We're so happy to be welcoming you, welcoming you back to the improvement season podcast with your favorite natty BB boys, Steve and Magic Mike. And I do just want to apologize because Steve isn't. I am, I am topless right now. If you're not watching on YouTube and I promise I am topless, I have got shorts on. So yeah, we're all. We're decent from that perspective. Or am I? And Steve did say I have to do a forfeit, so.
A
So now you've just put an image into everyone's head, Mike that they can't remove. He is Magic Mike after all. And yeah, he was late, so I was like, hey, you got to do some sort of forfeit. So I, I think like some twerking or I don't know, at least like a flex show, something like this. And I don't know if you know this Mike, but on Spotify now I've been uploading the video files for the podcast, so I don't think the Revive Stronger podcast is quite there yet because I uploaded those previous and like I'm ahead of schedule if that makes sense. But all the improvement season ones because we record them and then release them much sooner, they've been video for like the last dunno how many weeks, so I don't know if that then transfers to other podcast providers, but I think a lot of our listeners are on Spotify or YouTube and so they're all getting video so they can all see you if they want to.
B
So everybody can see my half nakedness, freckles, moles, whatever you call them. Yeah. So yeah, I do. Well just to prove.
A
Oh no, now everyone can.
B
Mike, it's safe.
A
It's going to be for safer word now we can't say it and not safe for work.
B
It's meant to be pg.
A
And in fact you did do a physique update just this week and I said actually I reflected on that the other day. I was like, oh my, my story is just naked men a lot of the time on Instagram. And like ah, actually. And I then was like the Next day I was like, oh yeah, it's just naked, Ben and me included. So yeah, this is bodybuilding for you. And that's why people call bodybuilding like quote unquote, homophobic. Not homophobic, gay. Homophobic would be quite the opposite, actually. Anyway, I am going on a tangent. I don't mean to. What was your reason for being late? I need to know, Mike.
B
Well, for whatever reason, I was just a bit behind client check ins this morning and it was that kind of, I, I was on the cusp of do I, do I kind of finish the last one or do I stop? And I was kind of. It's that kind of decision. It is selfish. I know basically I'm selfish, but I got my timings wrong, basically.
A
So yeah, everyone thinks Mike is the most selfless person ever, but he made me sit here for five minutes whilst he was doing his check in. How, what can I say?
B
Bloody selfish and bloody selfish. That's all I'm gonna say. I'm sorry, but how are you, Steve?
A
How are you doing, hot man? I just sat here with a fan on my legs. I. I don't have shorts on, but I do have underwear on. So we're kind of split in half for it right now because I'm like, well, this is on show, right? Not that it matters anyway, I'm digressing way too much. I feel for Ada. She's just flopped on the ground over here. She just keeps walking somewhere floppy on the ground. Walking somewhere floppy on the ground. And yeah, thankfully she does deals with it much better than other dogs. But on the note of dogs, actually I'm having a little bit of a stress. I don't know if I told you already, Michael, we talked about it, but Ada's been completely fine. But as everyone knows, hopefully she's a little miracle. She shouldn't even be here right now. And I'm so grateful to have her there. But something that's been playing on my mind is that she was due a kind of restaging scan and it was due tomorrow morning basically. And I was like, it's. I don't know how I feel about that. Like in some ways I'm like, oh, if it comes back good, then load off my mind, I can chill. If it doesn't come back good, then like, what can I do about it? And that's some of one of the things I've been reminiscing about in training. It had been like, why am I thinking about this now? It's so annoying. There's nothing I can do about it. Anyway, they literally just left me a text being like, hey, tomorrow morning we can't do her restating exam anymore. It has to be like tomorrow evening. And I'm like, oh, why? Like, just like little things that are just like testing my. I guess staying calm, as it were. So I'm glad. I'm mostly prepared for our trip to Barley now. There's a few things I can only do tomorrow. For example, I imagine you haven't done yet your. I forget what it's called, but like the pass in Indonesia. Yeah, yeah, the arrival card, we can't do that till tomorrow earliest. So.
B
Yeah.
