The socials are a buzz these days and with that the flood gates of opinions and demands have stepped up from influencers and friends. Today I'm going to share why you're hearing about politics from laundry and knitting instagram sites, proving the neutrality is a myth, and how you can prove faithful in the midst of a social frenzy.➕➕➕➕➕➕➕➕➕➕➕Need a Bible Reading Plan?Go to sheprovesfaithful.com/bible➕➕➕➕➕➕➕➕➕➕➕Support the showLove wellness products for your whole family? In this episode:In a recent conversation with a friend she said " Children don't need happy endings, they need just endings." Today I will explore the virtue of justice and it's role not only in stories, but also in real life application and answer questions like is there justice if you forgive, and can mercy ever be cruel?Text me your thoughts:Have you read Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte? There's something about the turning of seasons, especially the fading of summer into fall, that reminds me of Psalm 90:12 when Moses prayed, "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." Maybe it's the leaves showing their final act of glory before they let go, leaving behind bare branches, cold and dormant, or even seeing the skeletons pop up in neighborhood yards, jesting about death the deaf, but calling to the wise Momento Mori - remember you will die so lay down personal glory and serve the One true God. The shorter days slip quickly into evening just like how time to slips quickly into the future. It's not a dour season, but a gracious marker to number our days knowing we are but a vapor. Live fully but live faithfully. God is our hope and our glory.SPF 225: Memento Mori - episode 225https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/spf-225-memento-mori-celebrating-with-skeletons/id1116242133?i=1000584187163Michael Foster X post: https://x.com/thisisfoster/status/1979550281697255489Support the showLove wellness products for your whole family? Simple musings that hopefully produce some practical application. Topics include laundry, the idol of precision and withholding truth because of fear of not getting it perfect, why kids should be in church and ideas of how to train them.We shouldn't base our decisions on how fruitful we think we are going to be. We should be obedient and faithful to what God has called us to do.Lots of Laundry talk in the first 9 minutes9:06 - Precision as a form of perfectionism (idolatry and fear) 25:30 - Kids in church -------------------------------Need a Bible reading plan?sheprovesfaithful.com/bible-------------------------------Links from this episode:https://natashacrain.com/podcast/The X post read in this episode: https://x.com/natasha_crain/status/1968721694006329493?s=46SPF210: Christian Culture & Training Children for Sunday Morning https://www.sheprovesfaithful.com/2022/04/28/episode210/Support the showLove wellness products for your whole family? Send me a Text Message! (I can't directly respond, but I can answer questions and share comments in upcoming episodes! As we see the fruit of wickedness unfold each day in our nation I have to truths to give balm to the soul and sobering perspective as we live in our small window of time. In Job 21:14-15 Job says of the wicked: "They say to God, ‘Depart from us! We do not desire the knowledge of your ways. What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? And what profit do we get if we pray to him?’"All of our days are numbered. Yours. Mine. Our children. The wicked. The difference is that when our day comes and our breath is cut off, we will be with God. Fully healed whole justified. But for the unrepentant - only God's wrath.God is not mocked. We all deserve death. But Christ alone delivers. ----------------------------Lennox Kalifungwa: https://x.com/LennoxKal/status/1966264085420630019Matthew Henry Job 21 commentary: https://www.christianity.com/bible/commentary/matthew-henry-complete/job/21Surveying the Text: Nahum: https://dougwils.com/the-church/s8-expository/surveying-the-textnahum.htmlSupport the showLove wellness products for your whole family? Proverbs 18:2 says "A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion." Today I am going to share why pursuing a well educated mind is not only helpful in not being the fool, but is actually part of being a faithful Christian. Plus I have a few practical tips to help you jumpstart your own journey of growing in understanding and wisdom.------Non HE Top Loader Washers with agitators are superior - Change my Mind.Text me your laundry hacks and woes.------The Bible stays GET wisdom, GET understanding. This is not just the accumulation of knowledge but of understanding that grows into wisdom."No man is obliged to learn and know everything; this can neither be sought nor required, for it is utterly impossible. Yet all persons are under some obligation to improve their own understanding, otherwise it will be a barren desert or a forest overgrown with weeds and brambles. Universal ignorance or infinite errors will overspread the mind, which is utterly neglected and lies without any cultivation." - Isaac Watts------Stay tuned for PART TWO! "Your life will contribute to a grand and wonderful story, no matter what you do. You and I are spoken. We will contribute to the narrative. But how?" How do we make great stories out of our lives? Today I'm sharing some ideas about living great stories and the blessedness of trouble and obstacles that get us there.Death By Living - N.D. Wilson"They had reached their deaths by living. So will we. How much is the Vineyard can we burn first? How fast can we run? How deeply can we laugh? Can we ever give more than we receive? How much gratitude can we show? How many of the least of these can we touch along the way? How many seeds will we get into the ground before we ourselves are planted?""We must not attribute our afflictions to fortune, for they are from God, nor our sins to fate, for they are from ourselves; so that, whatever trouble we are in, we must own that God sends it upon us and we procure it to ourselves: the former is a reason why we should be very patient, the latter why we should be very penitent, when we are afflicted." -Matthew HenrySupport the showLove wellness products for your whole family? Have you ever heard negative things about the left hand or being left handed because the Bible refers positively to the right hand so many times? That's a false dichotomy and it's a logical fallacy that can trip us up when it comes to understanding theology. Today I will help us spot some classic unbiblical contrasts and how we can help our kids recognize this fallacy in regular scripture reading too.Life Hack at 6:10Check out the Zevo Flying Insect Light: https://a.co/d/3UkE0EDFalse Dichotomies at 8:06Links to ResourcesFaith vs Science: https://answersingenesis.org/what-is-science/science-or-the-bible/Law vs Liberty: https://learn.ligonier.org/articles/liberty-vs-lawGospel vs Social Justice: https://learn.ligonier.org/articles/do-we-believe-whole-gospelFree Bible Reading Plan: sheprovesfaithful.com/bibleGraphic and Web Design & Marketing with Andy Hlushak: andyhlushak.comSupport the showLove wellness products for your whole family?
