The speed of light, the cloud of dust and a hearty H. Silver. The Lone Ranger,
Tonto
With his faithful Indian
Narrator
companion, T. The masked rider of the plains, led the fight for law and order in the early western United States. The stories of his strength and courage, his daring and resourcefulness have come down to us through the generations. And nowhere in the pages of history can one find a greater champion of justice. Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear. From out of the past come the thundering hoof feet. To the great horse Silver. The Lone Ranger rides again.
Silver (Horse)
Lone Silver. Roll the trail of outlaws.
Jake
Lo Silver.
Narrator
Although the name of the Lone Ranger was known throughout the west, there were many parts of that vast territory where he and Tonto had never been seen. Where a man who wore a mask and carried two guns strapped low on his hips meant nothing more less than another outlaw. And so one day, when a Pony Express rider had galloped into a line camp near High Valley.
Randy Perkins
That's what I'm telling you, gents. I caught a glimpse of them as I was anglin west along Branch Creek. A masked man and an injured.
Nevins
They see you?
Randy Perkins
No, they must be outlaws. An outlaw and a renegade engine.
Nevins
How? Easy, son.
Mossbeck
How come they didn't see you? It seems to me outlaws are cheap out of sight.
Nevins
Unless they were planning to do robbing or killing.
Randy Perkins
Well, they didn't see me. Cause they were riding in the middle of the stream. The splashing drowned out the sound of my horse.
The Lone Ranger
What'd they look like?
Marshall
Well, like I said, tighten your cinch, lad.
Nevins
Don't be so fired, chubby.
Mossbeck
All you told us is you were a masked man and a redskin.
Nevins
Give a better description than that?
Randy Perkins
Well, yeah, I reckon so. The Injun rode a paint. But the other fellow, the one that was mast, rode the biggest and fastest horse I ever saw in my life. Certain. Sure. That horse could travel a pony express route and beat a dozen of our best. He was a white stallion. Just as white as the snow on top of Old Bali Mountain.
The Lone Ranger
And he.
Randy Perkins
What's wrong, mister? Your eyes are popping.
The Lone Ranger
White stallion.
Nevins
Did you hear that, Nibbins?
Yeah, yeah, Mossbeck. It sounds like a.
Like that outlaw we heard about back east ways.
The Lone Ranger
Outlaw?
Mossbeck
But sure, sure, never. You remember. Outlaw.
Randy Perkins
Oh, oh, yeah, yeah. Outlaw. Say, you just know who he is?
Nevins
Yes, son.
Mossbeck
He goes around claiming he's the Lone Ranger.
Randy Perkins
Claiming? You mean he's not the Lone Ranger?
Mossbeck
Do you think so?
Randy Perkins
Oh, no, no, of course not. I said he was an outlaw, didn't I? But, say, come to think of it, I've heard stories about the Lone Ranger. And now that you bring it up, that mass gent does fit the description.
Nevins
But you've never seen the Lone Ranger, have you?
Randy Perkins
Well, nobody around here has.
Nevins
Yeah, that's what I figured. I.
Marshall
You're right.
Nevins
Those two are a couple of the worst outlaws in the West.
Randy Perkins
They are.
Mossbeck
And the worst part of it is they pretend to be the Lone Ranger and his injured partner. Savvy? So what happens?
The Lone Ranger
What?
Mossbeck
They go into a town. Well, folks are figuring it's a Lone Ranger. And while they're off their guard, they happen to rob a bank.
Randy Perkins
God.
Mossbeck
Yeah.
Nevins
They talk to a stage driver before he starts.
Mossbeck
Maybe in the dark, the night before, Bash man makes out he's a Lone Ranger. Then the next day on the trail, what happens?
The Lone Ranger
What?
Mossbeck
There they are telling them to stop. So he stops thinking nothing wrong.
Nevins
They shoot him, son. They shoot him without warning. Take the Wells Fargo Express money and vamoose.
Randy Perkins
Gosh, they're mighty slick, aren't they?
Nevins
Watch out for them, boy. They robbed the Pony Express before this.
Randy Perkins
Oh, I sure will, stranger. And thanks for the warning.
