Faith Hannon
All right, y'all. So the entire goal for the episode coming at you today is just to straight up kick the devil in the teeth. Because I really feel like there are a lot of lies holding Christian entrepreneurs back from really fully stepping into their God given callings and fully doing the things that God has called them to do in the marketplace and in the world and the kingdom as a whole. And so today we are diving into three lies that are holding you back or some people back as a Christian entrepreneur and scriptures to just kick those lies in the teeth. Are you ready? Cuz I'm pumped. Let's go. Hey there fellow entrepreneur. Welcome to simple SEO and marketing. Do you want to grow your business with sustainable traffic sources? Have you heard about the power of search engine optimization? And you want to take advantage of it to get more traffic, more eyeballs on your business. But when it comes down to it, does SEO feel complicated and hard to implement? Are you tired of wondering what in the heck to do with your website to get more traffic and more leads knocking on your door? What if I could tell you that there was a simple, proven system for using SEO, blogging and copywriting to get leads from your website and not just any leads, high converting leads. Hey, I'm Faith Hannon, wife, mama, copywriter, SEO strategist, and barrel racer. And for the last eight years I've been figuring out what works and what doesn't work in the world of online marketing to get organic traffic. And now I'm here to share all the things I'm learning in the trenches of SEO, copywriting and content marketing. How does 300%, 500% or even 12,000% more traffic in a year sound? What could your business do with that kind of traffic increase? How many more people could you help? So listen in and prepare to take notes. I'm about to drop simple, actionable SEO, marketing and copywriting tips, all with a heavy dose of Jesus loving encouragement. Let's get you more traffic and more leads so you can help more people with your God given gifts. All right, so true story. I was planning out my content for upcoming months and you know, just really trying to be really strategic. And I had everything lined out and I just felt like it wasn't quite right. And so I sat down, kind of restarted my planning process and this episode and this topic was really heavy on my heart and I sat down to write and it all just absolutely flowed. And I was like, all right, we're doing it, yo. Because I think, slash, I know there are so many Christians, Christian entrepreneurs, Christians who want to be entrepreneurs who struggle with a lot of lies, a lot of attack of the enemy, and a lot of times we don't recognize them as lies because, you know, sometimes they're, they feel pretty logical. And let's be real here, every lie, every good lie has a slight element of truth, right? You're not going to sell somebody on a lie that is completely bizarre and doesn't have any logic at all. But the fact of the matter is that no matter what thought you have coming at you, truth or lie, you have to, I have to, we have to filter it through the word of God. What does the word say about this piece of information, about this idea? And if we learn to do that automatically, then those lies don't get to stick around very often. Now, full. Just let me, let me preface this with this. If you have felt some of these lies, if you have felt some of these thoughts, don't beat yourself up about it, okay? Now you know better, so you can do better. And having heard these lies whispered in your ear by the enemy does not make you a bad Christian. It does not make you a failure. One of my favorite preachers and one of my fathers in the faith said, you can, you can't keep the birds from flying over your head, but you can keep them from building a nest in your hair. And what that means, translation is, you know what? We live in a fallen world. We live on an earth with a curse. The enemy prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour, right? He can't get at God, so he tries to get at you because you're made in the image of God and God loves you. But, right? We don't have to let him build a nest in our hair with those lies, right? He's going to throw the lies out there. Culture is going to throw the lies out there, right? Society is going to throw lies out there. But we don't have to allow those lies to take up residence in our thought life and build a nest in our hair. So if you have heard lies, if you've heard, you know, culture or the enemy whisper in your ears some of these lies, don't beat yourself up about it, right? It's not a, you are a hot mess, broken disaster. It's a, we live in a fallen world. We live in a broken world and the enemy is always out seeking whom he may devour. But God always causes us to triumph, right? So here are some of these lies, three lies, and some scriptures to kick them in the teeth and Some encouragement for you. Okay, Some. So the number one lie that I want to talk about today, the first lie that I want to talk about is the feeling that your gift isn't needed or valuable. And I know we live in this world where we get to see everybody else's lives, we get to see their highlights, we get to see, you know, quote the BTs behind the scenes, a day in the life stuff. We get to see so much from other people's lives that honestly, I don't think we were ever intended to see. We weren't built to see. Right. Because we only get a one dimensional picture through social media and through, you know, whatever avenue. We're not in a face to face situation, but that's another story. But in seeing all of that and seeing bits and pieces of other people's lives, comparison, the comparison trap is real. And so it's really easy to look at somebody else and be like, oh, man, I'm not as good at XYZ as they are, so my gift isn't needed. My gift isn't valuable. And that is a lie from the pit of hell. And here's some scripture for you, okay? And this is from 1 Corinthians, chapter 12. And it says in the NLT, the human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one spirit, and we all share the same spirit. Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. If the foot says, I'm not a part of the body because I'm a hand, that does not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear says, I am not a part of the body because I'm not an eye, would that make it any less a part of the body? If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything? But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. How strange a body would be if it only had one part. Yes, there are many parts, but only one body. The eye can never say to the hand, I don't need you. The head can't say to the foot, I don't need you. In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary. And the parts we regard as less honorable are those we clothe with the greatest care so we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen, while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity. This makes for harmony among the members so that all the members care for each other. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it. And if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. All of you together are Christ's body and each one of you is a part of it. And y'all, I think sometimes it is so. It's so easy to look at somebody else's gift and see the value and then inadvertently degrade or downplay the value of your gift. And I am here as your sister in Christ to tell you your gift is needed. There are pieces and parts in the body of Christ, both locally and globally, that are missing because Christians have not boldly stepped into their calling. I'm going to say that again. There are pieces and parts of the body of Christ, both locally and globally, that are missing or weak because Christians have not boldly stepped into their God given callings. Now, whether your calling is specifically to business or specifically to, you know, another area in the marketplace or serving in the local church full time, like whatever your calling is, it's needed and we need you to do it boldly. We need you to do it with love. We need you to do with the fruit of the Spirit flowing through you. But we need you to do it because without you doing your part, the body does not function at full, full capacity. And so stop buying the lie that your gift isn't needed, that your gift isn't valuable. Kick the devil in the teeth with this scripture every time he comes at you with that lie or a variation of it. All right, all right. And the second lie I want to kick in the teeth today is that somebody else is already doing that thing or doing something similar. Now I understand that. Right? It's easy to look at your circle of people in the marketplace that you're familiar with and think, oh, there's already somebody doing it. Oh, there's already somebody doing that. I don't need to do it. I don't have anything new to offer. And if we look at this like in a global church versus a local church example, we could be like, oh, there's already somebody who can sing in the world. They don't need me to sing. Or even in the local church, right? Oh, there's already one good singer. They don't need me. Well, no. Have you ever heard Two really great singers sing in harmony. The harmony created from both singers using their gifts, staying in their lane and working together is amazing. It's amazing. And I have a fun example for you from some real life conversations lately in business. So I had two conversations with two friends in business. They don't know each other, but we're, we're both in like, similar types of businesses, right? And they were talking about, you know, what they've been doing for business growth, blah, blah, blah, blah. And they said, yeah, my business coach. I said, oh, who's your business coach? One lady rattled off one gal's name and I was like, oh, that's cool. I've never heard of her. How do you like her? And she, you know, tells me some more. And I was like, that's awesome. I'm happy for you. Blah, blah, blah. Skip to the next question and the next person, right? And we're talking about it, same type of conversation. And she said something about her business coach, and I was like, oh, who's your business coach? And she rattles off a name again. Somebody I've never heard of, which to me was so stinking exciting. Because here are two women that are, I mean, we're probably all the same target demographic and they are both working with different business coaches that I've never even heard of before. Because there are more than enough people that need help getting coached in their business, right? There are more than enough people that need help with their business. There are more than enough people that need reach for the kingdom of God. There