Summer gets busy fast. One minute you're easing into warmer weather, and the next you're juggling sports schedules, swim days, camping trips, road trips, late nights around the fire, and trying to keep the house from completely falling apart in the middle of all of it. And if you're a cat family too, there's still the everyday stuff waiting for you at home, including the litter box. That's why Whiskers Litter Robot is such a game changer. During busy seasons, it automatically cycles after every use, so you're not constantly scooping or dealing with litter cleanup every single day. It just handles the dirty work for you. And the Whisker app notifies you about your unit. Like when a clean cycle is complete, when drawer levels are getting full, or if the unit needs attention. You can always track things like your cat's weight and bathroom usage over time, which makes it easy to stay aware of changes without having to constantly check in. Honestly, during a packed summer, having one last daily chore to think about makes a huge difference. Maintain your cat's litter while focusing on your growing family. I love that. Welcome to the 1000hours Outside podcast. My name is Jeannie Ertz. I'm the founder of 1000 Hours Outside and I am so thrilled that three members of Do Perfect are here today. Tyler, Kobe, and Garrett. Welcome to the three of you.
Tyler Toney
What's up Jenny?
Garrett Hilbert
Thanks for having you here.
Coby Cotton
Golly, I gotta get some more energy
Garrett Hilbert
juice I needed today.
Jeannie Ertz
I love your podcast studio. I have to tell you a story. So we are huge fans. We've been fans for a very long time. You got us through Covid. Our kids started these trick shot videos called Lockdown Kids. I'm sure you hear that a lot, but our kids are huge fans. And I was coming down to Round Rock, Texas to speak in an event and it was like right around the time of kids birthdays and we're feeling, you know, as a parent, you're like, oh darn, we're not home. And so they're such fans. And we came like weird stalkers to Frisco and stood outside at like 8 in the morning and we got to meet the twins.
Garrett Hilbert
Let's go.
Jeannie Ertz
It was so cool.
Garrett Hilbert
I'm really glad it was me. I'm really glad it was me. That's exciting. I'm really excited to hear that.
Jeannie Ertz
And then Sparky came out. Everyone was so kind and said happy birthday and like, gave shirts.
Tyler Toney
Incredible. That's so good.
Garrett Hilbert
He's a good one. He's a real one, that Sparks.
Jeannie Ertz
We've been fans for such a long time. I'm like, we've got all the merchandise here. I'm like, I've got hoodies, I got wristbands, I got the books. So we're going to be talking about something incredibly cool. You have a middle grades novel coming out, which is fantastic. It's like reading is so important for kids. It helps to get their minds going and it has just completely vanished. You know, the kids are not reading hardly at all. And you even interviewed a Gen Z. He was like, haven't read anything since sixth grade. The last book I read was Hatchet, you know?
Tyler Toney
Sounds like Ty. Yeah, yeah, I heard that one.
Jeannie Ertz
Yeah, that was on your podcast, right? It was Jackson.
Tyler Toney
Yeah.
Jeannie Ertz
When you were learning all the gen. The Gen Z slang and he was like, Cindy. And you were like, it was something about, we're gonna steal Cindy. It was like a great episode. It was like one of the first couple. But anyway, no, no kids are reading hardly. And it really matters for their development. So can you tell us about this new book that you have coming out? It is a first. First of a series. It is a book series. This is Do Perfect Plus Panda. Operation Trick Shot.
Garrett Hilbert
What a tee up. I mean, unbelievable here. First of all, I want to say, big fans of the mission of what you guys are doing in a thousand hours. I just think spending a thousand hours outside together as a family is an incredible, incredible thing to shoot for. We've been talking about it a lot here.
Coby Cotton
I'm doing it right now.
Garrett Hilbert
Really?
Coby Cotton
Yeah.
Garrett Hilbert
Well, right now you're inside.
Coby Cotton
No, I meant like my family is doing thousand hours outside.
Garrett Hilbert
I just want you to know I think it's incredibly awesome. So. So thank you again for having us on. Yeah. Operation Trick Shot. We're super excited. This has been a dream of dude Perfects for a long time. We all have kids. Garrett's are actually the oldest. Your oldest, Garrett is 10, 11.
Coby Cotton
I'm out.
