Thanks to Quince for all their support. Hi. After a long day of work or a long day of school or, you know, a long day of action and adventure, bedtime is kind of sacred. And I didn't realize how much my own bed mattered until I tried Quint's sheets. I thought my old sheets were fine. Turns out they were just fine. But my new Quince sheets were noticeably softer the second I climbed in. Quince has got European linen that gets better with every wash, organic cotton that feels hotel level, comfy and breathable bamboo that actually stays cool. Quince also uses ethical, responsible manufacturing, which I really appreciate. Whether you're laying in bed all night long or just for six minutes, you might as well make it nicer, right? Turn up the luxury when you turn in with quince. Go to quince.comsixminutes for free shipping on your order and 365 day returns. Now available in Canada too. Let's be completely honest. Are you happy with your job? The fact is, a huge number of people can't say yes to that. Too many of us are stuck in a job we've outgrown or one we never really wanted in the first place. But we stick it out and we give reasons. Like what if the next move is worse? And I've put years into this place and maybe the most common one. Isn't everyone miserable at work? But there's a difference between reasons for staying and excuses for not leaving. It's time to get unstuck. It's time for Strawberry Me. They match you with a certified career coach who helps you get from where you are to where you want to be, either at your existing job or by helping you find a new one. Your coach helps clarify your goals, creates a plan and keeps you accountable along the way. Go to Strawberry Me Career and get 50% off your first coaching session. That's Strawberry Me Career.
Katie
There are kids in this world who are different, special.
Monica's Mom
One of them found us and became family.
Monica
But her time ran out up.
Holiday
And now that girl is missing.
Progressive Insurance Announcer
Hello?
Jude
Is anyone here? Rinny okay, children, not your first time as a stranger in a strange land. Now let's get our bearings here, shall we? We are on a beach quite tropical. Am I back in Neverland? But this looks quite different. Wilder, More primitive. Camilla? You wouldn't happen to be here, would you? Is anyone here? Ah, my foot. What on earth did I trip over? What is that? Wires? Let's dig you out and see what we've got. Okay, spin it around. It can't be. Oh, arbiters of fate. You have indeed rewarded me again. Not only will you help me track down my dear Brinley, but I'm going to have so much fun doing it.
Monica
Hey guys.
Katie
Everything okay? Monica?
Monica
Yep. My mom and I just needed to talk.
Monica's Mom
Holiday, Monica asked if you could sleep over at our house tonight.
Holiday
A sleepover?
Monica
I think it would be fun to hang out, talk some more.
Holiday
Um, sure. Sounds cool.
Monica's Mom
And I just have a few questions first.
Holiday
Yes, gr.
Monica's Mom
Mrs. Purcell, I don't think I've met your parents, have I?
Holiday
Mmm, hard to say.
Monica
Even harder to explain.
Monica's Mom
I'm sorry?
Monica
River and Sam. Holiday's parents are named river and Samantha.
Monica's Mom
Your father is named river, like the actor River Phoenix?
Holiday
It's more of a nickname.
Monica's Mom
Uh huh. I'm sorry ladies, but I don't think this is a good night for a sleepover.
Monica
Mom?
Monica's Mom
Well, it's Halloween and I have to help your sister go through her candy. And plus I have to work early tomorrow. Holiday, why don't you have your parents call me and we'll set something up. Oh, but mom, it's time to leave now. Monica. Let's find your little sister and head home.
Katie
Does she have to go? I mean, we came to the carnival together.
Narrator/Storyteller
James.
Katie
Just saying.
Monica
I'll call you, okay?
Katie
Yeah, okay.
Monica's Mom
Goodbye.
Holiday
It was really nice meeting.
Progressive Insurance Announcer
Oh,
Holiday
I don't feel.
Narrator/Storyteller
Oh.
Monica's Mom
Holiday, is something wrong?
Monica
Is this one of those six minute reboots I heard about?
Narrator/Storyteller
What?
Holiday
It feels different. I just need to lean on you a sec.
Podcast Host
Katie, I've got you.
Monica
What's going on?
Holiday
No wireless signals in 1989. No way to nectar recharge.
Monica
Holiday?
Monica's Mom
Holiday, can you hear me?
Katie
Monica?
Monica
I got it. Her pulse is strong, respiration normal. It's like she's just asleep. Holiday, wake up. Holiday.
Monica's Mom
I think we need to get her to the first aid tent.
Katie
Here, Katie, help me lift her into the chair. We can push her.
Monica's Mom
No, no, no. It's okay. Monica and I can handle this.
Monica
But I know the people who run the carnival.
Monica's Mom
Yeah, and I'm sure they prefer you keep working Madam Fortuna. Come on. We'll be fine. You got her? Monica?
Monica
Yeah, Mom. Let's go. Okay.
Progressive Insurance Announcer
Come here.
Katie
Come on. Katie, we can't just let them.
Monica
Katie, what happened in here? Mr. Horner, I can explain.
Jude
My tent is destroyed.
Monica
I don't know how this happened, but I know this.
Jude
It's coming out of your pay.
Monica
But that's gonna be a whole week's salary.
Jude
Try two.
Monica
Never getting out of here.
Katie
That's your boss?
Monica
Was my boss.
Katie
Anyway, he didn't fire you.
Monica
He's also not gonna pay me. Madame Fortuna has seen the future. And without that money, I'll never be able to find my parents.
Katie
Your parents? Is that why you're working here? Are they missing or something?
