Welcome to the Old Time Radio Westerns. I'm your host, Andrew Rines and I'm excited to bring you another episode absolutely free. This is one of over 80 episodes released monthly for your enjoyment. Now let's get into this episode.
Marlow
Here's adventure, here's romance. Here's the famous Robin Hood of the Old West.
Cisco
Cisco, he's sheriff.
Sheriff Haney
He is getting closer this way.
Marlow
Pancho Famano, the Cisco Kid. Now the Cisco Kid in our exciting story, the Posse Sheriff. Some sheriffs of the Old west went out after Desperado single handed. Others preferred the help of a posse. Of this latter class was Sheriff Haney, who was brave enough, but who loved an audience and who be it said in all respect, was a trifle rattlebrained. It was Sheriff Haney's bad luck that Wiley Mason should bring his gang of killers and bank robbers to the sheriff's county. It was even more his bad luck that the bandit should know the sheriff's weaknesses. As our story opens, Mason and his gang are just starting to ride to town.
Wiley Mason
Hey, Marlo. You too, Hank. Yeah, ride up here. Tell you what, Wiley, we're riding in to knock off that bank. Marlow, I want you and Hank to ride ahead and draw that sheriff downta town. How are we gonna do that? Go in the cafe. Somebody will spot you and carry word to Haney. He's a posse. Sheriff Marlow. Just the minute he thinks we're in this county, he'll start yelling for men to ride with him. All right, Wiley. Might be a good idea if you let the sheriff get a good look at you and Marlow. I know you got a weakness for watches and jewelry, but keep away from the store. I don't want to take any chances of you and Hank getting caught. Sure, sure, I'll keep away from the store, Wally. I get watches and jewelry. Enough with me. Got him in that last train, Rob. Just remember then, I'll be watching. And when you draw the sheriff and his posse out of the north end of town, me and the rest of the boys will ride in the south end. Now get.
Cisco
Cisco. Think the bandido Wiley Mason in this county?
Pancho
Cisco, if what we have heard is true, Wiley Mason is in this county.
Cisco
Pancho, you followed that bandido a long time though.
Pancho
Yeah, we have Chico. He's very clever at covering his tracks.
Cisco
Cisco, get him, though I hope we will, Pancho.
Pancho
I have a personal reason for wanting that bandido behind the bars. He shot down a good friend of mine back in Albacore.
Cisco
He's a bad bandido, Cisco.
Pancho
Another thing, amigo.
Cisco
Another thing, amigo.
Pancho
We must be very careful how we act in this county. This is Sheriff Haney's county, and he is very jumpy.
Cisco
See, Cisco? All Sheriff Haney want to do is arrest somebody. Make no difference if he's the wrong hombres.
Pancho
It's about the size of it, Pancho. There two riders are overtaking us. Pancho.
Cisco
That's fast.
Wiley Mason
Get out of my way, hombres.
Pancho
There's plenty of room in this trail right around us.
Sheriff Haney
He was in a hurry.
Wiley Mason
I will settle with you.
Cisco
Why did you let him tell you this, Cisco?
Pancho
Ah, he is merely spouting words. They mean nothing, Chico. I wonder who those hombres are. I think I've seen the one who did the talking, but I cannot praise him.
Cisco
Look, Cisco, the horse throws in your loud mouth.
Pancho
Hey, his horse shied suddenly at something. A rabbit or a gopher. A body's not hurt. He's getting on his horse again. That hombre did not get a broken leg. Three watches and several rings. Pick him up.
Cisco
Lose them out of the pocket, he supposed.
Deputy
See when he took that spill.
Pancho
Just what would he be doing with these watches on rings?
Cisco
Both of him. Give them back.
Pancho
No, no, Migo, we are not going to do that.
Cisco
No.
Pancho
When we get to town, we report this to Sheriff Haney and give him the watches and rings. Chances are they hom restore them. Maybe those hombres belong to W. Mason's gang. We'll find out, Poncho.
Cisco
We'll find out.
Pancho
Come on.
Cisco
Go. Go find out. Go.
