Andrew Rines
Welcome to the Old Time Radio Westerns. I'm your host Andrew Rines and I'm excited to bring you another episode absolutely free. This is one of over 80 episodes released monthly for your enjoyment. Now let's get into this episode.
Narrator
Here's adventure, here's romance.
Here's the famous Robin Hood of the old West.
Cisco Kid
Cisco, he shave.
Narrator
He is getting closer this way.
Pancho Famano, the Cisco Kid. Now the Cisco Kid in our exciting story, Shoot to Kill. For the most part, the cowboys of the old west were a happy go lucky roistering crew. Once in a great while, one of them went bad. And then there was blue blazes to pay. Take the case of Carlos Blake of the Double Bar Spread. A silent, bitter man who brooded much on his fancy wrongs and confided them strangely enough only to young hare brained Ricky Hart. Until one morning.
Carlos
Gonna lose your nerve, Kit?
Ricky Hart
Me? What are you talking about, Carlos? Of course not.
Carlos
I just want to make sure.
Ricky Hart
Robbing a store ain't much. Just as long as there ain't any killing.
Carlos
There's gonna be a killing.
Ricky Hart
What?
Carlos
But you old town Dustin refused me credit once. I ain't forgot it.
Ricky Hart
You didn't tell me that, Carlos. I guess I don't want to go through with this.
Carlos
Well, you're grown through with it, Ricky. I ain't letting you go to talk about this. You're gonna put on a mask, same as I do, and you're going into that store with me, Understand?
Ricky Hart
Yeah, sure, Carlos.
Carlos
When I tell you too, you're gonna get old Dustin's money out of them empty cans he keeps it in.
Ricky Hart
But how do you know that's where it is?
Carlos
Everybody knows. He don't trust the bank. I hung around outside one night and watched where he put the day's money. Well, you're going through with it, kid, or do I gun you down right here and now? Make up your mind.
Ricky Hart
I'm with you, Carlos. I want to make money just as much as you do.
Carlos
All right, then, let's get to that store.
Narrator
Get out.
Ricky Hart
Come on now, get up.
Cisco Kid
15, 17, 19, 20. And that's enough change money for this till Sarah, put the rest of it over in one of them empty cans, will you?
Sarah Dustin
Just as you say, Uncle Tom. But I wish you'd put that money in the bank. It makes me nervous to have so much of it right here in the store.
Cisco Kid
Safer here than it is in the bank, girl. I don't trust banks out here. Too many bank robberies.
Sarah Dustin
Well, what's to prevent anybody from holding up this store?
Cisco Kid
There's more money for them in the bank. Besides, nobody but you knows I keep my money in them cans.
Sarah Dustin
All right, your money. Here, I'll take it.
Cisco Kid
And the third reason is that most of the bad men in these parts know I'm a friend of the Cisco kids. That in itself is enough to keep them away.
Sarah Dustin
This Cisco Kid sounds like quite a man.
Cisco Kid
He sure is quite a man.
Sarah Dustin
Well, he couldn't be all you say he is, Uncle Tom. No man could.
Cisco Kid
Well, just you wait and see. Jiska wrote me that him and Ponce was riding in today and call around. You like him?
Sarah Dustin
I doubt it very much. These perfect men always turn out to have too many faults. This Cisco Kid is probably vain and conceited and boastful and, oh, everything else.
Cisco Kid
You just wait till you see him, Sarah.
Sarah Dustin
I'm waiting.
Cisco Kid
This might be Cisco and Pancho now. No, no, by thunder, it ain't. It's a couple of masked men. Sarah.
Carlos
Get him up, Dustin. You too, ma'am. And don't make no noise.
Narrator
Oh, no.
Carlos
Move away from them shells, Dustin, quick.
Cisco Kid
Why, you blasted coyote. Shut up.
Sarah Dustin
Don't talk back to them, Uncle Tom, please. Do as he says.
Carlos
Move, Dustin. I'll get that money, kid. Hustle.
Narrator
Yeah. Oh, no.
Cisco Kid
Oh, no.
Sarah Dustin
Don't take that.
Narrator
That's all the money we have.
Carlos
Keep your mouth shut.
