Does homeschooling your ADHD child sometimes feel like trying to herd cats? You start the day with a plan, but one child needs to move, another child forgets what you just said, someone needs a snack, someone cannot find a pencil, and suddenly nobody seems to be doing the thing they were supposed to be doing. In this episode, I’m talking about what to do when your ADHD child cannot seem to stay on task. Instead of treating every distraction like a homeschool disaster, we’ll look at a simpler way to help your child return to learning with less shame and less pressure. This episode is for the homeschool mom who feels worn out from redirecting, reminding, repeating herself, and wondering why her child cannot “just finish the lesson.” You’ll hear a calmer way to think about short lessons, movement, and small wins — especially for children who struggle with attention, task initiation, working memory, or staying seated for long stretches of time. Your homeschool does not have to look like a quiet classroom to be faithful and fruitful. Have you ever ended a homeschool day and thought, “Did we even do school today?” Maybe the math lesson took three times longer than it should have. Maybe the reading lesson turned into tears. Maybe chores dragged on forever, sibling conflict showed up again, and most of your energy went toward correction, attitude work, and constant redirection. In this episode, I’m talking about the homeschool days that feel wasted on paper — especially the days after co-op, appointments, errands, playdates, travel, or other high-output days. I share how I began noticing the “kickback” that often came after a full day out of the house, and why those recovery days may be revealing more than you think. If you are a Christian homeschool mom who feels discouraged when the lesson plan falls apart, this episode will help you see the hard days with more peace, more wisdom, and less panic. Because sometimes the day that looks wasted is actually the day where some of the deepest learning is happening. Have you ever heard your kids start fighting in the other room and felt your whole body tense up before you even knew what happened? In this episode, I’m sharing a calm sibling conflict plan for Christian moms who want peace in the home but often feel pulled into the chaos too quickly. I talk about what it looks like in our own neurodivergent family, with ADHD, autism, auditory processing challenges, different sound thresholds, and my own adult-diagnosed ADHD in the mix. Sometimes the goal is not to force everyone through a fast apology. Sometimes the wiser move is to stop and separate, calm and listen, and repair later when hearts and brains are ready. If you have ever stepped into a sibling fight too hot, talked too long, corrected before you understood the whole story, or tried to rush reconciliation because you just wanted the arguing to stop, this episode will give you a simple, faith-filled way forward. This week’s reminder: sometimes we have to slow down to speed up. Do you ever feel like your time with God does not look the way it used to before motherhood? In this episode, I’m talking about the quiet guilt many Christian moms carry when prayer, Bible reading, and closeness with Jesus feel more interrupted, more woven into daily life, and less like the long quiet stretches they once imagined. I’m sharing a devotional reading from Jesus Calling that brought me a lot of peace in this season, and I want to help you see that scripture still matters deeply, prayer still matters deeply, and your walk with God still matters deeply, even when this season looks different than the one before it. I’m talking about prayer while washing dishes, worship in the car, scripture carried through the day, and letting our children hear real faith in real life. This is not about lowering the importance of time with the Lord. It is about letting go of false guilt and learning to walk closely with Jesus in the life you are actually living right now. Scripture referenced: 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Proverbs 3:6, Deuteronomy 6 XOXO, Katie 💛 Episodes You’ll Also Love 💛 Episodes You’ll Also Love If this episode met you in a tender place, these are a few more faith-filled listens to carry with you this week: 🎧 #254 — Can’t Find Rest? 6 Bible Verses to Calm Your Overwhelmed Mom Heart 🎧 #334 — I Can’t Live in Endurance Mode Forever… 🎧 #327 — I Want to Be Present… A 2-Minute Habit to Feel Grounded 🎧 #323 — God Is Still in Control (Even in the Hospital Hallway)💛 Support the Podcast If this podcast encourages you and you'd like to help keep it going, you can support the show here: ☕ Buy Me a Coffee Your support helps cover hosting, equipment, and the time it takes to create these episodes for Christian homeschool moms each week. If you’ve ever felt like being “just a mom” isn’t enough, this episode is for you. So many moms quietly carry the weight of wondering whether what they do all day really matters. In a world that celebrates visible success, motherhood can