I jokingly started calling him "Spider Boy," and I had no idea that nickname would stick with him.Fast forward to this year's camp...The moment I saw him again, I realized he hadn't forgotten. In fact, he had carried that nickname with him all year long! When it came time for him to conquer the rock wall once again, I asked him, "When you get to the top, do you want everyone cheering for Shane... or do you want everyone cheering for Spider Boy?"Without hesitation, he smiled and chose "Spider Boy."Sometimes the smallest moments become the biggest victories.For children who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, or rejection, simply being seen... remembered... and celebrated can mean more than words can express.
