All week we've looked at an Irish prayer from St. Patrick called St. Patrick's Breastplate, or the Deer's Cry. So let me read the beginning of it here. I rise today through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity, through belief in the threeness, through confession of the oneness of the Creator of creation. I rise today through the strength of Christ, with his baptism, through the strength of his crucifixion, with his burial, through the strength of his resurrection, with his ascension, through the strength of his descent, for the judgment of doom. So today we're going to key in on this line. I arise today through the strength of his descent, for the judgment of doom. In Acts 17, Luke records Paul addressing the Areopagus in Greece. And verses 30 and 31 quotes Paul as saying, the times of ignorance, God overlooked. But now he commands all people everywhere to repent because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed. And of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead. And with that, you know, if you're wondering what that judgment would look like, Paul actually says this in 1st Thessalonians, chapter 4, verse 16. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. So then we see In Revelation 20, we see the Apostle John talk about the judgment before the great white throne. So let's start in verse 11. Then I saw a great white throne, and him who is seated on it. From his presence, earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne. And books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it. Death. And Hades gave up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each of them, according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Now, Revelation 21 starting in verse one. Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. For the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, preparing as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more. Neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. And he who was seated on the throne said, behold, I am making all things new. Also he said, write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true. And he said to me, it is done. I am the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God, and he will be my son. But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death. Now if that sounds scary to you, maybe it's because you know which book your name is written in. If your name is not in the Lamb's Book of Life, then I compel you to give your life to Christ right now, right at this moment. Relinquish control of your life. Transfer your faith from yourself to Jesus for the payment of a sin debt that you could never pay. Pay back one last time. Let's close out the week by reading the end of St. Patrick's Breastplate. Go in strength, gentlemen. Christ with me. Christ before me. Christ behind me. Christ in me. Christ beneath me. Christ above me. Christ on my right. Christ on my left. Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise. Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me. Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me. Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me. Amen. Thank you for your attention this week. Stay sharp.

Summary of The Daily Blade Episode #138: Kyle Thompson – "St. Patrick’s Breastplate: Through the Strength of His Descent for the Judgment of Doom"
In Episode #138 of The Daily Blade, hosts Pastor Joby Martin and Kyle Thompson delve deep into the profound Christian prayer, St. Patrick’s Breastplate, focusing particularly on its powerful declaration: "Through the strength of His descent for the judgment of doom." This episode, released on July 11, 2025, serves as a compelling blend of devotional reflection and biblical exposition, aiming to equip believers with spiritual insights essential for their daily walk.
Kyle Thompson opens the discussion by introducing St. Patrick’s Breastplate, also known as the Deer’s Cry, an ancient Irish prayer attributed to St. Patrick. He recites the opening lines:
"I rise today through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity, through belief in the threeness, through confession of the oneness of the Creator of creation. I rise today through the strength of Christ, with his baptism, through the strength of his crucifixion, with his burial, through the strength of his resurrection, with his ascension, through the strength of his descent, for the judgment of doom."
(00:20)
This prayer serves as the foundation for the episode's exploration of divine strength and impending judgment.
Kyle zeroes in on the pivotal line: "I arise today through the strength of his descent, for the judgment of doom." He correlates this with Acts 17, where Paul addresses the Areopagus in Greece:
"The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness."
(01:45)
He emphasizes that this judgment is anchored in the resurrection of Christ, providing assurance to believers.
Transitioning to 1 Thessalonians 4:16, Kyle highlights:
"The Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first."
(02:15)
This passage underscores the literal descent of Christ and the resurrection of the faithful, setting the stage for the final judgment.
Delving deeper, Kyle references Revelation 20:11-15, detailing the Great White Throne Judgment:
"I saw a great white throne, and him who is seated on it. From his presence, the earth and sky fled away... And the dead were judged according to what they had done."
(02:45)
He explains the gravity of this event, where not only deeds but the very names in the Book of Life determine one's eternal destiny. The imagery of the lake of fire as the “second death” serves as a stark warning.
Revelation 21 is then examined, presenting a vision of New Heaven and New Earth:
"The dwelling place of God is with man. He will wipe away every tear... I am the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end."
(03:30)
Kyle contrasts this promise of eternal fellowship with the dire consequences for the unfaithful, reinforcing the urgency of salvation.
Addressing the listeners directly, Kyle urges:
"If your name is not in the Lamb's Book of Life, then I compel you to give your life to Christ right now, right at this moment."
(04:00)
He emphasizes the necessity of relinquishing control and placing faith in Jesus for salvation, highlighting the impossibility of self-achieving redemption.
The episode culminates with Kyle reciting the concluding verses of St. Patrick’s Breastplate, a powerful affirmation of Christ's omnipresence:
"Christ with me.
Amen."
(04:15)
This prayer serves as a spiritual armor, encapsulating the episode's theme of relying on Christ's strength in all aspects of life.
In this episode, Kyle Thompson effectively intertwines traditional Christian prayers with scriptural insights, offering listeners a robust understanding of Christ’s role in both personal strength and the ultimate judgment. Through thoughtful exposition and heartfelt exhortation, the episode invites believers to reaffirm their faith and ensure their names are inscribed in the Book of Life.