Mossbeck
It's all right, son. It's all right.
Marshall
Glad to oblige, Randy.
Jake
Yeah, Jake. There's your fresh horse. Better hit the trail or the Pony Express will be late. Keno, Jake.
Randy Perkins
Well, I gotta travel, gents. Pony Express can't wait for nothing. Adios.
Mossbeck
Adios. Remember what I told you.
Jake
I sure will, mister. Get up, Pony.
Nevins
Get up there,
Moss back. What kind of yarn did you feed him? You know well as I do that masked man was a Lone Ranger. And furthermore, he's after us.
Sure he is, Nes. That's why I spread that yarn.
The Lone Ranger
Huh?
Nevins
The Lone Ranger's Been trailing us for two weeks, hasn't he?
Near a tree.
He knows all about his rubbing that gold mine back to the walls. We've out fooled this sheriff and the posse and everybody else. But no matter how much we cover our trail and double back, the Lone Ranger stays right behind us.
They're getting closer all the time.
Yeah, we can't outrun him. So we gotta outsmart him.
Oh, I begin to savvy. You know, not many folks around here ever had a glimpse of the Lone Ranger, huh?
Came to me like a flash in Evans. That kid does a lot of talking. That's the kind he is.
You know, Spread it high, wide and
Mossbeck
handsome all the way from here to High Valley.
Nevins
When the masked man comes along, nobody will stop to talk. They'll start shooting as soon as they see him.
Yeah, that'll be it. But hold on. How's that going to help us, Mossbeck?
It's going to help us plenty, Nevins. It's going to help us to get the Lone Ranger.
Tonto
Now let's get out of here.
Silver (Horse)
Mossbeck and Nevins are a hard pair to catch up with. Tunnel.
Tonto
They got plenty fast horse.
Silver (Horse)
Fast horses. And Mossbeck as clever as a fox. How long has it been now? We've followed trail for 20 day now. A trail no one else could figure out. But you, kimosabe. You too. At least we're getting closer all the time. We never in this country before, huh? No. For some reason we haven't hit this territory before. We're someplace near a town called High Valley. Ah, this goes long Pony Express trail right up til
Tonto
what matter, Kabi?
The Lone Ranger
There's a log cabin up ahead on that ridge.
Tonto
Oh, Thomasia.
The Lone Ranger
One cabin and a corral. Must be a way station for Pony Express riders.
Tonto
They're one rider now. Him change horses, See?
The Lone Ranger
He must have come from High Valley. Tado. I have a feeling that that's where our trail leads.
Tonto
You think Mossbeck and Nevin?
The Lone Ranger
Yes. There's no reason why they shouldn't ride into town. Unknown around here. It easily poses cowhands or buffalo hunters.
Tonto
Ah, maybe Pony Express rider see him, huh?
The Lone Ranger
We'll wait along the trail. He'll be leaving soon.
Jake
Already.
Marshall
Randy, you bring any news in High Valley? Oh, nothing.
Randy Perkins
Except I spread word about those outlaws I saw.
Marshall
Mean the one you saw on your last trip come the other way.
Randy Perkins
Yeah. Watch out for them, Jake. A masked man and a redskin. And don't let them tell you they're the Lone Ranger in his park.
Marshall
Sure thing. They won't fool Me?
Silver (Horse)
Here.
Marshall
I switched the saddle bag to your new mount.
Jake
Better travel.
Randy Perkins
I'm on the way.
Marshall
See you in two days. Adios.
Jake
Keep your rifle handy. Watch out for trouble. Adios, Jake. I'll be watching. Get up, boy.
The Lone Ranger
Come on, get.
Tonto
Hear him come now?
The Lone Ranger
Yes.
Tonto
Stay in trees till him get close.
The Lone Ranger
Oh, we might as well go out alongside the trail.
Tonto
But, Kimasabi, you wear a mask.
The Lone Ranger
I'll keep my hat pulled down low so my mask will be in the shadow. As long as we look peaceful, he won't get alarmed.
Tonto
Get around, Scout.
The Lone Ranger
This way, Silver.
Tonto
He'll not see us yet.
The Lone Ranger
No, he's checking his stirrups. Buddy. Now he sees us.