A
Anyway, what was I saying? So I'm hot and feeling a little bit like on edge, but generally pretty good. I've noticed my appetite has really, really dwindled the last two weeks. And yeah, I'm just. I know I need to eat more for my scale weight to go up and I'm just not bothered at all. I'm just like, I just don't want to force that and I don't think I need to either, which is great. I think I'll end up coming back from this trip like five pounds lighter or something, which then will put me very like 10 pounds above stage weight or something ridiculous like that. But anyway, I think it's a combination of the heat is killing my appetite a little bit and then being well recovered from prep and having been in a gaining phase so long and then just being a body composition my body is very comfortable with. But it's weird to think my quotes that, you know, I love, I just have not been looking forward to eating them particularly at all. Whereas those I couldn't remember there was the longest time I was like, post work, I was like, yeah, I get to go back and eat my like post workout meal. Whereas now I'm like, yeah, I guess I shoveled this down and I'm like, I should change this to something a little bit easier to eat. But I'm just like, you know, and you can't be bothered to change what you're eating. Big ramble. I don't know if you have any thoughts on it, but then update me on how you're doing.
B
Yeah, no, I had a first thought on. It's kind of with that like those little things that test your like, calmness. It kind of just again made me think of like when you're in the gym and it's just like maybe that extra rep or that extra set that is just kind of. It's just building your resilience almost and comes back to, well, it's not exactly the same, but that kind of pressure is privilege. I remember you saying that to me, you know, in a couple of episodes ago. And it's just, yeah, those things are there to. To test us, but we've just got to think as well that, hey, it is literally, if we can just ride it, knowing it will pass, we are literally becoming more resilient and able to stay calm. You know, it's making us stronger, basically, is what I was going to say.
A
Yeah, for sure.
B
Doesn't make it easier.
A
No, yeah. It's funny, I was. As you were talking me through, I was like, again, Mike, flipping any negative into a positive and I was trying to think. I was like, I wonder if you ever get like that with things like where to start. Things start building up. You're like, oh, like, that's getting a little bit much now.
B
All the time.
A
It's a human thing, right?
B
It's all the time. Like, I feel it. Like, I'm feeling it right now. Like I.
A
Pressure update.
B
Yeah, like, just. I think it was definitely been this last week or so where it's just that pressure to make sure I've got everything ready, make sure kind of lined up. And it's. It's the simple things, though. It's like, you know, stuff like, well, tomorrow I'd really love to get a haircut. And it's like, it's such a stupid thing because it probably doesn't matter at all, but I'd feel nice just feeling a bit fresher. But I've got to make sure that I've got everything else done and then I've got to remember that my bags are packed because I've got to travel to Heathrow and get the car parking sorted and stuff like that. So it's just all of those things which you're thinking about that you just kind of, again, just add to the sort of the ruminations almost. But to flip on a slight positive, I was really happy because last. Well, for the listeners, it won't be the last episode, but last week when we were speaking, I mentioned about that I'd bought some Rascal clothes and they came. They came. They came today. So I was like, told you. Yes, I know. I was like, I need to trust Steve, I need to have faith, you know, Steve was right. So it came through for me.
A
What did you go for?
B
So I potentially could show you. But. So basically I got three shorts, two of the retro shorts, so I got the white with, like, the blue line. The blue and the red lines.
A
Oh, yeah.
B
So that. And then I got a. Another retrofit shorts. It was like yellow. And then I got the half dumper shorts as well.
A
Oh, cool.
B
So I really like the checkered green black one.
A
Ah, the ones I've got.
B
Yeah. So I've got that as well. And then I bought two extra vests as well, so I'll have those too.
A
The vests are going to be very handy because normally when the weather's not like this, I can wear a vest and maybe it's okay for another session. Maybe get two sessions out of it. That might sound gross to people. So I apologize. But if I've sweat a bunch, I'm not wearing it twice. It's basically if I haven't sweat too much. So at the moment I'm just going through a vest every session. I'm like, I imagine that's kind of going to happen in Bali because it's just going to be sweaty every day everywhere. But nice that you've got. Yeah. A bunch of stuff to be able to wear out there.
B
Yeah. And I also, last night I also ordered some extra clothes as well. So I didn't. Again, I didn't have any like casual shorts to wear. Like all I've got is gym shorts. So I just bought a couple. And I bought a couple of kind of nicer shirts because we're going to have a couple of meals out as part of the camp. So I bought some of those. So hopefully they should be coming today as well.
A
So where are they from?
B
Asos.
A
Asos. Nice.
B
Okay. Yeah. So like kind of like top man manga, Mango man. That, that kind of stuff.
