All right, y'all, I promised you today that we would talk about the most unconventional but highly effective keyword research strategy that you can do today from the comfort of your chair or desk or wherever you happen to find yourself. Probably not one that you can do while you're on a walker run, but when you get back, you can do it. Okay, so yesterday we talked about how not doing keyword research is the number one factor killing your SEO growth. Essentially because you're trying to get found for maybe a thing that doesn't actually exist in search, or you're putting all your time and effort into catching fish. The wrong fish with the wrong bait. Okay? So you have to, have to, have to, have to do keyword research if you want to see the SEO growth that I know you want to see. Okay? Because if you're not getting that traffic, your competitors are. And are they actually going to serve your people as well as you are? I don't know. You tell me. But today, what we're going to talk about is my very unconventional but very, very effective first step to keyword research. Okay? And here's what I want you to do. I want you to pause this recording and get out a piece of paper. Yes, an actual piece of paper, preferably blank printer Paper with nothing on it. Okay? Pause it and get a piece of paper and a marker or whatever you like to write with. Okay? All right, now have you, have you your piece of paper? Do you have your piece of paper in your hand? Nod your head. Nod your head. Okay, and here's what I want you to do. I want you to take your piece of paper and I want you to split it into six sections, okay? Folder, fold it, hot dog. And then three more times, okay? And I want you to split your paper into six sections. And what we're going to do is we're going to do keyword research on paper. And if you're like faith, you're dumb. This isn't actual keyword research. This is me writing things down on paper. You are so right. It's not actually research. Okay? But what I have found in working with so many clients and students is that if you start your keyword research on tech or with the keyword research tool, it often always hinders your creativity and keeps your brilliantly smart brain, brilliantly smart, God given brain from doing the work that you're able to do. So what we're going to do is we're going to brainstorm ideas to then research paper, okay? Because I don't want you to get caught up in the tech. I don't want you to get thinking about, oh, is this how it says, Is this how it said, where am I supposed to click? What am I supposed to do? What's the best tool? Like? No, we're just going to sit and think about your business and your client. Okay? So now you have your paper split into six sections and I want you to title them. The first one is going to be titled Problem. The second one is Promise. The third section is actually split into two subsections. The person them your ideal client, and the person you. Okay, so two little mini titles in section three and section four is your first content bucket, section five is your second content bucket, and section six is your third content bucket. All right, now why are we doing this? Why? Well, because we need to think through how people are going to potentially be saying these things without actually doing the research. Okay? So now what I want you to do is in section number one, your problem section, I want you to write down, man, at least five different ways that some that you could say the problem that you solve. All right? Do you help organize homes, Tidy homes, plan out home organization, design, like think through different ways that you could say and talk about the problem that you solve. Okay? And even if this is something that you've done before, I want to encourage you to do it again. Because as you grow, as your business grows, as your audience grows, as keyword research changes, because, hi. People change and the way people talk changes as things change and progress, you're going to have to rethink through some of these things occasionally. So even if you've done this before, I want you to do it again. Okay? So you're going to brainstorm three to five ways that somebody might be searching for or that you could even just describe the problem that you solve. Okay? Three to five ways. Ten is even better. Okay. And then in section two, I want you to brainstorm three to five ways that you could talk about the promise that you deliver. How do you help people? Do you get them from 30 pounds overweight to their ideal body weight? Like, what's the promise that you get them from going from point A to point B? What is the promise of your product, your service, your course, your whatever? Do you promise that at the end of this, they will be able to read faster and retain information better? Great. So you could talk about. I promise that your reading speed will improve by xyz. The promise would be that they will learn to retain reading information. They will be better at taking tests. What is the promise that you deliver? And section number three, where we talk about the person them. The reason why this section is divided into two is because it's hard to put seven sections on a paper. But really it's because sometimes, just depending on the industry, somebody is not necessarily searching for themselves for some searches, and they're not always exactly searching for you with other searches. And so the importance of this type of keyword is going to vary industry by industry. Like if you're a plumber, right? People know that they're searching for a plumber, but if you are a financial management coach, they're probably not searching for that exactly. There may be searching for, you know, just a different way to phrase that. Okay. And then if it's the. If you're talking through the person them, maybe the solution that you offer is actually really tailored to a specific type of person. Right? Home workouts for moms is a vastly different product, you know, or packaged product than gym workouts for bodybuilders. Right? You may have some of the same methodology, but how you package it and how you market it is going to be vastly different. So in section number three, I want you to brainstorm person them like your ideal client. What they would call themselves, not whether they call themselves a cat or A human. But like, whether they're calling themselves a mom, I'm on a mompreneur, a work at home dad, a, you know, college student, or an aspiring college student, a first generation college student, like whatever they're calling themselves as it relates to what you sell. And then you're also going to brainstorm some different ways that people might be searching for you or how you might introduce yourself. This is not your fancy elevator pitch. I don't want some made up phrase. I want something that's crystal clear. But sometimes there's different ways to say something, right? Like I could say that I'm a marketing strategist, I could say that I'm a copywriter, I could say that I'm an SEO consultant. All of those things are true to what I do. But what are people saying? Right? You've got to just get the ideas out of our head and onto paper. Okay? And then when it comes to your content buckets, I want you to, if you haven't already, break down the three general topics that you talk about into three categories and we'll call them content buckets. Some people call them content pillars. Same dang thing. Okay? But what they are is it's three things. Three general buckets, if you will, of topics that you talk about. Like if you are a postpartum coach, right, you're going to talk about the physical healing, you're going to talk about self care, and you're going to talk about, you know, taking care of baby and, and, and maybe those aren't your topics. I'm just making that up. I'm obviously not a postpartum coach, but you're going to break them into three topics. Three general buckets of topics. You don't have to get super specific as far as like planning out your content here, but I want you to think about like the questions that people are asking within those three different buckets. Okay? Are people searching for, if you're a leather maker, right, Are they searching for how to get started carving leather? Are they searching for the best leather for beginners? The best, the best leather carving tools? Are they searching for how to make money carving leather? Are they searching for how to make their own belt? Like, what are they searching for? You could talk about work, life balance, if that's what you're teaching people. Like, whatever it is, just break it into three buckets and brainstorm ideas on paper. And again, this is really important to do on paper first so that the technology doesn't get in our way. And so we don't get intimidated by it or distracted by it. And there's also a lot to be said for the creative juices in our brain flowing when we actually physically write versus typing. So make sure to actually do this on paper. Now what's the tip? Remember, remember what the tip is to do your keyword research air quotes on paper first. Okay? You're going to take your paper and split it into six sections and label them, problem, promise person them person you section three is split into two, okay? And then your content bucket one, content bucket two and content bucket three. Set a timer for literally only like 15 minutes and get a bunch of ideas out of your head and onto paper. And I promise you this will make your keyword research on the actual keyword research tool go so much smoother because you've already used your brain. You've already gotten your God given ideas flowing and out onto paper without letting the technology influence those ideas. Okay?