Marshall
Hello.
Hi.
Jake
You get that horse.
Silver (Horse)
Hold on. We want to ask you something.
Jake
You can't fool me.
Silver (Horse)
He must help me.
Marshall
Look out.
Jake
You're not the Lone Ranger. And don't try to stop the horny express.
Tonto
You're not hurt?
The Lone Ranger
No, he misses both. Toto. Look at him ride.
Tonto
What matter him? Maybe him. Loco, huh? We ride after him, though. But him shoot at us. We catch him. Silver and Scout catch him easy.
The Lone Ranger
No, Tano. Let him go. Huh? Did you hear what he said after
Tonto
he fired him say something about Lone Ranger?
The Lone Ranger
Yes. He said you're not the Lone Ranger. That heat.
Tonto
Strange.
The Lone Ranger
Very strange. Never met him before. I had my hat pulled down to conceal my mask.
Tonto
But everybody hear about you, Kimasabi.
The Lone Ranger
That's possible. Yet why should he sound so positive? Why should he shoot without warning?
Tonto
We follow him.
The Lone Ranger
We find out now he's riding the Pony express. He's got to keep traveling. There's a guard at that way station. We'll talk to him.
Tonto
Maybe him shoot, too.
The Lone Ranger
We'll make sure he doesn't. This time we'll be more careful. We'll be on top of him before he knows it. Come on, Silver.
Marshall
It's your misfortune and none of my own. Oh, take it easy. Pony. Tarnation cannot rub you down if you don't hold still. Garnet, stop acting so spooky. There's nothing to be scared of. I got my peel all around. There isn't an engine or a trail scout that could sneak up on me. Hey.
Silver (Horse)
What?
Jake
What?
The Lone Ranger
Turn around.
Marshall
The masked man. The masked man in the engine. Well, you sneaked up on me.
The Lone Ranger
I didn't want you reaching for your guns as soon as you saw us.
Marshall
You can't fool me, mister. Besides, there's nothing here worth stealing.
The Lone Ranger
Just a minute. Can't fool you about.
Jake
Oh, no, you don't.
Marshall
You're not going to. Slick talk Me? I heard all about you from those two gents passing through.
Jake
You're not the Lone Ranger.
Tonto
You Loco. Him Lone Ranger for sure.
Marshall
You can talk all you like, Injun. Mighty slick steam.
The Lone Ranger
He said something about two men who passed along this trail.
Marshall
Yeah, they're the ones who told me. Told Randy, too. And he told every soul in High Valley. Whatever you're planning, mask man, you won't
The Lone Ranger
get away with it. Tell me one thing now. Those two men are their names. Mossbeck and Nevin.
Marshall
Moss Beck and Nev.
Jake
But I won't tell you.
The Lone Ranger
You already have. Thanks. I thought it might have been them.
Marshall
You'd better skedaddle, both of you. Everybody's ready for you. We don't fool around with outlaws in this neck of the woods.
Jake
We go out and get them.
Tonto
You crazy, like Loco Maverick, this feller? Him Lone Ranger?
The Lone Ranger
Never mind, Toto. Mossbeck and Evans went on to High Valley.
Marshall
What if they did?
The Lone Ranger
What's your name?
Jake
Jake.
The Lone Ranger
Well, Jake, suppose I told you Mossbeck and Evans weren't telling the truth. Suppose I told you that they're the outlaws, not Tono and I. Oh, no.
Jake
Oh, no, you don't.
Marshall
I know Batman when I see him. Those two gents were all right.
The Lone Ranger
Oh, I was afraid you'd take that attitude. All right, Jake. Can you believe this? I'm going to hold up the Pony Express on its next trip. How about it, Jake?
Marshall
What are you telling me for?
The Lone Ranger
Saddlebags will be full of checks and drafts of credit. They're made out to bear. Anyone can use them. Would you believe that?
Mossbeck
You.
Jake
You can't rob the pony's flash.
The Lone Ranger
Don't move, Jake.
Marshall
Your bullet cut the reins right in half.
The Lone Ranger
Did you think you could get away and ride to High Valley to spread the alarm?
Marshall
That was my idea.