Garrett Hilbert
I have a newborn coming in June. So we're full edge of the spectrum here. But we have wanted to do a book series forever. And just like you talked about there, other than Ty, we grew up reading books like Boxcar Children, Hardy Boys. So many good series. When we were kids and we wanted to come out with something that families could trust everything that was in every one of those books and that the kids would just have an absolute blast reading. So this one is like sports meets Secret Agent Twist. And I think. I think families are going to really enjoy it.
Jeannie Ertz
Okay. Do you know? I read it. I got to read it. I got an advanced copy.
Tyler Toney
Did you really?
Jeannie Ertz
Yes.
Garrett Hilbert
What'd you think?
Jeannie Ertz
I loved it. It's a total page turner. There's so many, like, little plot twists. Like you're talking about how, you know, how does everybody get their nickname? And this is a story where the. This is you as eighth grader. So it covers some of the questions people might. Might have. Like, is it hard to come up with content? So that's one of the things that you talk about. Like there's a lot of pressure there to come up with the content. But then there's all this other stuff about feeling unseen. Like, these are great themes to talk about in your family. So in the book, Corey, you know, is a twin and he's like feeling a little unseen. There's like a moral dilemma. Do you do something bad if there's a good cause. And really the whole mission of the book is. Is to save play.
Coby Cotton
Yes.
Tyler Toney
I'm unfortunate summary, by the way.
Coby Cotton
I hasn't read it yet.
Tyler Toney
So you just spoiled it. Locked in. How does it end? How does it finish? Tell me the last page.
Jeannie Ertz
That's a fantastic book. I loved it.
Tyler Toney
Thank you very much.
Garrett Hilbert
I was just going to say Corey, my brother, he wrote a book early on in. Dude, perfect. So he's dialed in. He's been very involved. Garrett's wife.
Tyler Toney
Look, Jenny, Jenny, Jenny.
Garrett Hilbert
You're welcome. At our office or on our podcast anytime. You're deep, you're deep. I love this. So Corey's an author. Garrett wife wrote Good night, dude. Perfect. Tyler and I have written nothing.
Tyler Toney
I haven't either. No, no.
Garrett Hilbert
I guess technically Garrett has. I was just giving you credit by merit there, but it is. I. That was a great summary. And I. I read the book to my 4 year old and we had a blast reading it together. So I am really, really excited about it.
Podcast Host/Advertiser
Yeah.
Jeannie Ertz
And it's a series, so there's already another one in the works. Like when you. Here's how it ends, Tyler. It ends by teasing the next one.
Tyler Toney
There you go.
Garrett Hilbert
Well, goodness.
Tyler Toney
Great. I better get started. Is good.
Jeannie Ertz
The next one's called Match Day Mayhem. There is really a lot of research about kids in reading. I've interviewed a bunch of Guests over the past year where they talk about how the kids books. They have far vast superior vocabulary in them than everyday language. You know, your conversations that.
Podcast Host/Advertiser
That you have.
Jeannie Ertz
Here's one. Reading exposes children to more facts into a broader vocabulary than virtually any other activity. And people who read for pleasure enjoy cognitive benefits throughout lifetime. I mean, this is fantastic. I'm so excited. So I loved it. It's coming out. And by the time this show goes live, you will be able to get a copy of it. Can you talk about this newish? So it's. The podcast is newish since the fall. Yeah.
Tyler Toney
Yeah.
Jeannie Ertz
And so is this outdoor channel. Okay, let me read it. All right. This is what you say. Okay. We go outside so that you'll want to see Now.
Tyler Toney
Now you're talking in my lane. Okay. Which. That you said something there. That explains my limited vocabulary and my low cognitive power. Yeah. Because I didn't do a lot of reading.
Coby Cotton
The last book you read was the Hatch.
Tyler Toney
However, I was outdoors a lot, and that lends us to DP Outdoors, baby. And yes, this is something that we've talked about for a very, very long time. Obviously do perfect. Main channel has been around, will be 17 years in April. And so for us to be able to launch something new like the outdoor channel was just a really cool opportunity for me personally to do something that I'm super passionate about, that I love. But also I think it provides just kind of another platform for people who kind of grew up with us in the beginning and are now dads or a little bit older and have kids of their own. And so it kind of brought back and like recaptured part of the dude perfect audience that has kind of grown up with us. And our whole goal through that, like the main channel and like everything else we do is to be able to not only bring families together, but also like you to get them outside and get them doing activities together. And so I was fortunate enough to grow up doing a bunch of that stuff outside of my dad. Those are my fondest memories that I have as a kid was just being in the outdoors, whether it was hunting, camping, or fishing, and just being outside with the people that you love. And so that's kind of the whole mission of the DP outdoor stuff. And we're having a blast doing it. And it's been. It's been awesome. We're four videos in now, and we have a ton of fun doing it, obviously. So it's been. It's been super, super exciting for me.