Monica
Long story. Don't worry about it.
Katie
Okay. Cuz I was thinking, if you need more money, I can help you.
Podcast Host
How?
Katie
Well, I've seen how you run your operation. You're. You're pretty good. But what you need is a partner. You know, someone to bring in customers, help you with the grift.
Monica
Grift?
Katie
I can talk anyone into anything. Plus, I. I know a lot about electronics. Maybe I can elevate your special effects.
Monica
And what do you get out of it?
Katie
50%?
Monica
No way.
Katie
25.
Monica
What do you even need the cash for?
Katie
I need to fix my bike. Plus, I want to take Monica out for a nice dinner.
Monica
I don't think she cares about that.
Katie
Well, I care. And the truth is, it's not really about money for me. I want to know what's going on.
Monica
Going on with what?
Katie
Everything. Who is Holiday? What do you know about my future with Monica?
Monica
Okay. If you help me save up some cash, I'll give you some answers.
Katie
Then we've got a deal. Partners.
Narrator/Storyteller
Partners.
Monica
And you can start by helping me fix my tent.
Holiday
Where am I?
Monica
You're awake. You're in my house, on my couch.
Holiday
Okay. And who are you?
Monica
I'm Laura. I'm 11. Monica's my sister.
Holiday
Aunt Laura.
Monica
My mom brought you home after you fainted at the carnival. It's only, like, three blocks from our house. You keep blacking out. What's wrong with you anyway?
Holiday
Never change. Aunt Laura.
Monica
What?
Narrator/Storyteller
What?
Monica
I couldn't understand what you said.
Holiday
I didn't say anything.
Monica
Do you need help?
Monica's Mom
No.
Holiday
I can sit up.
Monica
Ugh.
Holiday
I think my mom said if you
Monica
black out again, you're going to the hospital. Should I tell her to call an ambulance? Once an ambulance came when I fell out of the big oak tree in the backyard, and Monica was riding along with EMTs. Cool, huh? Don't worry, I didn't even break a bone. But I did hit my head. Monica says it explains a lot. Anyway, the paramedic who treated me looked exactly like a grown up Corninghame. And I, like, for real, almost fainted. Maybe that's why you keep fainting. Did you see a hunk at the carnival?
Holiday
No hunk, no hospital. I'll be fine. You wouldn't happen to have a computer, would you?
Monica
We have that on the desk.
Podcast Host
Whoa.
Holiday
That is super chunky.
Podcast Host
Let me have a look.
Holiday
I think this is a word processor. Whatever it is, it doesn't have Internet.
Monica
Internet?
Holiday
Never mind.
Monica
Why do you look so sad?
Holiday
Long story short, Laura, I'm stuck offline in every way.
Monica
Mom, we need a different pillow. This one has Laura's drool stains on it. Even with a clean pillow case, we can't ask Holiday to sleep on that.
Monica's Mom
It's very generous of you to let her stay in your bedroom.
Monica
It's fine. I just. I want her to be comfortable.
Monica's Mom
Monica, what is it you aren't telling me about your friend Holiday, Huh? Is she even your friend? Because you don't seem to know much about her and she got awfully squirrely when I asked about her parents.
Monica
Okay, the truth is, I don't know much about her. She sort of appeared in that tent. But she's lost and I want to help her.
Monica's Mom
I had a feeling. Listen, I know how much you love a good mystery, especially a medical one. Every other girl your age has Teen Beat magazines and a picture of the new kids on the block. But your bookshelf is filled with Scientific American magazines and photos of Jonas Salk and Marie Curie and J.P. whittier.
Monica
Scientists are my heroes, mom.
Monica's Mom
And I love that. But sweetie, Holiday isn't our mystery to solve. I think we need to call the police.
Monica
No, mom, please, just let me talk to her first.
Monica's Mom
I raised a big hearted daughter. I shouldn't be surprised. She likes to bring in strays.
Monica
Thanks for understanding. Holiday. You woke up? We were just talking. Let me guess, Laura was doing what? Of the talking?
Holiday
It was a good conversation.
Monica's Mom
How on earth do I help this girl? Oh, Monica, how many times do I have to tell you not to leave your magazines on the floor? J.P. whittier and his. No, wait, it can't be. She looks like.
Monica
Operator? How may I direct your call?
Monica's Mom
Operator, can you please connect me to Whittier Corp. In Juno, Alaska? One moment, please.
Narrator/Storyteller
Thank you for calling Whittier.
Monica's Mom
Yes, hello. I need to speak with JP Whittier. It's urgent. No, you. You have to put me through. No, tell him it's about his daughter. Adelaide.
Jude
Blasted sand. Where's the rest of you? If this washed up on the beach after the blast, the remains of this mess can't be too far. Where's Ivan when you need him?
Progressive Insurance Announcer
Hold on.
Jude
What's that? Yes, that should at least help with the charging. Surely I can figure this out. After all, I created this work of art in the first place. Or will one day. Maybe, if I just connect these wires here. Can't forget the hidden solar charging panel. Yes, I think this should provide just enough power to turn it on. Things are about to get very interesting. Never expected to be holding a head in my hands, but. Can you hear me? Hello? Do you understand me? Maybe if I hold the head closer to the sun for charging purposes. Alas, poor robot.
Katie
I knew him well.
Jude
Yes. Yes, it's working. Your eyes are opening. Hello? Can you hear me?
Katie
Jude?
Jude
Welcome back to the world, Adam.