The Lone Ranger
Too bad, Jake, if you're not getting away. Time up, Tutto.
Tonto
But me not, Savage.
The Lone Ranger
I'll help you time up. It's long after dark, Silver. Take it easy, boy. Take it easy. Silver.
Marshall
Hi.
Tonto
Kai Kimasabi.
Marshall
What happened to Jake?
The Lone Ranger
What about Jake, Tutto?
Tonto
Him gone.
The Lone Ranger
That's right. I heard him leave.
Randy Perkins
Huh?
The Lone Ranger
He sneaked to the corral and took one of the horses. I heard him lead the horse away before he got in the saddle. But how him get loose when we tied him up? I tied the knots loosely, Tanto. I wanted him to get away.
Tonto
Tanto not savvy anything.
The Lone Ranger
You know where he'll go, don't you? Sure.
Tonto
Him go straight to High Valley. Him bring posse heap quick.
The Lone Ranger
That's just what I want him to Do Tano. What do you hear?
Tonto
What him say?
Randy Perkins
You not Lone Ranger.
Tonto
Posse, maybe.
Nevins
Catch us?
The Lone Ranger
They might.
Tonto
Kimasabi, what this all about? Express bring drafts like you say?
The Lone Ranger
I didn't say that, Talo. As far as I know, there'll be nothing special in the saddlebags. I only asked Jake if he'd believe me if I did say that. And I think Moss Beck and Nevins will believe it, too.
Tonto
Moss Beckon Nevins.
The Lone Ranger
Ho, ho.
Tonto
Now Tanta, see what you do. You set trapper, Outlaw.
The Lone Ranger
Turnabout's fair play. Totto. Mossbeck and Nevins thought they had us. They figured they'd get everyone in High Valley ready to shoot us on sight.
Tonto
They set a trap for us.
The Lone Ranger
Now we're setting one for them. Listen, kimosabe, here's my plan.
Narrator
The curtain falls on the first act of our Lone Ranger story before the next exciting scenes. Please permit us to pause for just a few moments. Now to continue our story. It took Jake about four hours to ride to High Valley, pressing his horse all the way. When he got there, he roused up the marshall. The excitement of his arrival brought a crowd of men over in front of the marshal's office.
Marshall
Hold on. Hold on, everybody. There's something wrong.
Mossbeck
Marshall, you need some deputies?
Marshall
It sure looks that way, mister. Gents, you all know Jake. He just rode all the way from the Pony Express cabin on Rock Ridge. Speak up, Jake.
Tell him, fellas. It's that master. The master and the engine. They tied me up and put me in the shed. But I got loose of the ropes.
Jake
Made it here as fast as it could.
Nevins
Say, hold on a second. You mean the outlaw who pretends he's a lone Ranger?
Marshall
That's the one.
Mossbeck
Did he try to convince you?
Marshall
He sure did, Mossbeck. He tried his doggoneness. But like the motto says, forewarned is forearmed.
Jake
I didn't believe a word of it.
Marshall
Quiet down, you hombres.
There's more.
Ain't heard the important part, gents.
Those two outlaws plan to hold up the westbound Pony Express tomorrow.
That's young Randy Perkins.
Randy Perkins. And he'll be carrying a lot of valuable papers, letters of credit, drafts on the Wells Fargo bank. Those two armies plan to hold him up.
Jake
That's why they wrote me.
Mossbeck
Let me get this straight. Did the MASH man actually say he was going to hold up Randy Perkins?
Marshall
Well, no, no, not exactly. But I can read between the lines.
Mossbeck
You didn't say that, eh?
Marshall
No, but it's as plain as a
Jake
nose on my face.
Marshall
What he means to do.
Nevins
Seems to me never.
Marshall
Let's stop all this talk, baby. They're still out there. Maybe they went to sleep and don't
Jake
even know I got away.
Marshall
Marshall, I'm asking you. Get up a posse. Head for Rock Ridge right now. We'll catch them before they know what's happened.
Keno. All right, gents, get your horses, pack your guns and move fast. We're heading for Rock Ridge.
Jake
There she is.
Marshall
All right, gents, ride right up to the door.