Jeannie Ertz
I got choked up at the end of the last one, you know, I think something about the videos that's really capturing and really about what all. All that you do, which is like having airsoft battles with your wives. Is this, like, real life living? And I had a podcast that just launched today. Today, actually, is our 750th episode.
Tyler Toney
Wow.
Jeannie Ertz
And I didn't do anything special. I woke up this morning and was like, I probably should have made a graphic. But I was like, oh, I'm talk, dude. Perfect, guys. But the guy that came on, his name's Dr. Arthur Brooks. And he talks about how we just don't, like, live anymore. We don't go do stuff. And I learned about this chemical. It's called vasopressin. And it's like how when you're on mission together, like in the children's book, they're on mission to save the gym, you know, for the local kids so they can play. When you're on mission together, you know, you're doing all this stuff.
Podcast Host/Advertiser
It, like, bonds you.
Jeannie Ertz
All the things that you've done together. Right. And all the things that you brought your wives in on. And if people copy that. So the latest outdoor video is catching these lobsters. And probably one of my favorite things I've ever seen, Tyler, is when you go, I got one, you know, and it's like, who as an adult gets to have feelings like that? And they come from God's creation.
Garrett Hilbert
Yeah.
Jeannie Ertz
Like, he still has hide and seek for adults.
Tyler Toney
Yeah. Yeah. That was. That was a very genuine moment for me because that was a struggle to get the very first one. And like you said, we were all trying to do it together, and there was a lot of that team element, but there is something special about whatever it is. But having that common goal, but doing it with people that you love, and then to be able to do it in a space like the outdoors, especially a place like that, where we were at doing the lobster diving, just makes it all that much more special. But, yeah, I couldn't. Couldn't agree more. Having that common goal, that common mission, and being able to enjoy it with others is what makes it so special for us.
Jeannie Ertz
Yeah, you wrapped it up and you said this is a shared mission of bringing families and friends outdoors together, but also a common mission of using this platform to glorify Christ together. And then he had a sunset raking. So I just. I love that. It's fantastic. It just reminds you there's so much to do out there. It's like, you're never going to age out there's. Always going to be something different.
Podcast Host/Advertiser
You can always adventure.
Jeannie Ertz
As your kids get older and older, there's more and more to do. I think for a long time I
Podcast Host/Advertiser
underestimated how much your outdoor space impacts your day to day life because ours just wasn't working. It felt unfinished. We had a couple mismatched chairs, no real place to sit comfortably, and I've always had this idea that I'd add lighting or make it feel cozy, but never actually got around to it. Then we started looking on Wayfair and it made the whole process feel doable. We found pieces that actually fit our style. Simple, functional, a little bit modern, but still warm. And suddenly the space came together. We added seating, a few subtle decor touches, and now it's a place we naturally end up at the end of the day. The best part is how easy Wayfair makes it to get there. You can narrow everything down so quickly, compare options, read thousands of reviews and feel confident in what you're choosing. And delivery was seamless, which matters when you're trying to upgrade a space without adding more stress.
Jeannie Ertz
It finally feels like a space we

Jeannie Ertz
let's talk about another one. So I learned about this thing, it's called the inner ring. C S Lewis talked about it and it was like how you kind of like always want to rub shoulders, like with a little bit more famous people and a little bit more famous people. And he basically was saying, like, as you go in on the rings, you're never actually going to get there. There's always going to be like another person. But I kind of feel like maybe you've hit the inner circle. Like, I was curious if there's anyone that you're like, oh, we wish we could meet them, but we haven't yet. So you did this battle against the Savannah Bananas, which you can't even get tickets to their stuff. So, Garrett, I learned in that video that you are left footed. Is that right?
Coby Cotton
Yeah, left footed.
Jeannie Ertz
Left footed. So can you talk about, like, are there still people that you're like, oh, you know, I wish we could meet them. Or have you kind of, like, hit the pinnacle.
Garrett Hilbert
It was a big one. Checking your years off the list today.
Tyler Toney
Yeah.
Garrett Hilbert
Or to that.
