I mean when I say Vintage Skywatch, what we're going to be talking about again this week, the Fallen Realm giants, the Nephilim. We talked last week briefly about how this is the kind of content you would have heard people like Derek and Sharon maybe a decade, 15 years ago, Dr. Michael Heiser, my father, the late, great Thomas Horne, authoring, putting DVDs out, documentaries. But Micah has done the unthinkable. He has brought brand new revelation to these conversations and I think the Skywatch fans are gonna hit fever pitch. Interest in both the book and the DVDs. Let me bring this up on the screen and read to you the title and the subtitle. His new book, Angels War of the Princes. And of course, here in just a few minutes, we're gonna be talking about both of your companion documentary dvd'. These are absolutely amazing. We're going to be bringing up B roll of some of the beautiful imagery that you create when trying to depict your perception of what these entities, fallen angels, angelic beings, look like. There's really nothing like the way that Micah Van Hus produces visuals, is there, Micah? Let's hit the ground running. Let's dive right back in where we stopped last week. Does the Bible actually talk about giants in hell or is that something people misunderstand? And this is huge for the church today.

So there are a number of scriptural references to the mighty, the Rephaim, the giants in hell. So let's start by noting that there are a number of different terms for giants in scripture. We have the nephilim in Genesis 6, the gibborim, gibboriim means mighty. But a lot of times in Scripture, gibboim gibor is used to reference the giants. We also have the races, the anakim, rephaim, imam, zamzumimites, different things. And so there are a number of terms for giants. So we do find the giants in hell. Isaiah 14:9 says that Sheol stirreth up the dead. And the word there in the original is Rephaim. We also have Ezekiel, chapter 32, verses 21 through 27. The Gibborim speak out of Sheol. And in the King James, the giborish. But actually in the Septuagint, one of the scriptures from which Jesus read actually translates that as giants of old. So we're not just talking about mighty men, we're talking about the giants in Noah's day. In Ezekiel 32, Isaiah chapter 26 says that the rephaim will not rise, the deceased will not rise, but the original word is rephaim. So this all leads somewhere. We're not going to get to it at the moment, but we will get to it in this episode of why these giants are in hell. They have their weapons with them. But yes, scripture does talk about these

giants that are in hell in the Old Testament. Who is the angel of the Lord? And is that just a reference to an angel, or is that something more or different from what people think it means?

It's something more. My interpretation and my studies. The angel of the Lord is actually the preincarnate Jesus Christ. We see the angel of the Lord all throughout the Old Testament. Not to be confused with an angel of the Lord, but there are a number of instances where Jesus Christ appears in the Old Testament. Zechariah 1:8. As we talked about last week, the angel of the Lord is standing in the myrtle trees and the angels are going to and fro throughout the earth, just like Satan did in Job chapter two. And they're reporting to the angel of the Lord the state of the earth. And they say, behold, all the earth is at peace and is at rest. This is a role of the watchers to report, just like in Job chapter two, whether it is Satan or a watcher reporting on rich people say, hey, Job loves his riches more than he loves you after walking to and fro through the earth. Another term for Jesus in the Old Testament is My name. If God says, my name is doing this, my name shall. That is almost always a reference to Jesus Christ as well. Who was it that led the children of Israel out of Egypt. My name, Jesus Christ led the children of Israel out of Egypt. The pillar of smoke by day, fire by night. Also in the burning bush we do have the Father because Moses couldn't look on his face and live. But we also have the angel of the Lord in the burning bush in the. And when the 70 elders of Israel go up on top of Mount Sinai and have a feast with the divine council, it is the angel of the Lord that is there with them. So yes, in my opinion, the vast majority of times when we see the angel of the Lord in the Old Testament, it's the pre incarnate Jesus Christ.

So much of what you are talking about and what you're writing about, Derek and I write about Dr. Thomas Horne, he wrote about that, Mike Heiser. But so many churches don't teach this. Why do you think that is?