Sheriff Haney
Tie this here net onto the lasso and I'll have you a fine weed. I'm fine. We can do. Hey, Sheriff. Don't bother me, Deputy. I'm making myself a snare for criminals. But these two of Wiley Mason's men over in the cafe. I threw this net over their heads and then I'll be. What? Yeah, I thought I'd get back quick and tell you. They're over there bragging about how you ain't man enough to run them out of town. Oh, they are, are they? Well, by thunder. We'll see about that, Deputy. I'll go over there and I'll. That is, we'll go over there. Here they come now, Sheriff, riding past. Well, I'LL just take my guns and my net and out. Hey, wait a minute, you ombre. Oh, one of them's got something in his hand, Sheriff. But look out. He's just throwing at me. How's that for good aim, Sheriff? Cry, you stern. You throw a rock through my window, will ye? Yeah, hoodlum, you. I'll show ye. Hey, boys, rattle around. I want a posse and a big one. Five Thunder. Any outlaw throws a rock through my winder's a dead duck.
Pancho
Pancho. I have just placed it. Hombre.
Cisco
Who is this for?
Sheriff Haney
Who?
Pancho
He's called Marlow. Marlo belongs to Wiley Mason's gang, and he has a liking for stealing watches and jewelry.
Cisco
If he hears. Just go. Wally may not be far away.
Pancho
No, he cannot be. Here's where another trail comes into the one we are riding on. Stop a moment, Pancho. I want to look at these trails. Fresh tracks here, Poncho. A number of riders came in on that other trail just a few moments ago.
Cisco
Bantidos.
Pancho
I have no way of knowing that. It is possible, though, for there are no ranchos in that direction. Also, the other two bandidos rode in from that same direction right into town. The north end of town. Poncho, let us ride up on that rise ahead and see what we can see. Come on, Diablo.
Cisco
Come on over. Go now. Go.
Sheriff Haney
Go.
Pancho
Wily Mason goes through a town for only one reason. To make trouble. There. I hope they have a hole. Do you see any riders, Pancha?
Cisco
Pancha see riders way, way ahead.
Pancho
One, two, three, five of them.
Cisco
Ooh.
Pancho
I cannot be sure, amigo, but the hombre in the lead sits his saddle as Mason does. I think it might be that bandido.
Cisco
Fine to think so, too, Cisco. Fine to think that one. Amazing Bandido.
Pancho
More riders coming from another direction where the sheriff Haney got the big posse with him.
Cisco
Cisco.
Sheriff Haney
Oh, Jeffrey.
Pancho
Buena say you, Sheriff, when it's dear, say you, Sheriff.
Sheriff Haney
Surround the boys. Don't let him get away. Put your gun.
Cisco
Sheriff Haney again.
Pancho
What nonsense is this? Do you not remember our sheriff, the Cisco Quino, Pancho?
Sheriff Haney
You bet I remember you, Cisco. But there's bandits in my county, and maybe you're with them. I can't take no chances. Get your hands up.
Pancho
Now listen to me, Sheriff. This is crazy.
Sheriff Haney
Get your hands up, I said. And come down off of them horses, both of you.
Pancho
Say as you wish, Sheri.
Cisco
See?
Pancho
As you wish.
Sheriff Haney
Taint that. I don't like you personally, Cisco. You neither, Pancho. But I got the law to uphold in this county, and I aim to uphold it. Search him, Deputy.
Pancho
I sure will, Sheriff. If you will take the trouble to look in that direction, you will see riders going into the north end of your town.
Cisco
You better search those hombres. No.
Sheriff Haney
Hey, hey, hey. Watch this. Watch this, Sheriff. And ring. I got you, Cisco.
Cisco
I got you plum cold.
Sheriff Haney
You been robbing some poor widow, have you?
Pancho
Sheriff, I can explain these watches and rings very easily.
Sheriff Haney
You'll explain in the jailhouse, Cisco. That Praulex plane watches and rings, by George.
Cisco
Put the handcuffs onto him.
Pancho
Do not know what you and this posse are doing out of town just as Wiley Mason and his gang are riding in. But I do know you better get back there in a hurry.
