All right, this week we're talking about hate, so specifically hating evil. And we're doing so as we dive into Psalm 97. So let me read it here again and I'll be reading from the esv. And it's called the Lord reigns. The Lord reigns. Let the earth rejoice. Let the many coastlands be glad. Clouds and thick darkness are all around him. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. Fire goes before him and burns up his adversaries all around. His lightings light up the world. The earth sees and trembles, the mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory. All worshipers of images are put to shame who make their boasts and worthless idols worship him. All you gods. Zion hears and is glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments, O Lord. For you, O Lord, are most high over all the earth. You are exalted far above all gods. O you who love the Lord, hate evil. He preserves the lives of his saints. He delivers them from the hand of the wicked. Light is sown for the righteous and joy for the upright in heart. Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name. So guys, as I mentioned yesterday, the entire week we're going to be focusing in on verse 10 again. I'll read it. Oh you who love the Lord hate evil. He preserves the lives of his saints. He delivers them from the hand of the wicked. And specific Specifically, my thesis is that we as Christians don't hate evil nearly enough. So today we're going to be talking about how Christians don't hate the evil of abortion of enough. So there are a lot of third rails in modern day culture and politics and abortion has to be one of the biggest ones and has been for a long time. Now. Christians across the globe and specifically in America have consistently been the ones at the forefront of the fight for life. Thankfully. However, I would say that the majority of Christians are actually pretty squishy on the subject of life. So I've seen interviews with supposedly Christian pro lifers and I've seen them just absolutely fall to pieces when challenged by leftists or pro abortion people as to why we should protect unborn children. They typically have no answer to the most common pro abortion arguments such as, you know, what about rape and incest or my body, my choice, or Christians only care about the baby before it's born, or you know, stuff like that. So I have a speech that I actually give that helps to equip Christian pro lifers with ways to answer those objections. But we need to focus in on why Christians should hate the evil of abortion more. So to be clear, not hating the people involved in the abortion race, right? But hating the evil of the procedure of abortion and the actions therein, which concludes with the destruction of an image bearer of God. Okay, so here are three reasons why we should hate abortion more. Reason one, Abortion kills innocent human beings. And guys, God hates that, right? I mean, God says this in Proverbs 6, 16 and 17. There are six things that the Lord hates. Seven that are an abomination to him, haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood. And it obviously goes on from there. Now when I train people on this subject, I tell them that they need to memorize the pro life argument, which is actually really simple. It's two parts. Part one. Abortion intentionally and directly kills innocent human life. Part two, it is always wrong to intentionally and directly kill innocent human life. I'll say it again. Abortion intentionally and directly kills innocent human life. It is always wrong to intentionally and directly kill innocent human life. Period. Reason number two, God knows us all and forms us in our mother's wombs. So God says through the prophet Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:5, Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. And before you were born, I consecrated you, I appointed you a prophet to the nations. We aren't just a clump of cells, right? The moment a one celled egg cell of our mamas joins with the one celled sperm cell of our dads and create a one celled zygote. That's us. Like at that moment, a new human being is now taking up space on God's earth. And God sees us through the rest of our days from there. And reason number three, Christians are called to defend the helpless. God says in Proverbs 24:11, Rescue those who are being taken away to death. Hold back those who are a stumble or who are stumbling to the slaughter. So guys, it is our duty, okay? It's not a privilege. It's not something that we should do when it's convenient. It is our duty to protect those who have no way of protecting themselves. And that is no more true for anyone on this planet than the unborn. So are Christians called to hate? Yes, we are called to hate evil and our hatred must compel us to act so. We should push back the darkness of abortion at every opportunity. Amen.

Summary of Podcast Episode #125: "You Don’t Hate Evil Enough: Abortion"
Podcast Information:
In Episode #125 of The Daily Blade, hosts Joby Martin and Kyle Thompson delve deep into the topic of hatred towards evil, specifically focusing on the issue of abortion. The episode is framed around Psalm 97, which sets the stage for understanding God's stance on righteousness and evil.
[00:01] Joby Martin: "The Word of God is described as the sword of the Spirit, the primary spiritual weapon in the Christian's armor against the forces of evil. Your hosts are Joby Martin and Kyle Thompson, and they stand ready to equip men for the fight. Let's sharpen up."
Kyle Thompson begins by reading Psalm 97 from the English Standard Version (ESV), emphasizing God's sovereignty and His disdain for evil acts.
[00:20] Kyle Thompson: "The Lord reigns. Let the earth rejoice. Let the many coastlands be glad... O you who love the Lord, hate evil. He preserves the lives of his saints. He delivers them from the hand of the wicked..."
This passage serves as the biblical underpinning for the episode's central thesis: Christians are called to vehemently oppose evil, with abortion being a primary focus.
Kyle articulates his main argument that Christians today do not detest evil—specifically abortion—to the extent that is required by their faith.
[01:00] Kyle Thompson: "My thesis is that we as Christians don't hate evil nearly enough. Specifically, we're not hating the evil of abortion sufficiently."
Acknowledging the contentious nature of abortion in modern culture and politics, Kyle points out that while Christians have historically been at the forefront of the pro-life movement, many today exhibit a lack of resolve.
[02:00] Kyle Thompson: "The majority of Christians are actually pretty squishy on the subject of life. I've seen interviews with supposedly Christian pro-lifers who fall apart when challenged by pro-abortion arguments like rape and incest or 'my body, my choice.'"
He emphasizes that this squishiness undermines the Christian stance against abortion, highlighting a need for firmer conviction and preparedness to counter common pro-abortion arguments.
Kyle introduces a straightforward, two-part pro-life argument designed to equip Christians for discussions on abortion.
[03:00] Kyle Thompson: "The pro-life argument is really simple. It's two parts. Part one: Abortion intentionally and directly kills innocent human life. Part two: It is always wrong to intentionally and directly kill innocent human life. Period."
This concise formulation serves as a foundational tool for Christians to articulate their position clearly and effectively.
Kyle presents three compelling reasons why Christians should intensify their opposition to abortion, each supported by biblical references.
Abortion is fundamentally the taking of innocent life, an act that is condemned in Scripture.
[03:30] Kyle Thompson: "Abortion kills innocent human beings. God hates that, right? Proverbs 6:16-17 states that there are six things the Lord hates, including open eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood."
By referencing Proverbs, Kyle underscores that the act of killing innocent life is directly opposed to God's character and commandments.
Every human life is known and formed by God even before birth, highlighting the intrinsic value of each individual.
[04:00] Kyle Thompson: "God says through the prophet Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:5, 'Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.' From the moment of conception, we are recognized as unique individuals by God."
This theological perspective reinforces the sanctity of life from its very inception, making abortion not just a moral issue but a spiritual affront.
Christians have a biblical mandate to protect those who cannot protect themselves, including the unborn.
[04:30] Kyle Thompson: "In Proverbs 24:11, God commands us to 'Rescue those who are being taken away to death. Hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.' It's our duty to protect the helpless, and the unborn are among the most vulnerable."
This call to action positions Christians as active defenders of life, emphasizing that opposition to abortion is not optional but a divine responsibility.
Kyle wraps up the episode by reiterating the necessity for Christians to embody hatred towards evil acts like abortion, not out of malice towards individuals but due to the inherent wickedness of the act itself.
[05:00] Kyle Thompson: "We should push back the darkness of abortion at every opportunity. Amen."
Joby Martin concludes by urging listeners to share the podcast and support their mission to equip men for spiritual battles.
[05:07] Joby Martin: "Thank you for listening to today's episode. Before you go, if you want to help equip other men for the fight, share this podcast around and leave us a five-star rating and review. Stay sharp."