Micah Van Hus
It's a difficult topic. And you know, pastors again have a flock and that flock is physical. They gossip among each other. And so I'm not going to fault pastors for not wanting to talk about these angelic things. You know, that's between them and the Lord and their congregation. I tell folks that I like to talk about the weird stuff, but I do it from a biblical foundation and filter everything you hear, whether it's from me, from Derek, from Joe, from Donna. If you listen to anybody, filter what you hear through your knowledge of the word of God.

Even what I'm saying, because we are all human. But God's word is truth and it's definitely something fascinating to study.

Well, the Bible says study to show yourself approved. It doesn't say, just kind of skim read. And when you study scripture you start to have your eyes just kind of open up to a lot of things and you start to hear people drop the weird stuff and suddenly you're like, wait a minute, hold on, what if that is true? And I myself, you know, being daughter of Tom, I kind of grew up hearing about a lot of this. Not just thought, oh, this is what people, you know, they believe and they accept this or whatever the weird stuff, I have to say this to you and for you and for anybody that is out there listening, there is a generation coming that is going to be a little bit messy. They're going to be a part of this next great awakening, one of the final harvest generations that are coming and this is going to explode on the scene. They are going to need answers for the strange stuff. Now what do I mean by the strange stuff? We have every kind of unbelievably strange philosophy and religion being dropped on YouTube where everybody now, thanks to the YouTube generation, can bring their theology air quotes to the forefront and say, well, because this verse means this, this means this. And I will say, if you're wondering how do you start, where do you start in figuring out how to parse all of this? I'll say this, what you're talking about the angelic realm, the fallen angelic realm, the difference between a fallen angel and a demon, which so many people think is the same thing. All of these things. That's not just Micah Van Hus theology. That is original theology. We are going back to the original. This is the worldview of the Jews at the time of Christ.

This is the apostolic worldview. Where did it go? Why do we believe what we believe now? It's a very long, complicated history. But Plato happened, then Augustine happened, and we started to de supernaturalize the Bible. You are bringing that back. This is not new theology. This is restored theology. So thank you for tackling the weird stuff.

And if I can jump in on that, our friend Doug Van Doren has a recent book out that tackles this, the Battle for the Bible's Truth, where he documents how rabbis in the second century began to change the interpretation of Genesis 6 away from the supernatural view, which ironically then became adopted by Augustine in the early 5th century. So this was the rabbis wanting to de supernaturalize the Bible to take away evidence Christians were using for Jesus as the second power in heaven, the angel of Yahweh. But lest you think Micah was exaggerating here and putting a new interpretation on it, because I wrote about this in the second coming of Saturn, which is why I was so excited, he's bringing up Ezekiel 32, the mighty chiefs referenced in verse 21. That's how it's rendered in the ESV. The Nophilim Gibborim in the Masoretic Hebrew text was, which is the text that was produced around the year 900 A.D. there's some evidence that that word Nephilim may be mispointed. The vowel mis pointed. It was actually the Nephilim Gibborim, the mighty Nephilim, the mighty giants. Because that's the way it's rendered in the Septuagint. The Jewish scholars who translated the Bible from their Hebrew texts 200 years before the birth of Jesus understood that those who who were slain by the sword in the midst of Sheol were giants. Likewise, in Isaiah 14:9, which you brought up, the Rephaim, the giants rise up to greet thee, and there are other places in scripture where that same translation takes place. The Jewish religious scholars, before the birth of Jesus understood rephaim equals giants. And now in our Bibles, it's usually translated as the dead, the shades, the departed. We don't get it. But Donna, you're absolutely right. We are not. Micah is not trying to come up with a weird new way to read the Bible just to make it more exciting or sell books or DVDs. It's going back to the biblical theology as understood by the apostles.

I don't want to spend the whole rest of the episode defending the giant worldview. So let's take just a minute or two to talk about the Genesis 6. And the main contrary view is that these sons of God in Genesis 6 are the sons of Seth. They're humans. But that view fails to take into account a lot of things. First of all, it doesn't explain why they have giant offspring in the exact same verse Genesis 6. 4. It doesn't explain why God would send a flood to wipe out the entire earth if good godly men are having children. It also doesn't explain the six, seven or eight verses throughout the rest of Scripture, Old Testament and New, about the angels that are chained up in Tartarus that sinned in the days of Noah. This kind of stuff is what brought me back to christ. I was 20 some years old. My brother showed me Genesis chapter 6. I'd always been taught that Noah was chosen to survive the flood because he was righteous. But Genesis 6 says he was perfect in his generations. Five verses after it talked about the sons of God having giant children with human women. Noah's bloodline was not tainted. Yes, he was righteous, but this is what opened my eyes to start all this.