Coby Cotton
You know, we've got to. We're super blessed and, you know, we've got to meet, like, just growing up as, like, sports fans and. And things like that. It's like, man, like, I just. Even getting to go to events was, like, crazy, big deal. Bucket list. And then getting to, like, film videos and bring them in, and, you know, we were just. The. The World Baseball Classic was just on, and we had Bobby Witt Jr. Who's, you know, he's just kind of a kid still, which is so crazy. But he was sitting right where Ty is, and we got to interview him, and it's just. It's so cool to be able to, like, just talk to these people that we look up to, even if they're younger than us, because they've accomplished so many things in their life. And. Yeah, we're just super blessed. Like, I don't think we've met everyone we've ever wanted to meet. Like, I definitely.
Tyler Toney
Yeah. Jackie Chan is still out there. Yeah.
Coby Cotton
You want to meet Jackie Chan?
Tyler Toney
Yeah.
Coby Cotton
You want to film a Shanghai Noon kind of fight scene?
Tyler Toney
I want the. The. Whatever the third one's called. Yeah. Triquille. To Shanghai Noon. But it's been cool.
Garrett Hilbert
Yeah.
Coby Cotton
Like, the inner circle has. I. I guess that is a fascinating. I've never heard it that. That way.
Garrett Hilbert
Smart guy.
Tyler Toney
Yeah, he is. He's probably right.
Garrett Hilbert
He's really on to some stuff. I was just gonna say there's a. There's a mentor that. I was talking to them recently, and they were just encouraging us, like, exactly what you just said. They were like, hey, I know y' all continue to have these opportunities. They're gonna have even more of them as the podcast comes out. I would just encourage you guys, and we've taken this to heart. Like, don't use these celebrities, like, love on them. Right. Because people. People are asking them for things and trying to use them every chance they get. And I was. That. That really hit home with me. And so I'm trying to remember that each time we have an opportunity to rub shoulders with. With somebody that I have personally put up on a pedestal and looked up to.
Jeannie Ertz
Yeah, I love it. What a story. Okay, so I've seen some of the early videos because we had friends that were huge fans, and, like, this was a long time ago. They showed us. So we watched some of the earlier ones that are, like, in the backyard. Can you talk about this is starting in 2007. Can you talk about, like, I can hardly even remember back then. Social media changed so fast. At what point were people realizing this could be a career not just for one person, but can support five people?
Tyler Toney
Certainly not us.
Coby Cotton
14.
Tyler Toney
Yeah, 2009 was our first year. YouTube came out in 2007. So we were two years into YouTube even being a thing. We put out the first video, really had no intention of creating a brand or a business of any kind. Just thought, hey, this would be a fun video put out. Let's see how many views we can get. Did it. Got a bunch of views and we thought, okay, that was it. That was, that was kind of cool. And then sooner or later we thought, okay, well, hey, what if we, you know, took this out somewhere else and went and did it at the ranch and did it somewhere else. And even when we had our first brand that paid us to do a video for them, we still looked at it as like, oh my gosh, well, I can't believe somebody paid us to do a video. And, you know, we finished, graduated college. These guys were a year older than me, so they went on and Garrett and Cody went and got other jobs. I graduated college and it was still just like a thing that we viewed as like, oh, this is a fun little, like, side gig that we can do and if somebody else pays us to make a video, great, but if not, like, we're still having fun doing it, so we'll keep making these videos. And we were kind of forced into it. Honestly, we were not convinced that it was going to be a full time job, but kind of got faced with a decision where we had to try it for about eight months and we all quit our other jobs and said, hey, let's give this a shot and see what happens for eight months and if not, we'll go back and get our jobs again and go somewhere else and try it. And I think it was really cool. In those first two months we were able to sign two big deals and it was just really reaffirming for us. Like, hey, God has a plan for this platform that is much bigger than any of us ever envisioned. And I think still, even at that point though, we looked at every deal that came in as like, okay, well, hey, we just bought another four months of timeline, or we bought another, you know, two months. Because we just signed this deal and it really took us a long time to start viewing this as something that we could really do long term and had had some, some real, like, brand equity that we could really turn into something special. And I think, you know, the first time that we went on tour, which was 2017, 2019, was when we went and actually saw our fans for the very first time in person. Because up until then, we'd done like a few meet and greets or you'd go to whatever, some kind of event where people would show up to. But before that, it was all comments and likes and hearts and digital. Like there was no actual human connection. And so to show up, I believe it was in San Diego, was our first tour stop. Yeah. And like, actually see, you know, 7,000 people show up and be there in person with you was like, holy cow. Like, I remember walking into the. To the arena and thinking, like, there's no way there's going to be this many people in here for the first time. And just seeing the stage and the huge LED screen and all that. And then sure enough, you know, that night, that whole stadium gets filled out and it was like, wow, this is real. Like, so I think when we finally went on tour, that was. That was kind of a moment for me where it was like, man, these. These are like real people that are out there watching. And there is. There's a real connection that we can have with them.
