Keep going down this road. We've got this. We're gonna make it to the end.
Candace Cameron Bure
I'm gonna cry already. It's my. It's all I wanna do. Francis. Yes, I long to hear. Well done, my good and faithful servant. Hi friends. I wanna share a couple of products I absolutely love and use in my everyday routine from New Ethics. The first is Courtease. I've talked about this on my podcast before. I've also shared it on socials because life gets hectic. And for me, between running an entertainment company, filming, producing, traveling family, well, sometimes I can feel my stress levels rising. Cortease supports healthy cortisol levels and helps regulate that stress response, which makes a huge difference for me when I wake up. If I know I've got a big day ahead, I might take two capsules in the morning or I might take them in the afternoon. And on really high stress days, I might take two capsules three to four times throughout the day. It helps me feel calmer, more relaxed and grounded. The other one is New Lights Electrolytes because staying hydrated is super important for everyone. New Lights comes in single serving packets so they're very convenient. I throw them in my purse and backpack so I always have them with me. I add one to my 32 ounce water bottle and sip it throughout the day. New Lights has three key ingredients, sodium, potassium and magnesium which supports hydration, muscle function and recovery. I have been shocked at how sea salt LED electrolytes have given me so much energy throughout the day and I love that. This formula is pretty clean. Zero sugar, zero calories, no artificial sweeteners. It's just lightly sweetened with stevia and they have some great flavors. Watermelon is my go to favorite. I also really like grape. Both of these have become staples for me. I've been taking them every day for over a year and a half. I'm gonna link em below in my show notes and make sure you use the code Candice with a capital C for a disc that is Court Ease and New Lights from New Ethics. I want to share something with you that's really close to my heart. The people of Israel. I've always believed that some promises don't fade with time. And God's promise to Israel is one of them. Even when the world feels uncertain, that promise still stands. And I truly believe that now more than ever, we're called to show up with compassion, with kindness and with action. That's why I'm so honored to partner with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews for more than 40 years they've been on the ground in Israel providing food, care and life saving help to those who need it most, especially the elderly and Holocaust survivors. Supporting people in need isn't just something I believe in. It's something I feel deeply called to do and I hope you'll join me. Welcome to the Candace Cameron Burry podcast. On this show, we deep dive into the conversations you care about. This season is with my friend, pastor and bestselling author Francis Chan. Come join us, Frances. It's our last week together. I thank you so much for.
Francis Chan
Oh, no, this has been good.
Candace Cameron Bure
For being here and talking and you reignite my faith. Not, not that it went anywhere, but you just give me this little extra dose of.
Francis Chan
But that's what I feel like you did for me. It was like, wow, that is so cool. I'm so glad, you know, just to see the way you're responding to the gospel still and in your life and hearing about. Because, yeah, I mean, we don't spend a lot of time together, so just to hear it all, it's like this fires me up.
Candace Cameron Bure
Yeah. Well, cool.
Francis Chan
Yeah.
Candace Cameron Bure
Thanks for being instrumental in my life. And it is cool to sit here with you not as a teenager anymore, but a woman who's been married for 30 years. Yes. And honestly, I didn't, I don't think I realized that you're not very much older than me because while you thought I was a seven year old, you probably, I felt like you were probably 40, you know, and you were like 28 years old.
Francis Chan
I was, I looked older then, I feel like, because I was trying to hold onto my hair, my hairline kept going worse and worse and I didn't know if I'd look good bald. And so I just kept going for it and it just made me look older. And then once I shaved, I'm like, oh, I like that.
Candace Cameron Bure
Well, it's been incredible just to know you and have walked through life even at a distance at times. But to go back and think of all the marriage retreats we went to together and, you know, Sundays at church and then just seeing you at mutual friends homes and birthday parties or, yeah. Funerals, whatever, whatever it may be, conferences, it's.
Francis Chan
Yeah.
Candace Cameron Bure
Been amazing.
Francis Chan
Yeah. And I, I just want to say, because I know we're talking about perseverance Today.
Candace Cameron Bure
Yeah.
Francis Chan
Making it to the end. And. And I guess that's why I was so looking forward to being with you, because kind of watched your journey and saw the way that you stood for the faith all of these years. And, you know, it feels weird because I'm only a few years old, but I almost feel like. Like, I'm proud of you. I hope that doesn't sound weird, but
Candace Cameron Bure
I'm like, I appreciate it.