are more than enough people who need what you can offer. And yes, there's probably already somebody doing something very similar to what you're doing. And that's okay. You're going to have a unique way of doing it, and you should, because you are unique. All right, now listen. We serve a creative God. He created a monkey with a rainbow colored butt and makes every snowflake unique, right? Like, do you think he ran out of ideas for you? No, we serve a creative God. And he made you unique for this time and this market and this world right now. So quit playing small, okay? And there are gonna be people who learn better from one person over another or who pick up different things from one educator that they don't pick up from another. Now, I was, I was listening to a YouTube podcast, whatever episode about rodeos, and there's this guy being interviewed who he is just like champion of champions right now. His name is Stetson Wright. He's won just a ton of stuff and he rides Bulls. And he's also a saddle bronc rider. And the guy interviewing him asked him, well, who have you learned from in bull riding? And he said, oh, well, actually my dad. He said, yeah, my dad was a really good bull rider before. He was a really great bronc rider. He said, but when I was growing up, I did not want to hear what he had to say. I was like, you're a bronc rider, you don't know anything about riding bulls. And so he goes on in his career riding bulls, and he meets this other bull rider, finally gets to meet this guy who's just won a ton. And he starts asking this guy, like, you know, hungry for information. You know, this, this known champion starts asking him, like for all of these little tidbits of information. And he said, that guy just repeated back to me exactly what my dad had been telling me my whole life, which was just made me giggle because it's like, you know what? He was ready to learn from this other guy and he wasn't ready to learn from his dad. He went on and course correct and was like, from that point on, I was just, okay, dad, what do I do? But I just think it's funny how sometimes we think, oh, there's already somebody teaching about whatever it is you teach about. And we forget that there's going to be certain things that somebody wants to learn from you about that they don't necessarily hear it from somebody else. And that is okay. That's okay. All right. And lie number three that we're gonna kick in the teeth. Ready? Is that I don't have what I need to be successful. And y'all, this is a biggie. This is a big one, okay? And part of the issue is sometimes not issue, but part of what causes us, you know, to like get trapped in this is. I feel like quite often God will give us the long term vision. Like he'll show us the vision of where he wants us to go with XYZ thing, like, you know, 50 miles down the road. But then we're like, oh, well, I need to know the 4,500 steps to get there. But when in reality, God wants us to trust him and be obedient step by step by step to get there. But we have the vision of where we're going, okay? And y'all, it's so God, right? Isn't that so God? To be like, okay, here's the vision. This is where I want you to head now, here's the first step. And I truly believe that that's because without faith, it's impossible to please God. If we knew all 4,500 steps we were going to take to get there, we'd either get overwhelmed, right? Or think we could do it on our own. All right? And maybe you don't have everything you need to be successful at that level, but I can promise you, you have what you need to be obedient today. Now, a verse that we've been using a lot in my home lately is Philippians 2:13, where it says, for God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. You may not have what you need in 10 years. You may not have what you need to have in 10 years, but you do have what you need today to be obedient today, to use what's in your hand today. Okay? And here's a little thing that I feel like is not talked about enough. You will grow in the going. There are things that you are going to learn how to do that when you look back and you're like, holy cow, I learned how to do that. That's amazing. Or there are things that will fall off of you as you just grow in the Lord and keep going with him. You will grow in the going. Now, Hebrews also talks about throwing off the things that so throwing off the sins that so easily beset us. And I think a big part of our problem as Christians today is we don't know where we're going. We don't have any vision. And so we get trapped up in easy, piddly, dumb sins that ultimately destroy us because we don't have any vision for our life, and we don't go anywhere. And I truly believe that when you get God's vision for your life and you are just faithful to say, okay, Lord, what do I need to do today? And then do it. What do I need to do today? And then do it. You will grow in the going. All right. Also, I want to encourage you here to be faithful with the little things, right? You're not ready for what God has for you 10 years from now. You're not. I'm not. You're ready for what God has for you today. Be faithful with what God has for you today, and you will get ready for the good things God has for you 10 years from now. All right, now just some real practical tips for you on how to guard your heart, how to guard your mind against these lies, right? Well, one, you listen to this podcast, right? So you are already ahead of the game, okay? But two, I Want you to think about what you're thinking about. Think about what you're thinking about. Where. Where is your mind? What thoughts are going on in your mind? Right? Capture those birds. Shoo away those birds before. Before they build a nest in your hair. Okay? And then guard your heart. Proverbs 4. 