What's up guys? David Pollack here. Day four, filling in for Joby Martin and Kyle Thompson. Kind of cool, kind of excited, man. Excited to talk about prayer and prayer is such a powerful thing in our lives and, and I know you've read in the Bible where it's in so many places and it's just, it talks about the, the ability to connect with God and to have a relationship with God. And for me, for years, man, extremely transactional relationship. Like I would ask him, you know, in the morning, I would talk to him, I would ask him, you know, around meals and just sporadically when I thought about it, you know, it's something that I'd reach out to God and holler at him. But as I've gotten older, man, and I started to build some rhythms, it's really made a huge difference in how I talk to God and most importantly how I hear from God. And I use this system. For me, first of all, I have to be selfish in the morning if I want to be selfless the rest of the day. And I have to get my prayer done first thing, first thing I do is go straight to my sauna for, for 20 minutes and it's a non negotiable, whatever time I need to get up, that's coming first. It's 20 minutes to pray. It's to get still. The Bible says be still and know that I am God. How many times do we really do that? A lot of us want to hear from God and we want to hear from God on an awesome high level. But we don't get still enough. We don't have time to listen, we don't make time to listen, we don't make time to talk. So creating that time for me in the morning is pivotal because I'm going to get my 20 minutes every single morning. And then I've started to develop a rhythm and I've started to develop the three Rs and here's the three Rs for me that help me really bring God into my day, into my past and help me succeed in my prayer life. Because I'm going to be honest, it can be boring, it can be monotonous, it can be something that you feel like you do the same prayer all the time. But now if I use my three Rs, it has really helped me. So the first R is. Is reflect. So reflect on what God did yesterday. What did I do, man? What did I do in the morning? What did I do for lunch? What did I do at nighttime? Like, what are those moments I had yesterday? What are the ones I have to be thankful for, man? Because there's always a lot to be thankful for. So I immediately reflect on the past and what happened. And so now I've brought God into my past and what happened to yesterday. And then I repent. The second R is repent. Now I've told God I'm sorry. Because where did I mess up yesterday as I reflect, where did I use my words incorrectly with my wife? Where could I have been better with my children? Like, I find those areas that I have to turn over to God because I wasn't good enough and I didn't do what I needed to do. And. And I need him to help me change my heart. And the third R is repurpose God. I have X, Y, and Z today. He, you know, I have a breakfast, I have a lunch. There are things I'm going to do now. I'm inviting God into my pattern. Like, this is what I'm going to do. God, please give me your words to speak today. Like, help me when I'm in this moment, that I'm honoring you, that I'm glorifying you. You know, one thing that the Bible talks about consistently, if you pray for wisdom, it will be granted. So praying for wisdom should be something that we're seeking day after day, as much as we possibly can. There's a few verses, man, that I want to share with you about prayer. In Philippians 4, 6, 7, do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Trade anxiety for prayer and you get his peace. Like, think about that man, to be able to invite him into your day, and you'll get even more peace. First Thessalonians 5, 16, 16, 18. Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. Give thanks in all circumstance, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus. For you. Pray continually. It is his will for your life, right? Build those rhythms so you build that space so you can do it. Then mark 1124. Therefore, I tell you whatever, whatever you ask in prayer, believe you have received it you and it will be yours. Faith in asking. Have the faith when you ask. Hebrews 4:16 and we'll shut her down. Let us then with confidence, draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Bold access to your father through prayer. Prayer is amazing. It's a gift man. Let's steward it well.