Jake
We want to give them a chance.
Marshall
Oh.
Nevins
Oh. Easy, hogs. Mosbeck. It sure sounds logo to me. Why should the Lone Ranger tie Jake up?
I've been forgetting that. Nevins. If you had the time, the kind of Jake wouldn't believe who he was.
Yeah, maybe that explains that, all right. What's all this about the pony express?
Living is the way I've been thinking of. That old ranger was trying to warn Jake that Perkins would be carrying valuable papers. Maybe he was telling Jake to be careful.
There wasn't a whole left and Jake got it all twisted.
That makes sense, don't it?
Well, they reached the cabin. Suppose the Lone Ranger's there now?
The Lone Ranger
I don't know.
Nevins
That depends.
The Lone Ranger
On what?
Nevins
Well, if you learn Jake got away and now that they up on the left. Don't be loco. Married man must have realized everybody else got the same attitude. Jake has figured where Jake went, they
Mossbeck
wouldn't want any part of a. I
Marshall
don't hear any shooting.
Nevins
Mos.
Regular van. Moose.
Mossbeck
Hey, Marshall.
Marshall
Where you been?
Mossbeck
My horse got a stone issue I had to stop. No one's kept me company.
Tonto
How about it?
Marshall
How about what?
Nevins
Did you hear any shooting?
Marshall
There wasn't any shooting. Cabin was empty.
Mossbeck
Yeah?
Nevins
That's too bad.
Marshall
Yeah, but we're not stopping. Trouble isn't over yet.
Nevins
Why not?
Marshall
I can see you don't know much about crooks, Mr. Mosby.
Nevins
No, I. I can't say that I do.
Mossbeck
Why isn't there trouble over him?
Marshall
Well, Jake put his finger on it.
Nevins
Tell them, Jake.
Marshall
Those two haven't given up yet. I wager they still plan to hold up Randy Perkins. They'll just do it someplace else instead of here. They'll do it somewhere at east of here. Someplace between here and Branch Creek.
Mossbeck
Why not use a telegraph wires and warn Randy before he starts?
Marshall
Isn't any telegraph. No, sir. We gotta do what I told the marshal.
Nevins
Which is?
Marshall
We gotta split up and start riding east. We gotta drop off in pairs and cover the trail Randy Perkins is going to take. And as each Pair meets Randy, why they turn around and keep on coming west with him.
Jake
That way he'll have a regular bodyguard
Marshall
and it'll keep getting stronger all the time.
Nevins
Say, that's a right slick idea.
Mossbeck
Yeah, but suppose we're all spread out and some of us see the masked man.
Marshall
That's a chance we'll just have to take. But if any of us see the masked man and the engine, why, we'll just light out after him.
Jake
Right, boys? Sure, sure.
Marshall
We know it's the masked man who's going to do the hold up if anybody does. So it's just as good keeping after him and his pard as it'd be keeping watch over Randy.
Narrator
Right.
Marshall
Only we know where Randy will be, so that's a safer way to start.
Mossbeck
I guess you're right, Marshall. Say, how about me and Evans going all the way east and being the first pair to meet up with Randy? That all right with you?
Tonto
Fine.
Marshall
Go ahead.
The Lone Ranger
Hear that, Silver? That's t. Go over that way.
Tonto
I hey, kimosabe. This way.
The Lone Ranger
Steady, boy. Steady. Boo. Well, hello. You been watching the trail east?
Tonto
Ah, it's still dark. You hear men right east may not know who they are.
The Lone Ranger
I can tell you who they are, Tutto.
Tonto
Oh, you watch it, cabin.
The Lone Ranger
I was close by hidden in the grass when Jake led the posse back.
Tonto
Oh, what you heard was a posse.
The Lone Ranger
They're going to drop off pair by pair until they're covering the whole trail from Rock Bridge to Branch Creek.
Tonto
Oh, that good idea.
The Lone Ranger
It's not so good, Toto, because Mossbeck and Nevins were with that posse. What's more, they're going to be the pair that'll meet Randy Perkins. See what that means.
Tonto
Oh, Kimasabi. That mean trouble for Pony Express rider.
