Kyle Thompson
Welcome back. Day three of the seven sayings of Christ on the cross, we're going to move over to John, chapter 19. And again, I'm covering these in the order that Jesus said them on the cross. And we have four different gospels. We have Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. They're not four different stories. They're the same story or the same event covered from four different witnesses. Two eyewitnesses, one interviewed an eyewitness, and one interviewed a whole plethora of eyewitnesses. And in John 19:25, the Bible says, but standing by the cross of Jesus, we were his mother and his mother's sister Mary, the wife of Clopas and Mary Magdalene. And when Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved, that's John standing nearby, Jesus said to his mother, woman, behold your son. And then he said to the disciple, behold your mother. And from that hour, the disciple took her to his own home. Here's what I want you to try to get your mind around. First and foremost, can you even imagine what Mary is thinking in this moment? I mean, come on, if you're a dad, you remember what your wife did when you had your first kid. When that first kid is presented to mama, the first thing they do is they kind of unwrap them if they've been wrapped up in that little burrito cloth thing that they give you to keep them warm. And the first thing they do is mamas go to the fingers, they go to the toes. They count them all up. One, two, three, four, five. One, two, three, Four, five. They go down to the toes. One, two, three, 4, five. One, two, Three, four, five. And they smell those little tiny hands, those little tiny feet. Mary is no different. When Jesus was born, I bet she grabbed him and she counted those toes and she counted those fingers. And if you'll remember that an angel warned her that she would be pierced through the heart. And this is what the angel was talking about. And this mother of Jesus who one day held those little baby hands and feet now is watching her son with nails through those same hands and feet. And here's what I want you to try to get your mind around, that Jesus is in the moment accomplishing what the Father has sent him to accomplish. He's a little busy. He's got a lot going on. He literally has the weight of the sin of the world pressing down upon him and the judgment of God being poured out on him that by his stripes we are being healed, that he is being pierced for our iniquity, that Christ crucified on the cross is redeeming all things unto himself. And yet, even in that moment of cosmic justice and grace being poured out the cross, he looks out and he sees the needs of somebody that he loves. He sees his mom. And then he makes provision. Jesus makes provision to take care of the immediate, temporary physical needs of his mom. He says, mom, my disciple John's going to take care of you. Hey, John, I want you to take care of my mom. Now, here's why I share this. That the almighty sovereign King of the universe, he cares about you. He knows you. He loves you. The Bible says He knows the very hairs on your head. The Bible says, look at the birds. Doesn't he take care of the birds? I mean, they don't reap or sow, and yet he gives them plenty, plenty plenty. Jesus says, look at the flowers of the field. Look how God closed the flowers. And so if he can take care of birds and flowers that way, how much more would he take care of you? That the Bible says, from the apostle Peter, cast all your cares upon him because he cares for you. Listen, some of you are going through it right now, and some of you think, well, it's not that big a deal. Well, listen, the reason it's a big deal to God is because you are a big deal to God. And if Jesus can take care of his mama from the cross, then the resurrected Christ, seated at the right hand of God the Father right now wants to take care of you. He wants you to run to him to make your request known to him, to cast all your cares upon him. There's this beautiful picture in the book of Revelation, In Revelation, chapter 8, one of the things that you can agree on is things are wild and loud. There are locusts, there are dragons, there are trumpets, there are stars falling.
Joby Martin
There are.
Kyle Thompson
There are plagues, there are horses. It is loud. And then In Revelation, chapter 8, verse 1, God shushes heaven for 30 minutes. He says, everybody, be quiet. Archangels, put away your instruments. Soldiers, stop marching horses. Be quiet. Everybody hush. Stop the singing. You want to know why? Because the prayers of God's people are being lifted up. And God wants to hear the prayers of his people. So if God shuts down heaven to hear the prayers of the people and Jesus meets physical needs for those that he loves from the cross, then shouldn't you cast all your cares upon him right now? You're not a bother. You are an object of the grace of God. He loves you and wants to care for you. Why don't you tell him what you need from him right now? Amen.

Title: The Daily Blade: Joby Martin & Kyle Thompson
In episode #71 of The Daily Blade, hosts Joby Martin and Kyle Thompson delve into the profound significance of Jesus Christ's third saying on the cross, as recorded in John 19. This episode explores the intersection of divine purpose and personal compassion, offering listeners deep insights into applying biblical truths to everyday life.
Kyle Thompson begins by contextualizing the third saying of Christ within the crucifixion narrative:
"Day three of the seven sayings of Christ on the cross, we're going to move over to John, chapter 19." [00:20]
He emphasizes that the four Gospels present a unified account of Jesus's crucifixion from multiple eyewitness perspectives, highlighting the collective testimony of the event.
Delving into John 19:25, Kyle paints a vivid picture of the emotional landscape surrounding Jesus during His crucifixion:
"When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved, Jesus said to his mother, 'Woman, behold your son.' And to the disciple, 'Behold your mother.'" [02:15]
He invites listeners to empathize with Mary, Jesus's mother, juxtaposing her tender memories of holding her newborn son with the harrowing sight of His crucifixion wounds. This contrast underscores the profound sacrifice and love inherent in Jesus's actions.
Kyle reflects on Jesus's dual role as both Savior bearing the world's sins and a compassionate son concerned for His mother's well-being:
"Jesus is in the moment accomplishing what the Father has sent him to accomplish... he looks out and he sees the needs of somebody that he loves." [03:30]
This segment highlights the balance between divine justice and personal grace, illustrating how Jesus's mission encompassed both cosmic redemption and intimate care for individuals.
Transitioning from the narrative at the cross, Kyle broadens the discussion to God's overarching care for humanity:
"The almighty sovereign King of the universe, he cares about you... He knows the very hairs on your head." [04:10]
He reassures listeners of God's attentive and personal interest in their lives, drawing parallels between God's care for creation and His desire to address personal needs.
Kyle underscores the accessibility of God to believers, encouraging them to trust in His provision:
"From the apostle Peter, cast all your cares upon him because he cares for you." [04:35]
He references Revelation 8:1 to illustrate the significance of prayer and God's attentiveness:
"In Revelation, chapter 8, verse 1, God shushes heaven for 30 minutes... because the prayers of God's people are being lifted up." [04:45]
This powerful imagery serves to motivate listeners to bring their concerns to God, affirming that their prayers are heard and valued.
In wrapping up the episode, Kyle reiterates the central message of divine love and provision:
"If Jesus can take care of his mama from the cross, then the resurrected Christ... right now wants to take care of you." [05:00]
This affirmation serves as a poignant reminder of the personal relationship believers have with God, encouraging them to seek His support in all aspects of life.
