In this episode of The Heart Helper Podcast, artist Rico Flash opens his heart and shares a truth many men live with, but rarely name — having a father in the home, yet lacking emotional presence and guidance. What began as a vulnerable social media post about the absence of fatherly support unexpectedly went viral, as men across the world reached out to say, “I feel this too.” Through his honesty, Rico created space for others to acknowledge their own wounds, reminding us that healing often begins when one person is brave enough to tell the truth. This conversation is not about blame, but about becoming. Rico reflects on what it means to seek guidance from God when earthly guidance feels incomplete, how intimacy with God reshapes the heart of a man, and why starting each day at God’s feet allows us to walk more firmly in faith.Rico also shares the heart behind his latest EP, Polaroid, and how music has become a vessel for processing memory, emotion, and healing — capturing moments of love, growth, pain, and transformation through sound. At its core, this episode is a sacred reminder: men carry deep feelings too, and vulnerability is not weakness — it is the doorway to connection, brotherhood, and healing. When one man speaks, many hearts are freed.Follow UsThe Heart Helper PodcastHost- Jodie ShannonGuest- Rico Flash Polaroid EP

We often expect God to speak through the loud, dramatic moments—the earthquake, the fire, the storm. But what if the message you've been waiting for is in the whisper? In 1 Kings 19:11-13, when Elijah stood on the mountain, God wasn't in the powerful wind, the earthquake, or the fire. Instead, God came in a gentle whisper—a still, small voice that could only be heard in the quiet.Sometimes you have to be still to hear what The Spirit is saying. Maybe you've been missing the message while waiting for the bottle, and in doing so, you've been missing the blessing.Join me on The Heart Helper as we explore what it means to quiet our hearts, listen for God's whisper, and discover the blessings that come when we stop striving and start hearing.Follow Us On InstagramShow The Heart HelperHost Jodie Shannon

We talk a lot about love, joy, and peace as Christians, but what about long-suffering? In this episode, we dive into the often-overlooked fruit of the Spirit that's essential for our spiritual growth. Long-suffering and forbearance aren't just nice qualities to have—they're part of the journey God has called us to walk.Suffering is inevitable, but are you suffering well? Like Paul, we must learn to be content in every situation, whether we're experiencing abundance or hardship. This means putting on the full armor of God and standing firm when trials come. Too often, we try to escape suffering quickly, missing the valuable lessons and blessings God has for us in the process. In this episode, we'll explore:Galatians 5:22-23 - The Fruit of the Spirit, including long-sufferingEphesians 6:10-18 - The Full Armor of God for spiritual warfarePhilippians 4:11-13 - Paul's testimony on learning contentment in all circumstancesThe question isn't if you'll face suffering—it's whether you'll suffer gracefully. Join me as we explore what it means to endure with patience, trust God's timing, and discover the strength that comes from staying in the season He's placed you in.Are you suffering well? What if the person you're holding onto is the very thing destroying your purpose? In this episode, I'm diving into the story of Samson and Delilah—a cautionary tale about what happens when we ignore the red flags and let our desires lead us into destruction. Here's what I'm unpacking:The danger of ignoring repeated warnings – Delilah asked Samson about the source of his strength THREE times before he finally gave in. Sometimes God allows people to show us their true colors over and over again, but we refuse to see it because we're blinded by what we want them to be."She pressed him daily with her words and urged him, so that his soul was vexed to death" (Judges 16:16) – Real talk: if someone is constantly pressuring you, draining your peace, and pulling you away from your purpose, that's not love. That's manipulation. Stop painting a different picture of them than what they're showing you.Your anointing wasn't meant to be shared with everyone – Samson's strength was tied to his consecration to God, but he gave his secret to someone who was literally being paid to betray him. Not everyone deserves access to what God has placed inside you."And she said, 'The Philistines are upon you, Samson!' So he awoke from his sleep, and said, 'I will go out as before, at other times, and shake myself free!' But he did not know that the Lord had departed from him" (Judges 16:20) – This verse breaks my heart every time. Samson didn't even realize he'd lost his power. When we compromise our relationship with God for temporary pleasure, we can become numb to His absence. But here's the good news: God still hears your final prayer – Even after everything, when Samson cried out to God one last time, God restored his strength. "Then Samson called to the Lord, saying, 'O Lord God, remember me, I pray! Strengthen me, I pray, just this once, O God'" (Judges 16:28). Your past mistakes don't disqualify you from God's mercy.I know it's hard to walk away from someone you have feelings for, but if they keep showing you who they really are—believe them the first time. Don't let your desires become the altar where your destiny dies.Tune in now and let's have this honest conversation. Your deliverance might be on the other side of letting go.Follow Us On Instagram@thehearthelperpodcast@iamjodieshannon