Francis Chan
Gosh, I'm so grateful. And see, you know, how Val's doing and your kids are doing. Like, yes. And then seeing the way you've been responding to the gospel, I'm like, yes. And. And I just. I just want to say to you, like, please hold on. Like, keep going down this path. We've seen too many just destroy their lives and destroy their testimony and people that made it so many years ago. Now you're going to ditch it all. Like, you're about to die soon, and now you're going to mess up your life and, you know, undo all of the. It's just the enemy is so crafty, and I'm just. I just want to beg you, like, keep going down this road. We've got this. We're going to make it to the end.
Candace Cameron Bure
Totally. I'm going to cry already. That's my. It's all I want to do. Francis, I long to hear, well done, my good and grateful servant.
Francis Chan
Yes. And the key is exactly what you're doing is increasing your enjoyment of him. Then it becomes like, what am I going to leave him? That's ridiculous. I mean, don't you feel like when all those disciples or all the people were leaving, and he looks at the disciples, are you going to leave? And Peter's like, where would we go? You've got the keys to eternal life. Right now, I think in our minds, we're like, what am I going to leave God? After everything we've been talking about and what he's done our whole lives? Like, no. And. And yet we're seeing so many people do that exact thing.
Candace Cameron Bure
I know. And what I was going to say. Why is that? Well, the enemy.
Francis Chan
It is the enemy. But there's also this side where I look back and. Because a lot of people from back in the day are so far from the Lord right now. But back then, I wasn't really looking for the love of God in their lives. I didn't really look at their life and go, gosh, does that person really enjoy the love of Christ? I just thought, well, they do good things. They're not doing anything bad. And they're serving in the church. And that's not what this book is about. It is about this incredible relationship we can have to where this love is so strong that you just endure the difficult times. And, you know, I. I was just thinking about a couple passages in Revelation that I just wanted to read to you.
Candace Cameron Bure
Yes.
Francis Chan
You know, he says, do not fear. You know, Revelation 2:10. What you're about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison that you may be tested. And for 10 days you will have tribulation. You will be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. Then later in the chapter, he's talking to the church in Thyatira, and He says, verse 25, only hold fast what you have until I come. The one who conquers and who keeps my works until the end. To him I will give authority over the nations, and he will rule with them. He will rule them with a rod of iron and. And I will give him the morning star. He who has an ear, let him hear. It's just. Okay, hold on. Stand firm. Do whatever you need to do. Candace, do not back off from this. I don't know what's ahead for you, for me. But, Sister, like, we're gonna make it. He got us this far. He's been faithful to us. He's been good to us. And there's gonna come a day where we'll look at each other in his presence and everything he has for us. Didn't I tell you it'd be worth it? Didn't I tell you we could make it? Like, I want that day. I want to see you one day.
Candace Cameron Bure
Yeah.
Francis Chan
And go. Candace. He did it. He sustained us to the end. And now no more tears. You know, not that your tears are bad. Tears cried a lot during these six weeks, but it's. It's just, ah, we're going to stand before him and, like, there's zero fear at that point. Because you see him, you're like, who's going to approach him? Who's gonna defeat him? Like, we're safe in his arms and it's forever. And all the pleasures he goes are at my right hand. And we just gotta make it through. Yeah, you're not that much younger than me. We're old. And it's like, it'd be dumb for us to turn.
Candace Cameron Bure
So who are some people in your life that you have? Talk about maybe real people. And then I'd love to talk about biblical examples as well, of people that have that you have witnessed, endure that, give you encouragement.
Francis Chan
I mean, most recently, I could probably check my phone to just have a friend who's dying right now. Like, he. I don't know if he's going to make it through this day. And he's only. He's actually 50 or 54, you know, he's lived a faithful life. And called him the other day because I heard, you know, he's not going to make it. And as I'm talking to him, I'm about to go into a chapel for this high school and, you know, like a thousand kids. And I was like, hey, Alan, this is kind of a crazy idea, but could I FaceTime you in front of the whole chapel in a few minutes? The way you're talking about death, I think they need to hear it. And I got in the chapel, I'm like, hey, can you get my phone on the screen? And da, da, da, da. And they're like, yeah. And so I'm FaceTiming this guy who's on his deathbed. And I go, hey, why don't you tell these kids what it feels like? Are you scared? And the way he is just like. I mean, you could hear a pin drop.
Candace Cameron Bure
I mean, sure.
