Ryan
Hi, everyone. Welcome back to another episode of the Blondest Podcast. Today, Savannah had a little emergency come up. She's still on her way, but we have our wonderful stand in Ryan here for just a quick episode. That way we don't waste our amazing podcast team's time. So.
Tyler
Hello, everybody. So good to see you all again. It's feel like it's been a little bit of time. Like, I haven't been here in, like, maybe a month and a half.
Ryan
I feel like it's been longer than that.
Tyler
Maybe longer. I missed you all dearly.
Ryan
But, yeah. So we actually have absolutely no plan for what we're going to talk about on this episode. So just bear with us. Hopefully you love us just enough to listen. And again, Savannah will be back next week. Promise. So a little update. We recently went to. Ryan and I have been fortunate enough to travel quite a bit this summer or this year. We went to Hawaii with his family. We went to St. Lucia with my family. And then his family has. It's almost like a family reunion.
Tyler
It's like. But every year, ever since I was like a child, we always went to North Carolina, specifically. Figure 8 Island. There was this house that we'd always go to, and it was so much fun. And it's like my. My dad's side of the family, his sister and her husband and their kids. My grandfather, my grandmother before she passed, and then my brother and I and any significant others. And my cousin's side, my dad's sister's children. They have each significant others. So there is four kids and then there are. They each have a significant other. So there is. It's a packed house, to say at least.
Ryan
So.
Tyler
But this year, we did not go to North Carolina, unfortunately. But we got to have a wonderful time. Cause we went to Lake of the Ozarks instead. And I was skeptical. I told Tyler I was skeptical because I love the beach a lot. But.
Ryan
Yeah. And I feel like if y' all know or watch or pay attention at all, you would know that I am very. I have become very accustomed to going to the beach because that is Savannah's favorite place in the entire world. And I've never. I mean, like, Savannah and I both grew up in a town that's right on a lake. So I had been to the lake growing up, but, like, I feel like when you're. When it's where you grow up, and it doesn't feel like, you know, you go onto the lake or you go sit by it with friends or whatever, but it's not like, staying at a lake house and, like, really doing the lake experience.
Tyler
There's something, like, so unique about a lake house. And I feel like I had done it when I was a kid, like, with friends that did have lake houses. But as an adult standpoint, I, like, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ryan
No, I was. We were both a little nervous. But I will say, first of all, I enjoyed how not absolutely, like, hot it was. You know what I mean? Like, I feel like anytime I'm at the beach, it's not even that. It's like, it's not 100 degrees like it is in Texas, but it's still, like, you're in, like, a UV 10 all day, every day. Even if it's 85, it's still, like, hot and it's sticky and there's sand, and there's just a lot of things that I don't love about the beach. I've always not been the biggest fan, but I've. It's grown on me over the years.
Tyler
He, like, doesn't like to get in the ocean. And that was, like, really hard for me at first because I am like a mermaid at heart. Me and Savannah, as you all know, very similar. Both love sharks, both love all sea things. And I'm. I'm like someone who will literally just lay in the water and let the waves just hit me. Like, I love being in the water. So, like, when we went to Hawaii for the first time, he's like, well, let's sit by the pool. And I was like, the pool? Do you want to sit by the pool? Like, the fun is at the beach. We got to go to the beach. And he was like, that's the sand. Like, something with you in sand. I feel like it's, like, consistency. It gets everywhere.
Ryan
I hate. Okay, so for my fellow baddies who wear tone smart, like, if there's ever, like, a brisk of wind and the sand hits you in the face, like, it's like in every single pore on your face. I just hate sand. And like, in St. Lucia, it was 10 times worse because we had, like, a villa that had an infinity edge private pool.
Tyler
Yeah.
Ryan
Steps away from the beach.
Tyler
That's crazy.
Ryan
And so we were duking it out because I was like, there is no reason for us to go to the beach. Like, the beach packed with people. Please, please.
Tyler
Like, the beach. Like, it was between the two, like, pitons in St. Lucia. And it's, like, the only resort to, like, be on. What natural space or whatever. What is it like?
Ryan
It's like protected land.
Tyler
Protected Land. That's what I was going for. But it is. It was so pretty and like, yes, you could still see it from like the villa, but like to be in the little beach chairs, like, it was just like, it was like giving like honeymoon and considering basically everyone that was there was on a honeymoon. And then we were like with his family and we were like, yeah, it's
Ryan
a very honeymoon resort, but I loved it. But long story short, I fell in love with a lake and I want a lake house. I want like a little surfing boat. So we were so fortunate enough. So Ryan, when he joined sba, we passed along. Passed the torch. It used to be me. Then I passed it to Maria and then Mar. Pass it to Ryan. Yeah, Our Color Science monthly partnership meetings
Tyler
are check ins, monthly partner tool.
