it makes you feel any better.
Cal Gentry
Oh, thank you, Charlie. I'm sure it will.
Tonto
I think Tano and I had better be going. We have some outlaws to trail.
Cal Gentry
No, wait. Don't forget, I'm going with you.
Tonto
Do you feel strong enough?
Cal Gentry
Oh, it'll take more than a wrap on the noggin to put me out. And some more of that tea. Come on. I'm ready.
Barbara Gentry
Where are you going?
Cal Gentry
After the arm bracelet or holding Lenny?
Barbara Gentry
I'll go with you.
Cal Gentry
No, no, Barbara, I don't.
Tonto
Why not let her come along, Mr. Gentry? We'll keep her out of danger.
Barbara Gentry
Of course I'm coming.
Tonto
We'll have to hurry. If we don't get started soon, the trail will be too cold for even Tano to pick up.
Cal Gentry
All right, come on.
Narrator
A few hours later, the Lone Ranger, Tonto and Cal Gentry and Barbara picked their way along the trail that led to the outlaws canyon hideout. Suddenly, Tonto called a halt.
Cal Gentry
Trail same men walk. Maybe better we do same easy Sunday.
Tonto
Yes, I think you're right, Tado. We'll go ahead on foot. Shall we go? You and Barbara wait here with the horses. We don't know what we'll find, but if we need you, we'll call. Come on, Tado.
Cal Gentry
How much longer are we gonna stall around here?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Why don't you put a slug through
Cal Gentry
this big armory and let's get moving?
Lenny
Yeah, why don't you do that, Chris? I'm no good to you now, am I?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
You're good for me to look at
Lenny
a little while longer.
Tonto
You big ape.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Think after all these years I find you working on the Gentry ranch. It's really gonna be a pleasure to beef you.
Lenny
You didn't have those guns on me.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
You wouldn't do nothing with those hands tied together. Hey, boss, look there.
Tonto
What is it?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
An engine and a mask, man. Coming up the trail, Hank. Yeah? Keep a gun on this hombre. I'll cover the window. Get your rifle, Pete. You can pick them all from the door here. There they are. Start pumping. What's the matter with you? They broke. I can break this window and do more with a six gun than you're doing.
Cal Gentry
Hey, that light's coming up for close.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Keep shooting. Oh, my hand. Oh, that rifle. He's got you covered from both sides.
Cal Gentry
I gotta do it, boss.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Me too.
Cal Gentry
They're all here.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Totto.
Tonto
There's Lenny. His hands are tied.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Help him, huh?
Tonto
Fine bunch of outlaws.
Cal Gentry
We heard the shooting. What's happened?
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Why you watch out for gun. Him got gun.
Barbara Gentry
Go.
Lenny
No, you won't,
Tonto
Gentry. Lenny jumped in front of Barbara and took the bullet.
Barbara Gentry
Lenny.
Tonto
Keep those men covered, Tuttle.
Cal Gentry
Ah, Lenny. Is he hurt bad?
Tonto
Yes, I'm afraid so.
Barbara Gentry
Oh, Lenny.
Lenny
Locket. My locket. It's for you, Ms. Barbara.
Tonto
He wants you to have his locket, Barbara. Here. Easy, Lenny. I'll take it off that. All right, Lenny?
Lenny
You're. You're. Pa. Miss Barbara.
Cal Gentry
Cows is the best, Pa. Of course, Lenny.
Barbara Gentry
But he's.
Tonto
Yes, he's gone. He died before he could tell you.
Barbara Gentry
Tell me what?
Tonto
I think the answer's inside the locket you're holding in your hand, Lenny.
Barbara Gentry
Locket? What?
Cal Gentry
Open it, Barbara.
Barbara Gentry
Three pictures. Man, woman and a baby.
Tonto
Do you recognize them?
Barbara Gentry
The man. Why? It's Lenny.
Tonto
The woman's his wife. The baby could be you, Barbara.
Barbara Gentry
Me?
Cal Gentry
You mean Lenny was Barbara's real father?
Tonto
I'm sure of it. We'll find out soon enough. You over there. Tell your story and tell it straight.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
Yeah, you're right. The night Vat Cummins house is fired, I swiped his kid. He thought the kid and the ma were both burned.
Cal Gentry
Then you're not bad, Cummings.
Outlaw Boss / Bad Cummins
No, that was his handle. The umbrella called Lenny. We were all on the prod together. And somehow he found out about the kid being with you. So he turned straight and disappeared. I didn't know where he was until I found him working for you.
Cal Gentry
Poor Lenny. A secret he couldn't tell because he was outside the law.
Barbara Gentry
I don't care what he was. I'm proud of him.
Tonto
You have reason to be, Ms. Barbara.
Cal Gentry
And I'm proud too, child.
Barbara Gentry
I guess there never was a girl as lucky as I've been to have had two fathers all these years.
Tonto
Guard the prisoners. Totto. I'm going to Twin Forks and get the sheriff.
Barbara Gentry
Who is that man?
Cal Gentry
The man with the mask and that Lone Ranger.

The original script’s tone balances suspense, sentimentality, and the archetypal heroism of the Lone Ranger series. The dialog is direct, earnest, and laced with the colorful expressions of the old West. Relationships hinge on deeds more than words, and characters’ motivations are revealed in moments of risk and revelation.
“Lennie’s Locket” is a tale of hidden pasts, redemption, and quiet love, where the symbolic locket is the key to deeper truths and family bonds. The episode highlights the Lone Ranger’s knack for unraveling justice not just for the law, but for the heart. It offers classic dramatic Western storytelling, combining memorable characters, a twisty plot, and a moving finale that echoes far beyond its original radio broadcast.
