Narrator
Here's adventure, here's romance. Here's the famous Robin Hood of the Old West.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Cisco, he's sheriff. He is getting closer this way. Pancho.
Narrator
The Cisco Kids. Now the Cisco Kid and our exciting story, voice of the 44. In the Old west, the voice of the 44 was the voice of the law and the voice of the outlaw. Sheriffs and marshals used the 44 to enforce their arrests. Desperados used it in the process of robbing and killing. No complete history of the Old west can be written without prominent mention of the 44. As our story opens, Red Toomey, Mal hall and their band of outlaws are riding towards the frontier town of Mesquite. Read to me. The leader is in a savage mood.
Red Toomey
Just one wrong look from any hombre in this town and he's a dead man.
Cisco Kid
Think they let us stay in Mesquite? Ran?
Red Toomey
You're blasted right. I think they'll let us stay. Stay as long as we want to. Maybe before we move on, we'll knock over the bank. Anybody know if Mike Werfel's still in Mesquite?
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Yeah, he is.
Cisco Kid
He's blacksmithing there. They tell me he gave up safecracking some time ago.
Red Toomey
We need him. We'll use him, Mal.
Cisco Kid
I guess that'd be all right with him. What I hear he's getting sick of blacksmithing.
Red Toomey
Don't make no difference whether it's all right with him or not. I'm taking over the town. And we'll start by taking over the hotel. Look to your guns, boys. We may need to use them.
Pancho
Is the town a mesquite school, see?
Cisco Kid
Not a very large town, Pancho.
Pancho
Nah, not very large.
Cisco Kid
Store, small hotel, a bank. That is about all there is to it.
Pancho
We stay in Mesquite, Cisco.
Cisco Kid
Just long enough for the blacksmith to fix this shoe on Diablo. And we ride on to the west.
Pancho
Fancy not Chino blocks. Me chop.
Cisco Kid
There must be one here somewhere. There's the town marshal, Pancho, asleep in his chair in front of the jail.
Pancho
He now look like a good marshal.
Cisco Kid
Cisco? Well, he is old, but perhaps he's a fine marshal for all of that. See you, Marshall Christmas.
Marshal
Who calls me?
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Get him up. Get him up.
Cisco Kid
Wake up. Senor Marshal. Be careful that gun. You might hurt somebody.
Marshal
I guess I was asleep. What do you want, stranger?
Cisco Kid
Is there a blacksmith in this town?
Marshal
Why, yeah, sure. It's Mike Worfeld. Shop's just the other side of the hotel there. Say, I seen you somewhere before, stranger.
Pancho
Most people see Cisco before, Senor Marshall.
Marshal
Cisco?
Cisco Kid
Uh huh.
Marshal
The Cisco kids. Well, by Judas. Yeah. Yes, I. I saw you once. Old round up bluffs. And I never saw nothing like that exhibition of handgun shooting you was doing, Cisco.
Cisco Kid
Oh, gracias. And your marshal. Well, let us go under the shop, Poncho.
Pancho
See Cisco.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Come on, Diablo, Come on.
Pancho
Go on into the shop.
Marshal
Well, I'm mighty glad to have you and your partner in town.
Cisco Kid
Oh, see, there's the shop. Pancho was hidden by the hotel.
Pancho
Look, Cisco hombres. Right down the middle of the street, see?
Cisco Kid
Pancho?
Pancho
Who does hombres?
Cisco Kid
I have no idea, Chico.
Pancho
Oh, tough hombre, Cisco. Pancho never see no tougher hombres.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Say, ho de. Oh, loco.
Pancho
Tough hombres.
Cisco Kid
I would like my horse shod, Senor Blacksmith. He has cast a shoe. Blacksmith.
Pancho
Tof hombre too.
Cisco Kid
All right, lead him into the shop. I'll get round to it later on. Can you not shoe him right now?
Marshal
No, I can't shoe him right now.
Cisco Kid
And if you talk any more about it, I won't shoe him at all, see? Took talk too. I would like the job done right now, Senor Blacksmith.
Marshal
Look you, I.
Cisco Kid
All right, take him in. Come on, Diablo.
Pancho
Just go look at the hombres. Ain't that tough no more.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Oh, Diablo.
Marshal
Say, Cisco Cecil.
Cisco Kid
Marshal.
Marshal
I wonder if you'd help me out a little. I see where Red Toomey and his crowd just rode into town.
Cisco Kid
And who is Red Toomey?
Marshal
Well, he's wanted on suspicion of a killing over the east. And I. I got arrested. Here come the troubles.
