All right. Welcome back. Day three of our deep dive into Jesus encounter with a woman at the well. Now, yesterday, where we left off, Jesus has just said, everybody that comes to this well, whoever drinks of this water, then you will be thirsty again and again and again, and you have to keep coming back. But I have a supernatural water. I have a living water. And if you drink from this water, then you will have a spring of water welling up to eternal life. And then the woman says, sir, give me this water so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water. Now, if I were to step in in this moment and coach Jesus up on his evangelistic practices, then I would tell Jesus, all right, buddy, you got him. All you gotta do is close the deal right now. Don't talk about anything else. Don't talk about her past and don't talk about her current situation and don't talk about her lifestyle. All you gotta do in this moment is get her to admit it she's a sinner, to believe in you and to confess you as Lord, and it's over, man. You know, check the box, pray the prayer, raise your hand, you're good to. And that's not what Jesus does. Jesus goes for the jugular. I mean, from an evangelism standpoint, she is set up perfectly to receive Christ in this moment. But what Jesus wants is Jesus wants all of her. Not just some kind of prayer, not just some kind of emotional response. Jesus just doesn't want her to feel seen in the moment. Jesus wants her whole entire life, the good, the bad, and especially the ugly. So he digs in to the deepest, darkest, most shameful place in her life. Verse 16. After this woman asks for this living water, Jesus said to her, go call your husband and come here. And the woman answered him, I have no husband. And Jesus said to her, you are right in saying you have no husband, for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true. And the woman said to him, sir, I perceive that you're a prophet. Yeah, he's more than a prophet. He knows everything about you. You see, here's the thing, man. The fake you is doing just fine. And church is the worst place in the world for the fake person. I mean so many people get a bad case of the finitis the moment you come to church. Even if you don't go to a dress UP church, like 1122 is not a dress up church at all. You still put on your best, you clean up and you brush your teeth and you smile big. And then the amount of people that come walking into church and the ushers say how you doing? And you answer with fine, but you ain't really fine. Jesus won't put up with it. You see, Jesus wants the real you because the real Jesus down on the real cross for the real you. So you can leave the fake you at home. And the reality is that Jesus already knows. He already knows the dirt, he already knows the sin. He already knows the shameful things in your past and it will do no good hiding them. In fact, if you fight the devil in the dark, you're always going to get your butt kicked. The Bible calls us to confess and to repent. You see, if you really want to be free, if you really want to learn to live in freedom, then you better learn to be honest. Be honest with first and foremost the Lord. And also you need some brothers and sisters in your life that can pray for you that you can be honest with. In fact, James, the brother of Jesus says that we are to confess our sins to one another and that we are to pray for one another that we may be healed. You see, Jesus is never going to be caught off guard. Jesus knew exactly what he was getting when he died on the cross for you when Jesus Christ pushed up on his nail pierced feet and he says it is finished. It is for every sin, it is for every broken promise, it is for anything that you have done, especially the things that you want to hide from him. So I dare you to to make it a daily habit that you confess and repent, that you go deep dark into the past. The things that you thought you could hide away in that spiritual closet and you dig them up and you confess and you bring them to Jesus. And the good news about the Christian post resurrection confession is you don't have to go into a little booth with another person. But Jesus is our high priest and he is our mediator to God the Father. And when we as believers confess our sin, we're not confessing so that we will be forgiven. We are confessing that we are sinners, but our sin has already been paid for by the blood of Jesus. And we are confessing that as a method to cleanse us. So that we can walk in the freedom that Christ has already purchased for us. So man, I dare you in your prayer time, in your time with your band of brothers, your foxhole brothers, confess and repent because Jesus really loves the real you.

Podcast Summary: The Daily Blade #151 – "Jesus Doesn't Want Your 'Fine' – He Wants All of You"
Release Date: July 30, 2025
Hosts: Joby Martin & Kyle Thompson
Duration: Approximately 5 minutes
The episode begins with Host Joby Martin setting the tone for the day’s discussion by highlighting the significance of the Word of God as the "sword of the spirit," the primary weapon in a Christian’s armor against evil forces (00:01). This metaphor underscores the podcast's mission to equip men for spiritual battles, aligning with the show's overall theme of practical Christian living.
Kyle Thompson takes over to continue a three-day series analyzing Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4:1-26). He recaps the previous day’s discussion where Jesus offers "living water" that leads to eternal life, contrasting it with the physical water that only quenches thirst temporarily (00:20).
Kyle critiques a common evangelical approach, suggesting that instead of seeking superficial conversions, Jesus pursues a deeper, more transformative relationship. He posits, “If I were to step in this moment and coach Jesus on his evangelistic practices... you know, check the box, pray the prayer, raise your hand, you're good to go” (Kyle Thompson, 02:15). Kyle emphasizes that Jesus seeks the entirety of a person’s life—the good, the bad, and especially the ugly parts—rather than just a fleeting emotional response or a simplistic confession.
Addressing the facade often maintained in church settings, Kyle points out that many individuals present a “fake you” to conform to social expectations. He states, “Even if you don't go to a dress-UP church... you still put on your best, you clean up and you brush your teeth and you smile big” (Kyle Thompson, 03:10). This pretense is counterproductive to genuine spiritual growth, as Jesus desires authenticity: “Jesus wants the real you because the real Jesus died on the real cross for the real you” (Kyle Thompson, 03:45).
Kyle delves into the biblical call for honesty and repentance, citing James’ directive to “confess our sins to one another and that we are to pray for one another that we may be healed” (Kyle Thompson, 04:30). He explains that true freedom in Christ comes from fully embracing one’s past and present, allowing Jesus to cleanse and redeem: “When we as believers confess our sin, we're not confessing so that we will be forgiven. We are confessing that we are sinners, but our sin has already been paid for by the blood of Jesus” (Kyle Thompson, 05:00). This process is presented not merely as a ritual but as a transformative practice that enables believers to walk in the freedom Christ has secured.
The episode concludes with a strong exhortation to embrace authenticity in one’s faith journey. Kyle urges listeners to “make it a daily habit that you confess and repent,” encouraging them to delve into their deepest truths and present their whole selves to Jesus. Joby Martin wraps up by reinforcing the call to action: “Share this podcast around and leave us a five-star rating and review. Stay sharp” (Joby Martin, 05:27).
This episode of The Daily Blade challenges listeners to move beyond superficial expressions of faith and engage in a deeper, more authentic relationship with Jesus. Through a thoughtful exploration of the biblical narrative and practical exhortations, Joby Martin and Kyle Thompson inspire men to embrace their true selves, fostering a community rooted in honesty, repentance, and genuine spiritual growth.
