Welcome back to the Daily Blade. Day four. We're going to pick it up in verse three and reread some of these verses for a little bit of context. It says, and when the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, they have no wine. And Jesus said to her, woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come. And his mother said to the servants, do whatever he tells you. Now, there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding 20 or 30 gallons. And Jesus said to the servants, fill the jars with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he said to them, now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast. And so they took it. And when the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, he did not know where it came from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. And the master of the feast called the bridegroom and said to him, everyone serves the good wine first. And when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine, but you have kept the good wine until now. So they run out of wine. Mary gathers the servants, says to the servants, do whatever Jesus tells you to do. Yesterday we covered how do you know what Jesus has told you to do? Well, the moment you know what he has told you to do, the next question is, then why are you not doing it? So let me ask you, what is Jesus telling you to do? Is it call that friend and share the gospel with him? Is it offer forgiveness? Is it pick up the phone and begin that hard work of reconciliation? Maybe he's called you to be extraordinarily generous with the resources that he has given you, that you would sow them into the kingdom so that the kingdom could be advanced and darkness could be pushed back. What is the thing that he has called you to do? Maybe it's to start that ministry or start that Bible study. What is he telling you to do? Now here's what I want to point out. When Mary told the servants, do whatever Jesus tells you to do, the next few things that Jesus told them to do didn't make any sense at all in the natural, and they did it anyway. Jesus said, you see those jars over there? The six stone jars, Men and Women have been washing their hands in that water for, like, three days so far. And so it is nasty. And half the water is gone. So I want you to go get those jars out. I want you to fill them up with more water. Now I want you to go get a ladle, and I want you to dip some of the water that is nasty from people washing their hands. I want you to dip it out. Now I want you to take it to the master of ceremonies. And the servants must have thought, are you crazy? Are you trying to get us killed? This doesn't make any sense. But little did they know that on the other side of about five steps of obedience was a miracle that we're still talking about today. So let me ask you this. What is Jesus telling you to do? And have you ever considered that maybe your miracle or your breakthrough or whatever, that thing that you have been hoping and praying for, maybe your miracle is on the other side of a few steps of obedience? You see, oftentimes the way God works in the New Testament is that miracles happen when we step out by faith and do what Jesus says. In Acts, chapter three, Peter and John are on their way to the temple, and there was a man whose legs didn't work and he was begging for money. And Peter looks at him and says, silver and gold have I none. But what I have, I give unto you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, arise and walk. And then the Bible says, and then Peter reaches out his hand to pick up the man. And it was not in the proclamation of healed legs that the man got healed. It was when Peter reached out his hand, and it was in the action that his ankles were made strong and the man stood up. So I wondered, how many miracles are still laying on the sidewalk? Because you know, God has called you to do a thing, but you were too afraid to do it. You see, faith is acting as if you actually believe that God is who he says he is, and he always keeps his promises. So I dare you, I dare you to actually do the thing that he has called you to do. Buy the ring. Quit the job. Start the new career. Begin the ministry. Write the biggest check you've ever written and take it to your church. Offer forgiveness, share the gospel, whatever it is that he has called you to do. May you be filled with the courage and the obedience to quit whining about it. To quit making excuses, to quit waiting on a sign. Here's your sign. Do what he's telling you to do. Amen.

Podcast Title: The Daily Blade: Joby Martin & Kyle Thompson
Description: The Daily Blade, hosted by Pastor Joby Martin of the Church of Eleven22 and Kyle Thompson of Undaunted.Life, is a short-form devotional show that equips Christians to apply the Word of God to their everyday lives.
In episode #87 of The Daily Blade, Pastor Joby Martin delves into the profound obedience exemplified in the biblical account of Jesus turning water into wine. Joined by Kyle Thompson, the hosts explore how following God's instructions, even when they defy natural understanding, can lead to miraculous outcomes in the lives of believers.
The episode begins with a recapitulation of the biblical narrative from John 2:1-11, where Jesus performs his first miracle at the wedding in Cana. Joby Martin revisits the passage, emphasizing the dialogue between Jesus and his mother, Mary:
Joby Martin [00:20]: "Mary gathers the servants, says to the servants, do whatever Jesus tells you to do."
He underscores the significance of Mary's directive to the servants to heed Jesus' instructions without question, setting the stage for a discussion on obedience.
Joby transitions into a deeper analysis of obedience by highlighting the irrationality of the servants' tasks:
Joby Martin: "The moment you know what he has told you to do, the next question is, then why are you not doing it?"
He challenges listeners to identify what God is calling them to do in their lives, whether it's sharing the gospel, offering forgiveness, reconciling relationships, or advancing the kingdom through generosity and ministry.
A central theme of the episode is the connection between obedience and experiencing miracles. Joby shares the story of Peter and John healing a disabled man in Acts 3, emphasizing that the miracle occurred not just in the proclamation but in the tangible action:
Joby Martin: "In Acts, chapter three, Peter and John are on their way to the temple... it was in the action that his ankles were made strong and the man stood up."
He draws a parallel to the Wedding at Cana, where the servants' obedience led to an extraordinary miracle:
Joby Martin [00:20]: "They filled them up to the brim... So let me ask you this. What is Jesus telling you to do? And have you ever considered that maybe your miracle or your breakthrough... is on the other side of a few steps of obedience?"
Joby addresses the common barrier of fear that prevents believers from executing God's commands. He encourages listeners to act in faith, believing in God's promises and stepping out despite uncertainties:
Joby Martin: "Faith is acting as if you actually believe that God is who he says he is, and he always keeps his promises."
He urges the audience to take bold steps in their personal and spiritual lives, whether it's making significant life changes, initiating new ministries, or extending generosity beyond comfort zones.
To make the message actionable, Joby provides concrete examples of obedience:
He emphasizes that these actions, though challenging, are the pathways through which God effectuates change and performs miracles.
Immediate Obedience: Just as the servants at Cana followed Jesus' instructions despite confusion, believers are called to obey God promptly when they discern His will.
Faith in Action: True faith manifests in deeds. It’s not merely believing but acting on that belief which brings about divine intervention.
Courage to Act: Overcoming fear and excuses is crucial. God’s promises are reliable, and stepping out in obedience aligns believers with His miraculous work.
Joby Martin [00:20]: "Do whatever Jesus tells you to do."
Joby Martin: "Maybe your miracle or your breakthrough... is on the other side of a few steps of obedience."
Joby Martin: "Faith is acting as if you actually believe that God is who he says he is, and he always keeps his promises."
Joby Martin: "Here's your sign. Do what he's telling you to do."
In this powerful episode, Joby Martin reinforces the imperative of unwavering obedience to God's directives. By reflecting on the story of turning water into wine, he illustrates that obedience, even when it defies logic, is a conduit for experiencing God's miracles. Listeners are encouraged to identify and act upon God's call in their lives, trusting that their faithful obedience will lead to divine breakthroughs.
As the episode wraps up, Joby and Kyle remind listeners of the importance of equipping others and fostering a community of obedient believers. Joby concludes with a heartfelt exhortation:
Joby Martin: "May you be filled with the courage and the obedience to quit whining about it. To quit making excuses, to quit waiting on a sign. Here's your sign. Do what he's telling you to do. Amen."
Listeners are left with a clear call to action: embrace obedience as a pathway to miracles and live out their faith through tangible, courageous steps.
