Hello, everyone, and welcome back to another episode of the Bondest podcast. Savannah did get an emergency call mid filming, and so luckily, I had my stand in here.
B
Hello, everybody. Good to see you all again. I missed the seat, and I'm happy to be back.
A
Yeah, hopefully y' all are not sick of us.
B
They would never be. You can't be sick of us.
A
This is. I told Ryan I saw the clips from the last time we filmed, and I was like, I am so sorry. I'm not sitting on that side of the seat. Like, I'm not sitting on that side again.
B
I begged. I really did. I begged. I was like, please, let me just sit over there.
A
Well, you guys know how I played viola? And so I developed an uneven jawline. So it's like I have scar tissue from where the instrument used to sit on my neck. And so I went to a plastic surgeon, and they. Cause I was like, okay, can I just get lipo? Cause I thought I just had uneven fat in my chin. And then he squeezed around, and he was like, that's not fat. If I do lipo, it's not gonna do what you need to do. They basically told me I would have to get a neck lift, so he would have to open me up, scrape it out, and then sew it back together.
B
But I feel like when you don't play, it gets better. Cause you hadn't played since December, and then you played last week, and you got a little red spot again there.
A
It's not about the spot. The spot doesn't bother me. It's about what's underneath.
B
It does not look bad right now. Okay, well, I promise you, you guys would never notice it.
A
You would. Absolutely not. Well, when I point it out to people, they're like, oh, like, it's not like a. No, you don't have that. They're like, oh, it's there. No back up. And so it's not bad. Yeah. So this side is not my good side. And I will be getting a neck lift from Dr. Eula in Austin, Texas. She is phenomenal. I just don't know when I'm gonna do it. Austin?
B
Oh, in Austin? You went all the way to Austin just for, like, a consultation?
A
No, no, no, no, no, no. A different plastic surgeon told me that. But I love her work.
B
How'd you find her?
A
She is a husband or a.
B
She's a husband.
A
Her husband works at Skin Better. I have seen her work, and I've talked to a lot of people, and they, like, she is.
B
She's. She's the one. This is not sponsored, but.
A
No, it is not. It is not. I check her out and, like, they were like. Like they were nice enough to, like, put me in a group text and, like, sent her pictures and stuff like that.
B
Yeah, it's so sweet.
A
So anyway, we're just gonna continue going through these Q and A's. Um, and my advice is basically the same as what Savannah's would be. I share her brain. Actually, I've adopted her brain.
B
You have adopted her. He has the Savannah boat of mind, actually. Kind of crazy. Like, they do think like this together.
A
Someone asked if they can book a virtual consultation even if they do not live in the country because of all the products that we recommend are not sold in their country. Absolutely. We will figure out a way to get those products.
B
Yeah, we shipped one of them to where I remember looking at it on Shopify recently. It was one that was like, yeah,
A
we do virtual consults for all around the world.
B
We just don't only ship to like 50 states and Canada.
A
Well, openly, openly on Shopify. If you don't live in the US I would email or call our office. It's just really complicated to set up the shipping and, like, all the regulations and all that stuff for all the countries. So we typically do those sort of orders internally. So if you ever think we don't, we do, just contact us directly and our girls will get you hooked up.
B
They're the best. We love them.
A
Pregnancy Safe routine. We actually just created two bundles on our website, but this is a good time to talk about this because our social media manager came to me and Ryan and was like, you know, everyone's asking me for pregnancy safe products, but isn't. She was like, I don't really know how to make a bundle for it. And so we did make one just. We did one for, you know, acne redness, and then we did one for aging, stuff like that. So we. We made two of them for skin concerns. But really as Savannah BO aesthetics, the only products that we carry that are not acne safe are going to be those with retinoids in it. So if you think Alpharet, any of the Alpharettes, Alpharette Body, imax, Alpharet Peel Pads, the retinol peptide serum from Face Reality. But outside of that, everything is basically pregnancy safe. So if you are seeing our recommendations and you want to use it and you're pregnant and you're worried about it, first of all, we always say we're not doctors. We're not here to guide, like, talk to your Physician.