The Lone Ranger
I'm certain that Moss Beck and Nevins plans to knock him out or worse to get that his saddlebags.
Tonto
But nothing in saddlebags.
The Lone Ranger
They think there is. And it's up to us to trap them.
Tonto
Kimasabe, why Potty not ride all together? Why did they not go east? Ride back to Thrandi, huh?
The Lone Ranger
You forget Toto. They can't keep up with him. He's a Pony Express rider. His horse is fast.
Tonto
Oh, plenty fast.
The Lone Ranger
Jake is the only one in the posse who has a Pony Express horse. He's already been to High Valley and back. His horse will be tired.
Tonto
We ride east now.
The Lone Ranger
How long ago did the posse leave?
Tonto
Or dawn, maybe hour.
The Lone Ranger
Good. Then follow me. We'll stop as soon as we sight the first pair of men.
Marshall
Get him up.
Narrator
The Lone Ranger and Tono traveled east along the trail. 30 minutes passed, 40. Then the masked man reigned.
Silver (Horse)
Up there.
Tonto
They aren't him, Jake.
The Lone Ranger
Another one with him is the marshal of High Valley. I saw him in the light of the campfire in Rock Ridge.
Tonto
Others further ahead, huh?
The Lone Ranger
Yes. They're spread out to the east now.
Tonto
What do we do now? We go tell Marshall and Jake who we are. Careful, Tutto.
The Lone Ranger
We tried that once.
Tonto
What you mean?
The Lone Ranger
We talked to Jake. He wouldn't believe us. No reason to assume that he and the marshal will believe us now.
Tonto
That's right. But Kimasabi, we do something, they see us.
The Lone Ranger
What will they do?
Tonto
Why, they shoot at us.
The Lone Ranger
We can stay out of range of their guns. What else will they do?
Tonto
They try catch us.
The Lone Ranger
That's it, Tano. As soon as they see us, he'll come after us. We're going to ride straight east, straight along the trail for Branch Creek. And every man in that posse is going to trail along after us. We'll make sure of that. By the time we get to where Mossbeck and Nevins are waiting, we'll have that whole posse behind us. Ready?
Tonto
Me ready.
The Lone Ranger
Here we go. Come on, big fella.
Silver (Horse)
Hit the trail.
Tonto
Get him up.
Silver (Horse)
All the silver.
Marshall
It's getting on toward noon, Jake.
Yeah, I reckon all the boys must be pretty close to where they belong by now.
Excepting toward the east. Mosbeck Neville will take a while longer.
I sure wish we'd caught that mask, hombre.
Same here.
Jake
I tell you, Marsher, I.
Marshall
If he hadn't got the drop on me from behind, I'd have whipped out my guns and beat him to the draw. Yes, sir, I'd have brought him into jail myself.
Jake
Where's my gun? These horses back there riding like a prairie fire. I didn't even get a chance to draw near.
The Lone Ranger
Me.
Marshall
Had an east marshal.
Well, don't stand there with your mouth open catching flies. We got horses. Come on, let's get after them.
Jake
Get in there.
The Lone Ranger
Come on, get in there.
Narrator
On and on sped the Lone Ranger and Tonto, heading east along the trail of the Pony Express. They galloped just fast enough to keep their followers in sight. But each time they neared another pair of deputies, they speeded up, rode past them like twin thunderbolts. Every time the surprise deputies were left behind and took up the chase behind the white stallion in the paint.
Jake
They're still ahead of us.
Marshall
We're keeping them inside anyhow.
Jake
Come on, horse. I just hope they don't get ready before Mars can stop.
Mossbeck
To the.
Nevins
This is going to work out slick as a whistle, Evans. When Randy comes along, he'll stop as soon as we hit him.
Sure. He takes us for friends.
You get behind him while I give him warning about the mask man. As soon as I shout look out and you hit him hard with the butt of your gun. Sevy.
Yeah.
Left the other saddlebags. While he's unconscious, we'll head into the woods and hide him under a rug and back we come here, tear clothes a little, shoot off a few bullets,
lay down on the ground when Randy comes to. You figured the masked man the engine surprised all three of us.
The Lone Ranger
Yeah. Yeah.
