Welcome back. Day three in John chapter two, verse five says this and his mother, that's the mother of Jesus said to the servants, do whatever he tells you. I think this is the best advice in the entire Bible that John2.5 is the singular best advice in the whole Bible. If you are a believer or a follower of Jesus, then here's what it means to be a disciple. Just do whatever he tells you to do. Now if you'll do this, I'm telling you, you will always do the right thing. Maybe not the easiest thing, maybe not the cheapest thing, but you will always do the right thing. Do whatever he tells you to do. Well, a legitimate follow up question is going to be this, well how do I know what he is telling me to do? Well, my friend Adam Flint, who's one of the pastors here at 11:22, he created an acronym that spells out Gospel to help us understand the will of God in our life. And so the G stands for gospel. The thing that you think God is calling you to do, how does that align with the advancement of the gospel? Because God is never going to ask you to do something that is out of line with the advancement of the gospel. The O is others. Sometimes the way God tells us what to do. In this case, Mary looks at the servants who she has gathered around and that Jesus is going to speak out loud and the servants are going to hear him very clearly and directly. Well, how in the world do we hear the voice of God? Well sometimes you hear it through the voice of other people, like maybe through sermons or maybe through some of your foxhole guys. So if you've prayed and you think that there's a thing that God is calling you to do, then one of the things I would highly encourage you to do is lay that before some other people that you trust, maybe elders at your church, pastors at your church, or some of your Mac carriers and foxhole guys and see what they think. Do they confirm what God is calling you to do. So that's G gospel O others. The S is scripture. One of the primary way you're going to hear the commands of God for him to tell you to do something is through the Bible itself. And God is never going to tell you to do Something specifically that contradicts what he has told us to do generally. So sometimes I've heard guys come up to me and be like, yep, God told me to divorce my wife because he wants me to be happy. I don't know who you're listening to. That's the voice of a demon. That is not the voice of God. Because the Bible says that God hates divorce and God does not want you to get divorced so that you can be happy. That is not how that works whatsoever. There are some legitimate ways that you can be out of that covenant, but God's not telling you that your happiness is one of those. So whatever it is that you think God is telling you, make sure it aligns with Scripture. Because all Scripture is God breathed and revealed by God, and it is useful. And God is not a liar. He's not going to tell you to do one thing personally and tell us something different in Scripture. Also, as you are figuring out what Jesus is telling you to do, there are some commands that are common to all of us in the scriptures, like go and make disciples, like forgive, like tithe, like love. Do these things. So the G is gospel, the O is others, the S is scripture, the P is prayer. We've already talked about it this week. If you don't know what God's plan for your life is, then you need to pray and say, God, I know generally speaking, the great commandment to love you and love others and the great commission to therefore go and make disciples is, is your plan for me. But, but God specifically, what are you calling me to do now? If you have a decision before you, I would encourage you to pray, guess and go, to consider bringing this before the Lord and bathe it in prayer. And then sometimes you just gotta guess and you gotta go and trust God with the consequences. So how do you know what he's telling you? Do G gospel, O, others, S, scripture, P prayer, E. Sometimes it's your experience. Part of the way I know that God is calling me to continue to preach is because of my previous experience preaching the pastor whose church I was attending. When I felt called into ministry, I went up to him and said, I think I'm being called into full time ministry. What should I do? And he said, I want you to intern at our church because God will always confirm what he calls. And so the way that we know what he's telling us to do is through the gospel, through others, through scripture, through prayer, through our experience. And the last one is this. The L is for love. When Paul tells men to stand firm and act like men. Then he says, let everything you do be done in love. And so whatever it is that Jesus tells you to do, it is going to be in alignment with the gospel, supported and surrounded by others that love and hear Jesus. It's going to align with the scripture, be bathed in prayer. It'll be proved out by your experience. And let it be driven by love. Now men, may you do whatever it is that he tells you to do. Amen.

Episode #86 - Joby Martin // The Servant's Guidebook
Release Date: April 30, 2025
In Episode #86 of The Daily Blade, hosts Pastor Joby Martin of the Church of Eleven22 and Kyle Thompson of Undaunted.Life delve into the depths of discipleship through the lens of John 2:5. Titled "The Servant's Guidebook," this episode serves as a devotional guide to help Christians align their everyday actions with the teachings of Jesus, ensuring they live out their faith authentically and effectively.
The episode opens with Kyle Thompson introducing the central theme derived from John 2:5:
"His mother, that's the mother of Jesus said to the servants, Do whatever he tells you."
[00:20]
Kyle emphasizes that this directive encapsulates the essence of discipleship:
"I think this is the best advice in the entire Bible... If you are a believer or a follower of Jesus, then here's what it means to be a disciple. Just do whatever he tells you to do."
[00:20]
He asserts that adhering to this principle ensures believers act rightly, even if the path is challenging:
"Maybe not the easiest thing, maybe not the cheapest thing, but you will always do the right thing."
[00:20]
To navigate the often complex instructions of Jesus, Kyle introduces an acronym crafted by Pastor Adam Flint of 11:22, designed to help believers discern God's will. This acronym, GOSPEL, breaks down into six key components:
Kyle explains that understanding the core message of the Gospel is foundational:
"The thing that you think God is calling you to do, how does that align with the advancement of the gospel? Because God is never going to ask you to do something that is out of line with the advancement of the gospel."
[00:45]
This ensures that personal missions uphold the spread and integrity of the Gospel message.
Recognizing the role of community and counsel in discernment is crucial:
"Sometimes you hear it through the voice of other people, like maybe through sermons or maybe through some of your foxhole guys."
[01:10]
Kyle advises believers to seek affirmation from trusted individuals within their faith community:
"Lay that before some other people that you trust... see what they think. Do they confirm what God is calling you to do."
[01:15]
The Bible serves as the ultimate guide for God's directives:
"One of the primary way you're going to hear the commands of God... is through the Bible itself."
[01:40]
Kyle cautions against actions that contradict Biblical teachings, exemplifying this with the misuse of scriptural interpretation:
"There are some legitimate ways that you can be out of that covenant, but God's not telling you that your happiness is one of those. So whatever it is that you think God is telling you, make sure it aligns with Scripture."
[02:10]
Prayer is depicted as an essential tool for clarity and alignment with God's will:
"If you don't know what God's plan for your life is, then you need to pray... what are you calling me to do now?"
[03:00]
Kyle encourages a proactive approach—pray, guess, and go—trusting in God’s direction even amidst uncertainty.
Personal experiences and past actions can confirm divine calling:
"Part of the way I know that God is calling me to continue to preach is because of my previous experience preaching."
[04:00]
Kyle shares his journey into full-time ministry, illustrating how God’s guidance was reinforced through practical steps and mentorship.
The final pillar emphasizes that all actions should be rooted in love, aligning with Paul’s teachings:
"Let everything you do be done in love."
[04:30]
Kyle underscores that love ensures actions are not only effective but also compassionate and considerate.
Drawing from the GOSPEL framework, Kyle provides actionable steps for believers to discern and follow God's guidance:
Kyle warns against misinterpreting God's will, particularly when influenced by biased or incorrect teachings, emphasizing the importance of these six pillars in maintaining faithful and righteous living.
In closing, Kyle Thompson reiterates the importance of steadfastly following God's guidance through the GOSPEL framework. By integrating Gospel alignment, community wisdom, scriptural truth, prayerful seeking, experiential confirmation, and underlying love, believers can navigate their daily lives with confidence and purpose.
"Men, may you do whatever it is that he tells you to do. Amen."