Ricky Hart
Maybe I could leave a couple of hundred, huh, Carlos?
Carlos
Ah, yeah. Blabber mouth.
Narrator
Take it all.
Ricky Hart
All right.
Carlos
Now get out of here, kid. I'll cover you. Get going.
Ricky Hart
Yeah.
Cisco Kid
Carlos.
Ricky Hart
Huh?
Cisco Kid
I'll sure remember that.
Carlos
You'll remember nothing, Dustin. Not with these bullets. Now, you, ma'am, do any talking, and I'll come back and get you the same way.
Sarah Dustin
Oh, my heavens. Sheriff. Sheriff.
Ricky Hart
Sheriff.

Cisco Kid
Cisco, tell Pancho another story, huh?
Narrator
Ah, enough stories for now, Pancho. We must be getting on to with our good friend senior Tom Dustin.
Cisco Kid
But just one more story of the king. King who?
Narrator
King Arthur.
Cisco Kid
King Arthur and his good knight.
Narrator
No, no, Mego, not King Arthur and his good knight. King Arthur and his knights.
Cisco Kid
Oh, those knights. Brave knights, Cisco.
Narrator
Well, according to the legend, they were probably the bravest group of men who ever lived.
Cisco Kid
They not never afraid of nothing, huh?
Narrator
Ah, the hombre never lived, Chico, who was not afraid of something. No, but they went ahead and performed great deeds in spite of their fears. And that is true courage, Pancho.
Cisco Kid
Yes, true courage. Next time, Pancho be true courage.
Narrator
What do you mean next time you'll.
Cisco Kid
Be true courage, Pancho afraid the worry, Cisco. But the next time Cisco say, Pancho take the swim, Pancho be true courage, Pancho take the swim.
Narrator
Bueno, Pancho, Bueno. That would really be true courage. What have we here?
Cisco Kid
Look like the sheriff's party, Cisco.
Narrator
I believe that is what it is. Hold up, hold up. Chikov is not Sheriff Haney.
Cisco Kid
Oh, him?
Narrator
What is this, Sheriff Haney?
Cisco Kid
What is this? Sheriff not know nothing.
Ricky Hart
Well, I'll be a high jumping heer if it ain't Cisco. And grab him, boys, grab him.
Cisco Kid
Don't let him get away.
Narrator
Now just a moment, Sheriff.
Cisco Kid
I tell you, pull your gun.
Ricky Hart
Sure as blazes there the culprits. Get your hands up, Cisco.
Cisco Kid
By Judas, I'm.
Ricky Hart
Get your hands up.
Cisco Kid
Aye, that sheriff get more excited over nothing.
Narrator
Sheriff, listen to me. Stop waving that gun in my face and tell us what this is all about. What's it all about?
Ricky Hart
What's it all about? You know what it's all about.
Cisco Kid
Hold up.
Ricky Hart
At Tom Destin's store, Tom shot and killed.
Narrator
What is that, Santa Snow. Pan out, boys.
Ricky Hart
Don't you Make a false news.
Narrator
Now stop this forester. Sheriff, I do not know what you are doing over in this county. It does not matter right now. But Poncho and I had nothing to do with any hold up at Saint or Dustin's store.
Ricky Hart
Well, somebody did it, Cisco. That is, somebody did it. And I gotta have prisoners or revolver.
Cisco Kid
Or you'll be a high jumping heifer.
Narrator
Then go find the ones who did it. We are on our way into the town. We have not been here for several years.
Ricky Hart
A likely story, Siska. Likely story. I gotta arrest somebody. These ain't the ones, Sheriff. I told you oughta follow them tracks in the store. Ah, shucks.
Narrator
Come on, Poncho. Let us get to that store.
Cisco Kid
Get to the store.
Narrator
We will help you, Sheriff, if you wish. After we talk with someone who knows what happened. Up the auto count.
Cisco Kid
Wherever going out. Go, go. Oh boy. Hold it.
Carlos
We're safe enough up here. Well, you young squirt. I'd ought to gun you down.
Ricky Hart
What for? I ain't done nothing, Carlos.
Carlos
No, Nothing but calling out my name in that store. Ain't you got no brains?
Ricky Hart
I didn't know I called your name. Just habit, I guess. I sure didn't mean to.
