This podcast is for women longing for hope and healing in the midst of PMDD.
It focuses on helping you remember the truth and character of God and who you are in him when every cell in your body and mind is telling you to do otherwise.
It's about find our hope, strength and anchoring in Jesus through this thorn in the flesh called PMDD, while also seeking to alleviate suffering by aligning our lifestyle practices with how God designed and created our bodies.
This isn't a "I'm cured! Do exactly what I did". It's a "let's walk through this together, here's what I've found helpful along the way".
If we haven't met, I'm Lauren Collins, the host of this podcast! I've been a registered nurse for over a decade, and my passion ever since being diagnosed with PMDD has been to help women on their own journeys. I'm also a mama, follower of Jesus, lover of lavender and farmer's markets, and yes, someone who has dealt with PMDD since I was 16.
My goal with this podcast is to ultimately point you to Christ as the one who walks with you through your PMDD struggles, and to stick with him whether you find healing or you continue to struggle your whole life this side of heaven. I will bring evidence-based research to you regarding PMDD, provide encouragement through Scripture and prayer and have guests who will also cheer you on.
So glad you're here.

Happy Thursday! As a mom with PMDD, have you ever had the thought: "the way I'm responding is not how I want to live" after yelling again or losing it or just feeling like you have no capacity to hold it together for another minute? You want to live in line with the Holy Spirit and to be a mom of peace, joy and gentleness, but it feels so out of reach sometimes. In this episode, I'm chatting with Kennedy Taylor and her whole message is "mothering with the Holy Spirit". This is such a needed topic, as Christian moms who struggle with emotional regulation, debilitating anxiety, depression, rage or despair on a monthly basis. May you be blessed from this conversation! Lauren Kennedy Taylor is a wife, mother of three, and faith-based mentor passionate about encouraging women to thrive in motherhood through intimacy with Christ. Through her mentorship, Kennedy helps mothers grow spiritually, regulate their emotions, and apply biblical wisdom to the everyday challenges of motherhood. She equips women with practical tools to cultivate order in their homes, respond instead of overreact, and find joy and purpose in this season of raising their children. Hey friends. This episode is not a regularly scheduled one, but me sharing some recent difficult news about my pregnancy and inviting you into a process of meditating on Scripture with me when things seem to not go as planned. Scripture is more than just words. Hebrews 4:12 tells us it's living and active. So when we choose to come to it, through times of joy and sorrow, it will change us. It will strengthen, comfort, encourage and renew us, because the Holy Spirit is always behind it. I would love for you to be a part of this journey and to also reflect on these verses with me throughout the month of May, even with your own hard news, suffering or trial. Have you ever wondered what happens to your PMDD if/ when you get pregnant, or after you have baby? Does it just disappear and you're in the clear for the next 9 months or longer, since it's cycle related? In this episode, I talk about the parallels of PMDD with these other hormonally-sensitive seasons, and how symptoms may show up. It not only gives you some understanding as to what's going on in your body in these seasons, but also some practical ways to prepare so you're not caught off guard. I hope this episode is helpful! This episode is for you if A) you're trying to figure out if you have premenstrual dysphoric disorder, or B) you know you have it, but you are feeling overwhelmed or lost on how to manage it. I cover 4 specific topics that will help you navigate PMDD that much easier. They're almost like that initial roadmap that so many of us wish we had or are longing for in this battle with PMDD. I understand there are a million other things that can be done to help manage PMDD, but if you're already on the overwhelm bus, then having a 60 point to-do list won't help minimize that list. So let's start here, and go from there, okay? Let's start with grace and curiosity towards ourselves, and work on putting the self-blame and self-criticism on the shelf. ~ Lauren Next Steps: 50% off The Luteal Prep Guide for the month of April for PMDD Awareness Month. When you think of your struggle with premenstrual dysphoric disorder, do you feel there are certain things PMDD has "stolen" from you? Broken relationships? Distorted thoughts? Feelings of inadequacy? In this episode, I go through 7 of those things I've identified in my own life. It's a reflection that brings with it a lot of grief and lament, and reminds me of the brokenness still in this world, in my body and in my relationships. But as it's Easter this month, we also know that there is a hope beyond the symptoms and broken relationships or dreams. I talk about all of this in this episode. I encourage you to also reflect on what PMDD has "stolen" from you, but know that Christ is still Lord and in control. ~ Lauren Next Steps: 50% off The Luteal Prep Guide for the month of April for PMDD Awareness Month. This week we're doing a replay episode from way back in September of 2024! Maybe you've heard about how your body needs different foods in each phase of your cycle, and this episode takes a deep dive into this with my friend Danika Vanderpyl. As women, we're not linear, robotic creatures that require one thing to fuel us all month long. Throughout each of the phases, our bodies need different things- different movement, self/ soul-care, socializing, nutrition. And this is exactly what Danika and I chat about in this episode. The best part of it? In our conversation, she breaks it all down into more simple and bite-size strategies so you're not feeling extra overwhelmed. Because, really friend, you don't need more overwhelm than what you're already experiencing! I'd highly encourage you to grab a notebook and pen and take notes! Danika Vanderpyl is Certified in Holistic Nutrition with a passion for helping women making eating simple, energizing, and healthy. After facing her own digestive challenges, Danika transformed her favorite recipes into nutrient dense, low-sugar alternatives to heal her body. Now a food blogger she share these wholesome recipes at besidethemoutain.com. As a mom of two boys, Danika is passionate about helping women and mothers thrive in holistic living—from eating to heal the body to hiking to recharge and thrive. For the month of March, nutrition is what we’re talking about! If you’ve ever wondered where to start with food and what you’re putting into your body when it comes to helping manage your PMDD symptoms, I’m sharing it all here on this episode! What I’m talking about are the core foundations for helping regulate blood sugar and reduce inflammation. These are a great (and essential!) place to start. This is really getting to the heart of what we're putting into our bodies every day, every meal. And this matters. Because before the supplements, before the deep hormone protocols, before trying one more “quick fix,” your body needs stability. It needs steady fuel. It needs nourishment that supports your nervous system, your hormones, and your brain. When blood sugar is constantly spiking and crashing, it can magnify anxiety, irritability, rage, and hopelessness. When inflammation is high, symptoms often feel louder and heavier. So in this episode, we’re going back to basics. Simple shifts. Practical changes. The kind that create a foundation you can actually build on. If you’ve been wondering where the heck to begin, listen in. Have you ever questioned whether your PMDD symptoms are spiritual attacks, or something darker, rather than something happening in your body? Have you thought: if I just believed harder, prayed more and was a better Christian, I wouldn't be dealing with all of this? If these thoughts and more have come up, you're not alone. Women with PMDD who are also Christians deal with these doubts and questions every cycle, making it harder and harder to understand whether this is purely physical or spiritual. What if it was both? In today's episode, I tackle this hard topic of whether PMDD is just women coming under demonic influence, or something else. As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this topic! Anger is one of those big PMDD symptoms that we don't love talking about. It feels uncontrollable, like you're being taken over by something. And then when it's all said and done, the shame and guilt are just as all-consuming. In this guest interview episode with Elizabeth Andreyevskiy, an anger coach for Christian moms, we dive deep into what is going on below the surface when it comes to anger, rage, extreme irritability. This episode might bring out the "oh, I've been there" in you, but more importantly, Elizabeth helps you walk to the feet of Jesus where grace and gentleness live.