B
Yeah, absolutely.
A
The baby is the most important thing at the end of the day. Savannah personally, she used Alpharet throughout her pregnancy with Sarah. She talked to her physician. You know, a lot of those clinical studies were done with isotretinoin or Accutane. So a topical retinoid is not the same as a vitamin A that's being ingested at the strength that isotretinoin is. So again, physician dependent, like, what is
B
the risk with the retinoid in a baby, like, from someone who does not really know, like, pregnancy wise, what would that cause?
A
Well, I mean, this is what Savannah always says, is that the amount of. Of vitamin A that's in, like, Alpharet or anything topically is not going to get absorbed to the bloodstream or get to the baby. And there is more vitamin A and prenatals that people take than an Alpharett or something.
B
But it's still listed as, like, not pregnancy safe, right?
A
Well, because no one's. I mean, no product anywhere is listed as pregnancy safe because that would require companies to test on pregnancy.
B
You have done, like, a whole clinical
A
study with pregnant women, and no one's gonna do that. Yeah, because, like, and it's also, like, a liability, like, if anything were to happen, any sort of deformity or anything like that, when a baby's born, no company wants to be on the receiving end of, like, oh, it was because I used this or whatever. So no one's gonna say that. And again, like I said at the earlier, we didn't say that.
B
But what about, like, tret knowing? Like, would that be something that's too strong, that could enter the bloodstream, or is that like a different level or.
A
Again, that. That's up for debate. Again, the clinical studies were done, and, like, the studies are done on Accutane, isotretinoin, and that does cause deformities.
B
Deformities, wow.
A
Yeah. And like, children. But it's also an incredibly strong pharmaceutical drug. Yeah. So that's my two cents.
B
Yeah. Check it out. We just made them recently.
A
Ryan made them.
B
I did. And there's also one for pregnancy Belly trio, so. Yep, that one, too.
A
Opinion on azelaic acid. Savannah is absolutely obsessed with azelaic acid. I mean, it is incredibly gentle. And so I think that's where it has such a unique and amazing space in exfoliating acids. Because so many people come to us with compromised barriers. They have sensitivities. They have, you know, severely dry skin, or they have eczema, or they have, you know, a number of things. And this is able to be used on basically every skin type without worsening it instead. It's going to correct it. I mean, Savannah had fungal acne on her forehead. She had, like, almost like sort of a severe case of fungal acne, and it completely helped clear her fungal acne up. So it's like, very gentle yet extremely effective. So we love her. And Andu from Anvisa is the one.
B
I feel like every single time I think of Andrew, I think of that AI reel that we did with her in the boots. Everyone was like, okay, why is she serving? She is. And like, I always think of that now.
A
Yeah.
B
Andre's that girl.
A
Yep. Jinx. Can you use mandelic serum with Andrew in the morning? Can you?
B
I feel like. I feel like. No, no, because it's too many.
A
That's a lot of actives you don't need.
B
It'd be too much.
A
I would do one or the other. Personally, I know I just sang praises for onto, but I am a Mandela girly.
B
We are Mandela girlies.
A
Yeah. I use 8% mandelic every morning. Um, but again, if you have more dry, sensitive skin, undo will be.
B
But I feel like you can also patch test it too, because, like, I personally, I've tried Ondo as well, and I feel like for me, it kind of made me a little irritated. But I also have super sensitive skin and I succeeded more with mandelic acid. Like, I had a really good experience with it.
A
Yeah.
B
Lauren wrote me a little regimen after 90 days.
A
I don't think Ondo made you more sensitive. I think your skin barrier was just stripped from using 17 million different products,
B
using many different things. But I've stayed consistent with Mandelic and I haven't had any issue with. And I have.
A
Yeah, you've also been being consistent with your skin.
B
So what does that mean?
A
Like, you're not using a million different products.
B
Tyler's banned me. Like, he's actually banned me at this point.
A
Well, yeah, because it'd be like every other week and he'd be putting on barrier care gel cream and being like, it burns.