Carlos
All right, I'll let it go this time. But don't do it again.
Ricky Hart
Well, I won't, Carlos. Hey, look down there in the valley.
Carlos
Where a bunch of riders, huh? That's a sheriff's posse, kid.
Ricky Hart
Can't be nothing else out after us, huh?
Carlos
Probably, but they're riding right away from us. Big posse too. Hey, I got an idea, kid. What with all them hombres out of town now, it'd be the time to hit that bank.
Ricky Hart
Hit the bank? You mean hold it up?
Carlos
What else do you think I mean? Sure, that's what we'll do. Might as well make a David while we're at it. Now, come on, let's go. And when we get into that bank, kid, shoot to kill.
Narrator
All right, here's the store. Come on, let's go in. Buenos de, senorita.
Cisco Kid
Buenos de, senorita.
Ricky Hart
Hello.
Sarah Dustin
Who are you?
Narrator
I am the Cisco Kid. This is mi componero Pancho.
Cisco Kid
Mi compone Pancho.
Narrator
We just heard this sad news from the sheriff. Senorita. We are sorry.
Sarah Dustin
A terrible shock, of course.
Narrator
But Pancho and I will do all we can to help. Senor Dustin was our good friend.
Cisco Kid
We like Senor Dustin, senorita.
Sarah Dustin
Thank you. But I don't know what you can do. The sheriff's already out with a posse. Now.
Narrator
Si, senorita we know. Did you tell the sheriff the whole story?
Sarah Dustin
Well, I didn't have a chance, Cisco. Just as soon as I told him Uncle Tom had been shot down. He rushed into the store, took one look and rushed out again, yelling for a posse.
Narrator
Suppose you tell us this story, if you will, senorita.
Sarah Dustin
Well, about all I know is that two men came in, masked men. One of them called the other Carlos.
Narrator
Carlos?
Sarah Dustin
Yes. And then they took the money out of the tin cans that were on that shelf. And then the one called Carlos shut.
Cisco Kid
Down Uncle Tom not cry. Sangrid. Make Pancho feel like crying too.
Narrator
Pancho, control yourself. Madrea. What is that?
Cisco Kid
It's down the street, Cisco.
Ricky Hart
Look.
Narrator
Look out the door.
Sarah Dustin
That's one of the men, Cisco.
Cisco Kid
And they're up the bank. No.
Narrator
Are you sure of that, senorita? Yeah.
Ricky Hart
And there's the other one. The same, too.
Narrator
We will be back later till you read them. Come, Pancho.
Cisco Kid
Here. She's gold.
Narrator
All right. Diablo, after those bandidos.
Cisco Kid
Logo after the bandidos. Big crawl ahead. She's go.
Narrator
See? The trail splits at the foot of that grove. Fajo, you ride one trail, I will ride the other.
Cisco Kid
Why do you think they want to derive?
Narrator
See, between the two of us, we should keep those bandiros in sight, see? Do not try to close with them. No, they're death's written in. They will shoot to kill. They come out on your trail, stay well behind them. Fire three shots in the air. It's a signal to me.
Cisco Kid
Three shoots.
Carlos
Get ready now, kid. He's riding up the trail. He'll come right under this bluff.
Ricky Hart
Is it. Is it that Cisco kid, Carlos?
Cisco Kid
No.
Carlos
Cisco's gone up the other trail. I got a good look at him from the ledge back there. This is the fat one.
Ricky Hart
What you want me to do?
Carlos
When the fat one rides under this bluff, I'm gonna drop down on him. You jump down too, to one side. Stand ready to gun whip him.
Ricky Hart
I don't like all these killings.
Carlos
Hey, Milk's up. Shut up. We ain't killing him. Not yet. We're using them for protection so as we can get away. They're hamming us in on that ledge. I saw the sheriff's posse riding back this way. Quiet now. Here he comes.
Cisco Kid
With the bandidos. This goes not too, but barn so close with the bandidos bar to be fierce like. Good night now, kid.
Carlos
Come on.
Narrator
Come off that horseshoe.
Cisco Kid
I'll take them gun of yours now.
Narrator
Get that rope over his head, Kid.