Francis Chan
Middle school, high school, kids, not a noise. Or just staring. And he's like, no, God loves me so much. I know how wide and long and high and deep I get to see him. Ah. Because if you told me I could be healed right now, I'd be like, ah, no, it just keeps getting better and better. So when you think of an example and these kids just were rocked, they'll never forget that, I'm sure. But it's like he wanted to finish. Well, he wanted to. If I still have breath in my lungs, yeah, I probably look horrible, you know, but yeah, I'll talk to them. And then afterwards, you know, I called him on ride home and he's like, oh, that was awesome. Anything else I can do before I die? You know, like, let me know. And it's like, that's super cool. And actually, when I called him on the phone, this is pretty cool. When I called him on the phone the first time when I heard all this was happening, I hadn't talked to him in years. And he's just talking about death, talking about life, talking about Jesus. And the whole time I'm like, oh, I should have recorded this. You know, I wish I had recorded this. At the end. I go, yeah, I wish I could have recorded this. This was so amazing. He goes, oh, actually, my wife is Here, recording everything, because she's documenting. I'm like, what? Okay, I got a copy of that. Can I post it? He's like, yeah, post it. Whatever. You know, like, yeah. So it's online now. It's just. That's the way we should feel at the end, you know, the memorial service we were just at not too long ago, Al, when he was dying, different Al, he said, you know, hey, will you do my memorial service? And he's asking, hey, is God going to be mad if I stop my dialysis? I don't want to do anything that would make him mad, you know, or whatever. You know, he still had, like, this childlike or whatever. And I just assuring him, hey, hey, hey, you know, let's. We talked through some different issues and whatever things and just reminded him of God's love and forgiveness and, you know, because he came to the Lord much later in life, and it's beautiful. I love being with people at the end, especially the ones that are confident and they know it and they get it, and God wants us all to enjoy that. Lisa's grandmother, remember her? She was. I really miss her. She was an amazing woman. And I know that the time of prayer that she had for me every day. I know I lost something when she went to heaven, but I remember talking to her at the old folks home. And mind you, let me tell a quick story, okay. One time I was at a play with her, and it was like a family thing. Lisa and I were newly married, and I didn't want to be there, but it's like, all right, we'll watch this thing. Family duty. And. And so during halftime, I look at grandma because she's sitting next to me. I'm like, you know, hey, Grandma, what do you think? And it was very clean. It was fine. And she goes, I don't want to be here. I'm like, me neither. And I go, but what's your problem? She goes, I just don't know if I want to be sitting and watching a play when Jesus returns. I would rather be in my bedroom just praying for you on my knees and praying for the church. And I just. I don't want to sit here and watch a play.
Candace Cameron Bure
Whoa. Wow.
Francis Chan
This woman is always thinking about the return of Christ. And so it wasn't shocking that when Lisa and I would talk to her, you know, when she was in a facility at the end, and. And she's just like, every night I go to bed and I go, jesus, is tonight the night? Am I going to see you tonight? And it was just so sweet, you know, I forget if she was late 80s or 90s. I'm just like, oh, that's so precious. She goes, I keep going, jesus, why do you have me down here? I just want to go, but maybe there's someone here in this facility you need me to minister to. But I really want to come. See, it was just such a real relationship where I go, oh, I want that for everyone. So just examples of people that finish. Well.
Candace Cameron Bure
It's incredible. Yeah. I would say. I mean, he's not anywhere near finishing, but I look to my brother as an example of endurance in my life, particularly because he, he's not in entertainment anymore.
Francis Chan
Yes.
Candace Cameron Bure
But, you know, he's a strong man of God, and he's always asking questions, and he's always reading his Bible and always wants to know truth and discovering that and, and has been through hard times over the years.
Francis Chan
Yeah.
Candace Cameron Bure
Within the, within Christian circles. And so I, I really look to him for encouragement, especially when I'm in a place of needing some endurance.
Francis Chan
Yes.
Candace Cameron Bure
And to say, I can do this, I can do this. You've done this before me.
Francis Chan
That is so cool. I didn't realize how much you look to him and.
Candace Cameron Bure
Yeah, I do.
Francis Chan
Yeah. Because he has been so faithful. I miss him. I haven't seen him in a long time. Does he look old yet? He's got to.
Candace Cameron Bure
He's starting to look old, but he's, like, very manly. He's like, got the ear. Oh, yeah. Oh, really? Yeah.
Francis Chan
He always had just that baby.