B
And that was. That was three days ago. And there was nothing I did like my skin. I don't. I don't understand, but I will say I've gotten a lot better. But I also do feel like I'm being, like, watched by a hawk because, like, Tyler will be in the shower and I'll be like. And he's like, what was that? And he asked me every time. He's very. He's a Great coach.
A
Best treatments for rosacea. Honestly, my go to is going to say the glacial. I mean, they have studies and before and afters of reducing inflammation. Because at the end of the day, rosacea is an inflammatory response in the skin. And so you want to reduce that inflammation first and foremost. So, like, that's why with rosacea, like, our top product for that is going to be lipid serum because it reduces inflammation in the skin. And glacial is going to be giving you tsc. Oh, yeah. And so lipid C or glacial, is going to provide that controlled cooling and really bring the skin temperature down and help your rosacea. Like, it is insane, actually. And we've looked at. I'm pretty sure we posted on our Instagram before. If you go way back in the archives, like some of our clients before and afters with the Vizia, they have that redness filter to where you see the underlying redness in the skin. And it's like a night and day difference between, like from the glacial. Yeah. And it like lasts. That's the thing.
B
It's like, it's not just solve and then it comes back.
A
Like, we don't do a Vizia picture at the beginning of a treatment. At the end, like, we do it when they come in for their next treatment. And it had been three, four weeks since she had come in.
B
And like, still the redness was still.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah. That's incredible.
A
Is vitamin C actually needed daily or is there a better antioxidant? I think vitamin C is more used as like, the colloquial term for antioxidant. Like, even, like, you know, if someone's like, what's your favorite vitamin C? We're gonna say alto advanced. But alto advanced is so much more than a vitamin c. It has 20 different antioxidants. I think could be wrong there. I think it's like 19 +PQQ or something like that.
B
Hydro C is great too.
A
Yeah. And so, I mean, yes, vitamin C is great. I think there's a lot of forms of it that is not tolerable to most people's skin. Alto Advanced is tolerable in most cases that we see. I mean, even our acne clients are able to get on it.
B
But I used to get super irritated when I used to La Roche Posay is vitamin C. I don't know why I was here. I was a big Laroche girly before I met Tyler. And yeah, I will say that one was too much for my skin.
A
Yeah.
B
But I. My skin thrives without.
A
I swear by that girl yeah, Even when I tell him not to use it, I still use it. Restorative Ha and lipid serum or just one or the other or what? I don't know, just in general. And we were talking about this a little bit on the last podcast, but I would definitely say use them both together.
B
You would use Power Duo?
A
Yeah. You would use lipid serum first, then Restorative Ha on top. Lipid serum. I feel like a lot of people have the misconception that it is a hydrator, but really.
B
Because I feel like it feels like it, but like you have to look at the benefits. You have to look it up. It's an anti inflammatory product that's just solving every main skin concern, which is inflammation. Like it's not focused on any sort of hydration, but it feels on your skin like it's like doing something. Like you feel like that disco ball.
A
Well, it's. I mean it is hydrating, just not at the same degree that a serum like Restorative HA. Like with Restorative HA, its technology is made for 360 hydration in the skin. It has dual weight and. Or it has a dual weight hyaluronic acid technology. So you're getting that deeper hydration while still hydrating the surface of the skin.
B
Yep.
A
And then lipid serum, like he said. I mean, I love the feeling of lipid serum because when you put it on, it feels like a drink of water for your skin.
B
That's what I'm saying.
A
Yeah.
B
It's just, it's not what the main concern and what the main help it
A
does is the, the hydration is not going to stay the same way that restorative Ha is going to provide.
B
I know today actually I had a little patch of dry skin right here and I was like, oh, the podcast is today. What am I going to do? And I put on just a little bit of Restorative Ha and gone in the next hour. But I feel like if I used lipid serum it would have been like a temporary fix. Like it would have stayed and like made it go away for like maybe 15 minutes, but it will still have come back. So sort of ha.
A
Best retinol for a 40 year old.
B
My mom loves intensive Alpharette overnight cream. She's a big fan. She loves it. She. Her skin actually she has super sensitive skin like me. But she is very tolerable. She hasn't had any issue ever since she first started it. So yeah, no, say that's a great one.