Cisco Kid
Tie it tight around his Arm what you do, you. You bandidos. Pancho with mine. Pat liked your face. Not like your face neither. Pancho, get Cisco. Cisco, yell out, will you?
Carlos
I'll fix you for that myself right now.
Ricky Hart
You killed him, Carlos.
Carlos
No, I just knocked him out. But I've changed my mind. I'm going to finish the job here and now.
Narrator
With Pancho in dire danger of losing his life, Cisco is riding another trail. In just a moment, we'll return to the Cisco Kid.

Narrator
Now back to the Cisco Kid in our exciting story, Shoot to Kill. When Cisco and Pancho called to see their old friend Tom Dustin Storekeeper, they found that he'd been shot and killed by two hold up men, one of whom, Tom's niece Sarah informed them was called Carlos. While Cisco was talking with Sarah, shots sounded down the street. Rushing to the door, our friends saw two men come out of the bank, mount their horses and gallop away. When Sarah cried out that they were the men who had killed her uncle, Sisco and Pancho rode after them. Sisco taking one trail up around a big grove, Poncho taking the other. But Pancho rode straight into an ambush and was taken prisoner. Now.
Carlos
Well, we'll finish this hombre off right now, kid.
Ricky Hart
I thought you was gonna use him to help us get away.
Carlos
Carlos, he'll be more bother than his worth.
Ricky Hart
But we can keep that Cisco Kid away from us if we let him know we're gonna kill his partner here.
Carlos
Yeah, I know, but. Well, maybe you're right for once. Ricky, soon as he comes to from that gun whipping, get him onto his horse. Make sure his arms are tied tight behind him.
Ricky Hart
They are. Where are we gonna head for, Carlos?
Carlos
We can't keep on into the hills cause that posse's fanning out above us. We can't ride the other trail. Cause Cisco's on that. Our only chance now, kid, is to ride back to town.
Ricky Hart
To town? But we can.
Carlos
That's what I said. I'll tell you what. We'll get back to that store and barricade ourselves in. We'll hold that girl too, along with the fat one here. Get him up under that horse, Kid, and we'll get going.
Narrator
Madame, where can Poncho be? Is that plenty of time to ride up here where the two trails meet again? Maybe that he ran across those bandidos on the other trail down below. But I heard no signal shots. Ah, Santo. The sheriff and his again.
Ricky Hart
Boys, surround him.
Carlos
Surround him.
Narrator
Now look, Sheriff Haney.
Ricky Hart
Oh, you look guilty to me, sister. You look guilty as all get out. And you been up to monkey business.
Narrator
I am after those two bandidos.
Cisco Kid
How do I know but what?
Ricky Hart
You're one of them yourself, and I think you are. This time I'm gonna run you and grab him, boys.
Narrator
Sheriff, I'm in no mood for fooling.
Cisco Kid
Well, neither am I.
Narrator
Keep those homlies away from me or there will be trouble, and I mean that. Now, for your information, one of those bon dealers was named Carlos. Carlos?
Ricky Hart
Carlos.
Cisco Kid
Well, I.
Ricky Hart
How do you know, Cisco?
Narrator
Because I took time enough to get the senorita's story instead of yelling for a posse as you did.
Ricky Hart
Well, I'm a fast worker, Cisco. A fast worker, that is.
Narrator
Say, say too fast. Now, who in this county do you know by the name of Carlos?
Ricky Hart
Carlos? Carlos. I don't know anybody. You're making this up, Cisco.
Cisco Kid
And by thunder, I'm going to.
Narrator
How about the rest of you?
Ricky Hart
There's a Carlos Blake, one of the hands. The double bar.
Narrator
Cisco, you had better check on him at the double bar. Sheriff and Santos, look down below. Just riding into the town.
Ricky Hart
Just three riders, see?
Narrator
Just three riders. And one of them happens to be Poncho, whose arms are bound behind his back. The other two are the banteros you want, Sheriff, you can do as you please. But I'm going after them up there.
Cisco Kid
Wait.
Ricky Hart
Wait a minute, Cisco.
Cisco Kid
Gun him down, boys. Gun him down. No, no, no, no.
Ricky Hart
Wait. Let me think.