A
Yeah. Mango, yeah. Because they have next day delivery you can pay for. Right. So I imagine you did that. Yeah. Charlotte has their like whatever their premium, like it's kind of like Amazon prime but face off so it cut, you can get it next day. Because she uses it all the time. Because for whatever reason she and I going to say this is a stereotype for women. They're like, I've got nothing to wear. So every time she has any event she's like, I need to buy stuff last minute to wear the next day. And then she buys like five pairs of shoes, five dresses. I'm like, what? I don't. If you don't return these, where are these going? Like, what's happening here? How do you never have anything to wear? It's always like that. She has nothing to wear apparently. But yeah, I have my. Literally if you could look in here, I Have my suitcase here with everything I packed this past weekend or. Obviously it's a bit weird because everyone listening will think that that's like the weekend we traveled would be when I packed, but because these episodes are coming out in a funny order. But there's like, toiletries. I've got a few things. I have, like my to do list in my, like, Apple notes. So my last things are obviously toiletries. Shoes.
B
Yeah.
A
How many pairs of shoes are you taking, Mike?
B
So my Vivo shoes, which are basically my gym shoes, I don't really need to take heel lifts because I can. I've always been fine without them.
A
Your heels lift.
B
Let my. I let my heels lift. So I'm going to take those. I'm going to take my Adidas Gazelles and then I'm going to take some flip flops. So three.
A
That is where I was going. It was whether I was going to take another trainer for. Well, there's a mount. A bature hike. I don't know if you and Andrew are doing it maybe. But yeah, there's that hike. I think my Vivos will be fine for that. I will take some inserts, though, because I don't love letting my. I don't love that, like, my heels lift. I don't know why. It just always feels a lot of ankle and calves for me. So I will bring some of those. As you've reminded me, I haven't put those in my bag. Flip flops. I have. I like. I wear my mules loads. My, like Birkenstock black. I think you've seen them. I wear those loads. I think I'll wear those to travel in. So I just don't have, like a smarter trainer like your Gazelles. But I think I'll just be able to wear the Birkenstocks everywhere. I imagine that's what it'll be like.
B
I think so.
A
Cool. You're making me feel better about that. So I need to put those away. Oh, I need to pack my tripod. That's one thing I haven't packed yet because I've been using it. I need to get my Esim.
B
Yeah.
A
And then that's it. I've checked in, actually, they emailed. I don't know if you've had the email, but I've checked in.
B
I've had the email too. So that was going to be on my to do list after we've finished this.
A
There is something on there they want, like what we're doing for Bali three days before that kind of travel card. They're asking for one for Singapore but because we're not going into Singapore, we're just transferring through Singapore. You don't need to do it.
B
Oh okay, that's good for that.
A
So the check in process is easy, you just click through it.
B
Do you need to pay for the arrival card? Do you need to like pay money?
A
I don't know because we already paid for the Visa. Right. That was a little bit of money. So yeah, I imagine that might be free. Yeah. And then I want to buy some toiletries in the airport to have like a little ah. Unless I buy ahead of time but I probably won't. But like just some bits because the flight's so long. I want to have an opportunity to. Do you remember actually where was it where we'd gone to? Was it Switzerland where we didn't have toothpaste?
B
Yeah, yeah,
A
this is it. So I'm like I need to buy toothpaste that I can have that because I'll pack obviously toothpaste anyway.
B
Yeah.
A
But I don't know if it's too much liquid probably to go through Singapore, whatever because Heathrow now have the 2 liter limit but it's no good for us because then we can't have more than the certain amount because of Singapore. So you can come in if you eat something or drink it, whatever. It can be up to 2 liters I believe now. But where was I going with that? So yeah, I want some like toothpaste and stuff to freshen up on the flight because otherwise yeah, we're after resort to salt like we did when we're in Switzerland. I know, try and clean our teeth a little bit.
B
It wasn't good. I actually didn't realize that because I bought some travel toiletries from Amazon the other day and like so it was just like shampoo, toothpaste, shower soap, etc and I thought oh is this too many things or whatever and I thought should be okay. But yeah, I think as long as
A
it fits in one thing it basically is fine. You can have as much as you want or I don't even know if you can have several bags. I can't precisely know. But if it's a travel thing that you bought off Amazon, I'm sure it's. You'll be just fine.
