Now, the Cisco Kid in our exciting story, Lightning on the draw. By supplying the markets of the country with beef, many cattlemen of the Old west grew wealthy. Most of these cattlemen were honest. A few, like Race McCollum, were dishonest. But if Race was crooked, so too was he shrewd. A big, hearty, friendly, appearing man, he never did anything himself the law could hold him for. For example, take the day race McCollum was standing outside the cafe in the

town of Cattle Crossing.

[Narrator]

A few feet away, his hired gunman, Waldo Sykes, sat whittling his back against the building. Presently, a cattleman, Herman Candles approaches.

[Race McCollum]

Howdy, Herman. Well, ain't this unusual, you coming to town on a weekday?

[Waldo Sykes]

Yeah, maybe. But I come in, McCullum, to let the word get around that the next human coyote that rustles any of my cattle, he's going to get itself filled plum full of lead.

[Race McCollum]

Well, I don't blame you, Herman.

[Waldo Sykes]

Maybe you'll help spread that word.

[Race McCollum]

Why, sure I will.

[Waldo Sykes]

Be sure the word gets around among your own hired hands, too, McCullum.

[Race McCollum]

Now, just what do you mean by that, Herman?

[Waldo Sykes]

You can figure it out yourself. But if I lose any more of my cattle, there's going to be gunplay, and it might be in your direction. Take that,

Waldo.

[Waldo Sykes]

Yeah, I heard him right. He sure did talk right up, didn't he?

[Race McCollum]

You talked too much. How you feeling today, Waldo?

[Cisco Kid]

I reckon I feel pretty good.

[Race McCollum]

Herman's got a mighty quick temper, Waldo. Wouldn't take much to make him go for his gun.

[Cisco Kid]

Uh huh.

[Waldo Sykes]

If I was to walk past his table in that cafe, I might bump into it.

[Race McCollum]

Ain't a man in the country can beat you on the draw, Waldo. So you can always let the other hombres start his draw first.

[Cisco Kid]

Reckon so, Race. All right.

[Race McCollum]

I'll go over across the street and stand near the sheriff's office where he can see me.

[Waldo Sykes]

I'll go into the cafe. Now that Herman Candlest hombre's getting to know too much. Hey. Hey. Watch where you're going. My error, partner. My era. You're doing that on purpose, Ikes think so. You're sneaking, skulking. Boss Ray McCallum put you up to it, I reckon. I ain't gonna stand here and have you race a snake. You you bothered hit me in the face with you. Hell, what are you going to do about it, Candace? You're wearing guns, but maybe you're yelling. All right, go for him sakes. Go for him. Yeah. Reckon all you ombre in here saw Herman Candace go for his guns first. Just remember that when you're called on in court. But why that gunman killed Senor Herman,

Cisco, I do not know, Pancho. That is why we are now riding to the town of Cattle Crossing. Find out.

[Waldo Sykes]

Herman was a good friend.

[Cisco Kid]

No, see, he was.

[Waldo Sykes]

And somebody tell Fan said they let the gunman go.

[Cisco Kid]

She. Well, that is what I understand. Also, witnesses testified the gunman shot in self defense. But I believe there is more to the matter than was brought out in court. What is the matter?

[Waldo Sykes]

Pancha thinks so, too.

[Cisco Kid]

We will see what the sheriff has to say about it.

[Waldo Sykes]

You know, this town looks just about the same, Cisco.

[Cisco Kid]

Just about the same about the same. Who is this hombre walking out in the street to meet us? Panch not know.

[Waldo Sykes]

This hombre looked tough though. Hey, wait a minute here too.

[Cisco Kid]

Oh, they have a whole.

[Waldo Sykes]

Ok. Who are you and what are you doing in this town?

[Cisco Kid]

I do not like your manner. Ombre. Stand to one side.

[Waldo Sykes]

Don't try to ride me down, stranger. Get that horse back there. Oh, devil. Ho, ho, ho, hombre.

Anyone strikes my horse, he strikes me.