Candace Cameron Bure
He might as well be on Duck. Duck Dynasty now, you know.
Francis Chan
That's hilarious.
Candace Cameron Bure
Yeah.
Francis Chan
I need to look him up and see a picture of him. That's funny.
Candace Cameron Bure
Who are some of. I mean, I think of Paul in the Bible as a person of endurance. There's so many examples. But I, I, I love when I, when I focus on some of the, I mean, he wrote so many of the books of the New Testament, but when I'm reading those, I, you can just see a pattern and a theme. That, where he started was almost like, I am the apostle Paul. I am, I don't have my Bible with me, but he starts this. And towards the latter books, it's more like, I am a servant of Christ. It just, he, he became more humble. He had more humility, but he endured so much. And you talked about that in an early episode that, you know, how many beatings in jail and.
Francis Chan
Yeah.
Candace Cameron Bure
And yet he just persevered. And when I'm in a, when I feel like I'm going through something. I just look to Paul and I'm like, if he can do it, I can do it, because I'm not anywhere near what he experienced.
Francis Chan
And they made it.
Candace Cameron Bure
Yeah, they made it.
Francis Chan
People have gone through so much and in other countries it is outrageous what they go through and what's normal to them. And they would be shocked, you know, if they heard what causes us to give up. You know, it's embarrassing.
Candace Cameron Bure
It is embarrassing.
Francis Chan
Yes. And it's like, no, I'm not going down. I am not going down.
Candace Cameron Bure
We've talked a lot on this show about having a healthy relationship with our bodies. And let me remind you, God doesn't love us anymore or any less because of the number on the scale. Yet weight loss can be a very valid goal, and sometimes it feels a whole lot harder than it should. I know how it goes. You're making better choices, you're trying to eat healthier, you're staying active, and yet the scale barely moves. And that can be incredibly discouraging. That's something PhD weight loss really understands because for many people, the issue isn't willpower at all. What's happening under the surface. At PhD weight loss, the focus isn't just on eating less or moving more. It's about helping your body work with you again. Their approach looks at metabolism, mindset and habits together, not in isolation. Many traditional diets solely focus on calorie counting and restriction, which can actually make weight loss much harder over time. PhD starts by helping people become metabolically flexible, training the body to use fat for fuel instead of constantly relying on sugar for energy. When that happens, energy levels stabilize, cravings quiet down, and weight loss stops feeling like a daily battle. Their meal plans are intentionally designed to support that process. They're rooted in whole, nutrient dense foods, similar to an ancestral or paleo style approach, while also using familiar, thoughtfully formulated meal replacements early on to ease the transition. That way clients aren't shocked into change overnight. Instead, they're guided, step by step towards sustainable habits their body can actually maintain. And just as importantly, PhD does not ignore the mental and emotional side of weight loss. That component has been instrumental in my health journey. They help clients understand their patterns, triggers, and relationship with food. So progress isn't driven by guilt or restriction, but by clarity and confidence. Francis Chan
Yeah, Good.
Candace Cameron Bure
What do you think it's going to be like?
Francis Chan
Oh gosh, Yeah. When God says at my right hand are pleasures forevermore. And we've lived privileged lives on this earth and we've experienced some of the greatest pleasures, you know, this world has to offer and seeing some beautiful places and we have great families and joy and and to just believe the Lord that there's something even way beyond that. You know when Jesus says I'm preparing a place for you, and to take that literally and go, okay, in my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, I would have told you. And it's really hard to imagine. But here's the thing is I used to take that passage in First Corinthians 2. I've quoted it before. It's about what no eye has seen, no ears heard no, mind isn't conceived what God has prepared for those who love him, but God has revealed it to us by his spirit. So I go, huh? I don't feel like I can visualize what it's going to be like. But he says, God has revealed it to us. And I think I was thinking so much like if I close my eyes long enough, is he going to give me a vision of the streets of gold or whatever? It's really going to look like the streams, the life, whatever. And what I'm realizing now is there are times when I'm with the Lord, and like we've talked about, he reveals his love to you. You are so satisfied, so full. It's like you've overeaten and you're about to burst. And it's like, I can't take anymore. And that's what he reveals to us. See this feeling where you don't have any want. Forget the physical part that'll be there, and you can try to imagine if you want. What I'm talking about is a fullness that you will feel forever being in the presence of God. Like those moments when you're like, I can't take anymore, Lord, you are too good. Because I just revealed to you what it's going to be like. Because he says, this is eternal life, that they may know you. You know, it's like, and we think too much, like, is there golf in heaven? Can I surf in heaven? Can I do this? And it's.