Cisco Kid
I'll be.
Ricky Hart
Oh, I. I can't. I'm so nervous. Get up, Henry.
Cisco Kid
Oh, hold up, hold up.
Carlos
Make it fast. Now, kid, get into that store and hold the girl at gunpoint. All right, Charles, get down off that horse. Fat one.
Cisco Kid
Oh, a fat one.
Narrator
Get down.
Carlos
Down, I said.
Ricky Hart
I'll help you.
Cisco Kid
Look, I know.
Carlos
Now get up on your feet. Unless you want to be gunned down.
Cisco Kid
Right here, P. You get up.
Carlos
Get into that store.
Cisco Kid
You just wait till Cisco catch you. Umbre. He fix you, Cisco fix you. You stay fixed, huh?
Carlos
Now get over in that corner and stay there.
Sarah Dustin
What are you men doing in here again?
Ricky Hart
Nobody's gonna hurt you now, ma'am. Just don't make a fluff.
Carlos
Tie her arms. Ricky, hitch the rope to that counter. We're taking no chances of her getting away.
Sarah Dustin
Haven't you done enough?
Cisco Kid
That's what I say. Make Potcher cry, too.
Ricky Hart
Oh, you.
Narrator
You brute.
Carlos
Cut out that snivel in the both of you. Make it fast, Ricky. Then give me a hand barricading this door. Yeah, if they want to make a fight of it, that's what we'll give.
Narrator
Well, ho, ho, ho, ho.
Cisco Kid
They're in the Star, Sheriff. They're barricaded in there.
Ricky Hart
Barricaded, are they?
Cisco Kid
Well, we'll see about that.
Ricky Hart
That is I. Well, we'll.
Narrator
What are you going to do, Sheriff?
Ricky Hart
I'll show you what I'm going to do, Cisco. I'm. Take cover, boy.
Cisco Kid
All right, now, open fire and blast.
Ricky Hart
The gizzards out of them skunks.
Narrator
Madre, man. No, no, no. You lost your sheriff. Have I lost my.
Cisco Kid
Why, no.
Ricky Hart
Just throw these bandits in there.
Cisco Kid
Give it to them, boy.
Narrator
That's your fire. Macho's in there with them. How are they senorita, too? Those bullets may kill one of them. Hold your fire.
Ricky Hart
I never thought of them. I. Oh, I forgot. All hold your fire, boys.
Cisco Kid
Blast it all. Hold your fire.
Ricky Hart
What do you think we better do, Cisco?
Cisco Kid
You tell me.
Ricky Hart
You know so much about it.
Narrator
I know enough not to take a chance on killing my friend, Sheriff.
Ricky Hart
Well, them bandits ain't a gonna walk right out here and give themselves up. Or maybe they are. I don't know.
Cisco Kid
Come out of there, you killers, with.
Ricky Hart
Your hands in the air.
Carlos
Sure, we'll come right out, Sheriff.
Ricky Hart
Here's a couple of calling cards for you. Jump into. They ain't gonna come out. Open up on em, boys.
Narrator
Oh, no, no, no. Hold that fire.
Carlos
Hold it.
Ricky Hart
No. All right, all right, Ida, hold it. We'll starve them out.
Cisco Kid
Hold it, boys.
Narrator
Starve them out of a store which is stocked with provisions of all kinds. No, I do not think we will.
Cisco Kid
Cisco. Cisco. Find you in here, find you in there.
Ricky Hart
Next time I'll kill you.
Narrator
Oh, you beast. You beast. The senorita's in there, Sheriff.
Ricky Hart
Well, let's get her out. Can't leave her in there, Cisco.
Narrator
That is Just the idea, Sheriff. Now listen to me. I have a plan. Have your men start firing.
Ricky Hart
Good ideas, Cisco. All right, boys.
Narrator
Santo, will you wait till I am through talking? Have them fire high so their bullets will not endanger the senorita or Pancho.
Ricky Hart
Waste of ammunition. Criminal waste.
Narrator
While you are doing that, I will go around to the back of the store and try to kill. Get in.
Ricky Hart
They'll be expecting that, Cisco. They'll gun you down. They'll kill you dead. You'll be a cor.