It's not an opportunity that you're going to want to miss. And before we get back into this, Micah, I just want to do something. I did this last week where I actually picked up one of your DVDs and I read an excerpt from the back of it. Let's just bring this up on the screen. I want to read this. This is directly from the back War of the Princes, Jesus and the Bulls of Bashan. It says, from the Tower of Babel to the giants of ancient legend, this film uncovers how fallen angels influenced the nations and how mythologies across the world may preserve echoes of that forgotten history. At the center of it stands Jesus Christ, the promised prince who came not only to save humanity, but to reclaim the nations, defeat the powers of darkness and reverse the ancient curses placed on mankind. And I gotta tell you, right out of the DVD War of the Princes, and it sets me up for my next question, because this is something I think that the church, especially in 2026, is confused about. You say in your writing and in your DVD productions that Jesus came to Earth for three main reasons. What are they and why are they so vital for people to understand?

Micah Van Hus
The three reasons that Jesus came is to reverse three the curse of death. The serpent in the garden caused that through Adam's actions. The curse of the watchers in Genesis chapter six before the flood of Noah and the curse of Babel, which leads into the curse of languages and the curse of the princes. I understood this from the late Dr. Michael Heiser's reversing hormone, an excellent work. Obviously, Jesus came to reverse the curse of death through dying on the cross, defeating in Genesis 3, you know, I will crush his head. He will bruise my heel. The prophecy of the coming Messiah But. But not only did Jesus do that, he also came to reverse the curse of the Watchers. And the Watchers are not only what we've been talking about with the angels that rebelled, came down and taught humankind all kinds of forbidden knowledge. That's non canonical. It's not scriptural, unless you count Revelation 21:17, where the man is using the cubit. It says the measurement of a man, that is of the angel. I think that's the only instance in Scripture where we see the knowledge of the angels taught or kind of insinuated. Also Genesis 4 with the sons of Lamech and their knowledge of metallurgy and different things. Anyway, so not only do you have to reverse what the Watchers did on coming down on Mount Hormon, you have to defeat their offspring. And so Donna had said earlier that angels and demons are not the same thing. And that is correct. Now we have to go to non canonical sources. I don't take non canonical sources as inspired, but I do believe they are correct history. They say when the giants started to die, there was no place for their spirits in heaven, no place for their spirit. So they were destined to wander the earth and oppress mankind, causing wars, causing all kinds of just evil against mankind. And non canonical writings say that's what demons are. They're the spirits of the giants. That also makes demons the children of Shimyaza, the leader of the Watchers. So Jesus has to reverse that curse. And indeed, who is the first person to cast out demons when we get to Scripture, it's Jesus. The synagogue in Capernaum is the first time. And so Jesus comes to reverse that curse. He also comes to reverse the curse of Babel.

It's interesting to me that the Greek poet Hesiod, who wrote a lot about what we know as we call Greek mythology, kind of confirms this because in his writings he wrote that the spirits of the demigods who lived during the days when Kronos ruled in heaven, Kronos, who would be Shemyaza, when their spirits left their bodies, they became daemons, and they're kindly and helpful to humans. The Greeks had a different opinion of demons. But interestingly to me, the that word, demons is where we get the word demons, which is the word that the Holy Spirit inspired the apostles to use for evil spirits cast out by Jesus. I mean, there are words in Hebrew that could have been transliterated into Greek, like Serim, shedim. It's like, no, no, use this Greek word here, which is what the Greeks think they're kindly Helpful demigod spirits like Hercules. See, I think it's an interesting confirmation. Again, not from scripture, but the pagans knew where they came from. They just had a different idea of what they were.