Candace Cameron Bure
I know I want to. I. I want to pray that I desire that so greatly to be in the presence of God, that that is worth looking forward to at the end of my life. But what you said, I think a lot of us are in such earthly terms that we're like, but I'm going to miss that, and I'm going to miss playing that or doing that or seeing them. And yet everything you described.
Francis Chan
Yes.
Candace Cameron Bure
About the fullness of God. I want to desire to be in the fullness of God. That. That is. Yes, that is enough.
Francis Chan
Well, we're bombarded with, like, every advertisement, every, you know, everywhere you go. Like, you could be here, you could do this, could experience this. You could, you know, and it's hard not to just have those things not affect you at all. And so pretty soon your mind is on earthly things. Like, that's. That's it. It's like, wow, I'm thinking about something earthly. And, And I don't know. At the same time, God does say he gives us all these things. He creates these Things for us to enjoy. And so, like, enjoyment isn't wrong, but it's like when I'm just thinking about the things of the earth and I'm not imagining. And I know you kind of have things you want to say and questions you want to answer, but just. I feel like right now I'm supposed to pray.
Candace Cameron Bure
Okay, let's do it.
Francis Chan
I want to pray for you. I want to pray for the people that are listening. Because like I said earlier in an earlier episode, like, there's a miracle that has to take place. Like when you said, I want to feel that. I want to hunger for that. And we just said it during this episode. Like, no, there's times when we pray and ask for something. He gives it to us, this desire. And it's like, yeah. Even as you said that, I'm like, gosh, is that what I'm looking forward to? Am I longing to see his face like Grandma Clara was? And just, you know, or like, Alan. And maybe Alan has seen him during this recording. You know, it's like, I want that. And sometimes I. Many times I don't long to see his face. You know, like Moses was like, okay, I gotta have more. You know, I want to actually see your face. I want to actually see your glory. She can't. But that desire, yeah. Like, there have been modes in my life when I've wanted that. Times, like seasons, where it's like, God, I want to experience more. Can you give me more? Can you give me more? Because this is better than anything. But then suddenly, I don't know how it happens. Suddenly I'm thinking about my handicap and golf, or, like, I get better and my swing is awful, you know, like. And suddenly, I don't know. I don't know what it is for you, if it's like. But I'm like, how did that happen? I didn't care about this stuff just a while ago. And now suddenly, I'm totally off of God onto these other things. I just want to pray for a miracle.
Candace Cameron Bure
Thanks,
Francis Chan
Father. Right now, Anders and I, your son and your daughter, are just sitting here believing you're here with us and that you love us. Thank you. Thank you, God. Thank you. That from those early days. We're kids. You've sustained us all these years. Thank you. You've caused us to love you more. You keep revealing more about yourself. Thank you. And then you're leading our families to you, and they're enjoying you. God, this has been amazing. God, I pray for Candace right now. Please, Lord, please. Holy Spirit, Come and just fill her in such a way that she's just confident that she's going to persevere to the end. Just destroy any lies that are in her mind, any doubt of your love for her. Give her this peace. God, you said that those who persevere to the end will receive the crown of life. May she just long for that. There's a day, God, when we're both going to be standing before you, looking at you and God, honestly, we don't think about that often. You know, that. Hardly think of that at all. And I'm asking you, God, would you change that in us just because of this prayer? Please pour your grace on us, but that we would just think daydream about seeing your face, how amazing that's going to be. God, I pray for everyone that's listening right now. Would you just do a miracle? Create a hunger in them for you. That old hymn says, like the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of your glory and grace. God, just make the things of this earth grow dim for us. Lord, the enemy just keeps deceiving us. Break the lies. Save us. Come, Lord Jesus, in your name we pray. Amen.
Candace Cameron Bure
Amen. Oh, guys, I'm a mess. Thank you for being here. Yeah, thank you for all of your prayers and encouragement and I just know how much this is gonna bless everyone listening, so thank you.
Francis Chan
Yeah.
Candace Cameron Bure
Oh, it's my whole goal, Francis. I just wanna thank you. Help. Help people take one step closer to knowing who God is in his love for them.
Francis Chan
This is going to encourage a lot of people.
Candace Cameron Bure
You're.
Francis Chan
I'm so. I'm so glad you had me.