feel small, repetitive, and easy to overlook—even when you know deep down that it matters. In this episode, I’m talking about the quiet pressure many mothers feel to prove their worth, and why that pressure can leave even faithful, loving moms questioning whether their role is enough. We’ll gently come back to the truth about presence, the hidden value of motherhood, and the deeper place our identity is meant to rest. If you’ve ever wrestled with feeling unseen, unimportant, or like you should be doing more, I hope this conversation helps you exhale and remember that your life is not too small. Your presence matters more than this culture wants you to believe, and your worth was never meant to come from what you produce. It comes from being known and loved by God. Have you ever had one of those days where everything feels like it’s falling apart… and no matter how hard you try, you just can’t keep up? In this episode, I’m sharing a real story from a week where I was already stretched thin, preparing for a last-minute visit, managing a full schedule, and trying to hold everything together, when God gently interrupted my plans in a way I didn’t expect. What started as a simple errand turned into something much deeper. And it reminded me of a truth I’ve had to learn over and over again in motherhood: not every interruption is something to resist. Sometimes, it’s something to receive. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, behind, or frustrated because your days aren’t going according to plan, this episode will help you shift your perspective, release the pressure, and find peace right in the middle of the unexpected. Here at Simplifying Mom Life, my goal is always to help you simplify your routines and strengthen your heart as a Christian homeschool mom—and this episode is going to meet you right in the middle of real life. Do you ever look up at the clock and realize it’s late afternoon… and you still have no idea what dinner is going to be? For many homeschool moms, the daily question of “What’s for dinner?” can feel like one more decision on an already full day. Traditional meal planning systems often add pressure instead of peace. In this episode of Simplifying Mom Life, I’m sharing the simple approach that has helped me feed a large family without the stress of assigning meals to every single day of the week. Instead of planning daily meals, I keep a flexible meal list and a few simple backups in the freezer. This small shift has made dinner decisions easier, calmer, and much more realistic for busy homeschool days. I’ll also share a little about the Special Needs Moms Keepsake Planner I created, where I personally use this same approach each week with space for meal ideas, grocery lists, and flexible planning that actually works in real life. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by meal planning or tired of trying to stick to a rigid dinner schedule, this episode will give you a gentle alternative that might bring more peace to your evenings. Have you ever wondered if your homeschool is actually working? Maybe you see other families moving faster, covering more subjects, or checking off more boxes… and it leaves you quietly wondering if your child is falling behind. In this episode, I’m sharing a powerful shift that helped me stop measuring my homeschool against someone else’s timeline — and start recognizing the kind of growth that actually matters. We’ll talk about why comparison can quietly erode confidence, why every child’s learning journey unfolds differently, and how curiosity, resilience, and a love of learning are often the truest signs that education is working. And if you’re raising a child with learning differences or special needs, we’ll also talk about the unique courage it takes to trust a slower, more individualized path. We’ll anchor the conversation in Psalm 127 and return to a truth every homeschool mom needs to hear: You are not the sole architect of your child’s future. God is faithful in the outcome. If you feel like your homeschool only works when you’re sitting right beside your child every minute, this episode is for you. In this episode, I share how medical appointments and special needs forced me to rethink my role in our homeschool — and how that shift helped us raise more independent learners without falling behind. I walk you through five practical ways to reduce constant parent involvement, including building rhythm instead of rigidity, leaning into your child’s natural interests, using narration instead of endless worksheets, and protecting core skills while letting curiosity lead. If you’re exhausted being the engine of everything, I hope this episode gives you permission to build a homeschool that feels alive — not heavy. Quick favor: If you’d like to potentially have me create an episode for you, I created a short questionnaire to help guide future episodes. As a thank you, anyone who fills it out will be entered into a drawing for a copy of my Movie Schooling book at the end of the semester.
