Hey guys, this is David Pollack here. Excited to be with you filling in this week for Joby Martin and Kyle Thompson and going to share a little bit about my story and some important things to me. Going to start with the word of God and really how I viewed the word of God when I was little and how it started to change as I've gotten older. When I was little, I didn't have any faith and I didn't go to church. And then once I started to read the Bible, I wanted to figure it out. And I thought it was something that people talked about with, hey, this is what they believed, this is their truth. But how did I know it was really truth? And I think that was one of the things that was cool that I started to ask some questions and one of the guys I was sitting down with, he was like, hey man, how do you know that George Washington was the first president? I'm like, because of the history books. And he was like, well, that's what the Bible is. The Bible's a history book. And as we started to unravel that, man, it was really fun to learn about this book that was written by 40 plus authors over a 1500 year period point, right? But these 66 books that were in there, the consistency across the books, all of it pointing to Jesus, the Messiah who was to come. And I wanted to know, you know, more about that. And as I started to read, man, I started to realize the Bible is a playbook, right? So I equated it to football. Every situation that I get in, in life, it has the answer for me. It tells me what I need to do, what I need to pursue. And I think as we continue to be Christians and as we continue to chase God and chase greatness, like we need to understand for a long time I was checking a box, right? Like I read it, got up in the morning, got it done. And then I started to realize, man, instead of reading the Bible for information and instead of letting it become repetitive, I know this story. I've read it. I realized, man, once I got up in the morning and I put that in my heart, it continued to come out of my mouth all day long. And that was so important. And we know in second Timothy, 3, 16 and 17, it tells us all Scripture is God breathes, right? And it's for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness. Like, this is not just a thing that he's given us to kind of know. He wants us to intimately know this. We know in Psalm 119, this is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. So instead of reading it for information, we gotta start reading it for transformation. Like, why do you read it? What do you want it to do for your life? And, you know, it's amazing. We've talked about the Bible for years, and I think everybody understands and knows. The Bible doesn't change, right? It's been set for a while. It's the most scrutinized, analyzed, transcribed book in the history of all mankind. It doesn't change. But you know what does change? What those words mean to you? Because we're constantly changing throughout our life. So. So what we read in a verse a year ago, we're walking through a different season now. It might mean something totally different. And I want to give you, like, a small example of something that I just read. We've all read the account of David and Goliath. And I say account, not stories. Stories can be made up. It's an account, right? And in 1st Samuel 17, 57 and 58, as soon as David returns down from killing Goliath, Abner brought him to Paul or to Saul, excuse me, with the Philistines head in his hand, right? David still got Goliath's dome in his hand. And he said, tell me about your father, Saul. And David replied, his name is Jesse and we live in Bethlehem. To me, that meant really not a lot as when I was growing up, when I was reading the scriptures for the first time. But now as a dad, like, listen to that again. Basically what he said was, who raised that giant killer? That's what he said, man. Who raised that dude who raised that boy that just conquered? A giant like that is so powerful. I want to raise giant killers. I want to raise kids that know the word of God, because when they know it and they put it in their heart, they know what it feels like and it starts to come out of their mouth consistently. I'm going to be here all week with you guys, excited to share more about God, my story in God. And so I'll catch you guys tomorrow.