Narrator
That is the chance I must take, Senor Sheriff. Because if I do not, those bond dealers may kill both the senorita and Pancho.
Ricky Hart
Oh, we can't have that. No, sir.
Narrator
Very well, then go give your men the order. When I hear them start firing, I'll make a dash for the rear of the building.
Ricky Hart
All right, Cisco, but you'll be a dead corp. Well, why don't you do something out there? Come on in and get us.
Carlos
You.
Cisco Kid
Cisco. What's the matter?
Carlos
What are you waiting for? Walk right in.
Cisco Kid
All right, boys, open up again.
Ricky Hart
And remember what I told you.
Narrator
Now, if only one of those rear windows is unlocked. So I will waste no time.
Ricky Hart
Left it all for me.
Cisco Kid
Pistol.
Ricky Hart
Wait for me.
Narrator
What are you doing here?
Ricky Hart
What do you think I'm doing here? Thinking, Daisy.
Narrator
Go on back on your posse.
Cisco Kid
I will not.
Ricky Hart
I'mma go and miss you. You're going to be dead corpse.
Narrator
Oh, my j. If you have courage at least. All right, let us try this window. Counter is locked.
Ricky Hart
Smash the glasses.
Narrator
Go like this. Oh, they will hear that, Sheriff. I was going to try another window.
Carlos
Watch the back of the store, Ricky. Lock it.
Ricky Hart
Yeah. They're coming in, Carlos.
Narrator
We are coming in. Om. May your bullets go. Get my hands on you.
Ricky Hart
Hey, Carlos.
Cisco Kid
Carlos.
Narrator
Give me that. Son, you're nothing but a boy. You are in bad company.
Cisco Kid
I'll take him, Cisco.
Ricky Hart
Push him over this way.
Advertiser
I'll take him.
Narrator
There he is, Senor Sheriff.
Cisco Kid
Get the heads up on you, you.
Ricky Hart
Little squirt, in no time at all.
Narrator
All right, you, Omri, drop that gun.
Cisco Kid
Oh, no.
Ricky Hart
Walk up to me, Cisco.
Carlos
I dare you, walk up to me.
Advertiser
Cisco.
Cisco Kid
Cisco, not the kids.
Narrator
Do not worry, Pancho. It's for you, hombre. I'm going to do just that. I'm going to walk up to you and take that gun away from you.
Sarah Dustin
Francisco, please stay where you are.
Cisco Kid
Do not come no closer.
Narrator
She said, have no fear, senorita. And you, Pacho chieto. I said now look me in the eye. Om. Now put down that gun blast you are. You will do nothing. Ory. Now that I have my hands on.
Cisco Kid
That gun, I'll kill you.
Narrator
You are just too late for that. There, the gun. Here, take it, Sheriff.
Cisco Kid
I got it, sister. I'll whack him on. Whack him? I. I got it.
Narrator
Untie the finger in and fight your sheriff. I think I have these homily just about under control.
Cisco Kid
Bancho tells you this? Go fix your bandido. How'd you like that, huh?
Narrator
Hold your fire, senores. There's no further need for it. Is senorita all right, Sheriff?
Ricky Hart
Yeah, she's all right, Cisco. She just fainted. That's a natural thing for a woman to do. Now, Poncho, I'll cut you loose.
Cisco Kid
Gracious and Sheriff. Gracious and Pancho feel dizzy. Afraid for Cisco when he get. But. But Poncho, that faint Panchino woman no pancher not gonna fain faint.
Ricky Hart
Oh, blazes shucks. Now look at him, Cisco. Just my knees ain't as strong as they might be.
Narrator
Nor are mine, Sheriff. Any. I think we had both better sit down on this counter for just a moment.

Sarah Dustin
Cisco, I've got a confession to make to you.
Narrator
And what is that, senorita?
Sarah Dustin
The other day when everything happened, I made up my mind I wasn't going to like you. Uncle Tom told me so much about you. Well, it was just too much. I didn't think any man could live up to such glowing report.
Narrator
I do not know what he said, senorita, but probably no man could.
Sarah Dustin
The only trouble is he didn't tell me half enough.
Narrator
Oh, come now, Senorita. Let us talk about you.
Sarah Dustin
