Hi, guys. Welcome back. This week we're talking about hate, so specifically hating evil. And we're doing that as we dive into Psalm 97. So let me go ahead and read it again here. It's called the Lord reigns. The Lord reigns. Let the earth rejoice. Let the many coastlands be glad. Clouds and thick darkness are all around him. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. Fire goes before him and burns up his adversaries all around. His lightings light up the world. The earth sees and trembles, the mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory. All worshipers of images are put to shame who make their boasts. And worthless idols worship him. All you gods, Zion hears and is glad. And the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments, O Lord. For you, O Lord, are most high over all the earth. You are exalted far above all gods. O you who love the Lord, hate evil. He preserves the lives of his saints. He delivers them from the hand of the wicked. Light is sown for the righteous and joy for the upright in heart. Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name. So our main focus verse for this week is verse 10. So again it reads, o you who love the Lord, hate evil. He preserves the lives of his saints. He delivers them from the hand of the wicked. And my thesis for this batch of episodes is that as Christians, we don't hate evil nearly enough. So yesterday we talked about the evil of abortion. Today we're going to talk about how Christians don't hate the evil of child abuse enough. So specifically, when I'm talking about child abuse, I'm talking about children, children that are physically and sexually molested. I'm talking about children that are being trafficked for either sex or for labor. I'm talking about how the culture is preying on young and vulnerable, convincing them that they were born in the wrong body. And in all of these situations and things that are tangentially attached to them, humans that are more powerful are seizing opportunities to exploit those that are weaker and most vulnerable. So here are three reasons why we should hate child abuse more. Reason number one, God loves and protects children. So God says through Matthew in Matthew 19, 13, 14. Then children were brought to him that he may lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuke the people, but Jesus said, let the children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven. And he laid his hands on them and went away. So guys, in God's kingdom, children are not second class citizens, right? Maybe they are in your house or maybe that's kind of how you grew up or something like that. But that's not how God sees it. So here Jesus affirms the value and the dignity of children. So when people devalue and violate a child in any way, it is a direct offense to the heart of God. Reason number two, God despises human traffickers and sexual exploiters. So you want to know what God thinks of man stealers? So let's look at Exodus 21:16. Whoever steals a man and sells him, and anyone found in possession of him shall be put to death. Okay? I mean, this was part of the law that was given to Israel, and this reflects the justice of God. And then the apostle Paul's first letter to his people, Timothy, he says this in First Timothy 1, verses 8 through 11. Now we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted. So, guys, needless to say, God detests those that participate in human trafficking, especially those in human sex trafficking, and especially those trafficking children. The third reason, transgenderism, is a direct rebellion against God's created order. Genesis 1:27 says this. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God, he created him. Male and female, he created them. So this isn't a spectrum here. Male and female, he created them. So when you attack human sexual dimorphism, right, you are attacking God's creation, and beyond that, you are attacking capital T, truth itself. There's almost no more fundamental truth in this entire universe than the separation of the sexes. I mean, without this separation, procreation and propagation of any species would not be possible, right? So God designed all of this in a way. And anyone trying to convince children otherwise, they're doing something abominable because God designed it this exact way, right? So are Christians called to hate? Yes, we are called to hate evil and our hatred must compel us to act. So we should push back the darkness of child abuse at every opportunity. Amen.

The Daily Blade: Joby Martin & Kyle Thompson Episode #126 - Kyle Thompson // You Don’t Hate Evil Enough: Child Abuse Release Date: June 25, 2025
In Episode #126 of The Daily Blade, hosts Pastor Joby Martin of the Church of Eleven22 and Kyle Thompson of Undaunted.Life delve into a sobering and critical topic: the insufficient Christian hatred toward evil, specifically focusing on child abuse. This episode aims to equip Christians with a deeper understanding and a stronger resolve to combat the pervasive evil of child abuse in society today.
Kyle Thompson begins the discussion by grounding the conversation in Scripture, reading Psalm 97:10:
"O you who love the Lord, hate evil. He preserves the lives of his saints. He delivers them from the hand of the wicked."
(00:20)
This verse serves as the cornerstone for the episode’s thesis: Christians are called to hate evil more fervently than they currently do, particularly in the context of child abuse.
Kyle asserts that Christians do not hate evil enough, emphasizing that this insufficient hatred allows evil, particularly child abuse, to persist and flourish. He underscores the necessity for believers to not only acknowledge the gravity of such evil but to actively oppose it.
The discussion broadens the definition of child abuse beyond physical and sexual molestation to include:
Kyle highlights how societal forces prey on the most vulnerable, leveraging power imbalances to exploit children’s innocence and trust.
Kyle presents three compelling reasons why Christians must intensify their hatred toward child abuse, each supported by biblical references.
God's inherent love and protection for children are vividly portrayed in Matthew 19:13-14:
"Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuke the people, but Jesus said, 'Let the children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.' And he laid his hands on them and went away."
(01:15)
Kyle emphasizes that in God's kingdom, children hold immense value and dignity:
"In God's kingdom, children are not second-class citizens."
(01:30)
When children are devalued or abused, it directly offends God's heart, making the fight against child abuse a spiritual imperative for Christians.
Examining Exodus 21:16 and 1 Timothy 1:8-11, Kyle underscores God’s zero-tolerance policy toward those who exploit humans:
"Whoever steals a man and sells him, and anyone found in possession of him shall be put to death."
(02:05)
"The law is not laid down for the just, but for the lawless and disobedient... for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers..."
(02:30)
This unequivocal stance reveals that human trafficking, especially involving children, is a grievous offense against God’s justice and righteousness.
Kyle tackles the contentious issue of transgenderism, framing it as a direct rebellion against God’s creation:
"God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him. Male and female, he created them."
(03:10)
– Genesis 1:27
He argues that attacking the distinction between sexes undermines the fundamental truth of God’s design:
"There’s almost no more fundamental truth in this entire universe than the separation of the sexes."
(03:45)
Kyle contends that disrupting this divine order is not only an attack on biological reality but also an affront to the very essence of truth as ordained by God.
Concluding his argument, Kyle reiterates the Christian mandate to hate evil and act against it:
"We should push back the darkness of child abuse at every opportunity. Amen."
(05:00)
He urges believers to move beyond passive condemnation, advocating for active resistance and protection of the vulnerable as expressions of their faith and obedience to God's commands.
Pastor Joby Martin wraps up the episode by encouraging listeners to take actionable steps in combating child abuse and other forms of evil. He calls for sharing the podcast, leaving positive reviews, and supporting the mission to equip men for spiritual battles.
"If you want to help, equip other men for the fight, share this podcast around and leave us a five-star rating and review. Stay sharp."