[Waldo Sykes]

Let's see how you like this. Is there any water in that creek bed? Fine it is Cisco. He's a good pool of water in the creek bed. Then put that pool of water to use. Hey, hey. Look out what you're doing? Put me down, you. I'm going to put you down, Omri. Down in that pool of water. Hey, come on, Joe.

[Race McCollum]

Let us go.

[Waldo Sykes]

You throw me in the water, huh? That signs that hombres death warrant just as sure as my name's Waldo Sykes.

[Cisco Kid]

Then you think, Senor Sheriff, this hombre, Race McCollum is behind that killing of say, your Hammond?

[Waldo Sykes]

Yeah, that's right, Cisco. Waldo Sykes has killed three men in this county. I've had him in court on each one of them. And each time Sykes walked out a free man. Cause he always drew last self defense. Exactly. As for race McCullum, well, his herds that cattle have grown mighty fast. No question in my mind but what he heads a gang of cattle rustlers. But there again I can't prove it. Helps you get the approved thing.

Well, I'd appreciate your help. This cold, Sherwood. I want to get this here county straightened out. Sooner the better. But from now on, Cisco, you're gonna have to watch out every second for that buzzard Sykes. Cause he'll be gunning for you.

I will keep my eyes open, Senior Sheriff. Yep. Let's be going, Pancho.

[Waldo Sykes]

Yeah, let's be going, Cisco.

Let us pretend we know nothing about this county or its people. Let us tell him frankly we were friends of Senor Herman. And ask his help in finding out the real reason why Senor Herman was shot down.

very smart to go to the cattle rustlers. Apparently, the sheriff can pin Nothing on Race McCollum by the usual methods. So we will try this method. And we might discover, Pancho, that race McCollum ordered the killing of Senor Herman.

[Waldo Sykes]

It wasn't murder, Cisco. Waldo Sykes killed Herman. But he had to kill him. It was self defense.

I know that is the story, senor, but I am not satisfied.

Because Pancho and I have heard of you. That you have influence in this county.

All right. All right, you hombre. Sit down and shut up. Now, the boss wants us all to open up on Cisco and his partner. Now when I cough, that'll be your signal, everybody. Poor old lady's got it. Cisco and his partner got it all right. Between the bunch of us, we sure ought to get him. Pants. Not like this. Very well, Cisco. I'll hear it tonight.

Well, it will be dangerous, Poncho. No doubt, no doubt. But I think that Tonight these race McCullum Hombre will overplay his hand. Here we are. Now. Here we are. Here we are. Perhaps you'd better wait out here for me.

[Waldo Sykes]

Cisco, why don't you go with Cisco?

You said you would have information for us about the real reason for the killing of Senor Herman Condlis. Have you that information now?

[Race McCollum]

Well, you sure got your nerve with you, Cisco. But I don't mind telling you, since you ain't going to leave here alive, I ordered Waldo here.

[Waldo Sykes]

Tell him nothing, Race. Watch out, Pancho. To the door.

Blast it all. Cisco shot out the lamps. Get him, boys. Oh, no, no. Hold that shooting, you fools. There's no sense shooting in the dark. Now I got you, Cisco. You only think you have. All right. Mind you, I was out of here get out myself. I thought you had left Pancho. They have caught Pancho. Very well. I will go back in there after him.

Amused, McCollum told Cisco to return to his ranch house that night, which Cisco and Pancho did. When McCollum ushered them into a room full of his henchmen, Cisco shot out the lights. He thought Pancho had made his getaway. But upon getting outside, he heard Poncho calling from within the house. Now

see, Pancho. I could have sworn Pancho was out of that house. There we got the fat one Race. Do not keep the fat one long one. Cisco. Get after you. Ah, he's run for cover. Like the yellow coyote he is.

[Race McCollum]

I will. Let's put that light out also, homie. The odds will be more even if we fight in the dark. What you think now? Umbre. Take your hands off Poncho. Umbre same for you. And you go. It's good Poncho helped you. Now you can help me best Poncho. But getting out that door Pancho thing we he have the right door before she stole. But this only a closet. What am I talking.