Sheriff Haney
I know what I'm doing. And don't you give me no order. Cisco, you're my prisoner now. Wait, Deputy.
Cisco
Yeah?
Pancho
I got an idea.
Sheriff Haney
I want to try out my new throw net. I'll capture Cisco with this over his head. Then you can handcuff him. Back up, Jeffrey. Back, back, back.
Deputy
I've had enough of this poncho. When he throws that net, there will be much confusion.
Pancho
We'll mount our horses and get out of here.
Sheriff Haney
All right, now, boys, I'll show you how this works. A man can't fight with a net over his head. Now. Now watch if Sam sails his go. Hey, hey, hey.
Pancho
Well done, Sheriff. You caught the deputy.
Sheriff Haney
Of hell. Hey, come back here. She SC under arrest. Ah. Shots. Open up on them, boys. Open up.
Wiley Mason
It worked, boys. The sheriff and his posse rode out looking for us. Now's the time to hit that bank. Now, you two stay outside on watch, and if that sheriff rides back into town, let me know. All right, Wiley. Rest of you hombres come into the bank with me. Oh, there. Draw your guns and come on. Jake, bring that burlap sack. All right, get your hands up. Stand back away from them counters. Shut up, you. Give me the combination. That's safe. Come on, come on.
Pancho
Nothing doing.
Wiley Mason
Oh, nothing doing, huh? I'll settle you. Umbrel, you open up that safe. Hey, Wally, couple of riders coming into town. One of them looks like a Cisco Kid. You sure of that, Marlo?
Pancho
Well, if it ain't Cisco.
Wiley Mason
It's his twin brother. I'll get that Maverick yet. All right, boys, never mind the safe. Clean out them tills quick. Then let's get out of here. I don't mind the sheriff, but that Cisco Kid something else again.
Cisco
Did you hear those shots, Cisco?
Pancho
See, Pancho? I did. I believe they came from the bank.
Cisco
Look, Cisco, hombres, commanded the bank.
Pancho
There he is, Wally.
Cisco
Hombre pointed us, Cisco.
Sheriff Haney
Let's go with them rifles, boys.
Cisco
Hey, bullets come close, see?
Pancho
Take shelter behind this stable, Pancho. We can look over the situation.
Sheriff Haney
Take your guns, buddy.
Pancho
Pancho, those puntiros may attack.
Cisco
He's quite amazing, Cisco.
Pancho
It is just who is amigo. He'll be very glad to shoot us down.
Cisco
He not shoot down what he not can see.
Pancho
You stay behind this stable for the time being and take a look and see what they are doing.
Cisco
Careful, Cisco. Bullet horse must get you.
Pancho
I will give that hombre something to think about this time.
Sheriff Haney
I got you, Cisco.
Pancho
You better be careful we do not get you, Bandido.
Sheriff Haney
I'm coming after you.
Pancho
Very well.
Cisco
Come on.
Sheriff Haney
Hey, Wiley. It's the sheriff and his posse coming back. All right, boys, let's get out of here.
Pancho
For once in his life, Sheriff Haney is arriving at the right time.
Sheriff Haney
Get there, boy. Come on, let's get him.
Cisco
But she's got the sheriff not right after the bandidos. He right here behind his table.
Pancho
Sheriff Henny, the bandiros you want are up by the bank. They are getting away. Surround them, boys.
Sheriff Haney
Surround them.
Pancho
Why are you stopping here?
Cisco
We not the bandidos.
Sheriff Haney
Hold them at gunpoint, boys, till I get my net out.
Pancho
Sheriff Henny, have you gone crazy? Those banters are getting away. The ones who robbed the bank. They may have killed someone there too.
Cisco
Yeah, we hear the shot, Shetty.
Sheriff Haney
One thing at a time is my motto. I'll take care of them in due course of time, Cisco. But you're first.
Pancho
Madre me? I have all the stupidity. Very well then. Pancho and I will go after them.
Sheriff Haney
Stand right where you are, Cisco. I ain't too sure, but. What? You ain't the ringleader of that gang. My net didn't work before, but this time. Get this thing off my head, Poncho.