Ryan
Yeah. So we just have like monthly business reviews with Color Science. And we have a team of three lovely women. Shout out to Ashley, Jamie and Brandy. But. So we're on this call and Brandy, or she asked what we have coming up this summer and we say we're going with his family to Lake of the Ozarks. And she lives in Lake of the Ozarks.
Tyler
So she was like, shut up. No way. Yeah, no way.
Ryan
And so
Tyler
there we go.
Ryan
Thank you. So when we were there, we met up with her. She has this like badass wakeboarding boat or whatever you call them. I'm not a boat expert, so don't ask me.
Tyler
But they use it for water surfing.
Ryan
Yeah, I think that. Is that the same thing as wakeboarding?
Tyler
No.
Ryan
What is wakeboarding?
Tyler
Wait, I don't think it is. I'm pretty sure it's not.
Ryan
Wakeboarding is like you're boarding on the wakes.
Tyler
Well, no, I swear. Maybe water surfing is different than. Let me look it up.
Ryan
I don't know. But regardless, it was Ryan and I's first. Was it your first time ever trying to do that?
Tyler
I feel like I've tried it when I was younger. I feel like wakeboarding you have to actually put your feet into something. See, your feet are locked in. Like, this is like water surfing.
Ryan
Same thing.
Tyler
It's very similar. But like this, I think it's almost easier for this because, like, your feet, see, they're like secured in there.
Ryan
It's like snowboarding.
Tyler
Yeah, it's like snowboarding where your feet are genuinely attached to it. But this is like you just have to use the momentum of your feet. And we struggled.
Ryan
Yeah, we struggled, but we both got the hang of it.
Tyler
We got the hang of it. I think I got the cousin of
Ryan
it better than you.
Tyler
My cousin Eliza, who we love and adore, who just recently got engaged. We're going to be going to a wedding in May.
Ryan
On the trip, she asked Ryan to be one of her bridesmaids.
Tyler
She did. And I cried. I was so happy.
Ryan
He was tremoring.
Tyler
I was tremoring.
Ryan
I was shaking.
Tyler
I was so excited. I had just got there. Cause we were a day late because when we got to the place, the power was out, unfortunately, so we had to stay in a hotel. But then the next morning, I got in there and we were sharing a room with her and her fiance. And it was on the bed. And I was like, ah, made me so happy. But they came with us with Brandy. Brandy was so nice to be like, do you have any family that wants to try it too? Or like, wants to come with us to lunch? And Eliza and Jack came and they were so good at it.
Ryan
They were like, natural. It pissed me off, honestly. And I loved you.
Tyler
I took us each like eight times.
Ryan
Liza and Jack, but don't be that good on the first try.
Tyler
It was. It was like, we weren't horrible, but like, for us it was like, you know, like eight to like 10 times. Like, Brandy was really walking us through, like the steps. And like, her husband was like, well, you know, like. And then with Liz and Jack, they were just up.
Ryan
Yeah, but now I want one. I want to. Like, there are a few lakes like an hour and a half outside of Dallas, so.
Tyler
And we, we told my. I told my mom and dad and we were talking to them too. We were like, we'll go in on a lake house with you guys. Like, please.
Ryan
Like, maybe it's in our 10 year plan for sure. But I.
Tyler
It's just there's something about a lake that, like, is so different than the beach. And I kind of think it's like when we first got there, we. Everyone was just like in the water on floaties. Like, they're like those little, like, things you put between your legs. And everyone was just sitting on the. In the water, floating, like, having a drink, having a cocktail. And it's like, you can't really do that at the beach, you know, like, the waves are so aggressive and.
Ryan
Yeah, I don't really want to be in lake water.
Tyler
But you got in. You did it.
Ryan
Yeah, but that was still a struggle for me. But like jet skiing and boating and stuff like that. I feel like getting in the water
Tyler
when Tyler was crazy on a jet ski. And he was an asshole on the jet ski too. I had been on A Jet Ski when I was younger. But, like, you know, I was a little nervous. We did our. We got our boating license in Missouri, so now we are certified boat drivers in Missouri. But, yeah, he took me on the Jet Ski. And since he's seasoned, because he's done it growing up, you know, being on a lake with friends who have Jet skis, he fully threw me off the Jet Ski while I was wearing this hat, which is quite a nice hat. And I was unfortunately very sad because I. Every single part of me got wet and, like, I fell in the water.