I do believe that the 66 books are the inspired word of God. We go to the non canonical. I do believe that this is correct history, what you're talking about, because Scripture corroborates the idea that the demons are causing trouble among humans. Matthew. They talk about a woman who is deformed, crippled because of demons. They talk about a boy who throws himself into fires because of demons. We see them warring against mankind and causing consternation. So let's reiterate the fact that angels and demons are two different entities. Yes, Satan is a fallen angel. Demons are the, in my opinion, the spirits of the giants, their offspring. So it would be their children, half human, half angel. And so the third reason that Jesus came to the earth was to reverse the curse of Babel. And with Babel, we have two different ailments as a result. We have languages. God separates the world into 70 nations, and instantaneously they're speaking 70 different languages. And what does Jesus do? How many disciples did Jesus send into the world? 70. Yeah, and in a separate instance, when the disciples speak, they speak with tongues of fire. And everyone hears them in their own language, regardless of what's coming out of their mouth. That is the first reversal of Babel, the language. But also to reverse Babel, as we talked about last week, God places fallen angels in charge of the other nations. That's not Israel. And he curses them, God judges them. But he doesn't do it without a promise that he's going to reverse that curse. Psalm 82, 8. God will bring all nations back to himself. And what do we see through Jesus Christ? He inherits the kingdoms of this world. According to Revelation, chapter one. I believe, in fact, when Satan takes Jesus on top of the temple, what does he say? In a moment of time outside of our physical timeline, he shows him the kingdoms of the world and says, all these will be yours if you but bow to me. It was a promise of the fulfillment of Jesus Christ's prophecy that he would inherit the kingdoms without the pain of the cross. And Jesus did not bow to Satan because he knew what he had to go through with the crucifixion. And he wanted to do it on the Father's terms. So Jesus does inherit the nations. He does so through the cross. He defeats the princes of the powers of the air. In fact, Colossians 2, 15 says that Jesus spoiled principalities and powers. He defeats these princes of the nations. There's a lot more to say, but again, I could go on forever, but that is the reversal of the curse of Babel.

In Revelation 9, Apollyon comes out of the abyss with this strange locust army. What's that about?

Micah Van Hus
So we started talking at the beginning of the episode about the giants in hell. And so the giants in hell have their weapons of war. And so what does that mean? And again, I will say that more than half of what I'm about to say comes from my study of Derek Gilbert's the Second Coming of Saturn. And so I appreciate Derek and jump in whenever you want to. So we have the giants in hell according to Scripture, and we get to a fascinating thing, a fascinating story when it comes to these giants. Again, we go outside of Scripture to a non canonical source called the Ugaritic Rephaim Texts. The Ugaritic Rephaim texts talk about the Rephaim giants who will travel to a great feast of the gods. This is in the spiritual realm, a feast of the gods. And they will ride chariots and horses to get there. When they get there, they will eat birds, rams, calves, lambs. And it's a fascinating story about a feast hosted in honor of the Rephaim giants. Well, why is a non canonical Source Important? Because 600 years after those texts, Ezekiel records the exact same feast in Ezekiel 39, right? It says, gather yourselves to the banquet of the great God. The birds will eat the flesh of the mighty of the chariots and horses. So in Scripture, it's not the giants that will be honored at the feast. The giants are going to be the feast in scripture. But there's more. Ezekiel is not recording history. Ezekiel is recording a prophecy. Because in Revelation 19, we have an angel standing in the sun and he says, fowls, birds, gather yourself to the supper of the great God. Eat the flesh of the mighty. And so what we're seeing, this is the battle of Armageddon that Ezekiel was talking about. The Ugaritic texts were talking about from a pagan viewpoint, that the Nephilim will win. And so now let's back up a little bit. The giants that are in hell, these are demons. And I speculate that demons do have the ability to come back and forth from Sheol to the earth. Just like Samuel is summoned up during the witch of endor encounter in 1st Samuel 28, I believe. So we do. See, humans are able to be summoned up. God says not to do it, but the demons as well, in Revelation 9, one again, thank you, Derek. Apollyon comes out of the pit, and long story short, Shimyaza chained up in Tartarus, but the locusts that come out with him are the demons. And Revelation later talks about a 200 million man army that will take part in the Battle of Armageddon. Well, take part before Armageddon. And I speculate that. And I think, Derek, I think we're on the same page. We agree that these giants in hell are the demons that possess 200 million men. So Ezekiel says that the birds will eat the flesh of mighty men. Birds eat giants. The birds will eat horses. Sure. The birds will eat the chariots. How do birds eat chariots of iron and wood and steel? Well, the chariots are a metaphor. The chariots in Ezekiel and in Revelation are us, the human host that the 200 million demons possess to take part in the Battle of armageddon.