Podcast Host/Advertiser
What a story.
Jeannie Ertz
What a story. And from the outside looking in, it's like you just. I've seen all these huge steps, you know, where you're like, you build this gym, people are like, wait, what? What? There's like a basketball court in there. And I mean, you're just like, what in the world? You know, just huge steps. And I. I think it does. It showcases the hand of God in your lives. And it's really powerful, really powerful kids to watch. And then they copy in ways that are embod. They're going to try their own trick shots. The thing I like the least is the bottle flipping.
Tyler Toney
Yeah, same.
Garrett Hilbert
We've had to apologize to a lot of people for the bottle.
Tyler Toney
We didn't start that, by the way. We just didn't.
Garrett Hilbert
On the fire. The kid at the, the talent show started the bottle flipping craze, to my knowledge. Yeah, we accelerated it.
Tyler Toney
Correct.
Jeannie Ertz
So you say like before the tour, then you're just like, you know, all you're seeing are the comments. And I wanted to read. This was just like the comments that were right at the top of the lobster video that I watched. So this is you, like out. I mean, this is like surf. Garrett, you like. I mean, they're talking about safety and, you know, you got to be with Your partner and I kind of feel like Garrett, they were trying to get out of being your partner.
Garrett Hilbert
Oh, yeah.
Coby Cotton
I wouldn't blame him.
Tyler Toney
There was trying to get out of
Jeannie Ertz
being his own partner, but you had to free dive. I mean, this is advanced.
Tyler Toney
It is.
Jeannie Ertz
This is advanced stuff. And so the top comment was, I watched Dude Perfect for more than 10 years now, and I'm still surprised that Ty is just naturally good at everything. Greatest athlete of our generation.
Tyler Toney
Wow. Wow.
Garrett Hilbert
Those do get thrown around, and I
Tyler Toney
don't think they're way off.
Garrett Hilbert
You know, the guy's. The guy's good. He's. He's way above average at most things.
Tyler Toney
Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're pretty far off. They're. They're pretty far off.
Coby Cotton
Do you think you're that much better than what they're saying?
Garrett Hilbert
No, no.
Tyler Toney
I don't think I'm cracking the top thousand athlete, but it's a funny joke. I mean, I appreciate it.
Garrett Hilbert
It's nice.
Tyler Toney
It's got a little Chuck Norris vibe to it, which. Rest in peace. That was sad. But, yeah, no, it's. It's an honor, but not real in any way. So.
Jeannie Ertz
I love that one. The other comment that I saw that
Podcast Host/Advertiser
was right near the top said, I
Jeannie Ertz
love the outdoors because we get to see all the nature that God has
Podcast Host/Advertiser
created for us to see.
Jeannie Ertz
I can't wait for more outdoor videos. Do you find your kids are pretty athletic?
Tyler Toney
Yeah, they're still young. We split. We try not to put too much pressure on being a great athlete, but my. I have three boys. They do love going outside, and so I try and just do that as much as I can with them. Whether that's on a flag football field, whether they're the best one on the field or not, I really don't care. I tell them this all the time. I care about if they listen to their coach and if they hustle, and if they do those two things, then I'll be out there coaching them, supporting them, watching them for as long as they want to play.
Jeannie Ertz
I love that. I love it. Okay, so I. I was gonna bring in a special guest, which is my daughter. And here she comes. Here she comes. I've never done this. Actually, I have done it. I did it one time. Come on in. You want to say hello?
Tyler Toney
Hi.
Garrett Hilbert
Hi.
Tyler Toney
How's it going?
Podcast Host/Advertiser
Okay.
Jeannie Ertz
They said, how's it going? I'm gonna give her the headphones in just one second. But what I wanted to tell you is that, you know, I have noticed that for me, obviously, it's such Small potatoes. But what I have learned over becoming an entrepreneur is just that it really
Podcast Host/Advertiser
opens up doors for other people, for
Jeannie Ertz
family and for friends. And so a long, long time ago, like years ago, I had. We had on a kids author, Estee Smith, who writes this book called the Green Ember. And one of our kids and his friends got to come on.