Nevins
It'll be a century. Must be. Yeah, it's a kid. Get ready Nimbus.
Here he comes.
Mossbeck
Randy. Randy Perkins.
Jake
Hold on.
Narrator
Oh boy.
Jake
Hold out. Ho ho boy.
Randy Perkins
4012 body gents in an all fired hurry. Can't slow down the Pony express. Hey, what are you doing around here?
Nevins
Hey, ready that master man on the engine. They're out to rob the pony Express.
Randy Perkins
What?
Nevins
A posse came out in High Valley. There's deputies posted all the way along
Mossbeck
that mass company maybe any place. Maybe right here. Look out.
Nevins
Nice going, Evans. Come on now, let's empty these saddlebags.
The Lone Ranger
What about Randy?
Mossbeck
I'm lay.
Nevins
Maybe we'll put a boy it in them later. But right now check them for all these packages and these letters. We'll find the ones that have the money in them. Cut the act.
Silver (Horse)
No you don't.
Jake
Hey, what's happened to Randy?
Silver (Horse)
Marshall, here are your real criminals. Want to arrest somebody?
The Lone Ranger
Put them under arrest. Come on.
Marshall
I'll be doggone. Mossbrink, you almost got away with blaming these two for your own tricks. What have you got to say for yourself?
Nevins
Well, if it hadn't been for the
Marshall
Lone Ranger, we'd have gone.
This masked fellow is a Lone Ranger? Well, dog on my hide, that's one on you, Jake. Oh, I knew it all the time.
Jake
Sure knew it all the time.
Marshall
Peter.
Mossbeck
You cuddies. We're not in jail yet.
Marshall
Watch that fellow he's got on the gun.
Mossbeck
Oh, my hat.
Silver (Horse)
You're not hurt.
The Lone Ranger
I just shot the gun from your hand, Sage.

Ever see such shooting, Marshall?
Thanks, master man. We'll put these hombres in jail pronto. We're mighty sorry we misunderstood, Marshall.
The Lone Ranger
Long as it's straightened out. We've been trailing Moss back and Nevin for weeks. They robbed a gold mine back on the Little Wolf.
Marshall
Yeah, well you can tell the sheriff back there we got his prisoners.
Tonto
We'll hold him till he sends for him and adios.

Jake
Lip garden.
Marshall
You know, gents, now that I look at these two skunks and then look at the masked man riding away, I just can't figure it out. Well, these two homies, they look like crooks. But that masked man, why, he's the living image of a real man.
Well, he's the Lone Ranger, Jake.
Jake
How could I ever have doubted it?
Nevins

| Timestamp | Speaker | Quote | |-----------|---------|-------| | 04:30 | Mossbeck | "They go into a town. Folks figure it's the Lone Ranger...they happen to rob a bank." | | 09:13 | Jake | "You're not the Lone Ranger! And don't try to stop the Pony Express!" | | 12:56 | Lone Ranger | "I tied the knots loosely, Tonto. I wanted him to get away." | | 13:44 | Lone Ranger | "Turnabout's fair play, Tonto. Mossbeck and Nevins thought they had us... Now we're setting one for them." | | 21:13–21:28 | Lone Ranger | "Every man in that posse is going to trail along after us... By the time we get to where Mossbeck and Nevins are waiting, we'll have that whole posse behind us." | | 25:00 | Marshall | "This masked fellow is the Lone Ranger? Well, dog on my hide, that's one on you, Jake." | | 25:57 | Jake | "How could I ever have doubted it?" |
The episode is marked by lively, frontier-style dialogue, the suspense and excitement of the radio Western genre, and an undercurrent of trust, valor, and clever trickery. The Lone Ranger’s calm determination, juxtaposed against the flustered, suspicious townsfolk and the scheming outlaws, provides both humor and drama in the classic American radio style.
This episode of The Lone Ranger, showcased by Andrew Rhynes' Old Time Radio Westerns, encapsulates the clever reversals and justice-driven plots that define the golden age of Western storytelling. The skillful interplay between rumor, reality, and reputation delivers suspense and a satisfying resolution, as the iconic masked hero once again restores order to the frontier.