B
Yeah, again it's just all those little things that sometimes you think last minute you think oh no, I can't do that type of thing.
A
But I literally just asked Chachi Beatty, I was like is melatonin fine? Because I know some countries you have to have A prescription to get it. I was like, are they going to, like, be funny? Because I've got some really old Melatonin that I was like, I might as well try and see if this does something to help get me into like a better sleep pattern. So I'm going to have that to take. But who knows the potency of it because it's probably very weak now. It was 3 milligrams, which isn't that strong anyway, so maybe it'll provide a milligram. And it's novel to me anyway.
B
Yeah. And do you know what? It's funny you mentioned that because it did cross my mind sort of on the weekend. You. I thought, oh, I wonder if Steve's going to be shifting his sort of sleep and wake time. And so I'm like, oh, I wonder what he's going to do about that. But I take it you. You haven't so far.
A
Today would be the first day that I would go to bed a little earlier. But it's tricky because first of all, I don't like doing it anyway. Like, going to bed earlier is kind of tough and it don't. I don't know, I just don't love it. So I probably won't be able to do it by much if I do. But I do have a time and I'll. I'll walk through with. When we kind of meet up, I can talk to you about it. But you can use Timeshifter if you've ever used the app. It's called Timeshifter. You get a free trial. You can put in like one trip in there and it will give you some ideas how to go things. But it's a bit weird because you put in your wake and bedtime into it and then your chronotype and things. But I'm like, when, when we're in camp, I don't know like what the wake and start times and like all of that going to be. When are we going to go to bed? Is. I imagine it's not going to mirror perfectly what I'm doing now. And then when Charlotte comes out, inevitably we kind of get up later and go to bed later because she's a night owl, I'm an early bird, so I'm like, I'm not going to stress about it, but I'm hoping to get some hours of sleep on the flight at some point because otherwise that'll be a long day to then go into Sunday and not have had any sleep. So the good news is, at least we have to get up quite early on the Friday to get into Heathrow, or at least for me, that's early. It's probably. No earlier. You probably don't have to get up earlier because it's just your usual time.
B
Yeah, same time for me, basically.
A
So I have to get up maybe at least half an hour earlier, maybe an hour earlier than my usual. So at least that builds up some, like, tiredness and fatigue. That'll help me be a bit more sleepy on the flight. But, yeah, I'll try my best to get a bit of sleep on the fight, but I don't know how do you. I imagine you sleep fine on a flight. I don't actually know, though.
B
It's lighter but like, I can still sleep, so it's not the same as obviously, like lying completely flat and stuff like that, but if I'm tired enough, I'll go to sleep.
A
Yeah, mine. I. Usually when I fly, I have this feeling of I don't feel like I've slept. And then I'll ask Charlotte and she'll be like, yeah, you were dozing, like, tough. So that's normally the response I get. So it's a weird one where I'm like, I know I did sleep. I don't feel like I slept because I was just like. Felt like I was just awake the whole time. The other unfortunate thing is not that you'll care about this, Mike, because I feel like you're almost anti the World cup at the moment. But England are playing. Who are they playing? No, they just beat Mexico
B
or something. Oh, they lost to someone, didn't they?
A
I don't know if we lost a game.
B
Oh, maybe not. It's just me then.
A
I can't remember. I can't actually remember the past games, but we beat Mexico just recently and it was apparently an amazing game, but it was at a really inappropriate time to wait, stay awake and kind of watch it, which I'm glad I didn't, even though it was a great game, because I just don't want that turbulence in my life. And then. But they're. They're playing. Who was I going to say? Norway. So they're playing Norway, who have done really well in the World cup so far and I would have loved to stream it whilst we're on the flight and watch it because I think that'd be quite nice to. I like watching. I wouldn't really care about watching it too much on my own, but watching it with people I find quite fun and entertaining because it's kind of exciting. But we Can't. The WI fi is never good enough to stream things on flights or I don't know if at least on this Singapore Airline flight it's not so might just have to rely on like commentary or something to hear how it's going. Going or like a text based kind of response.
B
Because I, I don't know if I said this last time, but I did reflect on it. I'm not anti sport, I'm not anti football. It's just when I'm on my own I just don't have a drive to want to watch it. Like I'm just very happy watching other things. But I'm very similar to you. If there's like. If I'm with you or if I'm with someone, I'm. I, I really enjoy, I enjoy like the situation. So. But it's just on my own, I'm, I'm not like, nah, I don't care kind of thing.