Coby Cotton
Great book series.
Podcast Host/Advertiser
It's so good.
Coby Cotton
It is.
Jeannie Ertz
But besides that, none of the kids have come on. Nobody cares, so. But they all cared about you. And in fact, when we came to visit in Frisco, they learned that we've got some good news. Well, they made a song. It was your song, but they like recreated it and they sang it here in Michigan and they said, we will not bring our cows. And. And this is Winnie and she like played a little cowbell triangle and then we played it in front of the dude. Perfect offices. I mean, we were total weirdos, but they're huge fans and so I love the opportunity to kind of be able to share stuff with our kids. And so she has got the ending questions for you today. I'm going to give her the headphones.
Coby Cotton
I love it.
Tyler Toney
Let's go.
Jeannie Ertz
And she has something to show you as well.
Podcast Host/Advertiser
So are you ready?
Winnie (Guest Child)
Yeah.
Jeannie Ertz
Okay. You're gonna do this.
Podcast Host/Advertiser
Okay.
Garrett Hilbert
Hi, Winnie.
Winnie (Guest Child)
Hello.
Tyler Toney
How's it going doing this?
Garrett Hilbert
I bet it was a great song.
Tyler Toney
Okay.
Winnie (Guest Child)
It was okay.
Jeannie Ertz
What do you want to show them?
Winnie (Guest Child)
Well, I went to your hero tour last year and I still have my wristband, but is literally completely faded of words.
Garrett Hilbert
Wow.
Tyler Toney
That thing's gotten some use.
Garrett Hilbert
That's fantastic.
Winnie (Guest Child)
I've been literally wearing it every single day since.
Tyler Toney
That is awesome. Thank you for your support.
Winnie (Guest Child)
Thanks. I want to tell you some things I liked about the tour. One I actually. This doesn't have to do anything with the actual tour is that it was a surprise. Me and dad were scootering around in Grand Rapids and I see a tour bus with your logo on it. And dad goes, oh, yeah, I think they're tourists. And then I'm like, oh, can we check if there's still tickets available? And he said, well, we've already got tickets. They're in the front row.
Tyler Toney
That's awesome. What a well done Big dad move right there.
Garrett Hilbert
Well done. Also, I'm very pro scootering. That's a great town.
Tyler Toney
Twins love scootering around before a ticket
Garrett Hilbert
bump into you out on the streets.
Winnie (Guest Child)
Yeah. Some things that I really liked about the tour is that I like the outdoor games, which is where I got this.
Tyler Toney
There you Go. Yeah. The fan zone.
Winnie (Guest Child)
I liked it when you did wheel. Unfortunate.
Tyler Toney
Yeah. Would you have spun the wheel if we brought you up? Would you have done all the things on the wheel?
Winnie (Guest Child)
Yes.
Tyler Toney
Really? Wow. Okay. All right. Good to know. Taking a note.
Winnie (Guest Child)
And then I also like when you did all the competition games.
Tyler Toney
Yeah. Yep, yep. So this tour is going to be a lot more of the competition game. So we're doing. If you've seen the squad games videos that we've done, we did one with the Savannah Bananas. We're going to do the same thing kind of on tour this year, so we'll have a seven game series. We're going to have a bunch of different guests come on with us on tour this year, and it's going to be even bigger and better competitions than we've done before on tour. And we'll be taking up the whole floor this time, so it's going to be really fun.
Winnie (Guest Child)
Okay.
Jeannie Ertz
All right. Well, I know you're. We're low on time, so she has five questions to ask. And the first one was the squad tour kicks off on June 25th in Charleston, South Carolina. What do you want to tell kids and their parents about this tour? So I feel like you kind of already answered that one.
Tyler Toney
Yep.
Jeannie Ertz
So that's coming up in June. So you want to go on to question two.
Winnie (Guest Child)
Yeah.
Podcast Host/Advertiser
Okay.
Winnie (Guest Child)
My sister Brooklyn has a question she wants me to ask.
Tyler Toney
Perfect.
Winnie (Guest Child)
It's for Tyler.
Tyler Toney
All right, I'm ready. Let's hear Brooklyn's question.
Winnie (Guest Child)
Tyler, why are you not in the music industry?