Cisco
Hey, Pancho, help.
Sheriff Haney
No you don't. Grab him. Shut up.
Pancho
You are stuck craving, man.
Sheriff Haney
Grab him, I tell you. I'm making sure of two prisoners anyway.
Marlow
And so the killers ride calmly out of town while Sheriff Haney takes our friends prisoners. In just a moment we'll return to the Cisco Kid. Now back to the Cisco Kid in our exciting story of a posse. Sheriff. While Wiley Mason and his gang of bank robbers rode out of town, Sheriff Haney directed his posse to capture Sisko and Poncho. Raging mad, Cisco tried to direct the sheriff's attention to the fact that the bank had just been robbed. The sheriff paid no heed. Now out in the hills.
Wiley Mason
I sure wish Haney was sheriff of every county we ride into. It'd make things a lot easier. Bring that sack into the cabin, Marlo. I want to see how much of a hole we made. Sure will, Wally. Now pour down on the table. Yeah. That all of it? Looks like it. Fine hold, that is. Can't be more'n2 or $300 there. We're going back in there tonight after dark. This time we'll use dynamite on that safe. What about the Cisco Kid? What do you mean, what about him? Tonight'd be a mighty fine chance to get him out of the way, Wily. Yeah, it would at that. Now he's in jail. Sure, there'd be no trouble at all getting by that sheriff and walking right in and gunning down Sisko. Say, that ain't a bad idea, Marlow. Sisko's been following me for a long time now, and I'm getting sick of it. And you better kill it now while you got the chance. Hey, where's that sheriff's posse now? Last I saw him, it was heading due south after us, and we rode due north. Maybe if we rode back to town right now, Wiley, we could get Cisco and hit that bank again before the sheriff gets back.
Pancho
No, no, no.
Wiley Mason
I ain't gonna push our luck too far, Marlow. We'll wait till just before dark, and then we'll ride in by another trail just in case that sheriff should stumble on our track out here. Sure is going to be a pleasure to gun down that Cisco Kid.
Cisco
This walk up and down the cell just for mad?
Pancho
No, see, Poncho, Just about as mad as I've ever been in all my life.
Cisco
Neither she is haney.
Pancho
See? Question his courage for one moment. He has no more wisdom than a brook trout.
Cisco
Not so much, Cisco. That sheriff gets catched every time if he a broke crowd play around with.
Pancho
A prone head like a small boy while a bunch of deadly killers rides away under his very eyes. That is too much, Sheriff in the.
Cisco
Pase yard after the killers now, Cisco un Pancho hear them go see?
Pancho
But he had them right there, Pancho.
Cisco
Not do any good to walk up and down like this.
Pancho
Ah, you're right, amigo. No good waste of energy. Let's try the barge of this cell once more.
Cisco
We try the bar.
Pancho
Listen, huh? Fosse is coming back, bunch coming back.
Cisco
No bandido.
Sheriff Haney
It's too near dark to hunt for him anymore tonight, boys. Be here first thing in the morning.
Pancho
I'll go into office, deputy, see if.
Sheriff Haney
Anybody'S left any messages first you can go on home. Yeah, and I'll leave this here throw net here. Yeah, all right, Sheriff.
Cisco
Good night.
Deputy
Throw net. It gives me an idea punch of how we might be able to get out of here.
Pancho
See you, Sheriff.
Sheriff Haney
Yeah.
Pancho
You've come to ourselves for a moment with that throne net of yours. I would like to see it.
Sheriff Haney
George.
Cisco
Just go.
Sheriff Haney
Sure thing. Be right in.
Deputy
Care about seeing the throne at buncher. But the sheriff is proud of it. If I can get him to come near enough of these sad bars. Careful. Nothing. Aren't you careful?
Sheriff Haney
No smart electrics now, Cisco?
Pancho
Why, Sheriff, you know me well enough to know I would not attempt anything against a man like yourself.
Cisco
Smart man like you, Sheriff.
Pancho
I merely want to see that thrown out of yours. You know, that is a very clever idea.