A
I would say if it's like your first time ever using retinol, and you're nervous. You could start with the regular alpharette, but if you have experience in the past, intensive alpharette is the way to go. It just has a higher concentration of the glycolic acid, so it's still going to be the same amount of the alpharette technology at the lactyl retinoate. It's not a higher percentage of that. It is just increasing the glycolic acid in the formula to provide enhanced exfoliation for more aging skin or resilient skin.
B
Cracks in heels.
A
I don't know what that means.
B
Like, in the heels of your foot. Like, they're talking, like, the bottom of the foot, you know, when it's, like, a little dry, you got, like. I know some. Some of our older friends, they got those cracked heels. So I feel like. I don't know. I feel like.
A
I feel like we're sort of. Ha.
B
Maybe a little encore down there.
A
Yeah. I mean, if you want to use skincare, I'd probably use, like, restorative. Ha.
B
Yeah.
A
And then barrier care gel cream or comfort cream.
B
And then I wonder if, like, derma
A
lack lotion would help down that cell protection balm.
B
Perhaps it has those ahas.
A
Yeah. But I'm like, if it's cracked, I feel like it's, like, compromised.
B
Yeah, but sometimes it's just like, I don't know, that dry skin on that foot. I've seen some people with some dry heels.
A
Thoughts on Sculptra? I think we love sculpture.
B
Yeah.
A
I don't think there's anything bad about Sculptra.
B
It's like, no hate on Sculptra here.
A
It's more natural, I think. And I think it's more temporary, too. Like, it causes your own skin to create volume that's lost. We don't provide it. Does lipid serum go before or after Alpharette?
B
Before. Absolutely before.
A
This is a test for him, too,
B
and I've been succeeding. I feel like I got an A so far.
A
Okay. Yeah.
B
You did not.
A
I would say an A. I wouldn't
B
say you're, like, not an A minus, though. I'm at a 94.
A
Maybe 93.
B
Oh. What. What made me lose?
A
I'm gonna say you're like, 93 is
B
like, if I. I feel like if I've got a 93 on a test, I, in my mind am like, shit, I messed up. But if I got a 94, I'm
A
like, I don't think you're, like, an overachiever. Right now, actually, I'm just an achiever.
B
I am so overachieving. I'm giving. I'm giving facts on facts. You want me to say TSC again? I'll do it again.
A
No, you didn't even say it the first time.
B
Tetramethylhexidase. No. Succinyl cysteine.
A
Okay, okay.
B
94. That was a 94.
A
How to apply plated eye and ampra. Need an eye cream Also, I feel
B
like with plated eye, we had a little teaching session with Doug and he said it's like to the. Like right about the. It's called the occipital. Like right here. And then around. He said to do that.
A
He was like, not with that finger. There you go. Yeah. You're supposed to use your ring finger because it has the lightest touch and you can do it all around the eye. And you would do that first and then Ampra after full face.
B
Yep.
A
And on the neck, why not throw it all over?
B
I do amper on my neck.
A
Yeah.
B
You know, I'm trying to get those lifted. That lifted jaw.
A
Need an eye cream Also, I think if you're using plated eye, I would use IMAX at night. Like, give you a little switch up. I feel like plated eye is good for like tightening the skin around the eye. Like we call it a bluff in a bottle. And then I feel like IMAX is really going to help with the exfoliation around the eye opening. Brighten your eyes to. Helping brighten.
B
Yeah.
A
Darker under eyes. And really like also strengthens that like
B
under part of your skin on your eye. Strengthens the thin skin there. Yeah, Yeah. I made that in our post that's yet to be shared. And you approved it. Compare struggles with razor burn and causes help. I know one. I have two things. So we actually had a training recently with color science. They came into the office and it was wonderful. We got to have a nice little lunch with them and spend the day learning about all their products and using it like hands on experience. And one of our. One of our. Why am I forgetting the name? One of our reps was telling us that her husband actually shaves with Barrier Pro cleanser. He uses that as his shaving cream and it has helped stop all those razor burns and that breakouts on his neck because of the barrier essentials that Barrier Pro does have. So I tried it once and I will say it did work for me. The biggest thing that I've used is a Philips OneBlade. That's helped a ton and then just going in with like a. I love to use the Epicutus oil cleanser and exfoliating enzyme powder. Powder. Like mixing that together like it's like three squirts. Then one little dash of the enzyme. And I feel like that has helped me so much because I used to get terrible razor burn. And that has helped me tremendously.