A
Yeah, it's kind of similar to me. If it's on at a convenient time I'll probably watch it. But if it's not, then especially if I'm on my own, there's just, there's no way I'm going to stay up that, that kind of time to watch it. But the Mexico game was apparently amazing. I watched the highlights and it looked like super engaging. I think in the end it was 3:2, so it was pretty tight. And we're in the Azteca, I think the stadium's called. So the Mexicans were on home turf and they've. I think the, the statistics of how much they've lost there is like ridiculous. So we really. And there's like different. What's it called when you're up? Higher altitude. Yeah, yeah. So that plays a role. You basically are fighting for a bit more oxygen. So yeah, it's. Things were against us and we still managed to, to pull through, which is quite fun. So anyway we'll, we'll be able to listen to it maybe on the flight.
B
What stage of the World cup is it, Is it quarterfinals yet?
A
No, I don't think we're quite in quarterfinals. I don't think what's before quarterfinals? I don't even know what that.
B
The group stages.
A
Yeah, yeah. I don't think we're, I think quarterfinals will be after this game.
B
Okay.
A
I think the final will be whilst we're out traveling. Pretty certain that will be. So. Yeah.
B
Well, do you think England will make it through the group stages?
A
Norway's going to be tough, man. It's going to Be really tough. But if we beat Nor we should beat Norway, I think FIFA have us ranked as fourth in the world. I don't know where they are. No way.
B
That's stupid. I think they've got their ranking systems wrong.
A
Coming from someone who doesn't watch any of the games. You're so anti England, Mike.
B
I know this.
A
What is this about anyway? People are probably. People are. Neither of us are super engaged with football in the World cup, so we probably shouldn't talk about it too much more.
B
We might have to.
A
What?
B
I don't know what the word is, but, like, revert to Ali. You know, Ali can let us know what's going on in the football.
A
Well, yeah, Portugal are out. Ronaldo cried. That was his last World Cup. Yeah, Messi is still going. And actually it was a bit of a contentious win against Egypt. But anyone listening is like, I heard. I knew all of this, like, weeks ago. Why are you telling me all these updates? I'm like, I'm excited about it because it's all new to me and I'm enjoying following it along. How's the rest of your week gone, Mike?
B
It's gone. It's gone. Good, actually. I can't remember what I was going to say.
A
How's your. The past weekend?
B
Yeah, weekend. Weekend was good. I was just pretty much just getting ready for Bali. Like, I was getting my EVS at my Visa sorted eim, like, trying to line all of that stuff up, basically. And yeah, that was my weekend was like, right, get ready for Bali, essentially. One thing I do have quite notable update. So THR has come on the scene for Invincible, so season four. And I know who THR is now. I've been waiting. And then he popped on. I'm like, we're in. We're into it. So, yeah, I'm excited. So that was a. That's been a highlight for me, but also, sorry, just to kind of revert back to training as well. I. So I did do something at the weekend where I. I'd kind of forgotten what our plan was essentially, where I didn't realize that when we. When we're gonna arrive, we planned to train to help us, like, acclimatize the time zone, but I'd completely forgotten about that. And then I was just thinking to myself, I, ah, you know, we're gonna. I'm gonna miss a day of training. And I was kind of checking in with myself and like, right, how am I feeling? Am I feeling well, recovered? Do I think I could get a productive training session in and all in all, I was like, do you know what, I think I'm good, so I'm gonna give it a try. And so I ended up starting my week early and missing kind of a rest day. And then I didn't realize that, oh, we're supposed to be training anyway, so. So that was a bit of a faux pas on my part. But ultimately I'm still feeling really good right now. Performance is in a good place. I actually, again, really weirdly, my hack squat performance is just great right now. I think I've, I think my body's just adapted. I've had a. Because I was stuck for hack squats for ages. Like I've been at 160 for like, like a month basically. And the reps have kind of been just staying the same for a long time. And then just in the last probably two or three weeks, it's just suddenly gone boop. And I haven't changed technique to my knowledge. I haven't changed anything. It's just like, I've just noticed an uptick. So, so that, that was again, just good confirmation of stuff that we've talked about in the past. But also it's just quite nice. So, yeah, in a bit of a flow with, with that and legs in general at the moment, it's just nice to. I hate to say this, but I'm touching wood. I'm relatively niggle free right now, so. So things are feeling very positive. I would say on that front you
A