Ryan
Well, that was the point. It's just a hat. He was most concerned about the hat.
Tyler
It's just a mew. Mew hat. Literally, it is.
Ryan
It's just a hat.
Tyler
I was.
Ryan
Does it look fine?
Tyler
Yes. But we still need to get it clean. I don't even know why I'm wearing it. Like, I told myself, I was like, I'm gonna get this cleaned. And.
Ryan
Yeah, because it's not. It's fine.
Tyler
Lake water. See, he was just talking about lake water and how gross it is.
Ryan
You didn't have a problem getting in.
Tyler
I don't have a problem getting in. But, like, if I dropped, like, your. Like, let's say I dropped this shirt in the water, what would. What would you want to do with it? Would you want to clean it? Maybe? Is it. But yes, I was thrown in the water and he was crazy for that.
Ryan
What other updates do we have? Ryan is getting surgery on Wednesday.
Tyler
I'm getting my deviated septum fixed. I have a S shaped one. What did they say?
Ryan
S curve deviation. So it's like double deviated.
Tyler
So it's like when you, like, see my nose, like, this is messed up, and then it's like, normal, and then it's messed up here. So, like, I can't breathe on this side and I can't breathe on this side. And it's been that way, I think, since I was born. And I've always struggled with sleeping. And, like, Tyler knows I'm a heavy breather. Like, I don't snore necessarily, but I like. I like heavy breathe and sometimes mouth breathe, which is very unfortunate and not good for you. So I tried mouth taping once, and let's just say I woke up in quite the panic because I could not breathe at all. I was like a little bit of choking. So. Yeah. But I'm getting my surgery on Wednesday and I'm horrified. Terrified.
Ryan
The craziest part is, like, the first. I feel like the first time he went in and talked to them. They said, like, if you don't do cosmetic, like, the recovery's not as bad. Like, it's like, a few days. And then, like, the last time he went in, they were like, no, you're gonna be done for a week.
Tyler
They're like, be prepared to be home for a week. And I was like, you were like,
Ryan
I thought this was gonna be easy.
Tyler
And I also clarified, and I asked her, and I was like, wait. I thought the recovery was fast. And she's like, oh, it is. Like, if you did cosmetic, it'd be two weeks. And I was like, oh. Oh, wonderful. But, yes, I did not go cosmetic because it was $2,000, which is not expensive.
Ryan
This is like, our biggest. Okay, here's the thing is, if he's happy with his. And he. Like, if you love it, like, I love your nose. But the thing is, is, like, in my brain, I'm like, if my Surgeon told me $2,000, it's only $2,000. If you want me to tweak that nose, I'd be like, there's the money. Like, say less. But there is. I understand your point where, like, he went to, like, an ENT because of actually, an ear infection, and then it, like, led down this rabbit hole to getting his septum fixed.
Tyler
I've been in this process of wanting to get it fixed for the past two. Unfortunately. I, as you guys know, went to school for musical theater, and I always struggled with singing because my breathing did not work. Like, I went through every single thing throughout the four years, and I've always struggled with breathing. I've always struggled with breathing while I work out. I've always struggled with breathing while I'm running, when I'm doing anything at all. And I went to a doctor because I was like, I know there's something wrong with it, probably in 2025, like, February. And they were like, yes, you have a deviated septum. We recommend getting it fixed, but do, like, a month of nasal spra first so that insurance can approve it, because we can say we tried. There has to be a reason for you to get it. Did you do anything first to prevent it? And then it's like, yes, that didn't work. So surgery's the next option. But then they're like, okay, so you did the nasal sprays. Now we need you to get your blood work done and go get a C scan, CT scan. That's what it's called. The who? The whole thingy. Yeah. Well, unfortunately, the scheduling and insurance, they were not Doing well, whatever place I went to was just struggling to connect with my insurance, and I couldn't figure it out myself. And then I was trying to get the blood scan sent to, like, a. What's that place called where they do the blood labs that, like Quest. Quest? No, the one that we told Emily to go to.
Ryan
LabCorp.
Tyler
LabCorp. And they couldn't even get it sent there. And I was like, I don't know what I'm supposed to get, like, my blood tested for, like, to do this. And so I just kind of gave up. And I was like, you know what? It's fine. And then my dad was like, your insurance runs out when you turn 26 in October. And I was like, okay, this is your last chance. I was like, I gotta do it now. And so I'm getting it done.