A
Yeah. I think it's always recommended to do some physical exfoliation after especially like so to prevent ingrown hairs and stuff. So also love the detoxifying scrub mask from Skin Better or the peptide micro scrub from Glymed.
B
And I will say that I shaved actually this. Most recently this Sunday. And I use oxygen oxygen deep pore mask after. And my skin. I had no razor burn. My skin felt super good after I. We are big fans in this house.
A
Always get dry skin after using clearing serum. But have the best moisturizer. Wait, I'm not sure what that question is. I don't know.
B
I use clearing serum. Yeah.
A
I don't think you're.
B
They're using barrier care gel cream. Maybe with a little cell protection balm on after. Yeah, that'll help you a lot. Coming from experience. Someone said isn't in the budget.
A
I would say the retinol from Face Reality. I know Savannah would say that too. It's certainly not a bad retinol by any means. It's also definitely not at the same level of technology that Alpharet is. It's. I think Alpharet is going to address so many more skin concerns because it has such a complex formulation. So you're gonna help with the irritation. You're going to help with the anti aging if you get clearing serum or. Honestly for me, the regular formula helps so much with my acne. It has that added exfoliation for pigment and pore size and wrinkles fine lines. So I feel like the retinol peptide serum from Face Reality is going to function a little less drastic in the skin, but it's still a very good option.
B
Already starting to baldness in.
A
I think she's saying that baldness runs in the family.
B
Like I'd say go in with that.
A
Go in with trifecta.
B
Hair trifecta. Exactly. Get those extras of hair gummies, that plated hair serum and then some of that factor five shampoo. That factor five shampoo. I used it when I did not need my hair to grow. And my hair grew.
A
Yeah. No, I think wild. I really, really have seen the most insane results, especially from plaited hair. We were talking about that on the last Thing, But, I mean, it is astounding how well a product can work. I. I don't know. I've never seen anything like it.
B
Those before and afters are honestly breathtaking.
A
And they come in all the time. Like, people constantly send us pictures of their before and afters. Because I. I mean, I think it's more so, like, you know, when you're using a face product or something. Like, you'll be able to tell without taking pictures of before and after. So I feel like a lot of people forget to take before and afters if they're, like, starting Alpharette or something. Yeah, but with the hair, like, that's something you need a picture of to remember. And so we're fortunate enough.
B
They're so cool to see, like, every single time. I'm like, God damn.
A
I know. And it makes you want to use it, even though we don't really.
B
Yeah, we don't even need it. But I'm like.
A
I mean, if I was a girl, I'd use it, but I'm like, I already have thick hair, and I don't want to. I don't want to. I already have to get haircuts every three weeks. I don't want to increase that.
B
Tyler knows there was once a time, back in the day before I worked at sba, and I love my friend to death, but I let her cut my hair, and she cut it extremely short, and I was very, very, very stressed about it and, like, it growing back and stuff. And I was like, tyler, I've seen these stories on the Instagram, on the Dallas aesthetician. I was like, I need this hair serum. And he was like, you don't need the hair serum. And I was like, no, I need this. I need anything for this to happen. And I used that, and it worked. And once I. I think I had,
A
like, three at home.
B
No, I think you did, but we couldn't find. He has a big product box. Have we talked about this before? Your product box? Oh, man.
A
I know.
B
He has a huge box. It's like a Lowe's or Home Depot box that's full of, like, backstock of products. Like, let's say if, like, a rep comes in and gives products, he just throws it into the box and it is packed to the brim. And I was telling him, when we move into our new apartment, I was like, we should get, like, container store stuff. Like, let's make it look organized at least.