Cisco Kid
No. What do you want me to do?
Marshal
Say a marshal, help me arrest Red.
Cisco Kid
You're asking for hot lead, Marshal, when you tangle with Red Toomey. And these hombres don't look like they could be any help to you. You're not in our Cisco hombre. No, but I know Red, see? We will help you see him, Marshal. What is this, bandido?
Marshal
Him and his gang just went into the hotel.
Cisco Kid
Well, guess I'll go see the fun. Look, I would like to have my heart shot when I get back here. And I expect to be back very shortly. You understand?
Marshal
Yeah. All right.
Cisco Kid
Let us go, Marshall.
Red Toomey
Come on, boys. We'll take over this here hotel. You the owner of this hotel?
Marshal
Yeah, that's right.
Red Toomey
My boys and I want the best rooms you got.
Cisco Kid
We want a product. So?
Narrator
Well, hotel's most full up. Just got one small room left.
Red Toomey
Turn somebody out.
Marshal
I can't do that, mister.
Red Toomey
Oh, you can't, huh? We'll see about that.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Go on. Go on. Hit him again, Randy.
Cisco Kid
Take it easy, mister.
Red Toomey
Are we getting the best rooms here?
Marshal
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll fix it.
Cisco Kid
Hey, Red, here comes the marshal.
Red Toomey
Why, that darn old squirt. What do you want, Marshall?
Marshal
You want it back east, Red, and I'm arresting you.
Red Toomey
You what? You're taking me in?
Cisco Kid
That is what he said, hombre, and that is what he meant. Keep your hands away from your guns, Red. That's a Cisco Kid. You keep talking. I'll edge around, get him from this side.
Marshal
Cisco Kid, huh?
Red Toomey
What if I don't go with you?
Cisco Kid
I am running out of patience, Aubrey. Start for the door at once.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Look at he's going.
Marshal
He's right under this Some shooting, Cisco.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Right Now, Aubrey.
Cisco Kid
Senior marshal. Take his guns as he walks past you.
Marshal
Yeah, I got him, Cisco.
Cisco Kid
I think you'll have no more trouble with him. Come, Pancho. Let's go back and see if Diablo is shot.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Come on, Mal, let's storm that jail and get Red out. Wait a minute. Shut up.
Cisco Kid
That Cisco Kid's still around here. I ain't hankering to tangle with him again. I get a better idea as soon as he leaves the blacksmith shop, we'll go over and talk with Mike Werford.
Marshal
Him and his partner are just riding away now.
Cisco Kid
All right, then. Come on. There's times when you gotta use brains instead of force. This here's one of them. Hey, Wurfle.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Yeah?
Cisco Kid
Come here. I guess you know me, Wurfle. I'm Mal Hall. Yeah, I know you. The Red's in jail here?
Red Toomey
Yeah.
Marshal
Saw the marshal taking him over.
Cisco Kid
We want to get him out. Wurfle.
Marshal
Oh, go ahead. What's slapping you?
Cisco Kid
You got a saw that'll cut through metal, ain't you?
Marshal
What are you getting at, Hole?
Cisco Kid
You go get that saw and strap it around your body, inside your clothes. And go throw a brick through the marshal's window. And when he throws you in jail, saw your way out. And be sure Red's with you. All right, get going, Wiffle.
Pancho
Why we Ho, Cisco. Pancho, think we on our way out of the town.
Cisco Kid
We may change our minds and stay for a time, Pancho.
Pancho
What for, Cisco?
Cisco Kid
I just saw something very strange down there.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
What? What?
Cisco Kid
What? What? That blacksmith threw something through the window of the marshal's office. Break the window, see? Ooh. And the marshal came out and took him into the jail. And he made no resistance of any kind. Pancho, we are going back there. Come on. Diablo.
Marshal
Logo.
Cisco Kid
Go back there.
Pancho
Logo.
Cisco Kid
Where? All those other ombre Far away. You can be sure of that. Maybe they are planning a jailbreak, Chico. If they are, the marshal will need some help.
Pancho
He come to marshal out from the office. You see? Come back. Senior Marshal.
Marshal
So I see here. Well, I just arrested another rascal, boys. Mike Werfel. Look at that busting window. I can't imagine what got into words.
Cisco Kid
You look as if you were leaving for the day, Senor Marshal.
Marshal
Yes, I am, Cisco. Day's most ended, and I gently go home to my ranch about this time. My deputy will be here to take over in about an hour. I left a note for him.