Ezekiel 39, 11, which God tells the prophet is the conclusion of the war of Gog. And Magog says that the war will end in the valley of the Travelers, east of the sea, and it will block the travelers. And travelers is a term used in those Rephaim texts from Ugarit to describe the Rephaim because they travel or cross over from the spirit realm to the land of the living. So, yeah, the Battle of Armageddon will literally be the ultimate zombie apocalypse as the spirits of the dead inhale, inhabit the living to come to war against Israel.

And that is right. And we got to give some props to the late Dr. Michael Heiser, because he. I don't know if you were on a phone call with him one day.

He said, no, I was driving. I was listening to his podcast. I almost ran off the road.

And he said something about travelers being an entity. And I think he even mentioned it

was in the D.C. it's in the dictionary of deities and demons in the Bible. So this is scholarly consensus that word Travelers in Ezekiel 39 refers to entities, not people on vacation.

And we can't leave this conversation about the giants, the demons at Armageddon without raising an interesting question. Why did Shimyaza come? In Genesis chapter six, women were beautiful. And that's kind of the main theory. And we get into one Corinthians talks about women covering their head. I'm not giving a message, I'm just saying one Corinthians talks about women covering their head because the angels are looking at them. Which harkens back to angels liking the looks of women. Well, there could be Another reason. What if Shimyaza actually came to breed an End Times army? The demons, they breed all the Nephilim, they die, their spirits are in hell and come back out at Armageddon. What if that's what Shemyaza was trying to do all along?

And continues it when they come out and they actually hitch ride with human cars.

Yeah.

And again, going back to the Septuagint, this is clearly the understanding of Jewish religious scholars before the birth of Jesus. Ezekiel 39, 18. You shall eat the flesh of giants, verse 20. And you shall be satisfied at my table by horse and rider and giant. So it's clear they understood that it was not just mighty warriors. We're talking about. We're talking about the spirits of the giants destroyed in the flood of Noah.

Because understanding what the divine Council is, understanding these angelic princes of the nations, it magnifies who Jesus Christ is. Jesus Christ is the ultimate victor over all of these entities. Satan is a prince of this world. Jesus is the prince of princes. So it magnifies who Christ is. And again, I love to study the weird stuff. I think God has called me to study the weird stuff. He prepares us in our earlier life for the things he has for us. And you don't know it when you're younger, you don't realize what God's trying to do in your life. And maybe get into the artwork and the video games I played, watching Lord of the Rings, reading Lord of the Rings, different things that just gave me my style of what I like to depict. But God prepares us, what he calls us for. And I love stating the weird stuff. But nothing is more important than what Jesus Christ did for humankind on the cross. So we can study this weird stuff all day, but don't lose sight of the fact that Jesus died on the cross for the sins of every single human that will freely come to Him. He's standing at the door and knocking.

You mentioned Lord of the Rings. And one of the reasons Sharon and I both appreciate your work so much, both artistically, your research, the way you approach it, in trying to present this in a way that makes the Bible exciting, I think too many of us were raised thinking the Bible was dull and boring. The Bible is the Lord of Rings on steroids. Because it's true.

It is true.

We are in the middle of a war of cosmic significance, of cosmic scope. And most of us have just been, oh, okay. This is how I'd be a better dad. Fine. You could get that from Dr. Phil. I'm sorry, but this, this especially teach your kids, your grandkids. We are in the middle of a war of angels and demons and wizards and the one true God.

I think of the comments, I've got young kids. My oldest is nine. She'll be 10 this summer. And I think of the comments, they come home from school and say, my teacher talked about a Christian school.
