All right, friends, today we're going to chat about backlinks. And while it is definitely not the most exciting topic when it comes to marketing your business and improving your SEO and getting found and clicked on in sales from search, backlinks matter. And if you're not getting backlinks to your website, then you're never going to build domain authority and you're never going to be able to go for bigger keywords, key keywords that are more competitive and have a higher search volume. So listen in because I'm going to tell you what nobody wants to tell you about getting high quality backlinks for better SEO. Ready? Let's go. Hey there fellow entrepreneur. Welcome to simple SEO and marketing. Do you want to grow your business with sustainable traffic sources? Have you heard about the power of search engine optimization? And you want to take advantage of it to get more traffic, more eyeballs on your business. But when it comes down to it, does SEO feel complicated and hard to implement? What if I could tell you that there was a simple, proven system for using SEO, blogging and copywriting to get leads from your website and not just any leads high. Hi. Converting leads. Hey, I'm Faith Hannon, wife, mama, copywriter, SEO strategist and barrel racer. And for the last eight years I've been figuring out what works and what doesn't work in the world of online marketing to get organic traffic. And now I'm here to share all the things I'm learning in the trenches of SEO, copywriting and content marketing. How does 300%, 500% or even 12,000% more traffic in a year sound? What could your business do with that kind of traffic increase? How many more people could you help? So listen in and prepare to take note. I'm about to drop simple, actionable SEO, marketing and copywriting tips all with a heavy dose of Jesus loving encouragement. Let's get you more traffic and more leads so you can help more people with your God given gifts. All right, first and foremost, what is a backlink? Well, a backlink is just simply a URL, a link on a website that links to another website. And when you are trying to build your website, get more traffic to leads from and sales from your website as you should using great SEO practices. Backlinks on are a factor. So a backlink essentially serves a few purposes. One, it shows Google and other search engines that what you are producing is good enough. That Other people want to reference it. So think about if you are like, if you are somebody who you're trying to learn about basketball, right? And you're just all in trying to learn how to be a better basketball player. Like you, you're going to study the greats, you're going to study MJ, okay? You're going to probably study LeBron, you're going to study Scottie Pippen, you're going to study, you know, Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson and all of these landmark players. You're going to study Caitlin Clark, okay? You're going to study all of these landmark players that have made a difference in the sport, made a difference in the game. And so eventually you're going to reference some of their stuff and duplicate their stuff, learn from their stuff within your own play, okay? Within your own game. And so what, what backlinks essentially do is they show Google that your stuff is good enough to look at, good enough to replicate, and good enough to reference like MJ's classic dunk, right? Like people talk about that forever and, and it's like telling Google, hey, this piece of content is something that is worth looking at. It builds your street cred, okay? Nobody has to explain who Michael Jordan is because he has so much street cred. He has so many stats backing up his game and backing up his success. And your website, you want to be the same. And one of the ways you do that is through creating high quality backlinks, okay? The purpose of backlinks that search engines wants to, wants to see is, oh, lots of people like this and are recommending this, talking about this, linking to this. It must be good. Now, old school backlink practices were and you know, still are in a lot of ways, super, super shady. Like super shady old school backlink practices look like emails that I still get in my inbox. Like, will you please link to this? And like, no, I don't even know who you are. I'm not linking to your stuff or the spam comments that you get on your blog that people are just dropping a link. Or some agencies will even offer to quote, create backlinks for you and drop all of these low quality spam backlinks. Now, fortunately, Google is cracking down on that. They realize that there's a lot of shady practices or have been a lot of shady backlink practices going on that are not like a genuine recommendation from another website, right? And so old school shady backlink practices, they're going out. Thank the Lord, because they were not good anyway. And now Google still cares about backlinks, but they're harder to get because the spammy practices don't work. What nobody wants to tell you about getting high quality backlinks and building your domain authority is this. It takes work, it takes time and it takes work, okay? But in the end it's going to be worth it because they're genuine. So a couple of, couple of quick recommendations for getting high quality backlinks are this. I want you to make some genuine collaborations, genuine collaborations with other people in business so that you can make some genuine recommendations. That way when you're linking to something, you're linking to a website that is a legitimate website, that's run by a real person and hopefully there's a connection between your page and theirs that makes sense, right? Like it wouldn't make any sense for my website to be recommending Goldendoodle Breeder, right? There's no connection there. So. So you want to pursue backlinks from sites that there's a genuine connection. Like your brain can connect the two dots and Google's brain can connect the two dots, but it is possible, it is possible to get genuine backlinks, but again, those genuine backlinks are going to come from genuine connections. It's kind of funny though because just last week I had three students and clients. Three, three total, right? One was a client, two were students that I just saw a connection between, you know, how they could help each other. And I was like, hey, let me reach out and see if this is okay. And so I was just able to be like, hey, you could do a blog swap on this and this and you could drop some backlinks and that would get both of you a high quality backlink. And so just even being inside of, you know, group coaching with other students, inside of masterminds with other business owners, excuse me, just even that can help create some connections and you know, be talking grounds for, for backlinks. So just know getting backlinks does take work, but it's going to help build your street cred for SEO and it's going to help you build your domain authority, which is the same thing as street cred, and help you be able to eventually go for bigger keywords with a more difficult search difficulty and a higher search volume. But it comes through genuine collaborations, genuine recommendations and creating kick butt content that people want to link to.