Cisco Kid
Of course, it is none of my business, but if I were you, I would wait for the deputy. Or so I would put on one or two more deputies.
Pancho
But he may be four.
Marshal
No, I don't need them boys. I live a couple of miles out of town.
Cisco Kid
Just where do you live?
Marshal
Well, you see, you go straight south, follow the road, and it's the first place you come to out of town. Why don't you and Pancho come out with me now?
Cisco Kid
Gracias, but no. I think Pancho and I will wait around here for a while.
Marshal
Well, just as you please. I've got to go now. Sure. I'm much obliged to you both. Good night.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Buenas noches.
Pancho
Buenas noches.
Marshal
Get up.
Pancho
The Martian that stay while we stay, Cisco.
Cisco Kid
Because that is a bad gang, Pancho. And there are people in this town who might get hurt if someone does not stay. Come, let us go across the street and sit down under those trees. We can keep watch from there. Come on, dear.
Pancho
Come on, Lobo. Nobody else around here, Cisco.
Cisco Kid
Do not fool yourself, amigo. I have already seen three of those hombres who think they are hidden from view. Before this evening is over, Pancho, there is going to be plenty of trouble.
Red Toomey
Come on. Wear fo sh through that bar.
Marshal
I'm. I'm almost through this one.
Red Toomey
First thing I'm going to do is go to the marshal's office and get my guns. Then I'll come back and climb out that side window across from the cell.
Cisco Kid
Well, why not walk right out front?
Red Toomey
You heard that Cisco Kid in the Marshall talking, didn't you? Cisco's aiming to hang around here.
Marshal
You're a better man than he is, Red.
Red Toomey
Sure, but I ain't takin chances. I want to get out with a gang covering my getaway. I'm going to ride out to the Marshall ranch house and gun them down for taking me in.
Cisco Kid
Then what?
Red Toomey
Then I'm coming back and go after that Cisco Kid. If my boys ain't picked him off for them, as they probably will. Hustle up with that saw and whirl. I'm running out of patience.
Cisco Kid
Almost dark now, Cisco still around here, see? Hey, Pancho, stand up here.
Pancho
Wait, wait, wait.
Cisco Kid
Look across the street. Someone is coming out that side window.
Pancho
The one they call Red.
Cisco Kid
Say Madrea. We cannot let him escape. You stay here, Pancho. I'll go over there.
Pancho
And Pancho go too.
Cisco Kid
Cisco, the minute we start, those hombres will fire on us. You have some protection here among the trees.
Pancho
Pancho go too, Cisco.
Cisco Kid
Very well. Come on.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Open up on em, boys.
Pancho
Santo.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Bullets come close to Poto.
Pancho
Bullets come close. Where's the.
Cisco Kid
Pancho.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Pancho. Hi, coyotes. If you have killed Poncho, you will answer to me.
Narrator
And in the hail of bullets, Cisco stops to attend to the faithful Poncho. In just a moment, we'll return to the Cisco Kid. Now back to the Cisco Kid in our exciting story, voice of the 44. When Sisko and Pancho stopped to have Diablo shot in the little frontier town of Mesquite, the old marshal rushed over and asked Sisko's help in arresting Red Toomey, outlaw leader. Sisko obliged. Then, to his astonishment, the marshal left for his ranch, leaving the jail unguarded. Sisco, thinking of the unprotected townspeople, decided to stay. With the blacksmith's help, Red Toomey broke out of jail as Cisco and Pancho started across the street after him. They were met by a hail of bullets from Red's outlaws. And Poncho went down.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Now, extra stuff, boys. You got the pack.
Red Toomey
When now gets his.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Pancho. Pancho. Come close for you, you wobblies. I will give you something to dodge. You must get Pancho undercover in the marshal's office.
Marshal
Get him, boys.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Get it, Matronia. They're coming far too close for comfort.
Cisco Kid
At least we got undercover.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
A couple of you boys rushed to that office.
Pancho
Head hood.
Cisco Kid
Show me where it hurts, amigo. Take my hand and put it on your head. Bueno, Chico. Would have just grazed you. There's only a scratch.
Pancho
Poncho. Not dead, Cisco.
Cisco Kid
Not far from dead, Pancho. You're only stunned.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
I'll be back later, boys. Where you going, Red? Out your pair.
Marshal
Little call on the marshal.
Cisco Kid
Santos Bantiro will kill the marshal unless we can stop him.
Pancho
Here we go. She's good. You feel better now?
Cisco Kid
Those hombres have this place surrounded. Just a minute. We go out that door.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Keep your guns ready, boyo.