Sheriff Haney
It ain't bad of a do say so myself. I don't like to shoot people, Cisco. So I figure I can capture him this way. It works like a lasso.
Pancho
Sure. Will you hand it to me so I can examine the knots?
Sheriff Haney
Well, all right. You see this knot?
Cisco
Grab him, Cisco.
Pancho
I have him, Pancho.
Sheriff Haney
Hey, look. I want gold mine.
Pancho
Say, Sheriff, after I get this gun of yours. Now. Cables are turned.
Sheriff Haney
You durned trickster.
Pancho
Cisco, unlock the cell door at once. At once, Sheriff. Not going to fool you for one second. Come on, unlock the door.
Sheriff Haney
Guess I got no choice.
Pancho
Take the other gun, Pancho. Yeah.
Cisco
Pancho takes Cisco now. Pancho, try to throw it on the sheriff.
Pancho
Sheriff, there's no time for that.
Wiley Mason
No.
Pancho
Into the cell, Sheriff.
Sheriff Haney
Cisco, I'll get even with you for this.
Pancho
I sure will. Whatever you say. But get into that cell now. May keep your throne at sheriff. It may give you comfort.
Cisco
He catch the flies with it there.
Pancho
We'll let you out later, Sheriff. For the time being, you can do no damage while you are in there. Come on, Poncho, let us go.
Cisco
It almost dark now, Chico. See?
Pancho
But there's still light enough to track these hombres, I would say, Poncho, we are almost to their hideout.
Sheriff Haney
Really?
Pancho
Well, up in the field, I think. He's not far ahead of us for the hole.
Cisco
Oh, loco ho, loco. Wabido. Nashi.
Pancho
I know their camp is just ahead of us, amigo.
Deputy
I can smell wood smoke.
Cisco
I can smell it too. We walk to the camp.
Pancho
Chisco say, have your gun ready, Chico.
Deputy
These bandidas will shoot first and ask questions afterwards. Now, come on, part it. Perhaps they're having their supper. Take a look around these big rocks.
Cisco
What do you see, Cisco? What do you see?
Pancho
Where do you see?
Deputy
No one is there, Pancho. There's no one is inside.
Pancho
He in the cabin.
Deputy
I hear no one. The horses have gone from the corral and back of the cabin. Come on. Be careful.
Cisco
Look at the cabin, sir.
Pancho
Camp is deserted, Pancho.
Cisco
Nobody's pack up and go.
Pancho
No, they have not packed up.
Marlow
See?
Pancho
There's much of their gear lying around. Come on, Pancho. Let's see if we can pick up their tracks again. Bring their horses out of the corral. And then they rode off in this direction, Pancho.
Cisco
They'll go back to the town, see?
Pancho
Now, why would they be going back to the town right after Mother Amir Wiley Mason would know. You and I are arrested and thrown into a cell. Chico Wiley Mason would like nothing better than to kill me. These tracks are fairly fresh. They started only a short time ago from here, so it'll be dark by the time they reach town.
Cisco
This with the sheriff in the cell, see?
Pancho
That is just the point, Pancho. Those hombres may walk into the cell block and kill the sheriff. Think they are killing me, Santo? Is he Diablo? First ride for all we are worth, amigo. We saved the sheriff's life.
Wiley Mason
Nobody around, Wally? Nope. Mighty sleepy town. Well, there's a jail right ahead of us. Oh, dark. Yeah, all dark. That sheriff wouldn't keep open at night anyway. Just the same, don't make any more noise than you have to, boys. We still gotta hit that bank. After we settle with Cisco, Marlow and me'll go in the jail. Rest of you hombres ride back to the bank and get things ready. Get in the back way if you can. Now, when we get in the cell block, Marlow, you light a match just so I can see what I'm doing. I'll gun down Cisco in the fat one. Shooting Omega racket, Wiley. Ah, no, not in there. It'll be muffled. We'll probably have to break in the store.
Marlow
No.
Wiley Mason
Black Thunder. Well, what do you know? Come on, Marlowe. That fool sheriff leaves his jail unlocked.