A
Well, the thing is, is I moved with it into my place, and then I. That was the only Thing. Only thing I did not unpack for the entire year. Plus that I lived there.
B
It's sad. And, like, when we. Our friend group used to come over and be like, I was like, go in it. Go digging. And there was one time it was
A
like, my tread, like, you know, at the dentist office when, like, they had a treasure chest when you were a kid. And, like, you could go pick something from the treasure chest. Like, that's what I like. Anytime someone would come over to my apartment, I'd be like, go check the treasure box.
B
But it's also nice because, like, my cousin came into town the other day, and I was like, I feel like I should give her something. And he was like. And I told him the two things I was going to give, and he's like, give her more. Give her more. And I was like, no, no, no, no, no. I'll give her some. I gave her a great amount. But I was like, we got to keep some of this.
A
You never know. Got to be prepared. It's very. I'm very fortunate to have that. And honestly, it's like, something that all of the OG SVA girls have. Everyone who has been there before, since we were in the old spot, we've all been together for, like, three years now. And Maria longer.
B
I mean, Savannah gives the best. Like, whenever it's like a holiday, like Valentine's Day, she gives the best baskets, they have the best snacks, the best. We got scene hair care. And the best thing about Tyler and I, now that we both work there,
A
is that we get double of everything.
B
We get double of everything. So that box is getting full. But also, like, for Tyler, he.
A
I stick to my skincare. So, like, when I get a box
B
like your hair care. So, like, this scene stuff, I love it. So I'm like, I got four.
A
Yeah, no, I.
B
It's wonderful.
A
I'm a creature of habit, so I don't like to switch it up.
B
Meanwhile, I'm over here, like, I want to do this. I want to do this. Let me do this. I want to try something new.
A
Okay, we're going to answer one more question. You're not picking this time. I want to learn thoughts on the newer face reality SPFs I have heard because I haven't personally used it. I'm a tone smart girly through and through. But I know from you just had a Face Reality training, actually. And I know from Lauren, our provider, we have clients who have smaller budgets, and so Face Reality sunscreens are always what we're gonna go to. Yeah, I'VE heard that these are so much better than the previous ones, just the way they go on the skin. I know that there's especially. I'm not sure which one, but one of them is, like, really great for all skin types. Like, there's, like, no feel like it's the power mineral. Um. But yeah, I just have heard really, really great things about the new SPFs from base reality and same thing. Like, I'm gonna be honest. I used to use Clear Derma. I'm talking. I'm switching to their moisturizers right now. I used to use Clear Derma. Would I say that it was my favorite moisture I've ever used? No.
B
Did we used to carry Clear Derma?
A
We still carry it. I mean, it's a great option, especially for people with oily skin. It's, like, very.
B
Wait, what product do we carry from Clearderma?
A
That's Face Reality. Oh, did you take the training? Oh.
B
Oh, the. Yes, yes, yes. Clear Derma. I'm so. I thought that was the name of a brand for a second. I was like, I know. That's like a product name. I know. Yes.
A
So there's Karyon, Peptide, Clearderma. They were okay. Like, I wouldn't say, like, I loved them or they were revolutionary. I feel like the Clear Derma, like, I don't know. It felt too mattifying to me when they came up with the Barrier Care. The Barrier Care gel cream. I love it.
B
It's so good. It's so good.
A
I'm in love with it. If I'm ever feeling like I need some extra moisture, that's the product I'm gonna go to.
B
And it's. I use that moisturizer religiously daily, morning, night. And then he'll be like, I used the Barrier Care Gel. And I was like, no, you did not.
A
No, that's mine.
B
Because you know me stingy.
A
He's stingy. Okay, y'. All. Well, that's all I have for this week. Thank you, Ryan.
B
Of course. Okay, wait, Final score. Did I stay at a 93? 94, I think the Clear demo. You probably put me in a 91, right?
A
Yeah. You went down to a 91.
B
No, 90.
A
No, that was bad.
B
No, they would agree.
A
I want y' all to comment the rating you give him for this episode.
B
Give me a 94, please. They will. They'd give me.
A
Okay. Love you guys.
B
Bye. We love you,
A
Sam.