Cisco Kid
That side window the bandido climbed out of. Perhaps if I climb out there and get my hands on some of those bandidos.
Red Toomey
You wait here.
Cisco Kid
I will go and see.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
He may make a break for it. Keep your eyes open.
Cisco Kid
The hombre is right under the window. What is this? The blacksmith. You hurt?
Red Toomey
I guess not.
Cisco Kid
That coyote, Red Toomey gun whipped me after I cut away out of here for him. That is what you get for going along with such mavericks.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Well, they.
Cisco Kid
They made me. Well, I cannot help you now. I have work to do. I'm going out this window.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Watch that doorway, boys. Yeah, we're watching it, Mal. You are watching the wrong place, Homie. Cisco, get up on your feet.
Cisco Kid
Quickly.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Please don't fire, Cisco. Out my ribs.
Cisco Kid
Tell those buntyres of yours to walk out where I can see them all.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Unless you want me to pull this finger.
Marshal
No, no, no, no. Easy.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Come around this way, boys. All of you. What's the idea? Come on. Do as I say. Can't see much of anything in them shadows. Get your hands up, all of you.
Cisco Kid
I can see every one of you.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
In the light of that moon.
Cisco Kid
I have you all covered.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Stand where you are.
Cisco Kid
Take the constant no sombres.
Pancho
Here it is.
Cisco Kid
Do not get between me and them.
Pancho
Why don't you go behind them, Cisco?
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
You, the blacksmith inside the jail, get.
Cisco Kid
The marshal's keys from his office, then.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Open the doors of two of their cells.
Marshal
I sure will, with pleasure. Cisco. That double closet pack rat of a red tomby.
Pancho
Pancho De Go and Cisco.
Cisco Kid
Bueno, Pancho.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
All right, into the jail.
Cisco Kid
All of you.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Walk ahead of us. Hurry. I have no time to waste with coyotes like you.
Marshal
I'll have this cell door open and Chestnut.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
All right, now you and you. You enter that chair.
Marshal
Go on in there.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
All right, lock that door, blacksmith. The rest of you, into that other cell. Get in there.
Marshal
Come on.
Cisco Kid
There. Now, give me those keys. Ah, here you are, Banjo. Take them and open the next cell door here.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
All right, now, in you go. What do you mean, in I go? I've been helping you, see, I understand.
Cisco Kid
That the marshal put you in the jail.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
You will stay here until he let you go. All boys come, Pancho. We're right at top speed to the marshal's rancho. I hope it'll be in time.
Marshal
Oh.
Cisco Kid
Oh.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
There.
Red Toomey
Now we'll see what's what. Howdy, M. Howdy, Marsh. Howdy, Marshall.
Marshal
Red, to me.
Red Toomey
Don't reach for that gun.
Marshal
What are you doing here?
Red Toomey
You'll find out plenty soon.
Marshal
How'd you get out of jail?
Red Toomey
Why, your friend the Cisco Kid let me out.
Marshal
What? I don't believe.
Red Toomey
It don't make no difference to me what you believe and what you don't believe. You old buzzard, you own this ranch.
Marshal
I? Yeah, I do. Well, what about it?
Red Toomey
Got any relatives?
Marshal
No. All right.
Red Toomey
Where do you keep your writin paper and your pen and ink?
Marshal
You'll find some up on that shelf.
Red Toomey
Well, get up and get it. Put it on the table and sit down there again.
Marshal
Now, listen here, Rich.
Red Toomey
Get up and do as I say.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Come on. Come on.
Red Toomey
I ain't got all night. Now, sit down. Make this ranch of yours over to me.
Marshal
No.
Red Toomey
You don't put much value on your life then, do you, Marshal?
Marshal
That ain't the point.
Red Toomey
Sit down at that table.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
No.
Marshal
You're aiming to kill me anyway, so you ain't going to get my ranch.
Red Toomey
I'll give you till I count three to change your mind.
Cisco Kid
1.
Marshal
I won't change my mind. 2. Hear them horses coming this way, Red?
Red Toomey
Them some of my boys?
Marshal
It might not be. And if you fire, you might be help. A murder, you might be out.
Red Toomey
Right. Your wrist.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Let it out.
Marshal
Oh, come On, Poncho.
Red Toomey
You sure won't find me in here.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Senior Marshall, are you. We are too late, Poncho.
Pancho
Pancho, look at the marshall.
Marshal
Cisco.
Cisco Kid
Pancho, you stay here. Do what you can for the marshal.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
I'll go after that bandido.