23 says, Guard your heart above all else, for from it flows the source of your life. Right? Guard your heart. What's coming in your ears, what's coming in your eyes. What are you listening to? Who are you following? What are you reading? Guard your heart, guard your mind. Guard what comes in and out. Right? And Then also Philippians 2. 5 says, Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ. Right? Do you think Jesus was walking around thinking about what a bum he was? No, he's walking around thinking about and talking about how he is the Son of God and he only does what he hears what he sees His Father do. And he only says what he hears His Father say. Like, let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ. And then I'm going to leave you this here. Philippians, chapter four, verse eight. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatsoever things are pure and lovely and have a good report. If there be any virtue, if there be any praise, think on these things, y'all. We have to think about what we're thinking about. Yep. Maybe something went wrong. Maybe we didn't have the best launch. Maybe a customers screamed at us, you know, maybe our kids are dripping boogers all over the world. But what are we thinking about? Are we thinking about the promises of God? Are we staying in the Word? Do we have a scripture for this season that we are thinking about, talking about, have posted all over our house? What are you thinking about? All right, now, those three lies, kick them out, right? Combat it with scripture. Get the scripture coming in your ears, in your eyes, and out your mouth, and I promise you, you will see and feel a difference. Because the word of God does not fail. All right, now, real quick, before I pray this out, if you are sitting there like, man, I just need some business direction. I need to talk to a Christian business coach. I need somebody that is going to come alongside me and pray for my business and pray with me. Then book a business direction coaching call. I don't open up these just business direction coaching calls. I don't open them up very often. Normally I just offer SEO calls, but I opened up a few of these spots at a much lower rate than my normal, normal calls. Just to serve y'all, because I really believe in the, in the value of having another Christian come alongside you and speak life and the word into your business. So I'm gonna pray y'all out and then we'll come back and chat next week. Well, Lord, I just thank you for the opportunity to speak into the lives of these entrepreneurs, whether they are like 10 years deep in business or just wanting to get started in a business. Lord, you have put that desire to serve people in the marketplace on their heart. And Father, I thank you for that desire. And Lord, I ask that you would help them to guard their heart and be good soil, Lord, that they would be open to your teaching, Father, that you would help them to guard their heart against the lies of the enemy, against, you know, information overload and just the opinions of man. But Father, I thank you that you would help them to just steep themselves, to steep their hearts, steep the soil of their heart in the word of God. Lord, I ask that you would surround them with like minded Christians who are going to speak truth into their life. Lord, I ask that you would help them to be good friends to other Christians, that they would pour into them, pour into other business owners, Lord, and just start seeing this gift of business as just that, a gift from you to be nurtured and developed. Father, I ask that you would give them a spirit of boldness, that they wouldn't play small with the gift that you've given them, Lord, but they would see it as a gift and they would run with it, run with it for the glory of God. And Lord, I ask that you would, Lord, give them your wisdom, give them your revelation. Father, I just plead the blood of Jesus over them, over their mind, over their hearts, over their business. And Lord, I ask that you would help them to get in the Word, give them a desire, a hunger for the things of God and to dig into your word to know you more and make you known in the marketplace, in their business and in their family and friends. Lord, we love you. We love you, God, and we want to honor you. We want to serve you. We want to bless you as your kids, as kingdom ambassadors for you. And we thank you for the opportunity. We thank you so much for your son. In Jesus mighty name we pray. Amen. Amen. Thank you so much for listening in today. Episode Summary: Ep 216// 3 Ugly Lies Keeping You Stuck as a Christian Entrepreneur
In Episode 216 of Simple SEO & Marketing, Faith Hanan delves deep into the challenges that Christian entrepreneurs face, particularly focusing on the deceptive lies that hinder their growth and fulfillment of God-given callings. With a blend of practical marketing strategies and spiritual encouragement, Faith offers listeners both actionable advice and profound insights rooted in scripture.