Ryan
And I'm. What I was saying, though, was that, like, I. I understand because this. The doctor, he found, I'm sure, is a phenomenal surgeon and is going to do great at fixing his ability to be able to breathe. But she's not a renowned cosmetic surgeon.
Tyler
And, like, she is a cosmetic surgeon, but, like, for me, personally, I was kind of thinking about it the other day when I was talking to Tyler, and I was like, if I'm going to spend $2,000, which I know is not a lot for cosmetic surgery, it's like, literally. But, like, I feel like I'd want to see.
Ryan
Like, there are laser treatments that are more expensive.
Tyler
Like, I'd want to see, like, her before and afters, maybe just to, like, kind of see, like, what am I getting myself into? Like, is she able to kind of do what I'm looking for, or. And she said she was able to, but I was just like, you know, also, that recovery seems longer. I won't be able to work out for, like, up to a month. And I was like, I'm just. Let's just fix the breathing.
Ryan
Yeah, we have people we know. I mean, I didn't realize. And I'm really nervous, y'.
Tyler
All.
Ryan
Like, really nervous, because I love him to death. However, he gets a cold, and it's like he's been hit with the bubonic. Bubonic plague, or however you say it, like, what wiped out half of Europe?
Tyler
I'm really. And I'm like, I'm a baby. I'm a baby. I don't do well with pain. I don't do well with sickness. If I even feel like a headache, I'm like, I don't feel well. I don't Feel.
Ryan
Well, it's all he talks about. Like a headache. And he'll act like he's dying.
Tyler
And I think. But in my defense, in January. Actually, no, New Year's Eve. Get this New Year's Eve. I felt, Mm. Something doesn't feel right. I don't feel right. I don't. Something just feels off. And Tyler's like, you're fine, you're fine. You're fine. Like, you're probably just, like, thinking about it too much. It's okay. It's okay. We went New Year's Eve. Did not feel good at all. Did not feel good. Next day.
Ryan
What? Did I have the flu?
Tyler
Yes.
Ryan
Okay.
Tyler
So, like, my body was right there.
Ryan
But, like.
Tyler
But, like.
Ryan
But yes.
Tyler
I'm not saying.
Ryan
I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm saying, like, you're feeling a little icky. And then it's like you're acting like you already have the. Yeah, like stage five flu.
Tyler
Yeah. No, like, there was a pimple. This is so random. And, like, totally not important, but I had a pimple on my chest. And I was like, tyler, it's severe. And he was like.
Ryan
You were telling me it was a staph infection.
Tyler
I was like, it's staph. I know it is. It hurts. It feels swollen. And he was like, it's not staph. And I was like, But I propped it. And it hurts. Like, it doesn't. It's not going away. And he was like, it might just be, like, deep and, like, cystic. Like, it's not staph.
Ryan
It was both of those things.
Tyler
And I, for some reason, was like.
Ryan
And it went away. And.
Tyler
Well, it went away after I used 10% body acne.
Ryan
No.
Tyler
10% acne med. Face reality. We love you. And it went away by the next morning. And I was like, wow, you were right. Not so.
Ryan
Needless to say, I'm nervous. Pray for me more than him.
Tyler
And he won't even be there, though. Cause he unfortunately has to work. Well, you'll just, like, he has to be.
Ryan
I'm not gonna be home for an entire week. And I don't think you're gonna need, like, to be spoon fed fucking soup.
Tyler
I just think I'm going to be, like, miserable in my life.
Ryan
Well, you specifically may need to be spoon fed. Yes, but the average person would not need to be spoon fed.
Tyler
My grandmother, who we love, Annie, she asked us when we were at dinner recently. She was like, what kind of food can I bring you? And I was like, mashed Potatoes. She was like, that's all you want. And I was like, I want mashed potatoes. Like, specifically. If you guys have ever been to Babes or Bubba's, they have the best mashed potatoes. Well, actually, they have mashed potatoes at Babes, too. Yeah. What do they not have at Babes that I'm thinking of?
Ryan
Fries.
Tyler
Fries. Yeah.
Ryan
Well, they don't have the corn at Bubba's, right?
Tyler
They do, but it's rotational. Remember Annie was talking to us about that. It's like the sides change.
Ryan
But anytime we've been to Bubba's, they did not have the corn.