deserve the niggle free considering the injury you went through. So. But that's, I do think that's a great reminder where like people think they're plateaued, but it's just like you're just kind of holding and there might be small adaptations taking place that aren't leveling up to a complete additional rep or what have you. And then you just see it all come. So it's almost like this. People will be aware of like the whoosh or the delayed fat loss effect where it's like, ah, like you know, you're in a deficit, you're dieting hard, but the scale just isn't moving. You stay patient, you continue to do your good, expenditure your training. A couple of weeks later, three weeks later, it might even be. And you're like, okay, suddenly you're down two kilos. You're just like, oh, like so things were happening and there probably were signs and indications that oh were. And it's just you need to trust the process. And as long as you are adhering to the process, like it will work. It's just a matter of time. So similar in your case, I guess it's like a bit of a delayed muscle growth effect almost, you could call it, but it's not really. It's just, hey, you overload and you get a progression once you've seen those adaptations take place. And for someone of your level of advancement, a month sticking to the same weights and loads makes sense, actually. So it's not surprising. And it's just you'll probably hit another one soon enough where you'll just feel like, yeah, arms kind of here for a bit. Let's kind of work with it. And then it will come again in future. And so long as things feel good and the important thing that you didn't do was change your technique like you said. And I think that's somewhere where, again, people are used to being able to add a rep and a little bit of load every week, but they then are like, oh, I need to. And then they modify their technique and maybe they risk injury or the SFR drops off and that's where problems ensue. It's just like, hey, take what the body's giving you at that time and be patient and it will come. So, yeah, definitely a good reminder. You made me feel a little bit bad on Sunday. I have to admit, for a moment I was like, oh, damn, Mike's doing his session and I'm not. But I'm like, but I know we're due to train on Sunday. And honestly, I was like, I do not want to go train. Just I need this rest day. So I'm guessing right now you don't feel that kind of cumulative build up through the week of fatigue. It just feels like any old Thursday. How's it already? Thursday? God.
B
I know. Although it's funny because it has messed up with my weekly rhythm because I kind of think I'm a day ahead. It kind of feels like Friday because, you know, you're so used to training, like at the same times and stuff. It just. Monday felt like Tuesday and it's just felt a bit discombobulated. I thought, oh, yeah, it's not that day today.
A
But yeah, I totally. When you're used to training, like, I'm used to having my Sunday rest day and I like having it. So when things get shifted around or I feel like I can and should train that day because of, like you said, if things I. I have some things coming up where, I don't know, clients are competing. And so I can't train on my usual Saturday So it's like, well, I'm gonna have to train on the Sunday or absorb that like the week before or what have you. So, yeah, it's. It's good that you can do it. But yeah, it does throw off the rhythm sometimes and it is what it is. That's probably almost taking us to our weekly update. Mike, we've been talking for almost half an hour.
B
I. So are things with stuff like rdls? How did rdls go today?
A
Yeah, good, actually. So I'd been considering rotating out good mornings for a while because I'd been running them a long time and I was just like, I just. Good mornings I like, but if I don't have to do them, I would not kind of tend to choose to do them. I was like, I don't really want another RDL pattern. I don't feel like I've got the kind of give to another RDL pattern. But I've always liked back extensions for a time and then I start not liking them because probably the load gets so heavy and they become awkward to do and so on and so forth. But I was like, I'm just going to rotate in back extensions today. I just. I kind of feel like it's the time to do it. And I had a feeling I would get sore from it because it's quite novel and different and I did get quite sore. Like, I'm still sore today. Obviously I did it, what, two days ago. So I was carrying saunas into today's session. And so I was just being careful with rdls. I was like, let's not. That's. I don't know if it's been on your mind at all. I imagine it hasn't been. But for me, at least the last two weeks, I've been like, don't get injured, Steve. Don't do anything that's going to lead to you not be able to train at your fullest during the camp. That's why I made some preemptive decisions regarding, like pre fatiguing my quads before quad compounds and rotating some things out that were maybe not feeling the best just because I want to feel as fresh as possible without holding back progress right now. So it felt like a good move. See, anyway, I went into my rdls just being like, hey, let's not. Because I think some people think if you're sore, you can't train. It's like, it's not necessarily. And soreness can be a sign of muscle damage, but also not completely. Like there are other reasons you can feel sore and it doesn't mean that the muscle can't perform. I've certainly performed a lot of times with some muscles feeling like a bit sore and tender and sometimes it even helps, like the mind muscle connection because I'm like, oh, yeah, I can feel that muscle a bit more. So I was just careful because obviously the, the weighted stretch on rdls is, is a lot, but went into it and I was just feeling good today for whatever reason. I think some of the angst surrounding the trip has dimmed a little bit and I've been able to sleep a little better some of these evenings. And so I felt good going in today and I think I hit a lifetime PR, actually. 205 kilos for 12, I believe, is a lifetime PR for me. So I'm quite happy with that. And I didn't even intend to actually, for some reason I had in my head last week I got 12, so I was like, let's get 12. And then I looked and I was like, oh, last week I got 11.
