Hey, everybody, it's Joe Artist Horn. I'm back here in the staff dining room at Whispering Ponies Ranch, just outside of where all the kids are having dinner. And I have a very, very special person that I want to introduce you to. Her name is Valerie, and she is evidence of what I say every year where this program has been around long enough that we're now seeing some of the kids that came here as campers themselves, coming back as junior staff, junior counselors, and then eventually, like Samantha, or surrogates and ambassadors for the program that exists here at Whispering Ponies Ranch, as well as our good partnerships with ministries like Royal family kids and forthechildren.org hello, Valerie.
B
Hello.
A
Now, I was privileged earlier today to get to meet Valerie and to talk for just a little bit right after the zipline, but you all have not had that same privilege. So, Valerie, very quickly, why don't you tell people what your first year was like here? Now, you came as a camper.
B
I did come as a camper. I came in 2017. So it was at the previous location. And I feel like the memories that have stick with me the most was at meal times and also the pool. And I remember the royal ball the most from the previous location. And then from this location is where I have my best memories. And I remember, like, many aspects of it. I remember eating together, swimming together. I remember doing the ponies together. And just like the scenery here is so nice.
A
Would you say that the Royal Family kids program at the previous location, before you got to Whispering Ponies Ranch, and then also here, would you say that this ministry has helped embolden your walk with Jesus, that this was maybe one of the places where you began to know him?
B
Yes, I would say so. I had grown up in church, but didn't really mean anything because it was a family thing and I was there to be there. But then after I'd gone to camp, I had realized that there was a deeper reason why. And then that's when I decided to dedicate my life and I had gotten baptized.
A
That's amazing. What's your favorite part? Now that you're like an involved staff member, you're actually on the other side of things now working with these kids. You've spent a whole week with these kids. Many of them are troubled. They are shut down emotionally. Some of them have been rescued out of forced prostitution. Some of these kids. What's that?
B
Some of them are on medication.
A
Some of the kids are on medications. Now that you're on the other side of the fence, kind of helping with some of these younger kids. What has been your favorite part of this week?
B
I feel like one of my favorite things is seeing myself in them and knowing that they also have the same potential. Because there's a few people, I have looked at them and I'm like, I definitely have seen myself in their shoes. And just knowing that they have the capability of doing it too, that's amazing.
A
Well, friends, we're gonna. We're gonna cut this off here because I know Valerie's gotta get going. Debbie Moses is probably out there looking. She's the coordinator. Valerie, thank you for just taking a couple of minutes to come talk to the audience that makes this possible. The people watching this video, many of them have sown prayers into this ministry. This they've supported financially. If you want to get involved, if you want to stand in the gap for a child that is hurting, you can see the evidence of what Jesus Christ is doing for these kids. He's changing lives. I've told you for years now we're seeing kids age up out of the program and become staff members, volunteers. It. It is making the world of difference for some of these kids. Go to skywatch tv.com you can learn more about Whispering Ponies Ranch and what you all are allowing to happen through your charitable giving and also your prayers. What God is allowing to happen right here at Whispering Ponies Ranch. We'll keep posting all summer. Valerie, so glad you're here.
B
So proud. Wouldn't spend my week anywhere else.
A