Tyler
They did not have the corn. Yes, but those mashed potatoes, I just remember having them after I had my wisdom teeth surgery. And granted, you're not supposed to eat hard foods, and that's why I ate it. But, like, anytime I think about surgery now, I'm like, I want mashed potatoes.
Ryan
Did you have mashed potatoes after your.
Tyler
Yeah, I had Bubbas, but I didn't. I mean, I had like, chicken tenders and mashed potatoes, but, like, this time I just want mashed potatoes. Like, I think I just want to have, like, a big bowl and just kind of just go at em. Go to town.
Ryan
Well.
Tyler
And I need things to watch. I have no idea what I'm gonna watch. No shows to watch. Like, I am a heavy binger. We both are. And I don't know what's good right now.
Ryan
So there will be something out in the next five days, I'm sure.
Tyler
Hopefully.
Ryan
What else did I have? I thought of something earlier, but now I'm completely forgetting.
Tyler
What updates do you have?
Ryan
I'm getting back into working out. We both are. Yes, I have done. I had gone 10 months without going to Barry's, which I used to love it. And so now I've done two classes in the past three days, and it's really fucking hard. I've never been a runner, and I think that's, like, for you people out there who are runners, I commend you so much. You as.
Tyler
Well, not as much anymore.
Ryan
It is like, I. I don't. It's like I don't understand the concept of a runner's high. I think anyone who says that runner's high exists is just deeply mentally ill. I don't mean that, but I kind of take.
Tyler
It's funny because, like, everyone in my life would always be like. To me, specifically, when I was running 13 miles a day, six miles a day, they'd be like, are you a masochist?
Ryan
No, that's that's exactly what I was just about to say. Like, I don't think it's a runner's
Tyler
high and like, I would do it in like 99 degrees and like have no issue with it. Like, I don't know what. It's just like there's a feeling you get while running. And like, for me it's even worse because like, I would listen to audiobooks and 99 degree heat while running. And Emily was like, I think, I think you have an issue. Like, I think something's wrong. And I was like, no, it's just like, it's freeing. It makes you feel so, like open and like alive.
Ryan
I want to love it. I'm going to try.
Tyler
It's one day I'll get you to run a mile outside with me.
Ryan
Maybe in late fall.
Tyler
Yeah.
Ryan
Not in the summer.
Tyler
Yeah, we can do that.
Ryan
Crazy. I can't even say the doors are locked at this building on Sundays. We're recording on Sunday. And standing outside for five minutes, I was like, I'm going to melt. So. But.
Tyler
So I was going to melt yesterday. Yesterday was Lauren's three year anniversary, so we are very excited in celebrating her. And I went to go get Andy's custard Forever the team. And it was so hot outside. Like, it was.
Ryan
Yeah, he brought. It was a five minute drive and he brought back just cups of soup.
Tyler
Like, literally they were all melted and they forgot Sierra's order. And I was like, this is not what we need. Like, and so I went back, got it. But when I brought it back, they were like, well, we have no more to go lids unfortunately, so we can give you this. And it was just the whole thing without a lid. So Tyler's entire cup holder completely covered in melted ice cream. And then when I was walking into the spa to bring it to Sierra, the entire floor dripping, dripping, dripping, dripping. And I was like, this is. But it was also just like so hot. Like, I felt hot. I was in a car. I felt hot. I was out of the car. I still felt hot. Like Texas right now. It's hard. It's not fun.
Ryan
Um, yeah, that was, that was my only updates. If you guys have any tips on how to like love running. I don't trust him, so.
Tyler
But he has a good working nose. So I'm like, I feel like he could get into it and I feel
Ryan
like that's like my never done it. So it's like I'm telling y'. All. I, I started actually on whatever day it was last week with I was gonna try to do the 12, 3, 30. And I, you would have thought that I had just done an iron man.
Tyler
He made it 15 minutes and he looked at me and he goes, he
Ryan
said it's like my gets like my heart rate legitimately gets up to like 180, 190, like zone 5 level heart rate. And but I feel like not, I
Tyler
feel like when I run, like that happens to me too. But like, I think no, because I
Ryan
was, I went to Barry's with Lauren on Thursday.
Tyler
Yeah.
Ryan
And mine was at 187 and she did her thing and it was at 162.
Tyler
And was she running like 15?
Ryan
Yeah, yeah, she was. She was.
Tyler
She's in good, she's in good shape. She's eating like she is. She is well, doing well herself.
Ryan
Yeah, I don't know. You.