Pancho
Stay, Cisco.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Easy, Diablo. I can just get my hands on that Bon Dito. Diablo. He's a fast horse. Diablo, chew up faster. Yeah, Diablo, we are gaining on him. Diablo, we are gaining fast.
Cisco Kid
So he stopped his horse and leaped.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Through the ground, eh, Hoyle? Ho ho.
Cisco Kid
Sure you want to fight it out, bandido, eh?
Red Toomey
That's right, Cisco. With guns there's light enough to see.
Cisco Kid
There is not quite enough light for me to see. Coyote. I'm coming closer.
Red Toomey
Stand back, Cisco. I'm warning you. I'm faster with a.44 than you are.
Cisco Kid
I can see you better now. You killer. You may draw anytime you wish. Well, I'm ready. What are you waiting for?
Red Toomey
Hey, I ain't right. Shoot that gun out of my hand, will you?
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
I'll kill you with my hands. You talk a deadly fight, Fontillo. Well, I think you are half as deadly as you sound. I'll you take get you yet. You will pardon me. I doubt that. I do doubt it. Suppose we end these fights right now. Now, Pandito, to tie you up, take you to jail.
Cisco Kid
After we stop by and see how the marshal is getting along.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Right, Thunder.
Marshal
Pancho, I tell you, I'm all right. Ain't no reason why I shouldn't go out there and give Cisco a hand with that red too.
Pancho
Me now you worry about Cisco. Cisco get out of that hombre, not walk up and dancing your muscles. You get tired out confounded.
Marshal
Poncho, I'm a man of action. It ain't fitting for me not to be out there doing my duty.
Pancho
Pancho thinks that your marshall better sit down. And Van neither gives you the big hit. You're not so strong as you think.
Marshal
Well, maybe you're right, Pancho. I guess as long as you won't let me leave, I might as well sit. Let me pull up this chair.
Pancho
That more better. Senor Marshall, you sit on a chair and Pancho tells you a story.
Marshal
You tell me a story. Why, look here, Pancho. I got more stories I could tell than a hound dog got free. Why, when I was a young fellow, there wasn't a faster man with a gun from St. Joe to the Rio Grande.
Pancho
Bet you're not so fast with a gun like Cisco.
Marshal
Nah, I don't know about that, Poncho. Cisco's Mighty fast. But yes, I remember the time.
Pancho
You remember the time, too? When Cisco fight 1520 hombres all at once. Cisco shoots.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Bang, bang, bang.
Pancho
And Cisco punched with his fist. Cisco pick up the hombres and bang their heads together. Bang, bang, bang.
Marshal
He did all that poncho?
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Yeah.
Pancho
Cisco do all this? 15, 20 hombres, maybe 30. Biggest five pines you ever see.
Marshal
Wasn't Cisco injured none? No.
Pancho
Cisco not get hurt after the big fight. Pine's so tired from watching that poncho got to lay down, but this couldn't tire at all.
Marshal
Well, sure must be quite a man. I think he's good at best.
Pancho
Cisco the greatest.
Cisco Kid
The. Well.
Marshal
Cisco the great one is the great. Like the time when I was quartering a blind canyon. I fight my way out.
Pancho
You had to fight him many times. One time, Bancho, remember?
Marshal
She's good. She's goody. She's nothing I like better. Better than a good.
Cisco Kid
Pancho. You all right then? Pancho must be dreaming. You see a marshall. Well, the marshal is getting well undressed. I guess I'll just let him sleep and take that red Tommy pantyo into chair myself.
Pancho
Cisco.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Hey, Pancho.
Pancho
Also you Maji a good man, no?
Cisco Kid
Oh, he was quite a man in his day, Pancho.
Pancho
He a good gunfighter, Xisco.
Cisco Kid
See, he was a good gunfighter. But even more, he was a great boxer.
Pancho
Boxer like this, with the fist.
Cisco Kid
Say, why do you know? At one time he came very close.
Pancho
To being a champion, Pancho that nothing, Cisco. One time, Pancho fighted the champion. You fought the champion, Pancho fight the.
Cisco Kid
Champion with your fist.
Pancho
This is good. With your fist.
Cisco Kid
Well, I never learned that before, Pancho.
Pancho
Pancho got the champion very worried, too.
Cisco Kid
You had the champion very worried.
Pancho
He in the third round.
Cisco Kid
Well, how did you have him worried, Chico?
Pancho
He hit Pancho so hard, he worried he killed me.
Red Toomey / Outlaw Leader
Oh, Pancho. Oh, she's cold.