Tyler Toney
Unfortunately, as much as I would love to be in the music industry, I just don't have the talent. If I. If I was the greatest athlete of all time, then maybe I would be talented enough to go make it in the music industry. I love music. I enjoy doing it. I am a slightly above average guitar player. I'm an average singer. And unfortunately, that doesn't get it cut in Nashville. So I would love to be, but couldn't quite hack it. Unfortunately, it does lead the band at
Garrett Hilbert
our annual Christmas parties.
Tyler Toney
That is true. And thank goodness the talent bar is pretty low at the Christmas party, but we have a lot of fun with it. Okay, that was a great question, Brooklyn. You can tell her.
Winnie (Guest Child)
All right. This question is from my other sister, Vivian. She wants to know why you believe in God.
Tyler Toney
Good question. I think, you know, for us growing up, we were all very fortunate to grow up in families that prioritize church and faith. And I think it's pretty cool that all of our parents kind of Put us in a position to receive that knowledge and just kind of be in and around church and around good people that could kind of pour into our lives. And so I know, you know, if you were to ask each and every guy the most important decision that we've ever made in our lives, that each of us individually would say it was the choice to follow Jesus and make that a conscious effort. And that is for sure. We believe the reason that dude perfect is still a thing 17 years later. I don't think without that faith and that common bond and just that view of this is a bigger platform than just the five of us. And there's a reason that we're still doing it at this point. And it's not just so the five of us can have financial success or meet really cool people or just have a fun job that we feel like we don't have to work at. We truly believe that God has given us this platform in order to impact people and impact families and give them an opportunity to flourish and come together. And so, yeah, I think that is for sure the most important thing about dude perfect.
Winnie (Guest Child)
All right, question four. Who did you pick to win March Madness?
Coby Cotton
Well, I picked Florida, unfortunately, and they're eliminated.
Tyler Toney
I did not pick anyone and didn't fill out a bracket.
Coby Cotton
Yeah, but he's a Michigan guy. And they're still in it.
Tyler Toney
They are still in it.
Garrett Hilbert
Seven. A great year to pick Michigan.
Tyler Toney
Yeah. One seed, right? Yeah.
Jeannie Ertz
Yeah.
Tyler Toney
They look incredible.
Garrett Hilbert
I pick Duke. I pick him every year because the one year I didn't pick them, they won. No, I got to stay focused on that. I wouldn't say that it looks great, but I am dialed in. I love March math.
Winnie (Guest Child)
All right. My mom always ends this show with the same question. What's a favorite memory from your childhood that was outside?
Tyler Toney
I immediately.
Garrett Hilbert
It's simple, but I think some of the simple ones are the ones that you remember the most. I immediately think of playing home run derby with tennis balls in our driveway. And, I mean, we would play. My brother and I and friends from down the street, we would play for hours. And I know it's yalls one of yalls biggest things, but, like, we talk about all the time, like, kids have forgotten. Like, this generation doesn't even know what we experience. They're just playing outside for fun and getting off of the screen.
Coby Cotton
So that's something that I. Yeah, I would say we played a lot all the way through college and kind of like, kind of want to go back to it. Of rollerblade hockey outside on the street.
Tyler Toney
Yep.
Coby Cotton
A lot of time spent there with me and my brothers and our friends.
Tyler Toney
Yep. I would say for me, we had a family ranch that I grew up on. Fortunately, all my. All my family was pretty close by, and so every year around November, we would all go do kind of like a guy's weekend down there. And I remember being a 7 year old kid and getting the invite to be able to go for the first time and having both my grandpa's there, my uncles, my dad, and that was always a really special time for me that I looked forward to every year. So I'd say spending time out there at the family ranch.
Jeannie Ertz
Thank you so, so much. I know you gotta go. This has been like an honor of a lifetime. Huge congrats on the new book. People can check that out. I'll make sure. I'll put all the links in the show notes. Pound it now, Garcia.
Tyler Toney
Yeah. Thank you, guys. Thanks for having us, Winnie.
Garrett Hilbert
You're a natural.
Tyler Toney
Yeah. When's your podcast come out, Winnie?
Winnie (Guest Child)
I don't know.
Tyler Toney
You don't know? Okay. All right. You might want to start thinking about that.
Winnie (Guest Child)
Okay.
Tyler Toney
Thank y'.
Garrett Hilbert
All.
Tyler Toney
See you guys.
Coby Cotton
Bye.