Pancho
Hey, hombre. So bulls like you can walk into a trap.
Wiley Mason
Hey. What? It's Cisco.
Pancho
That's just who it is, hombre.
Sheriff Haney
Let's get him, Marlowe.
Pancho
Very well, hombre.
Sheriff Haney
You want a fight?
Pancho
We will give it to you.
Cisco
I can see much but Poncho's swing. Pancho. This little wall.
Pancho
Better luck next time, Poncho. I think I know where this hombre is. See? I do two more good punches, the same place should do the trick.
Cisco
Cisco.
Sheriff Haney
Cisco.
Cisco
He's not the Robbery. Run away.
Pancho
Come back here you go, Cisco. Take care of you, Pantiro. In short order.
Sheriff Haney
Like this and like this. Hey, hey, hey, hey. What's going on in here?
Pancho
Take this over the deputy. Put the handcuffs on him, Frisco.
Sheriff Haney
How'd you get out?
Pancho
Never mind that now. The rest of these coyotes are getting ready to go into that bank again.
Sheriff Haney
Run for it, boys. They're after you.
Pancho
Ah, let them go for now. We can get them later. Meanwhile, we have the ringleaders sponsor.
Cisco
Got this one tight, Cisco.
Pancho
Why not? You up on your feet. Walk ahead of us.
Wiley Mason
Oh, easy, Cisco.
Pancho
Come on, move.
Cisco
Why don't you light the lamp too, Cisco?
Pancho
Ah, good for you. You. Poncho, open the door. Into the cell block. We'll take these prisoners into the jail.
Sheriff Haney
Now where in the blazes is that sheriff? Cuz I ain't sure that this here is right.
Pancho
You come out with us, you'll see. Deputy. Bring the lamp along, Poncho.
Cisco
Hey, Poncho. Bring the lamp you.
Pancho
Sheriff, we have two prisoners for you.
Sheriff Haney
Somebody get me out of this blasting thing.
Pancho
What is the matter now look, this guy, Sheriff.
Cisco
All tangled up in the neck mother of his.
Sheriff Haney
So he is. Get me out of here.
Pancho
See, Sheriff?
Sheriff Haney
Right away. I got to experiment with it. And dad blame it. Don't stand there laughing.
Pancho
Unlock the cell door, deputy. I always knew you usually caught the wrong man, Sheriff. But I did not know that someday you would cut your A, B, C. A, B, C. What are you muttering about, Pancho?
Cisco
Pancho tried to remember the alpha.
Pancho
The Alphabet.
Cisco
The alpha, you bet.
Pancho
Well, you know what comes after C, amigo?
Cisco
Fancy. I can think, Cisco.
Pancho
A for animal, C. B for bandido.
Cisco
Cisco catch the rest of them too.
Pancho
No, with the help of Sheriff Haney. C for catch. C. A, B, C. Now what comes after C, Poncho? A, B, C, D. That is right. D. Go on. E, G. F is right. Then come G. What comes after G? Oh, think harden that member. A, B, C, D, E, F, G, G. I don't know what comes after.
Cisco
G. Oh, now Pancho knows his very well.
Pancho
Then tell me what comes after G?
Cisco
After G. Whiz.
Sheriff Haney
Oh, Poncho. Oh.
Marlow

Notable Quote:
"What would he be doing with these watches on rings?" — Pancho Famano ([05:14])
Sheriff Haney, portrayed as brave but slightly scatterbrained, attempts to handle the situation by confronting Wiley Mason's gang. However, his lack of foresight allows the outlaws to exploit his weaknesses.

Pancho and Cisco engage in a cat-and-mouse game with Sheriff Haney and his posse. When confronted by the sheriff over possessing watches and rings, Pancho skillfully deflects suspicion, leading to a tense standoff.
Notable Quote:
"I can explain these watches and rings very easily." — Pancho Famano ([09:24])

Character Dynamics: The interplay between Pancho, Cisco, and Sheriff Haney adds depth to the narrative, showcasing alliances and conflicts that drive the plot forward.