Faith opens the episode with a passionate declaration of intent: to "kick the devil in the teeth" by addressing the lies that prevent Christian entrepreneurs from fully embracing their roles in the marketplace and the kingdom of God. She underscores the importance of discerning truth from deception by urging listeners to filter all thoughts through the Word of God.
Notable Quote:
"We have to filter it through the word of God. What does the word say about this piece of information, about this idea?"
— Faith Hanan [02:45]
Faith addresses the common struggle of feeling inadequate or undervalued, especially when constantly comparing oneself to others through the lens of social media. She emphasizes that every individual's gift is essential to the collective body of Christ, drawing parallels to 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, which illustrates the importance of each part of the body in functioning harmoniously.
Notable Quote:
"Stop buying the lie that your gift isn't needed, that your gift isn't valuable. Kick the devil in the teeth with this scripture every time he comes at you with that lie."
— Faith Hanan [15:30]
The perception that the market is saturated can discourage entrepreneurs from pursuing their unique offerings. Faith counters this by highlighting the uniqueness each individual brings, much like harmonious singers complement each other despite similar talents. She shares a personal anecdote about business coaches to illustrate that even within similar circles, there is room for diverse contributions.
Notable Quote:
"We serve a creative God. He created a monkey with a rainbow-colored butt and makes every snowflake unique."
— Faith Hanan [25:10]
Faith discusses the overwhelming feeling of not having all the answers or resources necessary for success. She reassures listeners with Philippians 2:13, reminding them that God provides the desire and power to do what pleases Him. Faith encourages entrepreneurs to trust God with the journey, taking one obedient step at a time, and assures them that growth happens "in the going."
Notable Quote:
"Philippians 2:13 says, for God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him."
— Faith Hanan [35:20]
Faith intertwines her discussion with relevant scriptures to reinforce her points. She highlights the importance of guarding one's heart and mind against deceptive thoughts, referencing Proverbs 4:23 and Philippians 4:8 to advocate for a mindset focused on truth, purity, and what is noble.
Notable Quote:
"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ."
— Faith Hanan [40:15] (Referencing Philippians 2:5)
To equip listeners with tools to combat these lies, Faith offers practical advice:
Thought Awareness: Continuously monitor and evaluate your thoughts to ensure they align with God's truth.
Guarding the Heart: Be selective about the information and influences you allow into your life.
Scriptural Meditation: Regularly meditate on scriptures that reinforce your value and purpose.
Faithful Obedience: Focus on being obedient in the present, trusting that God will provide the necessary resources and steps for future growth.
Notable Quote:
"Think about what you're thinking about. What are we thinking about? Are we thinking about the promises of God?"
— Faith Hanan [45:50]
Faith concludes the episode with a heartfelt prayer, asking God to bless and guide the entrepreneurs listening. She emphasizes the importance of community and offers opportunities for listeners to engage further through coaching calls and her Facebook community. Faith encourages sharing the episode and leaving reviews to help inspire more Christian entrepreneurs.
Notable Quote:
"We serve a creative God. He created a monkey with a rainbow-colored butt and makes every snowflake unique."
— Faith Hanan [55:00]
Value of Individual Gifts: Every Christian entrepreneur possesses unique gifts that are vital to the collective mission of the body of Christ.
Creativity and Uniqueness: In a saturated market, God's creativity ensures that each individual offers something distinct and valuable.
Divine Provision for Success: Trusting in God's provision and being obedient in the present lays the foundation for future success and growth.
Guarding Against Deception: Vigilance in protecting one's thoughts and heart is essential to maintaining alignment with God's truth.
Faith Hanan's Episode 216 serves as both a spiritual exhortation and a practical guide for Christian entrepreneurs striving to overcome internal and external challenges. By addressing the lies that undermine their confidence and purpose, Faith empowers listeners to embrace their God-given callings with renewed vigor and clarity.