B
Yeah, nice.
A
12 felt good. So, yeah, I got those went well. And I imagine my hamstrings are going to feel even more sore tomorrow potentially, but they'll be recovered for Sunday by the time we come back. Well, I'll come back and train some legs, which would be good. See everything's. And the knees are feeling like when I train now, I'm the way I've set it up with pre fatiguing on leg extensions. I don't have pain during my sessions, like maybe a one or two here or there where I'm like, oh, yeah, feel that. But if I have the knee sleeves on, I pre fatigue, I approach those sets sensibly, like I'm training my quads pain free, which is nice. So, yeah, I'll. I'll carry that forward into the camp, hopefully. But yeah, training go nicely at the moment? No, apart from the knees and the tfl still there it unfortunately is, but nothing terrible by any means.
B
Did you have to fill out the injury form that the BK team sent?
A
I have not.
B
Probably because you're one of the, you know, lecturers. I don't know what to call, like. I was kind of coaches. Coaches, that's it. I was kind of saying like lecturers, mentors. I was like, I don't know, I can't think of the word. But yeah, so we got all the attendees got given a injury form to fill out and it just had questions like, you know, have you got any pain that you're currently experiencing or have you got any Injuries. And when it came to like the Nicholls question, I was like. But I said, no, I think I'm fine. But injuries wise, I was like, yeah, I wonder if these are like red flags. But it's like, right, dislocated fractured shoulder, you know, fractured ankle was like, oh, God. But, so, yeah, but no, it was great. I mean, it's, it's, it really is a, you know, proper sort of training camp. We've had all of the information in terms of like the meals, the injury screen forms.
A
Oh, you had to pick your meals as well. Yeah, yeah.
B
So that was exciting. I was like, diddle. So, yeah, really cool.
A
I'll be interested to see what you went for. What dessert? Actually, I know there was three desserts. I remember I went for whatever the banana bready one looked like. I wonder if you went for the same one.
B
I think I did, yeah.
A
I'm pretty sure because it felt like the obvious choice.
B
Yeah, I was like the other. I can't remember what the other two choices were, to be honest though. But they were kind of. They were quite average. I would have said it was like. I was like, meh, meh. Ah, yes, you'll go for that.
A
Love it.
B
So, yeah.
A
Right, well, I should probably leave this here so we have plenty of time for the Q and A.
B
Indeed.
A
Guys, thank you for bearing with us with these slightly shorter episodes. However, this is a bonus for anyone listening this far into the podcast. Look forward to a. I'm going to put it out there now that we are going to be able to record this. I have got the external. What is it called? The Bluetooth microphones. And so we can record together and have separate audio and it should all run smoothly. So we can do an in person podcast in Bali, which should be pretty exciting and cool. We can try and make it. Yeah, I don't know, show you a bit around where we're staying or whatever, wherever we are at the time that we record it.
B
So maybe. I don't know if what you think, Steve, but should we ask the listeners to comment on what they'd like us to either show them or talk about or anything like that? Do you think they can.
A
And we can take that into consideration? For sure. I'd be interested to know what they want us to talk about. I imagine depending on when we record it, we'll reflect on the camp or, I don't know, just on things so far. But that will probably be a big update episode versus a Q& A. But we have a big Q A coming for this next episode, so look forward to it.
B
Oh, yeah. All right, we'll see you next week, guys.
A
Cheers, guys. As always, thank you. Leave your comment, leave your thumbs up, leave your subscription rating and review, and we'll catch you in the next episode. Take care.
B
See you later.
